Epiphany crashing[solved]

Epiphany crashes when a tab is closed, and also when closing the window (that is, the gnome 'this application has crashed' dialogue comes up).
I've just run pacman -Syu, and the error messages from the console look python related (which was upgraded to 2.5).  It could also be to do with a few parts of the new Gnme release being updated, I presume.
Just wondering whether I should bother to file a bug report, or should I just wait until gnome 2.18 updates are complete?  (If this is going to be more than a few days I'll have to install firefox in the meantime, I suppose).
Also, if there's anything I can do about this in the mean time - here's the ouput on the console from opening epiphany, opening a new tab and then crashing it by closing the new tab.  Should I set the environment variables it mentions perhaps?

The packages were upgraded almost as soon as I posted this, so it seems I should have been a bit more patient.

    Hi,
I'm dealing with an issues, that Epiphany crashes whenever I run it through the panel launcher, or from the applications menu. Whenever I run it from terminal, it doesn't crash. When it crashes, it fills ~/.xsession-errors with this:

  • Google earth crashing[SOLVED]

The current AUR PKGBUILD doesn't run on this system.  I have an ati x200m using opensource drivers (radeon).  I installed an older package 5.0.xx and I get less errors but it still crashes.  I am guessing this is a video issue, but whatever it is I can't google a way to fix it.  Any suggestions?
Failed to load "/opt/google-earth/libevll.so" because "/opt/google-earth/libevll.so: undefined symbol: gluNewTess"
EDIT: I've also rebuilt with this version - google-earth-5.1.3535.3218-1, I am getting the same error message.
EDIT SOLVED: I needed to install freeglut.  This was not necessary on my desktop because I am using nvidia drivers.

  • Mail Crashing Solved...  For me

I'm running 10.4.11 on a G4 Powerbook, and Mail has been crashing repeatedly on me for the past few days. I sync via IMAP with two gmail accounts. Nothing solved this problem from reinstalling 10.4.11 to repairing disk permissions, and removing the Growl plugin.
I think I found a fix. I'm not exactly sure what solved the problem as I didn't test after each step.
I logged into each of my gmail accounts via a web browser, and emptied my Spam, Sent and Trash folders, and Removed any unused labels. After everything (other than my inbox) was emptied, mail.app stopped crashing...
It must have been a corrupt message.

I think it has to do with some formatting compatibility problem emenating from the PC world. Whenever I get email from a PC user on AOL, those messages make my Mail crash, or hang for a long time. If I'm able to open them up there are pages of code in the body, as if any attachments are not deciphered, and just interperated as code.
I don't really know what to do about that, except delete those messages before I try to open them.

  • Annoying epiphany glitch [SOLVED]

some of my address bar icons in epiphany have started defaulting to a normal icon-size "page" icon instead of regular "favicons." it's almost like a "mime-type" icon I think, i.e., with a page that has a globe over it. here's a snapshot of what i mean:
    wonky epiphany favicon
there seems to be no pattern I can figure out yet. for example, a simple text file on my website will have that icon, while mythweb is okay. google as you can see has the big icon, while archlinux.org has the normal archlinux logo one.
I deleted the files in the .gnome2/epiphany/favicon_cache, and when that didn't work, I deleted the entire epiphany directory, which also didn't work. All this started after a bad theme (gtkrc misconfiguation in darklooks) crashed my theme functioning in xfce, and i had to remake my user directory to get themes to work right again. I guess something else got corrupted, but I can't figure out where. FF is okay and is showing normal favicons. anyone have any other ideas?

  • After Effects GPUSniffer crash SOLVED

I have seen several people with the problem "GpuSniffer" when After Effects is loading. (I have a Nvidia GTX 760 graphic card)
In my case the solution has been:
****First: Install the CUDA drivers (after do this the "gpusniffer crash" dissapeared but when the program loaded suddenly closed)
****Last: I configured the BIOS in "Optimized" mode and After Effects works perfect.

Since you seemed to miss it, I'll just directly give you the link provided on that thread, but I really recommend that you carefully read that thread about the issue that you're facing. It inlcudes information about conflicts with ATI drivers.

