EP5 - EP6

I installed the plugin for Eclipse for EP6 and I imported one iview developed in EP5. But I have a lot of errors like:
The import com.sapportals.htmlb cannot be resolved.
The import com.sap.mw.jco cannot be resolved.
What I have to do, may I have to recreate all these iviews in PDK EP5 with all these packages or there is another way more simple to do?
Thanks a lot
Maria

There are two problems that you can faces :
1. The API has changed
Solution: Check the API for the new package/classname/method change
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sapportals.km.docs/documents/a1-8-4/netweaver javadocs.htm
2. The portal project doesn't have any reference to the jar files needed. You need to add some of the jar files from the portal to the classpath reference to your eclipse project. Here it looks like you need to copy htmlb.jar and sapjco.jar (do a search on the portal. Generally you can do a search for *.jar with text <ClassName> and you will find the correct jar file (open in winzip to check the package name)
Hope this helps

  • Architectural differences between Ep5.0 and Ep6.0

    Hi Expert,
Is there any document that specifies the differences in the EP5.0 and EP6.0 architecture.
It seems that the only difference is just the switch framework containing the extension set and Industry Solution extension...it looks very strange!
Have you any idea about other differencies?
    Many thanks in advance
    Fabio

    Hi Fabio,
The difference between EP5 & EP6 is that there is no PDK beneath  EP. The "PDK" for EP6 is a business package (a role with some content) to import into EP6. From there, you can upload components (PAR files), delete them etc., and you have the doc's that you know from PDK 5.0.
There is also a different Eclipse plugin.
Portal components for EP5 and EP6 differ in many points, for example there is a xml deployment descriptor in EP6 where in EP5 you had the profile property files.
    Also some APIs have changed.
But you can import EP5 par files into Eclipse with the EP6 plugin.
    Regards,
    Pooja.

  • Colors in News Browser

    Hi
I have an KM-navigation iView which is using the lauout set for News Browser. I have further diferent XML-Forms which again have a unique color. The meaning is to display the xml fomrms with diferent colors in the same iView.
But when I have set a color for each of the xml forms, only one color is shown for the whole iView.
Another way around is to have an own xml form for each color variant where the labels have a background color - but I have not found the properties to set this - only text color
    Regards
    Kay-Arne

    Hi Kay-Arne,
In the XMLFB, the form itself has properties.
One of these is style. Here you might try using
a "UR" style to get yout colors. Apart from the
options "border" "no border" "background color" etc,
you can enter the name of a style class. The trick
is picking a good one. We do not recommend using styles
directly, but it is possible. Style class name can,
and do (e.g., Ep5 ->EP6), change. They may also be
theme dependent. The HTML Editor can generate style-based
background colors. I suggest you create an HTML file
with that and look a the source to identify the style
    classes used.
Like I said, though, use of styles directly is not
    guaranteed for all future releases.
An example of a style class is "urSTSelRo"
    I hope that makes sense,
    Regards,

  • BP for Learning vs. Portal vs. ERP Versions? Help Please.

    Hello all,
I've got the documentation in front of me that has me thinking...
    NW04s>EP7>BP for Learning Release 1 which means <b>SAP ERP 2005  ECC6.0</b>???
I'm trying to get a definitive answer as to whether deciding to go to NW04s/EP7 sets into motion a required switch to the latest Learning Business Package (Release 1) which is only supported for SAP ERP 2005 (ECC6.0). If I take this at face value, a switch to NW2004s requires an upgrade to SAP ERP 2005 (if we wish to continue running the Learning Solution). Is this the case?
Release 60.1.20 of the BP for Learning only claims support for EP5 & EP6. Is this the case?
    Thanks,
    Doug

  • To develop portal components

    Hi Friends,
Recently i got access to SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 server of our parent company in US. Locally i have developed some portal components using Tomcat_PDK and Eclipse.
How to deploy these portal components into the SAP EP?.
Can anybody please explain me the functionality of the tabs available in SAP EP Server homepage?.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Tamilarasan.

