EP7 JDBC connector integration to Oracle 8i database

Hello,
We are planning to use the EP7 JDBC connector to integrate with an Oracle database version 8.1.7.0. Are there any issues with integrating with this version of Oracle?
Thanks
Rebecca

Hi,
I would rather suggest you to go  with Oracle 10g because of incompatibility issues.I am not sure whether 8i will work smoothly or not but for safer side go with 10g

  • Weblogic SOA 12.1.3: Integration with Oracle 9i Database

    All,
    We have a client who currently adopt BPEL 10g (10.1.3.4). Currently we are looking to updrade the client to SOA Suite 12.1.3. As part of their existing architecture, there are a number of Oracle 9i databases that the BPEL components integrate with via DB Adapters. The clients current road map is to upgrade / migrate to the 12c SOA platform but not upgrade any of their legacy applications running on top of a Oracle 9i Database.
    Please note I have observed and reviewed the Certification Matrix for supported platforms at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/fusion-middleware/documentation/fmw-1213certmatrix-2226694.xls
    As part of initial investigations, we have identified that the JDBC drivers that are integrated with 12.1.3. Weblogic are not compatable with Oracle 9i. You are able to create and test data source conections with success. However at runtime when querying the database a number of issues manifest. These incude:
    VARCHAR2 columns are not returned via a select. Date columns and number columns are returned
    Errors when executing adapters which implement the Pure SQL feature.The error returned involves the "ora-01460: unimplemented or unreasonable conversion requested" error.
    Similair design time issues are also envountered in JDeveloper (as per JDeveloper 12.1.3 (SOA / BPM) Integration with Oracle 9i Database)
    Looking at the default configuration in 12c, it is to utilise OJDBC7 drivers supplied which support JDBC 4.1specification.
    Has anyone had experience of using an Oracle 9i Database with Weblogic 12.1.3.? or have any viable options / views for how this could be achieved?
    Regards Dave

    I wrongly mentioned to change to change the font format. In that document they mention to add the lines.

  • Jdbc thin driver with Oracle 9i database

    Hi,
    I'm having a problem with java code which previously deployed ok on an Oracle 817 database. In attempting to access data from a 9i database I get the following error:
    java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [ttcgcshnd-1], [0], [], [], [], [], [], []
    From looking around I get the impression that the problem is with an incompatability with the driver and the 9i database. Any ideas as to whether this is true or not or suggestions on how to resolve it?
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Alison

    I don(t understand,my JBuilder use the libraries from Oracle 9.01
    and when I make a connection,
    with this code:
    DatabaseMetaData meta = conn.getMetaData();
    System.out.println("JDBC driver version is " + meta.getDriverVersion());
    It send me back thin driver 8.17
    how is it possible?

  • JDBC Connector in NetWeaver Dev Studio WebAS

    Hello,
    I am attempting to deploy a web module that utilizes a WebAS datasource for an external Oracle database. I expect to add a JDBC Connector leveraging the Oracle JDBC driver. I have been unable to deploy the Oracle datasource.
    I receive the stack trace below whenever I attempt to Start the datasource. I find many posts asking about this error but never have I found an answer as to the cause or resolution. OSS Note 751175 describes this as a classloader problem with connectors but it does not offer any repair method that works with this problem (in my case).
    I've had this problem with NetWeaver SP7 and it remains with SP10.
    Does anyone have explanation? Can I expect to test such applications in NetWeaver's standalone WebAS?
    Best regards,

    Hello Benny,
    One of my co-workers resolved the problem which boiled down to driver configuration confusion. Here's what we learned:
    No SDA component was required though this was a good exercise for us to go through.
    The driver (JAR or ZIP) file can be added simply using the Visual Administrator JDBC Connector Runtime tab.
    We were not able to activate more than one type of datasource at a time (feature, bug or something else?)
    The following configurations start okay:
    **Starts***
    Driver: Oracle's classes12.zip
    JDBC Version: 1.x
    Driver class: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
    Database URL: jdbc:oracle:thin:@host:port:instance
    User&Password specified.
    **Starts***
    Driver: Oracle's 1.4 ojdbc14.jar
    JDBC Version: 2.0
    Driver class: oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSourceFactory
    Datasource type: ConnectionPoolDataSource
    CPDS Classname: oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleConnectionPoolDataSource
    Additional properties:
    URL = jdbc:oracle:thin:@host:port:instance
    User = xxxx
    Password = yyyyy
    **Will not start but the failure is expected***
    Driver: Oracle's classes12.zip
    JDBC Version: 1.x
    Driver class: oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleConnectionPoolDataSource
    Database URL: jdbc:oracle:thin:@host:port:instance
    User&Password specified.
    We do need to run multiple datasources using Oracle and Sybase so I'm hoping the issue we encountered is simply configuration issues again.
    I appreciate your time and feedback Benny!

  • BI - JDBC connector for remote database.

