Equium A60 notebook - installing Rio software

Hi I have a problem with my Rio software. When ripping a CD it "stalls". I wondered if anyone in the Surrey & Hampshire area has any experience in reinstalling, which includes updating the USB/Chipset drivers and updating the BIOS amongst other things advised to me by Rio. Anyone out there with software installation knowledge would be really helpful to me - many thanks

Hi Barrie basically during the downloading of a CD it will simply go into "idle" mode during the download - so I might get half the album, for example. The following is the text sent to me by Rio - trouble is, I am not a software genius, and so I am a little phased, not to say nervous, about embarking on all this. Of course my notebook runs XP so there are automatic updates.
The text from the (very helpful)Rio chap follows, and I would appreciate your thoughts - when you download a software file frrom the internet, do you "save" or run direct - if you "save", where do you save the file to?
Thanks very much (text follows)

  • Equium A60 Notebook Failure during BIOS up-date

    Hi
My computer crashed during the BIOS up-date recommended to cure the blue screen error message. I switched it off completely and now she wont boot up at all. None of the leds come on either it is like there is no power getting to the machine. My wall socket is working as I have tested it. Could this mean my battery is dead? I have tried removing it and cleaning the contacts, or did the BIOS up-date have something to do with this?
    Thanks
    Phil

    Hi Phil,
If the BIOS did not finish successfully this could spell very bad news. The worse scenario is that the system is now unusable.
Hopefully Toshiba have prepared for this and manufactured their laptops accordingly. You might find this site a useful read ... http://www.quepublishing.com/articles/article.asp?p=27188&seqNum=7&rl=1
I would be very tempted to get Toshiba Warranty Support to deal with it if it's still in warranty, if not - contact their support anyway to see what they can offer. Other than that, I guess google'ing around for possible fixes.
Good luck and post back if you get it sorted - I might need the solution some day!

  • Equium A60 - What software do I need for FN keys?

Finally purchased a new motherboard for my daughters Equium A60.
After installing all the drivers I have a few keys missing on the keyboard and the function keys do not work. Does anyone know what piece of software I need to load from the Toshiba site to get them all to work as I dont have the original Toshiba disk for this model? The board is a A60-157.
    Many thanx

    Hi
    What OS did you install?
If you have installed XP on Equium A60 you can answer this question by yourself because on the Toshiba website you can find the installation instructions document. This is a list for the recommend driver installation order.
    Check this!!
For the FN keys and all other special function you need the Toshiba tools:
    TOSHIBA Console
    TOSHIBA Controls
TOSHIBA Hotkey Utilities for Display Devices
    TOSHIBA Hotkey Utilities
    TOSHIBA Touchpad Utility
    TOSHIBA Utilities

  • Webcam problems with Equium A60

I have a Creative Ultra Live for Notebooks which I can not get to work with my Equium A60-156.When I install the software it tells me that no drivers have been installed and that the device in not recognized.I have the latest BIOS & have tried changing the powersave settings & various other solutions Creative have suggested all to no avail !
Has anyone else had this problem and overcome it ?
Creative discussion forums are full of people with toshiba notbooks with this problem.
Help ! I am getting desperate.

Hi, I don't have the create ultra live webcam but I do have the creative notebook cam installed on my A60-181 so I guess it can't be much different. It's possible the driver installation wasn't success and will need to be re-installed. Have a look in device manager if you see any yellow marks regarding an unknown USB device then remove it. Run the install program again then plug in the webcam afterwards not before. Does it say something like found new USB device and prompted you for installing drivers?? Click on "recommended" then later it will say "these drivers are unsigned..." etc. you have to "OK" otherwise the drivers wont install.

  • Equium A60 Blue Screen after updating to XP Home SP2

I have a Toshiba Equium A60-692. I have updated to XP SP2 and now get a blue screen on start up with the message that ATI driver ATI2DVG has gone into a continuous loop. The Microsoft error report says this is due to incompatable drivers, but I have the latest driver from Toshiba.
    Anyone have any ideas?

    HI Laura,
if it is important for you to install SP2 on your notebook you should try a complete new OS.
At first save your data on an external device (CD, DVD, USB-HDD, ...) and start the Toshiba recovery CD. But pay attention all data will be lost, also other partitions!!!
After the new fresh OS is ready, update your drivers, Tools and QFEs from Toshiba HP and install it!
I the end try the SP2 installation! Then it should run!
    Bye Meier

  • Need some info about Equium A60

    Hi,
I am looking to upgrade RAM on my laptop which is a Equium A60 (PSA67E-001004NO). I need to know what speed my motherboard supports... I posted a question some time back and got the impression that my laptop can take 533mhz but I enquired other places and got the idea that my laptop supports 333mhz. I need to know the correct value my motherboard supports. Whether its 333mhz or up over..
One thing more I need to know is there any way one can check for the configuration that laptop has, because there is nothing about this Equium on the net or Toshiba site...
I remember to see a page on which all hardware and preinstalled software details of Equium A60 PSA67E-001004NO were on the net but I fail to remember where I saw it..
Can someone help in any way?

