Entity primary key conflict

I created the following table :
Table1: primary key:pk
Table2:primary key:(pk,pk1) and foreign key(pk) ex:table (pk,pk1,a,b,c... ) are the columns
table3:primary key:(pk,pk2) and foreign key(pk,pk1) ex:(pk,pk1,pk2,h,i,j,) are the columns
when trying to insert in Table 3 the pk2 is not inserted the value is always null.
i couldn't find what the problem with this table structure the entity class work fine but when i am invoking tableEntity.getCollection.add(table2entity);
then invoke persist...
this one is not added.
any help will be very appreciated

  • Primary Key Conflicts While Inserting Rows

    Hi,
    I am inserting some rows into a table which has primary key constraints on columns 1,2,3. I have set the key columns in my program to 1,2,3. When I try to insert a row it throws a syncresolver exception stating that there is a key conflict. But i don't understand why it is doing this because there is no conflict. I can remove the primary key constraints off the sql table (but still leave them on in the program) and it will insert everything correctly.
    Any ideas?

    By the way, the program inserts the first row, but not the second. Based on my trials with the original program I am working on the syncproviderexception handler seems to have a conflict on insert row on Switch column. This is why I believe java is not interpreting the PKs as a group but rather as individually.

  • Error While Deploying A CMP Entity Bean With A Composite Primary Key

    Hello all,
    I have a problem deploying CMP Entity beans with composite primary keys. I have a CMP Entity Bean, which contains a composite primary key composed of two local stubs. If you know more about this please respond to my post on the EJB forum (subject: CMP Bean Local Stub as a Field of a Primary Key Class).
    In the mean time, can you please tell me what following error message means and how to resolve it? From what I understand it might be a problem with Sun ONE AS 7, but I would like to make sure it's not me doing something wrong.
    [05/Jan/2005:12:49:03] WARNING ( 1896):      Validation error in bean CustomerSubscription: The type of non-static field customer of the key class
    test.subscription.CustomerSubscriptionCMP_1530383317_JDOState$Oid must be primitive or must implement java.io.Serializable.
         Update the type of the key class field.
         Warning: All primary key columns in primary table CustomerSubscription of the bean corresponding to the generated class test.subscription.CustomerSubscriptionCMP_1530383317_JDOState must be mapped to key fields.
         Map the following primary key columns to key fields: CustomerSubscription.CustomerEmail,CustomerSubscription.SubscriptionType. If you already have fields mapped to these columns, verify that they are key fields.Is it enough that a primary key class be serializable or all fields have to implement Serializable or be a primitive?
    Please let me know if you need more information to answer my question.
    Thanks.
    Nikola

    Hi Nikola,
    There are several problems with your CMP bean.
    1. Fields of a Primary Key Class must be a subset of CMP fields, so yes, they must be either a primitive or a Serializable type.
    2. Sun Application Server does not support Primary Key fields of an arbitrary Serializable type (i.e. those that will be stored
    as BLOB in the database), but only primitives, Java wrappers, String, and Date/Time types.
    Do you try to use stubs instead of relationships or for some other reason?
    If it's the former - look at the CMR fields.
    If it's the latter, I suggest to store these fields as regular CMP fields and use some other value as the PK. If you prefer that
    the CMP container generates the PK values, use the Unknown
    PrimaryKey feature.

    you will have to create a sequence and a trigger

    /this sequence will guarantee that each requested number is unique
    the trigger will select from this sequence and insert the obtained value in the new record

    this will always take the value from the sequence, even if you already provided a value yourself
    (otherwise you will first have to test if :NEW.<column name> is null, but I wouldn't do this for a key column.
    if you need the generated key back for further processing (inserting it into a child table for example), you can use the returning clause on the insert statement
    see the oracle documentation for more information about sequences, triggers and the returning clause

    Hi Juan,
    Sounds like you've defined either a java.lang.String where it should have
    said Java.util.Vector (or the other way around) in the part of the
    deployment descriptor that defines your custom finder method parameter.

