Enemy Territory: gamma change impossible with fglrx 8.42.3-1

After the last fglrx update I am unable to change my gamma in Enemy Territory. It just stays very dark. I heard that other people have the same problem (German ubuntu (:p) forums: http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/130081/#1046848).
Now I tried to downgrade but then the older fglrx are incompatible with the current xorg, that gave me some evil error messages. Do I have to downgrade xorg as well now, if I want a brighter ET or is there a workaround?

I thin you could simply  open a console and type
xgamma -gamma foo
(where foo is a float; 1.0 is default, > 1.0 is brighter, < 1.0 is darker)

  • Cannot use 1440x900 resolution with fglrx no matter what I do

    I have used hwd and got a configured xorg.conf and I added "1440x900" to the modes list but it does not work. I have even copied over my working xorg.conf from ubuntu and sabayon and it works for every resolution EXCEPT 1440x900. I seems like everything think I do to add 1440x900 it just ignores it. The xorg.conf below is from hwd and I added the "1440x900" but in GNOME I can only use 1024x768 , 800x600 and 640x480. What am I doing wrong?

    If you are having issues with an ATI card as your xorg.conf shows (you also mentioned nvidia, so I'm covering my butt), you may want to see my posts and others in this thread:
    http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=35753
    Basically, it discusses that sync, refresh, and modes / modelines don't work very well with "fglrx" driver, at least in my experience. The simplest xorg.conf lines relative to your video card and monitor sections will likely work best. I had similar issues (and more) with trying to include very specific xorg.conf code for those sections, and I had to resort to leaving it close to the bare-bones setup created by aticong  --initial to get everything to work properly.
    I'm back to the radeon driver (for aiglx) now, so I can't do any testing for you. But hopefully the above info let's you know others have had similar issues.
    I tried to do what you said. I ran xorgconfig again and then ran aticonfig --initial. I started up GDM and it did not work, well something worked but my monior said it could not display it. Now my guess is that it could have worked but the resolution was set too high on GDM and my monitor could not handal it. So I added the HorizSync & VertRefresh. Now I have used the  HorizSync & VertRefresh in Ubuntu and Sabayon with fglrx and it works great. I have another computer with an Nvidia card that runs Arch and it works great on this monitor at 1440*900. When I start GDM it picks its own resolutions regradless of what I have in the Modes section. As of now I can display:
    1920x1200
    1920x1080
    1600x1200
    1280x1024
    1280x720
    1152x864

  • [SOLVED] Installation of Enemy Territory fails

    Hi Archers ,
    System:
    Archlinux 64bit
    32bit libs: (installed with pacman "What else ")
    lib32-glibc, lib32-gcc-libs, lib32-alsa-lib, lib32-libstdc++5, lib32-openal, lib32-libxdamage, lib32-libxfixes, lib32-sdl
    Nvidia Driver (also installed with 32bit lib support):
    NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-100.14.23-pkg2.run (This is the only Nvidia driver which works without graphical problems in UT2004)
    Shell: BASH (uxterm)
    Login: root (Please NO discussion about the risk and consequences being logined as root *THANX*)
    following Problem:
    I would like to play Enemy Territory but the Installer failed to install with following message:
    Verifying archive integrity... All good.
    Uncompressing Enemy Territory 2.60 Full Install..............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
    ./setup.sh: line 191: /root/.setup8705: cannot execute binary file
    ./setup.sh: line 191: /root/.setup8705: cannot execute binary file
    I started the installer with following commands but everytime the same message:
    linux32 sh et-linux-2.60.x86.run
    linux32 sh ./et-linux-2.60.x86.run
    linux32 et-linux-2.60.x86.run
    linux32 ./et-linux-2.60.x86.run
    ./et-linux-2.60.x86.run
    I try to change the PATH-Variable:
    PATH=$PATH:/opt/lib32/lib:/opt/lib32/usr/lib
    (same error message as above)
    Than i tried to install an older Version (et-linux-2.55.x86.run) with following Message:
    Verifying archive integrity... All good.
    Uncompressing Enemy Territory 2.55...........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
    The setup program seems to have failed on x86/glibc-2.0
    See http://zerowing.idsoftware.com/linux/ for troubleshooting
    In this case i also tried all variations of starting the binary, as above.
    I also tried to extract the binary with the --keep parameter and start the setup.sh manualy (also with and without the linux32 command), but with the same results.
    Is there a Problem with the LOKI installer?
    Is there a lib, which i have to install?
    Do i have to edit the setup.sh?
    PLEASE HELP ME.......

