Environment variable and spring

Hi all, we are getting this when trying to run our app in Oracle 904:

<env-entry-type>java.lang.String</env-entry-type>
<env-entry-value>applicationContext.prod.xml</env-entry-value>
</env-entry>
Any ideas,

u need display in order to have a graphical env with font, raster and all this information is taken from the ip address to which u have set the DISPLAY
Also make sure xwindows is running. U can check whether DISPLAY has been configured properly by running xclock

  • Simple question about environment variables and setting the class path???

    ok I have been trying for a few months now ontrying to set the class path..
    I work with windows vista..
    on the environment variables user variables,
    I have the name of the variable as class
    and the value as C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_04\bin;.
    where javac is...
    on the system variables I have
    its name as class
    and the value as C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_04\bin;.
    why is this not reading javac

    The PATH environment variable should have as an entry the directory containing your javac executable. The CLASSPATH should have have entries which define your library directories and entries which are your jar file libraries. In the early days, probably the only CLATHPATH entry you will need will be a '.' to indicate the current directory.
    The Java tutorial covers ALL of this.

    I'm curious too.  I could at least *speculate* on how it could go wrong the other way around: if the envoked process spawns a new process that inherits a more general environment than the parent's, the first could work and the second could fail - but these results indeed should not happen.
    Test code as evidence that the variables are passed in the same way:
    #include <stdio.h>
    int main(int argc, char **argv, char **env) {
    char **envp;
    for (envp = env; envp && *envp; envp++) printf("%s\n", *envp);
    return 0;
    Basically this is a very basic `env'.  It shows all environment variables known to the process.  No matter how they are set, they are all placed in env.
    NOTE: most programs will use getenv() rather than the extra parameter to main(), but this is meant to test what is passed where.

  • Shell environment variables and apple apps

    Hi Does anyone know how to pass environmental variables to apple applications. For example I have an an app that will automatically execute a shell script on receipt of certain downloads but that script calls another script that has some embedded functions. The scripts all work from command line since I have all my paths and EVs defined in my .tchsrc but the app isn't run from the same shell.
    Any clues as to a work around.
    thanks

  • R12, Environment Variables on Windows, and OBIEE

    Dear Experts,
    I've managed to install R12 on Windows.
    Now, in the global environment variable, Path, the user Oracle has a number of directories in its default PATH, starting with the Oracle apps middle tier.
    C:\oapps\apps\tech_st\10.1.2\bin;
    C:\oapps\apps\tech_st\10.1.2\jdk\jre\bin\classic;
    C:\oapps\apps\tech_st\10.1.2\jdk\jre\bin;
    C:\oapps\apps\tech_st\10.1.2\jlib;
    C:\oapps\apps\tech_st\10.1.3\bin;
    C:\oapps\db\tech_st\11.1.0\bin;
    C:\Windows\system32;
    C:\Windows;
    I notice that there are .cmd scripts that set the Path.
    This script sets the path to look in: c:\oapps\db
    cd C:\oapps\db\tech_st\11.1.0
    VIS_black.cmd
    echo %PATH%
    C:\oapps\db\tech_st\11.1.0\perl\5.8.3\bin\MSWin32-x86-multithread\;
    C:\oapps\db\tech_st\11.1.0\bin;
    This script sets the path to look in: c:\oapps\apps
    set PATH=""
    cd c:\oapps\apps\apps_st\appl
    VIS_black.cmd
    echo %PATH%
    C:\oapps\apps\apps_st\appl\au\12.0.0\bin;
    I'd like to install OBIEE on the same server. Obviously, I don't want any path conflicts. And, OBIEE uses a different version of java.
    1)
    Do all these Apps directories need to remain in the global PATH environment variable? Or, can the directories be removed from the path, and the scripts can be relied on to set the appropriate variables?
    Thanks a lot!

    if you want global settings (always present, even after reboot), you have to edit the autoexec.bat file, e..g
    SET CLASSPATH=c:\myclasses
    you can set environment variables temporarility in a DOS shell using the same command.
    if possible, you should avoid the CLASSPATH environment variable, and use the -cp or -classpath option for java and javac. This helps a lot to solve classpath confusions.