  • Entity bean with another class as primary key generator class

    Hi All,
    I have a CMP entity bean in which I generate the primary key using my own class know as unique id generator.
    I use it in ejbCreate method in the following manner
    public Long ejbCreate(HospitalData hospitalData) throws CreateException{
              Long myid = new Long(UniqueIdGenerator.getId());
              System.out.println("My id generated ====== "+myid);
              this.hospitalid = myid;
              System.out.println("My id generated ====== "+this.hospitalid);
              System.out.println("Came in ejbCreate method of HospitalEJB");
              this.hospitalname = hospitalData.getHospitalname();
              return null;
    Can you tell me how I map this primary key in my ejb-jar.xml and jbosscmp-jdbc.xml.

    I am trying to develop an entity bean attached to a key which have a
    composite key using Primary Key Class. When I use the findByPrimaryKey
    method of the bean it throws an exception as follows,I notice that you are using the reference CMP plugin.
    at com.netscape.server.ejb.SQLPersistenceManager.find(Unknown Source)I'm also willing to bet that you may have created your own primary key class
    with a single field, rather than using the fields type as a primitive
    primary key class. If you do this, then SQLPersistenceManager will break.
    It is badly written, and has some stupid assumptions. The one I remember
    the most is that if you only have one primary key field, then
    SQLPersistenceManager assumes you have used a primitive type such as
    java.lang.String or java.lang.Integer, to represent it, rather than creating
    your own <Enity>Pk.java file.
    SQLPersistenceManager works for toy examples, but in general I would say it
    is broken and unusable. Either use BMP, or splash out the money for Coco
    Base from Thought Inc. Currently the only CMP plugin for iPlanet App server,
    other than the reference implementation, that I know of.

  • Creating entity beans with auto numbered primary key

    I have two entity bean with a CMR between them. I am successfully creating the first one but when I try and create the child entity bean I get a NullPointerException.
    Now I think this is because the gernerated code tries to get the primary key of the created entity bean and this is not set as it is set using a auto number in the database (An oracle sequence and trigger).
    Is there anyway i can get round this problem?
    Thanks in advance,
    Adrian

    This is the auto generated code:
         public dmd.sync.ejbs.entity.AppliancePackInfoLocal create_Local(dmd.sync.dataobjects.dto.AppliancePackInfoDTO appliancePackInfoDTO, dmd.sync.ejbs.entity.AmppLocal amppLocal) throws javax.ejb.CreateException, java.rmi.RemoteException {
              BeanO beanO = null;
              dmd.sync.ejbs.entity.AppliancePackInfoLocal result = null;
              boolean createFailed = false;
              boolean preCreateFlag = false;
              try {
                   beanO = super.createBeanO();
                   dmd.sync.ejbs.entity.AppliancePackInfoBean bean = (dmd.sync.ejbs.entity.AppliancePackInfoBean) beanO.getEnterpriseBean();
                   preCreateFlag = super.preEjbCreate(beanO);
                   bean.ejbCreate(appliancePackInfoDTO, amppLocal);
                   Object ejsKey = keyFromBean(bean);
                   result = (dmd.sync.ejbs.entity.AppliancePackInfoLocal) super.postCreate_Local(beanO, ejsKey, true);
                   bean.ejbPostCreate(appliancePackInfoDTO, amppLocal);
                   super.afterPostCreate(beanO, ejsKey);
    It must be falling over on the last line as it calls the ejbPostCreate fine.

  • Entity bean with primary key generated by trigger

    Hi,
    We have a table(oracle) with one column as primary key,
    but the primary key is generated by trigger every time
    a new row is inserted into this table, inside the trigger,
    it uses oracle sequence to get the next val.
    If we want to use entity bean with it, what should we specify, it's not application-managed primay key, it's
    not auto-generated primary key either. How can we resolve
    it without change the database part.
    Any thought is appreciated.
    Thanks
    afang

    The code is already there with JDBC call inserting
    into the table, the inserting trigger then will generate
    sequence key and being inserted into primary key column.
    Now wondering if it's possible to change the code to use entity bean but without modifying the trigger (since it contains other business logics).