  • Epiphany crashes, related to nspluginwrapper

    Hi all,
I tried out nspluginwrapper for flash, but due to stability issues, decided to switch to 64bit flash version. I'm running the 64 bit Arch.
I uninstalled nspluginwrapper, and installed flash64. Firefox works stable enough, but if i try using epiphany, i get the following error:
sh: /usr/lib/nspluginwrapper/i386/linux/npviewer: No such file or directory
*** NSPlugin Wrapper *** ERROR: failed to execute NSPlugin viewer
*** NSPlugin Wrapper *** ERROR: failed to initialize plugin-side RPC client connection

Seems like nspluginwrapper is causing the trouble. Any suggestions?

Ok, lets see, it' s complaining with a bus error, whatever that may be.

    Busfout
    [bouke@woudstra ~]$ totem

Perhaps it' s referring to dbus? Well it' s loaded in rc.conf:

Just recently the UT2004 demo stopped working. when i started it it would say "ut2004..exe has encountered an error and needs to close, we r sorry for the incovienice"
    then CnC Renegade did it.
    So i ran adaware...nothing found
so i ran a virus scan.
NEARLY EVERY .EXE ON MY SYSTEM IS INFECTED WITH A VIRUS!
it is called PE_PARITE.A and you can find some information about it here http://www.trendmicro.com/cgi-bin/vinfo.pl?OneVirus=PE_Parite.A
I have no idea where it came from, or when, but at least i found the cause.
so never eliminate the possiblility that it could be a virus if you are getting crashing!

  • FYI: Premiere 7 repeatable crash solved - nVidia issue

Here is my story of hair pulling / frustration today.
    Symptoms:
Windows 7 x64 / 12 GB RAM / RAID-0 / Flash drive / blah blah blah, my system hardware and OS are solid
    Premiere 7 worked fine yesterday
Today Premiere 7 will crash anytime the Edit >> Effects tab or Edit >> Titles tab is selected
Tried all the recommended vodoo in the articles, and nothing worked.
Uninstall / re-install did not work
Debugging error with Visual Studio shows a stack overflow error
Folder  Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Premiere Elements creates a mysterious new folder "G167 - 9-16-2008" everytime it crashes.
In this folder is a file called "Trace Database.txt" which has the following text:
    ASL.MessagingService    1    5
    Master    1    10
Most event viewer crash report entries show the following, no help:
However on a second look, this entry was found in the sea of crash reports:
    Resolution:
nvSCPAPI.dll is a 3D glasses driver / application nVidia installs by default with their driver.
Yesterday I disabled it using an nVidia start menu application because I have no use for it
Disabling this feature caused the Premiere crashes (of course it did, woudln't that be obvious to anyone?)
Uninstalling the nVidia 3D vision application resolved the problem.

Wish PE7 had an x64 version of the software, I have got memory low warnings several times now when it bumped up against 2 GB of used memory.
I'm guessing that PrPro CS5 will be 64-bit, but some of that might be predicated on the actual release of Win7, and how well MS has done their SDK kit. If that happens (could also be CS5.5, or similar), I cannot imagine that PrE will be far behind.
Adobe has been doing surveys of PrPro users and several of the questions in each have been around "would you accept a 64-bit ONLY program?" Obviously, that would shut the upgrade door on many, until they migrated to a 64-bit OS. That might be more of an issue with the population of PrE users, as they would be less likely to run out and buy a new workstation for this program. Still, many folk, who are new to NLE's, are springing for some flavor of 64-bit for other reasons. Only Adobe's surveys and some good guesses by marketing, can determine their path.
Now, let's talk about your resources. I have 4GB on both machines (one with the 3GB switch, and one without). Still, we're not talking that much more RAM than you have.
I have a plan, that I implement on all machines, and then employ when I am doing editing:
The first thing that I do, before I do any editing, is clean out my system, using MSCONFIG to eliminate all unnecessary programs and Processes at boot. These are things like MS Messenger, iTunes Helper, Bonjour Services (I do need this for one progarm on my laptop, so I keep it there), and the like. These are little things that are usually installed by the OS, other programs, or the folk, who build the machine. Unless subsequent installs add this sort of stuff back, this is a one-shot deal.
Next, I manually Exit from my AV, spyware sweepers and pop-up blockers.
Last, I run a little utility, called EndItAll2, to then shut down all unnecessary programs and Processes (on a session basis, and not permanently, like MSCONFIG), prior to editing.
This gets my machine in as lean, clean and mean a status, as I can. Then, I edit.
I routinely work on some monster Projects with up to 8+ hours of material on the Timelines and 1000's of Assets. To date, I have never had one "out of resources" error. I am, however, doing SD Projects only - no HD yet.
Don't know what programs/Processes you might have loaded, but that would be one of the first places that I'd look - if you have not done so already.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • FX5900XT-VTD128 and crashes (solved)

