Enter Functional area in KB31N
Hi,
Would anyone be knowing how to bring Functional area in KB31N?
I don't see the option of adding functional area in KB31N as a receiver in - - - SPRO>Controlling>Cost Center Accounting>Define Own Screen Variants for posting in Controlling.

Just a note that I am able to use functional area in FAGLSKF but it does not serve my purpose. CO Distribution cycle is not considering cost center/functional area entered in FAGLSKF.

Functional Area on FI Postings
Version ECC 6.0
What are the different places from where FI postings or CO postings can pickup the functional area from?
Few places that I can think of is from the cost center master, cost element master, manually given at the time of posting, set-up via substitution rules..
We have some postings going to incorrect functional area. Some of these postings are for cost center distributions but not going to the functional area used in distribution.Hello :
In configuration, SAP collect all the place where we can set up functional area the same as your understanding:
SPRO> FI > FI Global settings> company code> cost of sales accounting>Functional area > enter functional area
FI : FS00
CO: ka01
CO: cost center categories
CO: Internal Order type
SPRO> FI > FI Global settings> company code> cost of sales accounting>Functional area > Enhance determination of functional area

In IMG under the "Enterprise structure" you will define the Functional areas.
Also you can define:IMG-.>Fin.Accting basic settings->Define Func.Area.In the next step,you enter Functional area:IMG-.>Fin.Accting basic settings->enter Functional area.->enter Functiona area in GL master.
Once entered,the system will ask for Functional area for the relevant GL a/c.

Custom Search Help for Functional Area of Cost Centre(KS01/KS02)
Hi,
I need to implement a custom search help and custom enhancement for the field Functional Area in Basic Data tab of Cost Centre Create/Change(KS01/KS02) transactions. Details of the requirement are as below:
1. There will be a custom relation for the Cost Centre category and Functional Area which was maintained thru a SAP standard table TKA05 and a custom table.
2.When the relation to Cost Centre category and Functional Area is a one to one it exist in the TKA05 and if its one to many it will be maintained in the custom table.
3. The requirement is when the Cost Center to Functional area is maintained in table TKA05(One to One) in this case the corresponding Functional Area needs to be populated automatically after entering the cost centre and pressing a enter key by user.
4.When the Cost Centre Category and Functional area does not exist in table TKA05 and existing in custom table(One to Many) in this case the F4 should be enabled for user selection with the list of Functional area values corresponding to the cost centre category entered that are maintained in the custom table.
As per the functionality provided by SAP the input help(F4) of the field Functional area in Cost Center does not have any relation with Cost Centre Category. The existing F4 is from the Value Table(TFKB) attached to the domain of FKBER.
Please provide your valuable inputs to implement the above requirement. Your input will be rewareded.

as it just reads: you need to assign the standard cost center help to a z cost center field in component /SAPSRM/WDC_UI_DO_ACC.. which actually is fetched though the component /SAPSRM/WDC_UI_BACKEND_SH
so, if you see the component controller of SAPSRM/WDC_UI_DO_ACC you will see the component
USAGE_SH_F4 /SAPSRM/WDC_UI_BACKEND_SH
USAGE_SH_F4 /SAPSRM/WDC_UI_BACKEND_SH INTERFACECONTROLLER
so you can replicate the same functionality for your z field.
but can you clarify one thing.. why are you going for this z field in place of standard field ? -
Financial statement version:functional area

I created a financial statement version with functional area and run it(S_PL0_86000032 ) , most items are correct, however, the item which assigned function area always 0, this means that system can not get any data via function area. would anyone help me?

If you want to define a financial statement version with functional areas, these functions are limited. You cannot use the following functions:
Balance-Dependent Display
You cannot display functional areas dependent on the balance, that is, assign them to a different item dependent on the balance.
· Debit/Credit Shift
You cannot define items to which you have assigned functional areas as debit/credit shift items.
· Check for Completeness
You cannot use the check for completeness for financial statement versions with functional areas.
You also have to carry out the following additional activities:
1. When you enter the general data, set the Functional area permitted indicator.
You then have the option of assigning either accounts or functional areas to an item in your financial statement version.
2. Assign the required functional areas or functional area intervals to your P&L items

Satellite C660-17L - Some TouchPad functions are not working
My touch pad functions are not working:
- I can't use it to scroll up and down
- I can't use it to zoom.
What should I do to fix it?Yes the model number is Satellite C660-17L
And no I didn't install the touchpad driver.
I Have had this laptop for less than a month, I started it one day and tried to scroll but it didn't work.
Also i tried to search for the advanced settings under the mouse option but I couldn't find it.
When I enter the search directly into the search bar, the mouse option comes up but when I click on it, it asks me if I want to uninstall the synaptics driver.
I have no idea what this means but I click no and it comes up with all the mouse setting options.
What should I do now? -
WO in IW33 will not show Functional area # but IW32 will-causing CAT2 issue
Hello,
When staff is entering time in CAT2, they get an error stating that "Functional Area is Required."
In IW32 when we open the WO the Functional Area on the Additional Data tab is populated, but when we open the same WO in IW33 the Functional Area field is not populated.
Any suggestion on why this is occuring.