  • X11 environment variables on MacBook Pro

    Hi
    I have just got my new MacBook Pro and have installed Gimp to run using x11 that came on the apple installation disks however I can't seem to get the xterm to configure correctly.
    GIMP is installed under /sw/bin but the default PATH for x11 does not include this location so I added PATH=$PATH:/sw/bin:/sw/sbin to a newly created .bash_profile. But x11 did not seem to use this file although terminal worked OK.
    After doing a bit of research, I then created a .bashrc file with the PATH defined and changed the .bash_profile to source .bashrc with no other entries.
    Again this worked OK for Terminal but now when I type 'echo $Path' in an x11 xterm the PATH displays two entries for /sw/bin & /sw/sbin. i.e.
    $ echo $PATH
    /usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/sw/bin:/sw/sbin:/sw/bin:/sw/sbin
    Any ideas why? and how can I correct it?
    Macbook Pro 17   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Sorry this was a bit brief; I think I was still asleep when I typed it.
    The reasons are these:
    1. Many fink programs require environment variables and other settings. When you source that init.sh file, it ensures everything is set up to work out of the box. (Among the things it does is to in turn source every relevant file in /sw/etc/profile.d -- take a look in it to see what, if anything, is in there). There is also some code to keep your path trimmed properly, so you don't get repeats pasted on.
    2. Bash is unique in that either .bashrc or .bash_profile, but not both, get sourced. In a rooted X11 environment, everything works properly, but on OS X, where X11 is "rootless," it leads to unexpected behavior like what you saw. As long as you put everything into one file and then tell the other one to source its contents, you should be ok.
    You can also run X11 stuff from Apple's terminal, provided you somewhere in a startup file have something to set the DISPLAY variable, usually to .0.
    I've put more discussion of these things here

  • Not able to get SSL related CGI Environment Variables?

    We are currently using APEX 3.2.0.x, OHS 10.1.3.x, and 11gR1 on linux. The APEX application we've been developing will be accessed via SSL and x509 certificates such that a client certificate is passed from a user's browser to the OHS, the information will be read from the certificate, and if the user's cert information exists in a user table associated with the application, they will have the role they've been assigned as an existing user within the application. Otherwise, the user will be a guest and have a minimum role accessing the application.
    We are certainly not guru's when it has come to setting up and configuring SSL and certs, but we have gotten to the point where we have all of the required certs created and installed, and the client cert passes it's information successfully to the OHS to get to the "home" page of the application via the Rewrite statement in the httpd.conf/ssl.conf that points to the appropriate https url. We are now at the point where we need the APEX application page to read the cert information, and this is where we are having problems.
    We have created an "On Load - Before Header" process and temporary item on the "home" page to display CGI environment variables to see what we're getting. It's a PLSQL Anonymous block like this:
    DECLARE
    lUserName VARCHAR2(100);
    BEGIN
    SELECT NVL(owa_util.get_cgi_env('REMOTE_USER'),'NOT POPULATED') INTO lUserName FROM DUAL;
    :P1_REMOTE_USERNAME := lUserName;
    END;
    We can grab any of the cgi environment variables that are listed in the OHS mod_plsql User's Guide. We cannot seem to be able to get any of the SSL CGI environment variables though. We are adding the SSL variables to the dads.conf via the PlsqlCGIEnvironmentList parameter (ex: PlsqlCGIEnvironmentList SSL_CLIENT_S_DN_CN) and bouncing the OHS as needed. Unfortunately, we have not been successful in getting any of them to show up in the item on the APEX page.
    As far as we can tell, we have the SSL/OHS/Certs configured, but may be there is another SSL directive or some other configuration item that we've missed that needs to be set in order for SSL CGI environment variables to be available to the owa_util.get_cgi_env function. If anyone can tell us what we may have missed, it would be appreciated.
    thanks
    bob