    Hi
Your notebook has 256MB internal memory and just one slot is available for memory expansion. I have found info that your unit can handle with 1280MB max.
    The compatible memory modules are:
    PC2700 256MB (PA3311U-1M25)
    PC2700 512MB (PA3312U-1M51)
    PC2700 1024MB (PA3313U-1M1G)
If you want check part numbers on Google and you will find out all info about those modules. I have no time now to check it for you.
    Bye

  • Equium A60-199 randomly shutting down -could it be overheating issue

Hi I am posting on behalf of a friend who has been experiencing her A60 laptop shutting down unexpectedlly.. ( she said it shut down after a few mins or when she tried opening Firefox)
    Syst Details
    Toshiba Equium A60-199 Model No: PSA67E -00J00C8J
    18 GB Free & 19 GB used
    512MB RAM
    Celeron 2.93GH processor
    Running WinXp Home
    NIS 2006
I have had a look remotely and was using it for about 30 mins opened FF with No issues using logmeinitreach software ..There was nothing showing in the event manager log, for the time of day it was shutting down earlier on..so I was wondering if it is a faulty power supply?
Everythng looked fine had just clicked on the Norton Internet security Full system scan which has not been run in a long time and the PC shut down NOW it won't reboot at all.??
Apparantly she can hear some whirring but nothing else happens..( which I guess could well be the fan kicking in)
Advised her to leave it for a bit and about 2 hours later she was able to turn it on again.. I am wondering if it could be overheating.??
Apparantly 3/4 months ago this was happening then stopped happening and has now started again..
Please can you give me some advice on how to clean it - other than taking it to a hardware workshop
I have downloaded the A60 users manual and have asked her to confirm what the indicator lights are showing - so as to try to verify of overheating
    is the issue..
I have also read online "You can spray compressed air into the air intake vents but not the air output vents to help get rid of the dust and debris." I have looked at the manual and can see 2 lots of vents ..One is on the side and one on the bottom, is th eintake the one on the side ? Do I literally point the air at the side vents and spray ?
When asking her if she knows when teh fan is always on, sometimes on, never one etc she seemd to think ot is ALWAYS on.. which woudl again point to overheating..
    Please advise
    tamba1

    Hello Cathy
I also believe the suddenly shutdowns are result of overheating. If the dust blocks cooling grill the air circulation is blocked and hardware can achieve critical hardware temperature very fast. Sometimes you can start any preinstalled application, the CPU usage goes to higher level and notebook will suddenly shuts down.
The notebook must be cleaned as soon as possible. If you do not have experience with disassembling procedure I recommend you to contact nearest service and the notebook should be cleaned on professional way. It costs a little bit but you can be sure that you can use notebook for a longer period of time.
If you need addresses and phone numbers for contacting ASP (Authorized service provider) please visit http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads.

  • Troubles with graphic card driver at Equium A60

    Hello everybody,
At first sorry for my bad English.
I have some trouble with the driver of my graphic card. After a new installation I just wanted to install the driver of the ATI Radeon 7000 (I have an Equium A60), after this I had to ascertain that my pc was out of order. The trouble was because the driver, I'm sure, because after a new installation, without the VGA-drive, my notebook is working, somehow.... I mean, I'm sure it could work better if the graphic would have an own driver.
I have been searching on the web and I did see that this was not a new problem; many people have the same trouble with it. Somehow, the pc's own driver is not compatible.
Could anyone help me to find a solution for my problem?
    Thanks a lot,
    Eurytheus

Sorry my friend but your posting sounds really unbelievable. Original Toshiba driver is not compatible with the hardware. It can not be. It can not be the truth!
Your notebook model is almost 4 years old and I presume Toshiba have had enough time to react if display driver is somehow problematic. I recommend you to back up all your data and try to install your notebook using original recovery image. If there is no hardware problem notebook should work well again.
Sorry but I do not see any other solution there because the driver is definitely tested and it must work well.

  • Equium A60-157 Wireless Network Card/PCMCIA HELP!