  • Using sound for Enemy Territory and TeamSpeak

    When I'm playing a match of Enemy Territory I would like to still here the sound that TeamSpeak produces. I've tried numerous things, but I can't get ET and TS to work together.
    Does anyone have a succes story they can share with me?
    my current .asoundrc:
    pcm.my_card {
    type hw
    card 0
    # mmap_emulation true
    pcm.dmixed {
    type dmix
    ipc_key 1024
    # ipc_key_add_uid false # let multiple users share
    # ipc_perm 0666 # IPC permissions for multi user sharing (octal, defa ult 0600)
    slave {
    pcm "my_card"
    # rate 48000
    # period_size 512
    pcm.dsnooped {
    type dsnoop
    ipc_key 2048
    slave {
    pcm "my_card"
    # rate 48000
    # period_size 128
    pcm.asymed {
    type asym
    playback.pcm "dmixed"
    capture.pcm "dsnooped"
    pcm.pasymed {
    type plug
    slave.pcm "asymed"
    pcm.dsp0 {
    type plug
    slave.pcm "asymed"
    pcm.!default {
    type plug
    slave.pcm "asymed"
    Thanks in advance,
    Marco

    I had the same problem a while ago. The thing was that ET opened the sound-device in full-duplex mode (recording and playing at once) while TeamSpeak tried to do the same thing. But somehow this is not possible with the OSS Emulation of Alsa. So you've to overwrite the game's defaults by doing something like that:
    echo "et.x86 0 0 disable" > /proc/asound/card0/pcm0c/oss
    echo "et.x86 0 0 direct" > /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/oss
    echo "et.x86 0 0 disable" > /proc/asound/card0/pcm1c/oss
    I've no idea what exactly each line is good for and maybe you have to adjust this a bit, but I guess a google search will reveal it. I put this lines into /etc/rc.local so I don't have to do this manually after each reboot.

  • Enemy Territory on Nov 2007 macbook (Black)

    so i have a macbook i just got for christmas and im trying to play Enemy Territory on it with the most recent patchs etc. when i open up the game all i hear is a constant sound that keeps looping and gets really annoying. it never did this for any other platforms does anyone else play this game or know if this is due to leopard or is it the new graphics chip in the macbooks
    thanks!

    Have you tried this:
      http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xor … .21_WTF.3F
    My mouse pointer was constantly moving to bottom right in UT2004 and Saurbauten. Fixed it by adding the following line at end of /etc/profile:
      export SDL_VIDEO_X11_DGAMOUSE=0
    The export could also be place in ~/.bashrc for each user, or in startup script for each game.  By putting it in /etc/profile it applies to all users.

  • Enemy territory and doom3 mouse annoyance

    I have three options:-
    1. Do not disable dga in xorg.conf- :- If my move my mouse too much, some of the movement data is stored in some buffer or something. Press any key or move the mouse some more, this movement data stored in the buffer gets released and you can see the cursor moving in random directions. Till all the data gets released your keypresses do not do anything except moving the mouse. Virtually unplayable.
    2. Disable dga:- mouse movements become slow in doom3 whereas in enemy territory very slow mouse movements are not picked up at all. Extremly irritating.
    3.X11_SDL_VIDEO_DGAMOUSE=0: does not seem to make any difference in et(I think it does not use SDL). In doom3, it is same as disabling dga in xorg.
    rtcw works perfectly, what is wrong with et and doom3?

    export SDL_VIDEO_X11_DGAMOUSE=0, nor any other suggestions worked for me either.  I think that there's actually two very similar problems that are being lumped in as one.
    There's no problem with slow mouse movements on my system.  It's that whenever the mouse wheel was used, the wheel movements wouldn't register until the mouse was moved.  That in effect would delay the actual mouse movements.  And the more the wheel was used, the greater the delay.
    I just locked all of my xorg packages to the last working release.
    Edit: Should note, I only tested RTCW:ET.

    Hohoho wrote:The binary is at /opt/enemy-territory/et
    There should also be a symlink at /usr/bin/enemy-territory
    So by typing enemy-territory in a terminal ET should run.
    it doesn't run when I type ET in the terminal

  • Enemy Territory Quake Wars won't run because of video card/driver

    I have installed Enemy Territory Quake Wars to my Tecra A9-51U and when it trys to load it comes up with the message:
    "The current video card / driver combination does not support the necessary features: GL_ARB_texture_rectangle or GL_EXT_texture_rectangle GL_ARB_shader_objects GL_ARB_vertex_shader GL_ARB_fragment_shader"
    I have tried to install new drivers from both intel an nvidia however they they dont work and say that the driver must come from toshiba however I can not find any!
    Is there anything that I can do to resolve this or is there nothing that i can do to get it working!!?

    Hi buddy,
    why so nervous? I have here some nice sites which have really good drivers WHICH WORK ;)
    Check these sites:
    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ (read the FAQ section first)
    http://www.omegadrivers.net/
    download the drivers from there and play quake wars. Its a nice game, I am waiting for it since I ordered it and it should come next week.