If you want to use cost of sales accounting, you have to use functional areas to sort your operating expenses.
You define your functional areas in Customizing under Financial Accounting ® Financial Accounting Global Settings ® Company code® Cost of Sales Accounting ® Define Functional Area.

G/L account
Cost element
Cost center
Orders
Order type
Internal orders
Sales order for make-to-order production and requirements class

During posting, the system derives the functional area from the master data of the assigned objects. For more information, see Derivation of the Functional Area.
Prerequisites
In order to be able to enter the functional area in the master data of the specified objects, the Functional area field in master data has to be ready for input. For this to be the case, cost of sales accounting for your company codes must either be active for preparation or active.
You make the settings in Customizing under Financial Accounting ® Financial Accounting Global Settings ® Company Code ® Cost of Sales Accounting ® Activate Cost of Sales Accounting for Preparation or Activate Cost of Sales Accounting.
The master data of some objects is not company code dependent, rather it is assigned to higher-level organizational units. In such cases, the functional area field is ready for input in all company codes of a client, provided that cost of sales accounting is active for preparation or active for at least one company code of the client.
In the following cases, the master data of an object is not company code-dependent:

You have the following options for entry of functional area in the master data of the specified objects:
Entry of functional area
You can enter the functional area provided that no postings exist for this object.

Where postings already exist, it is no longer possible to change the functional area.
Postings that have already been made cannot be changed automatically. The functional area is derived only in the case of new postings.
Where it is absolutely necessary to change the functional area for existing postings, you can find instructions on how to perform the change in Note 115840. -
FB50: Functional Area error
Hello Gurus-
We created a template using FB50 for our JE Revenue Expense with functional area. When we go to input something, changing amount, we get a Functional Area error F5394 is not permitted for account NNNNNN.
The only way we can get it to post is if we clear out the functional area. When this is done, the same functional area is posted?

After much time on this, the problem is when the user saves the account assignment via FB50. When the cost center is entered and saved. The functional area is automatically populated. Next time they access that variant, because the functional area is there, we get the error. The user then has to clear the functional area only for SAP to input back?
Is there a way around this? I've never seen this at any of my last projects.

Cost center planning by functional area

The client needs to do manual planning in CO (KP06) by cost center/cost element/fund/functional area. This data is later gets rolled up in FM to formulate the budget data. The client wants to enter all the account assignment manually except for functional area. They want that system automatically derive the functional area based on the cost center (one to one relationship). I tried the CO substitution but this functionality is only for actual data and not plan data. Any suggestion how I can derive the functional area in CO planning based on cost center?Hi,
Functional area is required for cost of sales accounting in Finance. It has got nothing to do with Cost Center planning. Functional area shall not be visible in controlling. Pl update this constraint to the client and go ahead with Cost center/cost element planning with necessary one to one relationship with Fund center, etc.

Functional Area update in FAGLFLEXP table

We have activated Cost of sales accounting in ECC6 and defined the Functional Area in the Cost Center.
When we do CO Planning using KP06, ths system is not updating COSP and FAGLFLEXP tables with functional area.
Request to know if anyone knows how to populate functional area in these tables for CO Planning values.

Yes we have activated the Scenario of Functional Area.
The FA is getting populated for the actual values but not for planned values.
We do not enter FA in planning as it is supposed to be derived from Cost Center for which we are doing the planning.

Function Area derive from cost center
Hi, here is a question.
The function area was input in the cost center master data. Cost center A ( Function area 1000), Cost center B (Function area 2000)
Then creat a PO with Account Assignment Category(K), Item Category (B), input the cost center A in the PO.
When I do MIRO, I change the cost center (A TO B), but the function is still 1000, not change to 2000. But if I delete the Function area in MIRO first, then change the cost center, the function area update to 2000.
There is no default function area in GL account and cost element, also no substitution.
Is it standard in SAP? I want the Function area can be updated with the cost center. Any method?Here is what SAP help says about this.
Functional area field for postings - ready for input?
You can enter the functional area directly when entering G/L account postings, provided the "Functional area" field is shown in the field status group of the G/L account.
SAP recommends that you do not show the "Functional area" field in the field status group of the G/L account, but rather that you have the system determine the functional area of the account assignment. This eliminates the risk of the user entering incorrect functional areas.
You said you have functional area in cost center master data. When you post documents, do you get func. area from the cost center automatically or not? -
Functional Area does not allow to change in CJ20N initially
We are on ECC 5.0 an have made fields Functional Area as required field along with other fields (e.g. Company code, Profit Center, Dates etc.) in Project Definition.
During project creation, all the required fields in Project Definition shows up for edit except the Functional Area. Functional Area field is greyed out. After I populate all the required fields, Functional Area fields shows up for edit before save.

Company code is a superior structure element and as such you need to define it first and than go ahead for selecting Functional area.
Due to this logic, first system prompts you to choose company code,profit center etc. and once the values are entered into the internal table for project structure and project controlling it provides option to choose lower level structural elements like Functional area.