    Hi, all!
This problem has been frustrating me for at least 2 months.
Ok, I recently purchased a Belkin Wireless G Notebook Card (wifi card).
The first time I installed the wifi card it was working perfectly. I powered
off the laptop (after I had finished working on it). The following day
when I powered on the laptop, you guessed it, the wifi card was not
working. I did not remove the wifi card during the power off/on phase.
When I went into the device manager, a yellow exclamation mark was
above the wifi card. When I examined the wifi cards properties, I found the
    following message:
This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)
If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.
I have tried unistalling and reinstalling the wifi card. I have tried using the latest Belkin drivers for the wifi card. Sometimes it works, but when I power off/on the laptop its a no go.
One way I have gotten the card to work was by removing and inserting the card several times
until it found resources and finally worked. I dont use this method anymore as, quite obviously, I risk causing damage to the cardbus slot and the card. In the meantime Ive been using a Belkin Wireless G USB network adaptor. I have not had any problems with the USB adaptor, but I would prefer to use the wifi card. This is because the majority of the wifi card is housed inside the laptop, so its not easily dislodged. The USB adaptor is fine for wireless networking indoors, but too much of a risk for roaming outdoors.
I have had this problem from bios revision 1.70 to 1.8C, and I still have it with revision 1.90. Im planning to take the wifi card back to the shop for an exchange, but I have a very bad feeling that the same thing is going to happen with the replacement card. Im not convinced that the current wifi card is defective, because it works perfectly when it gets resources.
I have tried to manually configure the resources on the devices, but I run into one major problem. Windows seems to be LOCKED into automatic settings. The automatic settings checkbox is completely greyed out, making it impossible for me to clear the check box. I have not seen anything in the bios that can help me resolve this problem.
I have noticed that there are a lot of devices running off IRQ (Interrupt Request) 19, when viewing the resources by type in the device manager. These devices are:
Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller
Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller x 2 (two entries)
Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller
    Texas Instrumetns PCI-1410 CardBus Controller
When the wifi card is working it also runs off IRQ 19, but as I stated before Windows is locked into automatic settings and will not let me configure the hardware resources manually.
The Equium A60-157 does not come with onboard, but it has the potential to. Wifi l.e.d. on front panel, location for physical wifi switch on side panel and wifi icon on F8. Does anyone know if Toshiba offer an upgrade service, or can I install onboard wifi myself?
ANYONE, PLEASE HELP ME WITH THESE ISSUES!!!
    Thanks for you time!

    Hi
    I found this for you:
Two devices have been assigned the same input/output (I/O) ports, the same interrupt, or the same Direct Memory Access channel (either by the BIOS, the operating system, or a combination of the two). This error message can also appear if the BIOS did not allocate enough resources to the device (for example, if a universal serial bus (USB) controller does not get an interrupt from the BIOS because of a corrupt Multiprocessor System (MPS) table).
You can use Device Manager to determine where the conflict is and disable the conflicting device. On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooting wizard.
Try to disable the conflict devices. It will be interesting to know if the problem will occur again.
In my opinion you should contact Service partner and ask them if the unit is prepared for Wi-Fi module. Sorry but I am not sure about that and I dont want to give you a wrong information about that.

  • Equium A60 - How to format DVD-RW?

I have just buy an outgoing type laptop Equium A60; have an extended memory of 1 GB. I am now my first time make an DVD -RW, when I attempt to format with DVD-RAM program, its says that the DVD-RAM is not connected?
    Can anyone help me...
    [email protected]

Windows XP doesn't support DVD burning only CD-R/RWs you will have to use a dedicated application like Nero.
Toshiba do provide you with DVD burning software (can't remember the name) but it's not pre-installed you'll have to use the "Additional Software" CD for that.

  • Equium A60 doesn't recognize the USB webcam

i have just bought a creative vista plus webcam and tried to install it on my Equium A60 laptop, the software installed fine and everything but when i plugged the webcam into the usb port my laptop didn't recognise it.
i tried uninstalling and reinstalling and nothing changed. Anyone have any idea what might be wrong?

Hi, kirsten_uk when you connected your webcam into the USB port for the first time did Windows prompt you to install drives?? If not then something has gone wrong with the driver installation or the camera is defected.
Run Control Panel, System and locate something called "Device Manager", (run this) and look for yellow markers over the USB section. If you see a yellow marker this indicates Windows doesn't have a driver for the device, the problem can be corrected by forcing the re-installation of the drivers.
If still no joy, I would recommend trying another USB port or another computer if that fails the cam is defected.

  • Equium A60 doesn't work properly with Logitech Quickcam Fusion

Has anyone managed to use a Logitech Quickcam Fusion webcam with an Equium A60 ?
I've installed the latest available drivers and software and most times it just screws up the operation of the PC. It eventually hangs so badly that I can't even recover using Windows Task Manager!! If I leave the USB lead connected to the PC, 9 times out of ten, it won't boot up into Windows, until I remove the lead :(
I've installed the same software and drivers on my Desktop PC and the camera works fine every time and boots OK with the camera connected to a USB port.
Both PCs are using Win XP with SP2 and all released updates.

    Hello Bill
Do you have problems with USB ports if you use other devices? I really don?t know what the problem can be. Check Logitech SUPPORT PAGE
Maybe you will find some advice there.

  • Equium A60 with faulty built in memory

    Hi
I have tried recovering my Equium A60 with the recovery DVD and it will not boot windows. I tried to install a number of different versions of windows and the error messages lead me to the conclusion that the memory module is faulty. The system came with 256MB of memory and this is non removable as it is part of the motherboard. My question is if I buy a memory module and install it in the expansion slot will it be prevented from working by the faulty built-in memory?
    Message was edited by: binkey1st

    Hi Kevin,
Unfortunately there is no way to isolate the faulty RAM on your motherboard. Even if you install a second RAM module the system will still try to use the faulty built in module as well.
You will need to take you notebook to an ASP for the faulty module to be replaced.

  • Can I use board from Equium A60 for my Satellite A60?

    Hi
Usually there are different Satellite A60 series and different Equium A60 series but both notebooks are very similar and you should be able to install the motherboard from a Sat A60 into the Equium A60.
The motherboards dimensions (width + length) are the same.