    Hi,
    I am trying to use my portal oracle database in VC applications. I have successfully connected to the database using JDBC connector as well as BI-JDBC connector. However when I try to use this BI-JDBC system in SQL editor I cannot see any tables. I have created JDBC and BI-JDBC system objects in the portal and the connection test is successful for both the systems.
    I am using BI-JDBC connector so that I can see the tables and write select queries which I can use in VC applications. Using JDBC connector I can see only the stored procedures. So tried using BI-JDBC connector.
    Is there anyway I can see the tables and views in the oracle database in the VC applications.
    Thanks in advance.
    Aamod.

    Hi,
    The DB user which I am using, can query the database from SQL PLUS. So he can see the tables and everything. But when the same user is used for mapping with portal user the tables cannot be seen.
    When I select the system in VC and click on "Browse Table Catalog" I get the following structure.
    BI-JDBC
       |- 0
          |- 1.
    And below 1 theres nothing. When I select "Tables" and search *, it says "Search returned no result".
    Please advice.
    Regards,
    Aamod.

  • How to set JDBC Data Sources in Oracle MapViewer for Oracle database 12c Release 1 (12.1.0.1)

    How to set JDBC Data Sources in Oracle MapViewer for Oracle database 12c Release 1 (12.1.0.1)?
    The following is my configuration in the conf\mapViewerConfig.xml:
    <map_data_source name="mvdemo12"
    jdbc_host="127.0.0.1"
    jdbc_sid="orcl12c1"
    jdbc_port="1522"
    jdbc_user="mvdemo"
    jdbc_password="7OVl2rJ+hOYxG5T3vKJQb+hW4NPgy9EN"
    jdbc_mode="thin"
    number_of_mappers="3"
    allow_jdbc_theme_based_foi="true"
    editable="true"/>
    <!--  ****  -->
    But it does not work.
    After use "sqlplus mvdemo/[email protected]:1522/pdborcl", it connected to the Oracle database 12c.
    Does anyone know it?
    Thanks,

    For 11.1.1.7.1 use the syntax for jdbc_sid, i.e.
    //mypdb1.foo.com as described in the README,
    - MapViewer native (non-container) data sources can now use database service name in place of SID. To supply a db service name, you will use the same jdbc_sid attribute, but specify the service name with double slashes in front, such as follows:
      <map_data_source name="myds"
        jdbc_host="foo.com"
        jdbc_sid="//mypdb1.foo.com"
        jdbc_port="1522"
      />
    For 11.1.1.7.0 use a container_ds instead.
    i.e. instead of using
    <map_data_source name="my_12c_test"
                       jdbc_host="mydbinstance"
                       jdbc_sid="pdborcl12c"
                       jdbc_port="1522"
                       jdbc_user="mytestuser"
                       jdbc_password="m2E7T48U3LfRjKwR0YFETQcjNb4gCMLG8/X0KWjO00Q="
                       jdbc_mode="thin"
                       number_of_mappers="6"
                       allow_jdbc_theme_based_foi="false"
                       editable="false"
       />
    use
      <map_data_source name="my_12c_test"
                       container_ds="jdbc/db12c"
                       number_of_mappers="6"
                       allow_jdbc_theme_based_foi="false"
                       editable="false"
       />
    In my case the Glassfish 3.1.2.2 JDBC connection pool definition was
    Property
    url  jdbc:oracle:thin:@mydbinstance:1522/pdborcl12c.rest_of.service.name
    Uncheck the Wrap JDBC Objects option in Advanced panel, i.e. the Edit JDBC Connection Pool Advanced properties page.
    Add a JDBC resource for that newly created pool
    Use that in mapviewerconfig.xml as above

  • Can't connect to external Oracle DB with JDBC connector

    Hello guys,
    I had failed to connect to connect external Oracle  via JDBC connector .
    Could you please help me to resolve the problem ?
    Backgroud:
    We need to connect the external Oracle DB with JDBC connector, because BI need to connect to the target Oracle. If the JDBC connector suceed, BI will create a UD which use the datasource
    we create in Visual admin to connect to the external Oracle DB.
    Environment:
    Our EP version is NW04S SP17 , OS is AIX .
    The target Oracle DB version is 10g(10.1.0.2.0, 64bi).
    Configuration procedure :
    1. Import Oracle driver "ojdbc14.jar" and create new driver which named "Oracle "  under
    JDBC Connector ->Run time ->Driver  in Visual Admin.
    2. Create datasource "Mydatasource" under JDBC Connector ->Run time ->Data Source,
    Name : Mydatasource
    Driver Name : Oracle
    JDBC version: 2.0(with XA support)
    JDBC compliant:
    Object Factory :oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSourceFactory

    All fo my configuration had been listed.
    And I had created JCO RFC : JT-BIDEV_PORTAL_BD1 , and created RFC connection with SM59 in BI.