I haven't heard back from MSI's teck support yet, but maybe someone here can help.
I got the card this weekend and tried new drivers, old drivers, etc and the card still crashes when using IE or if I have a window open browsing files.  It is most stable using the 45.32 drivers from MSI.  I am getting the latest frm nVidia now, maybe that will help.  Also the PSU is a generic 350w and I wonder if that is a problem.  I upgrades from a GeForce 2 Pro.

The PSU says it is 400w and I couldn't find a name.  The Antec is a VAR II case and it didn't come with a PSU.  The PSU is from my old generic case.
    3.3v = 28a
    5.0v = 35a
    -5v = .5a
    12v = 15a
    -12v = .8a

Also cleaned the MSI drivers off and installed the nVidia drivers and things were stable.  I couldn't find any WDM capture drivers on nVidia's site so I installed the ones on the CD and explorer started crashing, but not nearly as frequently.  I am going to look again.  MSI tech said to try the card in a different system, which I don't have.
[edit] Just found the capture drivers on their wb site.  Will try them out this afternoon.

  • MacBook Pro 2012 Crashing (solved?)

My MacBook Pro mid 2012 had been constantly crashing for several months. Talked with Apple and after they could do nothing to help, I was offered a logic board replacement. Upon taking it to the local store they checked it and said my problem MIGHT have been my extra non-Apple 16 bid memory or my larger non-Apple 2 Terabyte drive. Of course it was not as I took it home and decided to check some more. All else checked out ok.
After still having continuous crashes, they replaced my logic board and that did help a LITTLE, however the crashing continued but a slight bit less.
After a few more weeks of the same crashing I got new memory sticks (2 non-Apple 8 gig) and this did nothing different and it still crashed constantly. So I started on removing all old useless files from programs I no longer have and trashed the ones I never use anymore as well as all their parts. An STILL the still the same  crashes.
While doing his I discovered that it would no longer crash in SAFE BOOT. So I removed all start up items and tried again and still got the crashes. So I searched the net and saw that there was one plist that others were having a similar problem with and so I trashed:
    Problem System Launch Daemons: ℹ️
        [failed]    com.apple.watchdogd.plist
This was found in EtreCheck and I trashed it.
Restarted with all extensions running and for the last week my aching has been running without a single problem.
The Apple "Geniuses" kept telling me that the problem MUST be with something that I had installed. And of course they were right but neglected to say that it was something that the Apple OS had installed.
I am posting this to relate my very annoying experiences over a near 6 month period, that documents (for me anyway) that Apple is loading unstable software in their OS that I see constantly crashing in the console and causing my machine to totally lock up and about 15 seconds later, just restart. Of course this crashing caused minor disk damage, and every time it crashed I had to restart using DiskWarrior 5 to fix the minor damage, least it get worse at a later point.
This has caused me a LOT of problems and wasted time to locate what Apple and these Geniuses should have known about that mentioned file causing me and others so many problems.
So this is all just an FYI that might or might not have someone else id your machine is having problems. By The Way: it is also running much smoother and faster now too.

Please don't ever do that. EtreCheck is designed to be a snapshot of your system. Any individual "failed" entry may or may not have any meaning. The only way to tell anything is to see the entire report. There is no worse thing you could do with EtreCheck than to use it to start deleting parts of your operating system. All you have done is mask a symptom of whatever problem you are experiencing.
If you really want to uncover the source of the problem, you should back up your system and then reinstall the OS. You should be able to do that without erasing the hard drive. It will just replace the files you have deleted. Then, if it start crashing, you can post the entire EtreCheck report and we can help you track it down.