    Hi Tamilarasan,
the first difference between EP5 & EP6 for developers is that there is no PDK beneath th EP. The "PDK" for EP6 is a business package (a role with some content) to import into EP6. From there, you can upload components (PAR files), delete them etc., and you have the doc's that you know from PDK 5.0.
There is also a different Eclipse plugin!
Portal components for EP5 and EP6 differ in many points, for example there is a xml deployment descriptor in EP6 where in EP5 you had the profile property files.
Also some APIs have changed of course.
But you can import EP5 par files into Eclipse with the EP6 plugin, so this would be a starting point.

  • Problems to delploying of the PAIR

I have PAR created to be used in the PDK 5.0, but I want to use it in WAS 6.40.
Since I can do deploy of the PAR and call to the properties correct in WAS or using SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio?

    Hi Christian,
the structure of the par files has changed between EP5 & EP6. One of the main differences is that the "profile" files have been deleted and all such information is stored within the new portalapp.xml
There are different ways to migrate such content. For having the possibility (and eventually the need for APIs having changed) to maintain your components, I would prefer importing the EP5 PAR into NWDS, and from this on, delete all conflicts and then deploy. I hope (but I also expect, but haven't tested yet) that NWDS imports EP5 PARs reasonably (at least Eclipse Plugins for EP6 SP2 do).
    Hope it helps

  • Converted TV series doesnt all get loaded in itunes

    Please help...
i've converted the 1st and 2nd season of battlestar gallactica, uploaded it in itunes. Some episodes could not be added. like in the 1st season, EP1, EP2, EP4,EP7 were added EP3, EP5 & EP6 were not.
    please advice. thanks.

Let's see, uh, these are shows I downloaded 6 months ago, so I guess the answer is... no?  Not so simple?
I looked a lot closer and apparently the shows I bought before are just gone.  I went back to the store to repurchase only to be told I already bought them but if I want to I can buy them again.  Not redownload but actually repurchase.  So no, not so simple.
Something must have gotten corrupted and apparently once that happens then things get squirrly real fast.  That's ok, I have an engineering degree and am computer literate.  Imagine my mom trying to mess with this?  No way.
So no - not nearly simple enough.

  • EP5.0 Custom .par File Does Not Work in EP6.0 SP2

I have a .par file called CustomerSearch.par that is used in EP5.0, and I am now trying to get this .par file to work in EP6.0 SP2.  I noticed the directory structure changes, so my .par structure is this:
    CustomerSearch.par
    -->  portal-inf
    portalapp.xml
    lib
    CustomerSearch.jar
    TableViewExample.class
    pagelet
    TableView.jsp
I am getting the following error in the portal console logs when I try to access the component after I have uploaded the CustomerSearch.par file.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi Bernhard,
nice to hear that we resolve the problem
    > Karstens answer solved my base problem,
    > Detlevs answer lead into the right direction.
Not that I've that need for points...
It's just the question why my answer (if you follow the link, my answer was: delete two lines, from which one is essential to be deleted) only "lead into the right direction"... In fact, it solved the base problem, I would claim for me
To give the technical background: If your write
    <property name="ComponentType" value="jspnative"/>
the portal runtime expects a component consisting of a native JSP; the second directive -
    <property name="JSP" value="pagelet/InitialPage.jsp"/>
    - for this case tells where to find this JSP. So if you delete the first line, <i>at least</i> the second line has no sense anymore. To clean up such a portalapp.xml, it just makes sense also to delete the second line.
    Best regards

  • Deploy PAR from Ep5 to EP6 problem

    Hi ,
I am now using EP6 and i need to deploy a PAR file ( generated in EP5) into the portal using ( System administrator /support / portal runtime / Admin console ..) to upload it into PCD , the upload was processed successfully [ but i see that in the list  :
<i> Server ID      Local version Repository version
P1  4206950 <b> undefined  undefined</b>  ( while others : 5.0.5.4 )</i>And then in the content management when i want to create a new iview from PAR file , i can not see it in the list ( P1.PAR ) that i have just deployed ....till now i am very confused about it , anyone can help me to deploy it ( I need it urgently right )
    Thanks ,
                   Qui nguyen

    Hi vankat ,
First i'd like to thank so musch for your answer , i've done like that i saw it in the PCD but when i preview it the following errors occur:

    iView : N/A
    Component Name : N/A
Could not find portal application .
    Exception id: 01:05_26/12/06_0034_4206950
See the details for the exception ID in the log file</i>
    And

What are the above lines mean and how to recover it ? and if i want to look for the log file where i can find it in the server ?