  • JDBC API ( JSR 169 ) Implementation for accessing oracle lite database

    We are developing an application using IBM J9 (CDC and Foundation Profile) on Pocket PC 2003 environment with SWT as the front end development. We are using Oracle Lite 9i as the Client database.
    We have sucessfully installed Oracle Lite and was able to create tables in the database.. however we could not find the JDBC API (java.sql and javax.sql packages which is JSR 169 JDBC 2.0/3.0) inorder to load the JDBC driver(OLITE40.jar) and access the oracle Lite Database on Pocket PC.
    IBM J9 Micro Environement does not have this support.
    I am wondering if Oracle provides this implementation.
    If not is there a get around.

    Thanks for your help...
    By Using THIN driver also we can insert any files more than 4k and and retrive same. Fallowing codes worked fine for me using thin Driver .
    Following are the 2 programs to write and read.

  • Oracle 8i database hangs for the same amount during JDBC calls.

    Hi all,
    I have a Oracle 8i database on solaris. The database hangs for exactly 61 seconds for a random jdbc call from my Java application, i mean there is no particular pattern or a JDBC call for which the database hangs. If i choose to wait for 61 seconds it returns the results from the database but if i try to access the database with another query(SQL Plus) the first query starts executing immediately. Is that a database configuration problem or some thing else.
    And i also get some exceptions occasionally( Maximum Open Cursors exception). Are these two related?
    Any feedback is appreciated.
    Thanks
    Hugo Victor

    I have uninstalled Oracle 8i.
    Removed all the services from Windows services by deleting corresponding registry entries and deleted the Oracle folder.
    I have reinstalled Oracle 8i, this time i changed the name of global database to oracledb.
    I channged the tnsnames.ora file from DevSuite appropriately as:
    # tnsnames.ora Network Configuration File: C:\DevSuiteHome_1\network\admin\tnsnames.ora
    # Generated by Oracle configuration tools.
    EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = mscserver)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = ORACLEDB)
    Still it can't login using scott/tiger authentication.
    What may be the problem? Please help.

  • BPEL 10.1.2 Integration w/ Oracle E-Business Suite Database Sequences

    All,
    I have read the previous posts on database sequences, but I am still missing something. I am attempting to insert into a database column using a database sequence. In my toplink_mappings.xml (under Integration content), I make the changes as suggested in previous posts ( I have read most all of them on this subject) to manually insert two lines under the primary key as follows:
    <sequence-number-field>AP.AP_INVOICES_INTERFACE.INVOICE_ID</sequence-number-field>
    <sequence-number-name>AP.AP_INVOICES_INTERFACE_S</sequence-number-name>
    When I then attempt to re-deploy the process without going through the partner link, I get the ORA-00942: table or view does not exist. I am guessing this is related to the two lines above that were inserted manually as instructed below. However, when I attempt to go back through the partner link to validate the changes the two manual lines are wiped out and I then get ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into "AP"."AP_INVOICES_INTERFACE"."INVOICE_ID"). Furthermore, I have gone into Applications Sources ->TopLink->TopLink Mappings Database Info Sequencing Section. I toggled between "Use Default Sequence Table"/"Use Native Sequencing". I think I need Use Native Sequencing do to my integration with Oracle Apps, but I am not sure (PreAllocation set to 1 per Apps).
    Also, I have read the references from previous post to the BPEL Developers guide and reviewed the "Changes Through TopLink Mapping Workbench". However the section on No Primary Key Exception does not address my issue because it does not address automatic sequence generation for primary keys.
    Any help with regard to this issue is very much appreciated. I too am trying to perform a BPEL and OEBS 10.5.9/9i database integration “proof of concept” and would be interested in discussing what I am working on with others in a similar position. Thanks.
    Don

    Hi Don,
    I have seen this before internally:
    "I've selected "Use Native Sequencing" in the Toplink Mappings and used the DB Adapter wizard to regenerate the toplink_mappings.xml, but the BPEL process manager still wants to access a table called SEQUENCE."
    The solution is to change your oc4j-ra.xml to set useNativeSequencing="true". Otherwise the adapter will think AP.AP_INVOICES_INTERFACE_S is a database table designed to store the next primary keys rather than a sequence. That may explain the table not found exception.
    For next release we will at least ship a sample on how to auto-assign primary keys on insert. We do have a feature request to incorporate this into the wizard to make it more painless.
    Also to prevent your additions to toplink_mappings.xml from being overwritten, you can configure sequencing inside the TopLink Mapping Workbench Project inside Jdev.
    Go
    Application Sources > TopLink > TopLink Mappings.
    Then in structure pane click on the ApInvoicesInterface descriptor and check "Use Sequencing" and set the SequenceName to "AP.AP_INVOICES_INTERFACE_S".
    Thanks
    Steve

  • JDBC Drivers for Weblogic to connect to Oracle 11g database

    WebLogic Server Version: 10.3.6.0
    We had Oracle 10g database that we were connecting using JDBC data source (driver : Oracle's Driver (Thin XA) for instance connections; versions:9.0.1 and later). We migrated our database to 11g now. Is it still the best driver to connect to 11g database or should we change it to something else?

    why not using an 11 driver to connect to db 11g?
    maybe the following posting helps although is focuses on db 12c:
