Enourmous Lag In GB with MB pro 2007 model
There is a serious lag in GB when I record with the direct input. I used to record my guitar all the time on my old iMac which had absolutely no problems but my macbook pro (2.2GHz) which is a WAYYYY better machine simply can;t hack it. If I use any sort of monitering at all, there is a half second lag. Even with no amp simulation, it is still there. This is very frustrating, please help.

If Disk Utility cannot fix it, you may need to apply different Utilities, such as Disk Warrior.
Some readers suggest that the best disk repair is to erase the drive and restore it from your Backups.
This might be a good time to consider getting a new drive to have on hand. This would allow you flexibility in copying, fixing, and (if needed) replacing the drive with the problems. -

What is a good solid state hard drive for a Macbook Pro (2007 model)? I imagine they're still expensive, but I'm curious which would be good picks if I were to go for it.
I am using the Corsair P256 (256 GB) SSD. It is actually a Samsung drive. It works well, but will only give you part of the speed advantage due to the fact that the MBP from 2007 only has a 1.5 GB/s interface, while newer MBPs have a 3.0 GB/s interface.
Impact on battery run time seems to only be an increase of 15-20%.
Boot time on my MBP is 40 seconds to login prompt. System seems very responsive. -

Generally signing out and signing in (signing out and back into the Creative Cloud application ) will fix this. If it isn't resolving the issue for you, let us know what you see and we can try something else.

Massive Lagging and issues with Premiere Pro CC 2014
For the last year we have been in post on our feature documentary. We have roughly 15TB of footage that is all stored on a raid coming into our edit suite via fibre (I don't know much of the technical information about it other than it's trustworthy and works for the other suites in our facility). We're in the final stretch and locking edit February 1. But the issues we're experiencing are making it very difficult to advance and fine tune the edit.
Over the last month or two performance with Premiere has been getting worse and worse. We are experience lag in actions when editing. It could be as simple as moving the mouse, clicking or copy/paste which can result in freezing or lag where we have to wait a few seconds or minutes for the program to catch up with itself.
We've been trying to figure out what is going on and if we can do anything to eliminate these issues. We have removed all cache files. We have eliminated any unnecessary or old sequences from our project file.
I will note that our project file is massive. It's currently about 1.15gb in size. Our sequence is a little hairy also. Not sure if this could be causing issues, but it hasn't in the past. See image below.

Sorry, but thats not completely true and by far not the correct answer:
The problems with random artifacts occurred with the introduction of a new version of H264 in CS6 but there you still had the option to export with the previous H264 Version via Media Encoder.
Since the previous H264 version is not available in CC, using CC7.2.2 is not a solution either.
BTW
Updating to CC and using the new Mac Pros with Mavericks is currently a total mess - no open cl rendering, random crashes, no usable h264 ... thanks adobe!!
... but we can track masks in premiere now ... wow! -
Error Code 30088-4 Installing OneNote 2013 with Office Pro 2007
Hi, I have been through most of the forums and have not found something related directly to this, but if it has been covered please direct me to the correct thread. I am installing OneNote 2013 on a computer running Windows 7 and Office Professional 2007.
I am running the installation as an administrator; however, each time I click the installer I get an error message stating there has been an issue and it gives me error code 30088-4. I have attempted the process of going to Control Panel > Programs and
Features, clicking on Office 2007, and selecting Change; however, no further windows will open once I click change so I am unable to click "Repair." I also went into Regedit and changed the
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office entry to use Office.old and re-attempted the installation, receiving the same error. I have not yet attempted uninstalling and reinstalling Office yet, and wanted to see if there were any other
fixes before I go that route.

Try repairing Office 2010 from Control Panel -> Programs and Features, then perform a clean boot to install Lync 2013, check if the issue persis.

Refurbished Mac Pros (2007 models)?
On average, about how old are the refurbished Mac Pro's on Apple's web site? Also, for those folks that have purchased refurbished systems, are you happy with your purchase? Cosmetically, was it obvious that what you purchased was refurbished or did it look like a new Mac?

Most often, you see the previous generation models in the refurb listings, but it depends on which model. iMacs, for example, usually have listings for both the white and aluminum versions. And what's listed solely depends on what Apple has processed through on customer returns, warranty replacements, etc. It's a safe bet that you won't see systems that are more than a year old, though.
Also, for those folks that have purchased refurbished systems, are you happy with your purchase? Cosmetically, was it obvious that what you purchased was refurbished or did it look like a new Mac?
I'm pleased with mine. Apart from the packaging, it looked like a new machine. There may have been a few smudges on the aluminum, but I'll overlook that as part of the deal.

hi all total noob here pls can a yone help....
i have a the new macbook pro running os x mountain lion software and i have a 3rd gen ATV, i have airplay active on the ATV but the little symbol isnt showing on my macbook, pls can anyone help a noob.... airplay works from my ipad and also iphone 4s to ATV no problems but i cannot get the macbook to mirror on my HDTV. am i doing something wrong? is there a setting i need to activate on the MBP?

AirPlay Mirroring is only available in OS X Mountain Lion > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404. First, open > About this Mac and check Version.
If it's 10.7, you have two possibilities:
1. Open App Store and purchase Mountain Lion. After upgrading, you will be able to use AirPlay Mirroring on System Preferences > Displays, or on the menu bar. Note that, if you bought your Mac after July 26th, 2012, you can upgrade to Mountain Lion for free > http://www.apple.com/osx/uptodate/
2. Use AirParrot > http://www.airparrot.com
If it's 10.8, open System Preferences > Displays, and select your Apple TV in "AirPlay Mirroring" -
Mac Pro 2007 No Power to Hard Drives
While changing hard drives in my Mac Pro 2007 (model 2,1) today, I apparently shorted something out and there is no longer power being provided to any of the hard drives or the super drive. On first boot attempt, the fans went into over drive and I smelled something burning, so I quickly turned it off and reinstalled the original drive.
I am able to boot up off a Yosemite installer USB flash drive and run Disk Utility - confirmed that none of the disks are visible. Everything else on the computer seems to be running fine.
Does this sound like a power supply issue or I have a fried something on the main logic board?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

MacBook Pro (2007) is running dangerously hot!
The MacBook Pro (2007 model with 17" screen) keeps running hot when I'm not doing much on it. The fans run around 5500RPM. Just recently, I tried running some big apps on it, so it was using the CPU a lot, and the CPU went to 221˚F (above boiling point!).
The laptop is on a flat, hard surface with plenty of ventalation. I tried propping the back up with an old cellphone, and that helped reduce the temperature a bit but did not fix the problem. Of course, I checked Activity Monitor (and iStat Menus) to verify that the CPU was not being used a lot (<10%) when I was not doing much on it. The ambient temperature is not very high (around 70˚F). I checked the vents, and they are dust-free.
The battery has already exploded in the past, and I had to replace it. That was probably caused by this heat problem. Does anyone know why this could be happening or how I can fix it?Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to bare metal from any of them.) Don’t erase the Lion recovery partition, if present. -

No, because the reason you cannot use Mountain Lion is of a hardware nature.

Problem with battery for MacBook Pro 2007
I have a problem with battery that was replaced during video card service 1.5 years ago
Battery health was around 80% and it stopped to work, I continued to use notebook with power cable and after week the battery become like this!
spoke with person in Apple store and got answer that it is not covered by Apple and I will need to buy another new battery.
For me it looks like manufacturing problem and I'm not expecting that after 1 year my battery will die like this! Thanks that it didn't explode!

I always relied on quality of the Apple products, it brought me to change all computers and phones to Apple brand. I was ready to pay extra for their products...
This battery has an Apple brand on it and I'm expecting that Apple will take some responsibility for it.
First battery on my MacBook Pro 2007 worked without any problem for 4 years, then it was replaced by Apple service tech person for unknown reason. This "new" battery failed just after ending of 1 year warranty coverage and even deformed in such scarry way. And now I don't have any option to ask if there is possibility that I'm experience a manufacturing defect! And I know that it is possible, internet is full of negative comments for these batteries!
Now I'm asking myself again, if it worst to buy Apple products? Are these products have proper quality? -

No, sorry. it won't work with the 2007 MBP. You can replace the optical drive yourself - just go shopping at OWC.

Downgrade Lion/Mountain Lion to Snow Leopard
1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer
loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the
Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the
mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status
of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then
the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART
info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on
the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions
from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS
Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the
partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on
the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups made while on Snow Leopard, then you may do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions. If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion/Mountain Lion files. -

I have a live login and MS ID 4 my SkyDrive account but I only use my MS touch with 8.1, SkyDrive and office 365 for mobility.
And I still like to backup to my own server!!!
What would be good is if I can put all the software licenses and product keys of the software and keep a record of my mac addresses for hardware and even static IP's in a file or a secure location within the MS online store.
That's where MS wants me to get my computing needs from in future and I will always be able to retrieve it in future but what about the $$$$$ I have spent on software, hardware and applications prior to now???

That's crap - This is a clean brand spanker install of Win7 and there was nothing b4 I put the oem drivers from Toshiba back on.
I looked at dozens of support pages and forum blogs and tried for hours to get a copy to download - including incognito and other logins but because my default PC name is also my MS Windows live ID the same error was repeated.
I keep away from the non MS sites for these things and with good reason - there were heaps of similar users with the same issue or very close to it that had downloaded from a supposed MS copy from eValue or digital river etc and the next
thing was total corruption of the OS.
EVENTUALLY I found a LIVE MS chat on a support site in the US and she gave me a link to a slightly older version which will need updating and some reg edit changes but so far, so good.
The point is - what a crock !
I should be able to just keep all my software, drivers, updates, service packs, and versions that I have upgraded in the MS store.