    Hey John,
    what we have found that we were not sure of is that we need to use Rewrite rules and conditions in the ssl.conf to grab the ssl cgi environment variables and "put" them into the request header to hold them like this:
    RewriteCond %{SSL:SSL_SERVER_S_DN} (.*)
    RewriteRule .* - [E=SSLS_DN:%1]
    RequestHeader add X-SSL-SERVER-S-DN %{SSLS_DN}e
    Then in the dads.conf put the request header reference in there with the plsqlcgienvironmentlist parameter like this:
    PlsqlCGIEnvironmentList HTTP_X_SSL_SERVER_S_DN
    Restart the OHS, and then grab the HTTP_X_SSL_SERVER_S_DN variable(s) via the owa_util.get_cgi_env in the APEX page to pull the value out with an anonymous block in an On Load - Before Header process like this:
    DECLARE
    lUserName VARCHAR2(100);
    BEGIN
    SELECT NVL(owa_util.get_cgi_env('HTTP_X_SSL_SERVER_S_DN'),'NOTHING HERE') INTO lUserName FROM DUAL;
    END;
    It's the Rewrite rules and putting them into the request header that we were not totally sure about as far as how and where you put the environment variables to make them accessible to the dads.conf with the PlsqlCGIEnvironmentList parameter that in turn makes them accessible to APEX. We're still not 100% sure this is the correct method, but it's working. We don't recall reading in any of the APEX docs, APEX forum threads, or other documentation about needing Rewrite rules and conditions to put the cgi environment variables into the request header to make them accessible to APEX. So, that seems to be our missing piece of the puzzle here.
    Anyway, I think we're okay for the moment, and may be this thread will help someone else out in the future. Thanks for your help John, and will give you a helpful plug on the forum for this thread. BTW, I do have your book, so it was nice to see someone as advanced with APEX as yourself reply to the posting.
    Thanks
    Bob

  • How to load a class , which isn't in the classpath environment variable.

    Hi, you folks.
    I have one problem. I want to load a class, which isn't in the classpath
    environment variable and I don't want to put into classpath. which method
    JVM can use to load it?
    Waitting for your sage advice.

    You will have to write your own ClassLoader, or use something like URLClassLoader (I've never used this myself, but I've seen it mentioned elsewhere in this forum). Look here.

    Without using environment variable everything works fine . (i.e when I give SDK's dir path like ../../  i.e relative to my project)

    There is workaround : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/12629395/weblogic-using-environment-variable-double-quotes-in-arguments-in-server
    Just posting here for reference. Let's see if we get a different answer from anyone else.

  • JAVA ENVIRONMENTAL VARIABLE AND PATH SETTINGS

    Hi all,
    I am having a pecuilar problem with java environment variables and setting the path.
    I am trying to install and check the instalation using some pre-provided batch commands from Open GTS.
    The error log is as below .
    ** Found 2 Error(s)!
    1) The 'PATH' environment variable points to the JRE, rather than the JDK.
       [Reason: The 'PATH' environment variable points to the JRE (Java Runtime
         Environment), rather than the JDK (Java Developer Kit).  The JDK already
         contains the JRE, so a separate JRE insallation  is not necessary.]
       [Fix: Set the 'PATH' environment variable to point to the JDK installation bi
    n
         directory.]
    2) 'JAVA_HOME' does not match the Java installation 'PATH' directory 'C:\Program
    Files\Java\jre6'.
       [Reason: The version of Java referenced in the executable 'PATH' environment
         variable does not match 'JAVA_HOME'.]
       [Fix: Make sure both the 'JAVA_HOME' and 'PATH' environment variables point t
    o the
         same installed JDK.]
    No warnings reported
    Further more these may help understand better

    I do not understand from where does the
    C:\Program Files\Java\jre6 path get set.
    Please suggest..

  • Getting a Unix environment variable

    Hi, everyone.
    I need to use a Unix enviroment variable from a form. This form
    is gonna use this variable in order to be the path of another
    form who is gonna be called.
    In other words:
    CALL_FORM( $unix_var + '/forms/myform_name' );
    unix_var is what I want to get.
    Thanks a lot in advance,
    Eduardo

    It worked, Michael. Thanks a lot!
    To the documentation guys at Oracle... This is how you define
    the TOOL_ENV package in the Forms' help:
    "The TOOL_ENV package allows you to interact with Oracle
    environment variables by retrieving their values for use in
    subprograms."
    Suggestion: ...with Oracle environment variables AND OTHER
    SYSTEM OPERATION ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES...
    because this narrow definition can prevent people for trying to
    use it to retrieve other NON-ORACLE environment variable via
    this package. Thanks.