  • [Solved] Enemy Territory Punk Buster kicking me from servers

    Has anyone tried playing ET in pb enabled servers recently?  I just tried a fresh install from AUR and it seems that I keep getting kicked with the message:
    Server Disconnected - Punkbuster kicked
    player 'jb' (for 2 minutes) ...
    violation (GAME INTEGRITY) #20004
    running et-pbupdate didn't seem to correct the problem, nor did going in as root to /opt/enemy-territory/pb and running pbweb.x86 from there, then from my local pb directory as me.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    Cool, that seemed to do it; marking as solved.  For the benefit of anyone else that manages to run into this same problem, I'll spell it out here since there's a lot of competing suggestions floating around that, at least for me, failed to solve the problem:
    1. pacman'd upx *
    2. downloaded the pbsetup for 32-bit Linux Games (GUI version) from here.
    3. ran upx -d pbsetup.run
    4. ran ./pbsetup.run as root
    5. added Enemy Territory with the path /opt/enemy-territory and updated
    6. copied /opt/enemy-territory/pb to ~/.etwolf/pb and corrected the ownership and permissions so my user has ownership and read-write permissions on everything in the local pb directory.
    7. ran the game and enabled punkbuster.
    It gave some initial notice of a guid mismatch in the first server I connected to, but I haven't seen it since.
    * I happened to have lib32-libpng12 from AUR installed.  It may be necessary to run the gui client.

  • Wolfenstein Enemy Territory Leopard

    I have recently purchased a MacBook 2.0 GHz 80GB running Leopard and i tried to play one of my favorite online games Wolfenstein Enemy Territory but whenever i tried starting it up it never worked just froze the Macbook and had to force quit happens every time. Is there anyway to resolve this i have tried downloading and running every version there was.
    Many Thanks
    Brad Smith

    Hey Brad,
    Does your computer fall within this list of qualifications?
    Windows® 98/ME/2000/XP OS (Windows NT 4.0 not recommended for clients)
    100% Windows® 98/ME/2000/XP compatible system (including all 32bit drivers)
    Intel Pentium® III 600Mhz processor or equivalent
    128 MB RAM
    32 MB 100% fully OpenGL® compliant 3-D video card
    Microsoft® Direct X® 8.1 or higher (not included)
    271 MB total disk space for game files
    500 MB free disk space for swap file
    100% Microsoft® Windows® compatible keyboard
    100% Microsoft® Windows® compatible mouse
    100% Microsoft® Windows® compatible sound card
    For internet play, 100% Windows® 98/ME/2000/XP compatible 56.6k modem or better internet connection. 56.6k modem play is not recommended for games with more than 8 players total; broadband players should be able to handle up to 32 depending on their connection with the server on which they're playing.
    I fail to see Mac OS listed.

  • ECM-Difference between Change Unnecessaryand Change Impossible

    Hi
    Could anyone throw me some light on Object status of ECR Change Unnecessary and Change Impossible.
    Becasue result both are not allowing to use the change number.
    Then what could be the difference between these two statuses.

    The difference is as below
    Usually the change request is comming from user.
    After studying the request and modification required, you can go for
    change possible
    Change unnecessary
    chnage impossible.
    if chnage is okay- then first option, if change is not okay thne we have 2 options
    Change unnecessary
    chnage impossible.
    If change is rejected then you have to be clear that what requested by user is unnecessary or it is not possible in the system.
    To indicate this these two options are used. We can take the report of such cases.
    Hence wheever new request is comming first this will be chceked with these cases then only taken up for change.
    please come back if u have any question
    Ex- design change is requested, but it is unnecessary as value it is going to add is very less even those change is possible.
    Some times design change is requested, but not possible to impliment-such cases go with - change impossible.

  • Error while changing BOM with change number

    Hi ALL, Please help me with followed error message, I am using ECM. I created ECR and converted to ECO and then released.
    Object management record cannot be generated
    Message no. 29046
    Diagnosis
    You want to change the BOM with the entered change number.
    One of the following situations triggered this error message:
    1. The indicator that allows automatic generation is not set for object type BOM in the change master.
    2. The indicator generation only on initial creation is set for object type BOM
    3. You are processing a change request.
    System response
    The system checks whether the indicator object management record will be generated is set in the change master.
    If the indicator generation only on initial creation is set, the system checks whether the BOM exists in the system.
    Procedure
    If you are authorized to change the change master, execute the following steps:
    For 1.)
    Set this indicator for object type BOM or create the control record in the change master.
    For 2.)
    If the BOM already exists in the system and the generation only on initial creation indicator is set, the system can no longer generate the control record automatically.
    In this case you have to add the object control record to the change master first, then you can change the BOM in relation to the change number.
    For 3.)
    You cannot generate any object control records for a change request.

    Hi
    With your question regarding changing BOM with change number  it looks lke there may be problem in defining the Object types,objects.Moreover whenever converted to ECO you need to enter into cs02 tcode for changing the bom with relevant change number and valid from date.
    Hope this gives you a clear idea.let me know if you need anyfurther inputs.
    Regards
    Praveen
