ER: Connections in project/workspace scope instead of global

I would like to point out a problem which could be fixed in the next release of JDeveloper.
I think it should be possible to define connection (application server and database) at the project level. That would ease team based development.
We have had problems in my team with this. I am responsible for the deployment of our project (ADF-Swing, backend deployed as EJB's on Oracle Application Server). I have to make sure every team member has defined a connection to the application server which has the same name as I have, and also make sure that if I change the attributes of the connection (new oc4j instance, new RMI port/user/password ....) everybody does the same change.
If these connections were defined and stored in the jpr project file (or maybe in the jws workspace file) I could simply commit these changes in CVS and other team members would pick that up.
Another issue could be solved by this:
I have a few projects I am working on and each of them requires different set of connections (e.g. seperate database users). When I deploy my ADF projects the file connections.xml is generated in the classes folder and is deployed along with my business components. This file contains connection information for all the connections I have defined in JDeveloper, not only the ones relevant for this project. This I would consider a security risk.
Hopefully this will be addressed in a (near) future version or someone can point out a way to do this in the current version (10.1.3).

I did the same way. But my doubt is All the user login will be in different session, I mean, Whether the vairable used to store the user name will be in different session to each Oracle Forms user, it wont overwrite one user name with the next login user name.

SSAS loses connection to local workspace

I seem to be running into this quite regularly these days. I'm editing an SSAS tabular model, filtering data in the views in VS 2012 to verify that calculations are working, and I get this:
The result is that any work you've done since you last saved is lost, because you won't be able to save. It's really getting quite frustrating.
I did find a post online that went over how you could recover your work from your local workspace SSAS install by reverse engineering/scripting the cube out of it, but that's really not an option in my case since I'm using source control and can't dump my
project history every time this happens (and it happens multiple times a day now).
Does anyone know of a workaround for this issue before I open a support incident? Thanks.
Edit: Seems that screenshots don't get persisted to the messages in MSDN forums anymore. Here's the text of what would have been in the screenshot:
"cannot complete the operation because there is no connection to the workspace database that contains the model currently being edited"
Specific steps to re-create. Filter any column in the tabular designer, and when you go to clear the filter if you hit clear before the list of available values populates in the box below, it'll lose connection to the workspace server, and everything will
be lost. Any attempt to save will result in:
"Unable to save the file Model.bim. Reason: The file cannot be saved because it is marked as readonly"
Some posted elsewhere about getting past this issue by un-setting the Model.bim file as read-only, or unsetting the entire project directory and it's contents as read-only, but that has not worked on any workstation I have ran into this problem with.
I suspect this is only one of several ways to cause the issue - I know about this one, I try and avoid it, and I still run into problems occasionally.

According to your decsription, you can't save the bim file and it throw the above error. Right?
In Analysis Services Tabular mode, this error occurs if the tabular designer has lost the connection to the workspace database server at some point during the editing session. However, there is a way to recover the work you did since the last save of the

Regenerating an IMG project's scope

Hi All,
is is possible to regenerate an IMG project's scope. It doesn't tell me I can't but after trying I get a popup saying "Generate the Project IMG or Customizing view in Project Management" when I try to open up the IMG project in SPRO.

After ur satellite system has been connected to solution manager u can Generate an IMG Project and an IMG View from Solution manager - T code -SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN under system lasndscape tab and IMG projects ,once the IMG is genereated u can then view this in ur satellite system

Yes you certainly can.
Right click any desktop in the list > Settings > in the left pane select the desktop you want to auto connect to > check "Auto connect to this desktop".

Error While creating new database connection from HFM workspace

Hi,
We have recently installed HFM and was trying to create database connection from database connection manager in HFM workspace.
I am getting below error:
"Error connecting to database connection : no HssJNIDriver950 in java.library.path" initially and later
"Error connecting to database connection : com/hyperion/ap/adm/HssConn".
Any information in this direction would helpful.

You can create a database connection in Financial Reporting Studio. When you refresh a report with a Financial Management database connection, you receive one of the following messages:
“1001: Error connecting to database connection <DATABASE_CONNECTION_NAME>: com/hyperion/ap/adm/HssConn”

Cause:

Solution:
In the Windows registry, take the following steps:
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HyperionSolutions\FinancialReporting0\HyS9FRReports.
For each of the following entries, prefix the contents with text in the blue box: Env2, JVMOption13, and JVMOption17 (note that the JVMOption numbers might be slightly different in your environment).

How to save open files in different projects/workspaces?