  • Can i use a environment variable inside a *.sql file?

    Hello,
    I want to create a external table.
    So i am using the command
    create or replace directory abc as 'C:\folder'.... inside a sql file.
    Now i want the path "C:\folder" to be dynamic as i am using this path in many other places also inside the sql file.So i thought to create a environment variable and put this value there.I tried using as %PATH% but it gives error..... where %PATH%=C:\folder.
    Can i use a environment variable inside a *.sql file?
    But how to do that or is there any other way.

    Actually what i want is the path "C:\folder" is not fixed it can be anything which i may not know the user may decide it later. Not supported. A directory object refers to a specific physical location (directory/folder) on a file system. Not a path.
    You can work around it by (creating and) using a function (running under a super user schema with authid definer privs). The caller (e.g. schema scott ) calls it with a physical path. E.g. GetDirectoryObject( 'C:\folder\2010\feb\week4' ).
    This function determines if there is an existing directory object for the path. If not, it uses a wildcard search to determine if there are any directory objects for parents in the path (e.g. for C:\folder\2010\feb or C:\folder\2010 or C:\folder ).
    If it finds a directory object, it interrogates the data dictionary to determine if the caller, schema scott for example, has read/write access on that directory object. If it has, it creates a new directory object and grants the caller read/write access to it. The function then returns the name of the directory object to the caller.
    The caller thus do not deal directly with directory objects. The function returns the object name given a physical path as input. Also, only a single base directory needs to be created (e.g. for C:\folder ) and access granted to the schema on it. Any sub-directory in that base directory can now be dynamically accessed by the schema.

  • Within JBuilder, Reading Environment Variable From a BATCH File

    Hi ppl:
    Following my scenario without JBuilder. I would like to be able to do the same with JBuilder, so that I can run my application from within.
    1. In the DOS window, I run a config.bat file that sets up a whole bunch of environment variables and then calls another script file that sets up another whole bunch to set up environment for a third party API (C++ based).
    2. My application uses native methods to call the third party API which uses the environment variables set in step 1.
    I know how to set the environment varialbes in JBuilder (Project Parameters, VM). However, I don't know how I can call a batch file that does the same. I don't want to set up the third party variables in JBuilder manually, since the script that sets them up checks on a few things to customize the environment.
    I also know how to run a batch file from JBuilder, but that does not set the environment for the application. It seems like the batch file is run in a separate process.
    Any ideas?

    It seems like the batch file is run in a separate process.Yes, it is. That's a design feature of Windows. The environment variables that a process creates are available to any subprocess, but when the process ends, the environment variables vanish. That's because they are part of the process, not global variables as you might wish.
    So that's why your non-JBuilder scenario works; your C++ program is running in a subprocess of the process that defined the environment variables. And your JBuilder scenario doesn't work because the batch file it runs is in a process whose parent process is Windows, not JBuilder.

  • DISPLAY ENVIRONMENT VARIABLE SETTING

    Hi All,
    After setting the Display Environment variable and running netca
    I am getting below error:
    Oracle Net Services Configuration:
    java.lang.NullPointerException
    at oracle.ewt.lwAWT.BufferedApplet.<init>(Unknown Source)
    at oracle.net.ca.NetCA.<init>(Unknown Source)
    at oracle.net.ca.NetCA.main(Unknown Source)
    Oracle Net Services configuration failed. The exit code is -1
    Can anyone tell me what i will do

    And TEST-SERVER is the name of your local PC?
    the DISPLAY variable needs to be set to the IP of a X-Windows server, the database server will be client to this server!
    I know many people here don't know anything about Oracle nor Unix, and also don't want to learn it, and at the same time are SHOUTING all the time.
    This is getting terribly annoying.
