Enhance photo is pixelating photo

The enhance photo feature in the default photo app worked like once. Now when I use it, the saved photo looks like one of those mural images made from thousands of smaller photos. What's going on, why will it show me the enhanced photo but save a different distorted image?

I can provide an example. I had to sync the photo, enhance it, then email it back to myself to get it off my iPad, but this is what the enhance feature is doing. Before:

  • Photo Stream not uploading enhanced photos

I don't know if any of you have experienced this but all the photos on Photo Stream that are downloaded onto my computer are those that have yet to be auto-enhanced. Those auto-enhanced photos look superb on the iPhone 4S but strangely only the unenhanced versions are synced to iCloud. Any ideas why? To add on, this is not just happening to Photo Stream, but all other apps such as Facebook cannot access the edited versions as well. Is this a bug or is it intentional?

I have the same problem. I cloud is turned on on my PC. Photostream is on. I have photos in my photostream on my iphone but nothing appears in my pc, ever

  • Possible to Adjust Enhance Photo?

Aloha, quick question. Is there anyway (including using the terminal) to adjust the amount of enhancement when hitting the enhance photo tool? (iPhoto 6.0.5) Mahalo in advance for any/all tips suggestions.. JB

Mahalo for the reply, I have Elements, as well as CS2, however I want to be able to adjust the enhance photo in iPhoto for quick fixes when needed. The enhance over does everything, so it's function isn't very usable in a pinch.

  • Keyboard shortcuts: to enhance photo, to add rating

In aperture I was able to create a keyboard shortcut to enhance photos. This became indispensable. Has anyone figured out a way to do this without clicking 4 times in different parts of screen?
Also I am really really annoyed to have to have the keyword window open in order to rate my photos. I'd like to be able to add ratings without that ugly window on top of everything. (I'm sorry but a heart isn't an effective way to manage what photos are trash, meh, good, great and very special)

And did you try F5 ? You'll soon use both F4 and F5 to clear your display

  • Enhanced photos missing!

I imported, enhanced and titled a batch of photos. I attempted to upload them to a website. I brought up my photos from the Finder but ONLY the original, unenhanced, untitled photos exist (besides the thumbnails). In iPhoto, the photos in question are there! What gives?
    Thanks,
    Ryan

    Walabio:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Are you saying if you enhance a photo in iPhoto with the enhance tool the edit does not get saved and the modified photo file, when examined via the Finder and an image view, is the same as the original file?
I've used that tool on a couple of test shots and then examined both the original and modified files with Photoshop and the modified file definitely shows the enhancement. It's not dramatic but is represented by a general lightening of the image. I think the Adjust panel would do a better job but with a G3 it won't be available to you.
All I can suggest is the usual maintenance procedures, repair permissions, clean out user caches and run the cron maintenance scripts ( you can use OnyX for the cache and cron scripts).

  • Batch enhance photos in iphoto

Is there any way to enhance (exposure, quick fixes, etc) mulitple photos at once in iphoto?  I have thousands of pictures that need to be adjusted and don't have time to edit them one by one.  I have the latest update on iphoto11 9.4.1
    Thanks for any ideas.

  • Enhanced photo doesn't save?

I have a picture in iPhoto and I used the 'enhance' feature on it.  I am happy with the results and would like to set the enhanced picture as my desktop image.  However, when I go to set that image as the desktop image, it ends up being the un-enhanced version of the picture?  I'm using iPhoto 09 (v 8.1.2) on Mac OS X 10.6.8.

Figured it out, I just exported the photo to my desktop and then used it from there and it works

  • Enhanced photos that disappear

Why do some photos that have been "enhanced" disappear to a black screen during a slideshow or by simply double clicking on their thumbnail to enlarge them? In order to see them they have to be "reverted to original.

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
    5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    If none of these help:
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Import enhanced photos from iPhone to iPhoto

How do I import enhanced (red-eye corrected, cropped, tinted) photos from my iPhone (iOS7) to iPhoto? I see the iPhone appearing in iPhoto but when I import the photos only the original is copied. The "enhanced" version do not show up in iPhoto.

    Hello bbb34vball,
Since that article didn't help, I would suggest trying the steps in this article next:
iOS: Unable to import photos to computer - Apple Support
If that doesn't resolve your issue, you may find more information by using another one of Apple's support resources - https://getsupport.apple.com/GetproductgroupList.action.

  • Problem uploading enhanced and crop photos

When I upload enhanced and crop photos from my iPad2 to Dropbox the original photo gets uploaded.
I am using the native iPad photo app on my iPad2 to enhance and crop  I see that there are others with similar problems but no real solution. Don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if this is Apple issue. Seems I have wasted a lot of time enhancing photo but can't share them.  Very annoying!!!
    Any ideas? Need Help ASAP.
    Thanks

Disregard lasts - I see the issue now having played around a little.  Do your crop, email it to yourself, click on the checkout arrow at top of email screen and hit save image.  Image is saved back to photoroll in cropped state.  The original cropped image appears in photoroll.  Click it, select image and then edit and revert.  It will go back back - but the saved photo from email stays as it is..
You can now upload the saved image to dropbox.  Hope this resolves your issue, Regards, Ct

  • Photos won't sync to devices with iPhoto enhancements like cropping

So here's what I'm doing: I'll take photos with my iPhone 4S, import to my Macbook with iPhoto, make adjustments and enhacements using iPhoto like cropping and color enhancements, then I'll add these enhanced photos to albums, then I'll try to sync the iPhoto album to my iPhone or iPad. After syncing, I can view the album photos on my devices but the photos will sometimes look like the original photo from my iPhone instead of the enhanced as it looks in iPhoto.
This only happens to some photos. And it only happens on syncing; if I set the album as an Apple TV screen saver or publish an album to Facebook through iPhoto, the photos publish fine with enhancements intact.
    What's going on?

The secret is to repair or rebuild the damaged library.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