Is it possible at all to have Dreamweaver save different sets of open files in different projects/workspaces like every other IDE out there?
I can't imagine every web developer is working on ONE project at a time and doesn't feel the need to switch to another one and have his last open files restored from that specific project..
Am I missing something?

I am talking about saving different sessions of open files automatically (and assign them to user-defined projects that may or may not contain several sites or just one site).

Hey Gaito,
great. Now that you have a template project, you need to create one or more templates within the project template.
Go to tab Templates (of your Templ Proj) and activate 'Global Rollout Functionnality' to be able to use the templates.
Create a new template thanks to button create. Visibility will be set to red 'private'. You ll have to set it to visible so it becomes visible from your implementation project.
You ll see when trying to do that next message 'No scenarios/configuration structures assigned to the template XXXX'. That means that in SOLAR01 you did not define a scenario that ll be used in template you re trying to create
In order to do that go to SOLAR01 for template project, select/create scenarios in tab structure and set in column template value of your template (the one you re creating in SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN) and in Global Attribute set value t Global
You l definitely find more info on this in sap document SMI310 (course). I don t know if you can find it on internet

but we can access url PWA site in browser.
but when we connect to pass through internet we can connect project professional 2013 to project online.

open port 443.
anybody know how to troubleshoot this problem? or other port to open beside port 443.

Is it possible to view planned cost of Easy Cost Plan version of a PS Project in Project Workspace (Commercial Project Management)? We have installed only Project Work space and not Project Financial Planning.
Is there a possibility to link Easy cost plan to master project in CPM? As we have not installed PFP, we cannot configure ' Define Plan scenarios, plan types, version types' under Project Cost and Revenue Planning in SPRO.

I wouldn't think you would be able to use PowerShell as that is more concerned with administration. However, you could probably use SQL to get at the data - the tables are defined in the SDK - http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=30435

The photos have just been dumped into a new home and need to be told how to be arranged. Go to the top left of the browser view for the merged project and select the desired sort order from the drop-down and they'll all sort according to that setting.

I'm having the same issue. I've been able to work around it by opening the txt file and copying the contents. Then I open a new file in Sublime Text 2, paste the contents and save the new file as "project.json". It seems to work, but it'd been nice if I didn't have to do this everytime I publish a new project.

Error when manually adding user to project workspace

I am currently using Project Server 2010. I have a requirement for Business Users to have access to the project workspaces in Sharepoint but not be users of the PWA. Similar to as it is outlined in this Microsoft Documentation (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc197668(v=office.14).aspx)
There might be a circumstance where you want to grant people who are not members of the project access to the project workspace site. Anyone assigned to the Web Administrator group can create new users for a project workspace site. In addition to the
four groups that were mentioned earlier, there are four default SharePoint Server 2010 groups. They are as follows:
Full Control   Has all personal, site, and list permissions.
Design   Can edit lists, document libraries, and pages in the Web site.
Contribute   Can view pages and edit list items and documents.
Read   Can view pages, list items, and documents.
I have added the user to the Contributor group but when they try to contribute to the space, ie add documents or an issue/risk, they recieve an error, similar to as is documented in the following article (http://pwmather.wordpress.com/2011/07/11/manually-adding-users-to-project-workspace-project-site-in-projectserver-ps2010-ps2007-epm/)
What has been identified in this article makes sense.  I am just wondering why Microsoft documentation states that it can be done.
Any thoughts?

The Microsoft article says, users who are not part of the project. It does not say not part of project server.
However, as far as I can remember, this scenario could work if the "Synchronization" is turned off between Project Server and Project Sites. I will run a test and confirm, later today.

Migrating SP 2007 site which is using the template Project Workspace (Id 6215) to SP 2013

We have our SharePoint 2007 with project server installed on it. It is only one server having all of the components including SQL server and SP 2007. We are planning to migrate one of the site which is using the
Project Workspace Template(Id 6215) to the SP 2013 environment using Database
Attach Method.
Questions:
1) Is there any workaround available we can migrate the site to SP 2013 without
installing project server?
2) If there is no other workaround, we may need the justification or supports articles to share with our management.

Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that the error occurred when you tested the database.
I recommend to check if the site template exists in the folder located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\1033\XML.
If yes, then restart the SharePoint machine and run the PowerShell command Test-SPContentDatabase again.
If not, please re-install the template to see if the issue still occurs.
If the sites with issue are no longer needed, then you can delete the sites with issue. Or you can
rename the site template with a standard template id.
