Equals does not work where it should......

This runs in a while next from mysql DB, gets 5 rows back.
If a real date is in the field I want to print out the date in the else.
otherwise I want to display nothing if the date field in MysQL DB has 0000-00-00 inside (default value).
if (rs.getString(4).equals("0000-00-00")) {
out.println("0000-00-00");
} else {
out.println("real date");

Have you checked that the value coming from database is 0000-00-00 only for the results?
If correct,
Do the following :
Put the rs.getString(4) value into a string. now compare the string. using the code
String strDate = rs.getString(4);
if (strDate.equalsIgnoreCase("0000-00-00")) {
out.println("0000-00-00");
else {
out.println("real date");

Check if you enabled scroll lock (fn + insert), in excel it scrolls page when enabled and move across cells when disabled

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

Junk mail just does not work as it should

I've had this for ages and just put up with it.
I have my jumk mail settings set for
Enable: the following types of messages are exempt from junk mail filtering: sender of message is in my address book (and in previouos recipients).
I assume that this means that anyone sending a message who is in my address book will not then appear as junk. This does not happen and despite repeated attempts to assign each one as not being junk it never learns as I thnk it is supposed to. A very few of my incoming messages of people who are in my address book do not appear as junk but I can't see a pattern.
Over time I have tried all kinds of ways to set the various settings but to no avail and now I really think that I should try and sort it as it is low grade annoying. I would appreciate any help anoyne could give.

It looks like iCal hasn't updated when you updated your operating system if it's still writing to a .mac address like you suspected. The most recent version is 4.0.1. If you need to update your actual application you can try copying from another computer with snow leopard installed (I've tested this), or reinstalling Snow Leopard. (not a fun option for such a small issue I know)

Function keys does not work as they should.

The function keys has worked as they should since I bought the computer.
When I turned on the computer yesterday, the function keys didn't work as they should.
Example:
Before: When I hit the F5, the light in my keyboard was turned on/off. When I hit Fn + F5, I refreshed the browser page.
Now: When I hit the F5, I refresh the browser page. If I hit Fn + F5, I still refresh the browser page.
I used to control the volume on the computer with F6-8, but now I have to click the speaker icon in the lower right corner and manually "drag" the volume up or down.
Does anyone know how this can be fixed?

Please try disabling Action Keys Mode in the BIOS, using the steps in this document:

My DVD-ROM drive does not work -- what steps should I take?

MacBook Pro, a couple of years old. Was used by an employee for 2 years, now have it at home and found that the DVD-ROM drive does nothing when I insert a disc.
What I really would like to know is what are the first steps with this. I don't want to send the machine somewhere. Should I just get a cheap external? Could it be software?

If by Does nothing you mean it doesn't even pull in the disk. That sound slike hardware not software.
I imagine it is out of warranty? If it is covered take it to be repaired in a mac store. If not I personally would opt for an external as the cost would be much more appealing. But doesn't hurt to inquire about the cost for having a new internal, or even fixing your current one.
But for my money I would opt for external.

OS X is all about keyboard shortcuts.
To cut       cmd+x
To copy     cmd+c
To paste    cmd+v
With the Mouse, hold command and drag to your destination.

"Personalizing Folder Presentation" does not work how it should

Hi All,
i have a problem with the presentation function for a folder.
With this functionality you can change the presentation of an folder, with predefined layout profiles.
In the settings menu you have the possibility to "Apply Settings to All Subfolders". That works fine.
But when I try to add a new folder, the new folder has the presentation of the Default Profile and not,
as one would think, the presentation of the parent folder.
Is it a SAP bug or a feature?

Hi,
That is how it works. There is no inheritance in the presentation settings. When you check the Apply Settings to All Subfolders it goes through all the subfolders and actively sets the presentation settings for them.
That's why a new folder has no settings set for it.