  • Deploying BMP Entity Bean with primary key calss

    Hi,
    I am using EJB 2.0 with and websphere studio 5.0 and database is sql server 2000.
    My BMP Entity bean has a primary key class.From my client I am invoking the Entity Bean by calling it's findbyprimarykey method.
    The home interface of my findbyprimarykey method returns a class of type Remote.But in the Entity Bean class,the return type is the primarykey class type.
    My problem is invoking this findbyprimarykey from the client to get the remote interface so that the other business methods of the entity bean can be called.
    The control goes into the ejbFindbyPrimaryKey but when it is returing from the Entity Bean class,it gives a remote exception (as the return type in Entity Bean class and Home interface are different for the findbyprimarykey method).
    I think that somewhere in the deployment decriptor in my websphere,i have to specify the primarykey class type,which i am missing out and hence getting the error.
    Please help me out with your advice and solution.
    Thanks

  • Composite Primary Key in M:N CMP Entity Bean Relationship

    Dear Sir/Madam,
         We are creating an Enterprise Application for our institute using EJB 2.0 specifiactions. In the course of developement, we are facing a problem in writing the CMP Entity Beans with EJB Relationships.
         We are having many to many relationship between two beans such that the primary key of one Entity Bean (let's call it A), serves as the foreign key of another Entity Bean (let's call it B). Further, this primary key of A as foreign key in B, participates in the composite key of B.
         The EJB Specifications require that the primary key field(s) of any bean (B, in our case) declared in the Primary Key class should be the subset of the 'cmp-field' declared in the deployment descriptor for that bean. As I said earlier, we have many to many relationship at play. Hence, we require to keep the foerign key in the 'cmr-field' in lieu of 'cmp-field'. In short, the component of primary key is in 'cmr-field' while, it is needed in both 'cmp-field' and 'cmr-field'. That's perfect from Database point of view but illogical from CMP Entity Bean's view.
         How can we write the deployment descriptor for such a CMP (BMP is working fine for above scenario) Entity Bean? Also, how can we write the Primary Key class? The problem is not just to find the solution, but find under the hood of EJB 2.0 specifications.
         Please help.

    I think you should realise that it would not be convenient to use CMP for everything. It is difficult to define complex relations using CMP. Mostly BMP os preferd since it gives the flexibility for the bean developer.

  • CMP entity bean with compound primary key

    I'm trying to use a compound primary key in a CMP entity bean. I've created the custom primary key class okay, and I have the prim-key-class set in ejb-jar.xml. My client app gets the home reference okay, but when it tries to find an entity, I get the exception "SQLException: Incorrect syntax near '/'."
    I think I'm having trouble deploying this in OC4J. Is there a sample orion-ejb-jar.xml deployment for a custom, compound primary key somewhere?
    Many thanks for any help.
    Ernie

    Never mind. I solved my problem. Thanks.

  • CMP Entity Bean With Primary Key of int

    Is it valid to have a CMP Entity Bean (v1.1) where the primary key is defined as the primitive 'int' instead of a true Java class?
    Thanks in advance,
    Marc

    Hi,
    Ur primary key in the EJB cant be a primitive data type. If the primary key in the table is a int,
    then u will hv [bold] java.lang.Integer [bold] as the datatype in Entity Bean. If u hv further queries write me at [email protected]

    value entered in client application could not be passed from session bean to entity bean.
    it is a jtextfield thta capture string as input which is the customer id. it is also the primary key. session bean managed to get the value but it was then became null when i pass to entity bean.
    may i know wat could be the problem that is causing this?
    application server not suporting this feature???? or it is th elogic problem .. or i have miss ot some code somewhere.?

    Sounds like a code problem.

  • Compund primary key in entity bean

    hi,
    can somebody please explain how to use the compound primary key in entity beans? i have got a database table, the key of which consists of three fields, which I assign as PK when setting up the entity bean. In turn I get a compoundPK class, but without get/set-methods - is it necessary to write own get/set-methods within this class?
    In the bean class itself I get a compundPK-create() method - but what is the use of it? actually, in my findByPK-method I need the PK already.
    Hints appreciated - btw, help.sap.com is not very helpful in this case...
    regards, matthias

    WebLogic Server supports mapping a cmr field to the primary key.