  • Teamviewer - All positions in Org Unit display depth between EP5 and EP6

We are in the process of upgrading our HR Portal from Version 5 to Version 6 (SP14) and have encountered an issue with the Team viewer functionality.
In our EP5 system when the user selects the dropdown option for 'All positions in org unit' it is picking up our Configuration limiting it to showing only 3 structure levels and when an attempt is made to display lower levels the expander changes but no more levels are shown (e.g. Expander icon changes but does not render the lower level).
In our EP6 system when the user selects the dropdown option for 'All positions in org unit' it is ignoring the same Configuration and lets the user select down to the bottom of the organisation. This will obviously have serious performance implications and so must be corrected if we are to implement this upgrade.
To test the situation we deployed the following par files from our EP5 system to our EP6 system and found that we achieved the required result of only allowing the configured levels to be shown:
    com.sap,pct.hcm.objectanddatprovider.par
    com.sap,pct.hcm.orgmanagementeventing.par
    com.sap,pct.hcm.teamviewer.par
This points to an issue between these files from the EP5 version to the EP6 version.
Has anyone else experienced an issue with how the EP6 teamviewer handles the 'All positions in Org Unit' selection, and if so can you let me know any solution you have to it?
(Note: This selection used Eval Path MDTSBESX)

    Hello Sandeep,
Unfortunately the only standard functionality is to change the rankings of the positions within transaction ppome. Therefore you have the buttons 'Move up in rank' and 'Move down in rank' in the overview area of the ppome. As you know if the field PRIOX in the table hrp1001 is empty, the transaction sorts the positions by OBJID. So perhaps you could create a abap program to change this standard functionality to insert values into field PRIOX for the corresponding relationship in HRP1001 that you want to sort.

  • ConfigurationException while migrating from EP5 SP20 to EP6 SP19

    Hi,
I'm migrating content from EP5 SP6 to EP6 SP19 and am following the document "Migration of SAP Enterprise Portal 5.0 to NetWeaver '04". All support platform plugins checks passed.
However when i start migration: i get the message

Any assistance to resolve this would be of great help.

After application of Java SP20 I have the same error:
"Error occurred while initially starting application sap.com/tcmobileadminea:Application sap.com/tcmobileadminea cannot be started. Reason: it has hard reference to resource  tc_SL_SDM_Client with type library, which is not active on the server.#
On our J2EE we are not able to find the "tc_SL_SDM_Client " service or library and the property files seems to be ok.
Before the application of Java SP20 the J2EE was working fine.
DO you know in which SCA/SDA  the tc_SL_SDM_Client  is supposed to be ?

  • Error when running EP5 iView on EP6

Hi all.  We have to migrate quickly from EP5 SP3 to EP6 SP9.  We have a number of custom coded iViews which use the deprecated jcoclient methods.
From the Netweaver developers studio we import and export a Java iView thats running fine on our EP5 SP3 portal and get the following error while trying to preview it on EP6 SP9.
    Portal Runtime Error
An exception occurred while processing a request for :
    iView : N/A
    Component Name : N/A
    com/sap/util/proxy/jco/BasicTable.
    Exception id: 11:40_07/12/04_0003_4009750
See the details for the exception ID in the log file
Is it possible to do what we are trying to do with basic EP5 JCO (non pooling) iviews?  Will this work if the iview uses JCO Pooling?
    Thanks for your help.
    Bjorn

    Hello Bjorn,
If you please elaborate a bit regarding your use of the deprecated/old JCOClient methods, I will try and find out if there is a problem with them.
    Best Regards,
    Ran
