Error :08-0E89-0000 Recovery error
I have a Satellite L770D-ST4N01 giving me an error at recovery. 08-0E89-000, partition creation failed when I tried to use the recovery wizard. I have a recovery CD made when I first purchased the laptop, I can boot from this CD but cannot get it to restart as brand new.
What is my next step? I'm afraid to hit the option "erase hard disk/drive" since I do not have a windows installation disk, and I wasn't sure if the recovery disks purchased from Toshiba are different than the one recovery disk I made.
Please help.
Thanks.
Hi ! You will get quicker replies by opening your own message. Yes a bad HD could cause this and so could other things. You can test your drive with seatools dos.

What Is a Hard Drive?
On a basic level, a hard drive functions analogously to a standard cassette tape. Both are magnetic storage mediums that have the potential to write and rewrite over sections of storage medium. The data are stored on a series of magnetic platters. The data are accessed by way of a read/write head. As the platters are spun, the head can detect or modify the magnetic material below, allowing the user to view or alter the stored data.
Reasons for Drive Failure
Hard drives are mechanical devices with moving parts, so they are subject to expected wear and tear, and can potentially fail mechanically at any given time. But most manufacturers will label their product with an expected average lifespan (usually provided in total expected number of functioning hours). But if a part is faulty or there are some manufacturing defects, a drive's lifespan can be over in as little as a day. Other factors are primarily external in nature. Power surges can cause drive failure, as can fire or water damage, along with a number of computer viruses. Exposure to high levels of magnetism can disrupt the normal functions of a drive, along with sharp impacts. If dust gets into a drive, it can become the catalyst for an eventual failure.
I Love my Satellite L775D-S7222 Laptop. Some days you're the windshield, Some days you're the bug. The Computer world is crazy. If you have answers to computer problems, pass them forward.

03-EEEE-0000 Recovery Disc Error
Bad recovery disc. I installed an OEM version and everything worked fine.
Hi seewill,
This is interesting so can you give us more details please? I mean what notebook model you have and when you get this error message exactly.
Of course, in worst case the recovery disk is faulty but maybe the DMI informations are not set as Akuma wrote you had only to format the HDD before.

Error :08-0E89-0000
I have a A205-S4607. Encountered the error :08-0E89-0000 upon trying to reformat the system. Read that it usually means failing hard drive. Bought replacment drive, and going thru the Toshiba Recovery, the same error returns...saying it cannot format partition. Any help would be appreciated.
It sounds like there might be a more fundamental failure with the laptop. I'd recommend contacting customer support at (800) 457-7777.

I can not Restore My iPhone 5s error 1
Hi;
I have difficulty restoring my iphone 5s.It's strange story,my phone used to work Ok and i just wanted to upgrade to 7.1.1 via ipsw and itunes. This is what i did for many of my friends in last few days and already doing the same for others but this happened to my own iphone. It stops in the middle of restore and gives error 1.I'm using the current version of itunes and considered all security measures like checking firewall.I'm sure of it cause i do restore other iPhones and iPads and they have no problem. Also tried and Mac and still have the same error.
I checked all Apple suggestions in "http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275" but none could help. Can you please help me with this case?

Please help, problems running recovery
hi, i have a satellite P755-S5262 RUNNING WINDOWS 7 64BIT WITH AN i7 PROCESSOR
when i first got my laptop i was having some minor problems with it so i did a restore from the harddrive and that fixed things up. i made some recovery media and the went about setting it up, the made a backup with nere back it up 11. later on more problems and i tried to restore from nero back up and backup didn't work so i tried recovery and it won't recover from the hard drive but my recoverey media worked and everything was fine. so one late sleepy night
i triede to install some free software which didn't work so i uninstalled it using REvo uninstall and made a bad mistake, windows would not boot. most of the repair options, including toshiba recovery were not coming up.
i had my media but after inserting disc one it said files were loading and the nothing happened. anyway i finally got
recoverey to come up but after choosing out of box recovery with partitions the same i got thew message preparing partitiuons and the error 08-0E89-0000 PARTITION preperation failed
please help!If the problem is with the recovery media, ordering replacement recovery media might be able to help.
If that doesn't work, it could be a failing hard drive.

Toshiba satellite L305D-S5934 hard drive problem
Trying to do a system recovery on my laptop and not having any luck. These are the errors I get..
Error 08-0e89-0000 partition creation failed
No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key
Error : 20-FFFE-045D
I have tried every recovery option and Toshiba sent me recovery disks but still no luck. Anything else I should try? Thanks in advance!A friend of mine asked me to look at their Toshiba laptop having same issues with hard drive that I have read about "Error 20-FFFE-045D",we have since replaced the hard drive based upon info I read about that error online and we are still receiving the same error message upon reinstall of windows on the laptop. Any other possible things we can look into?

At wits end, Satellite A215-S5818
Simply put; computer crashed, it wouldent reboot. I could get to the first Toshiba screen and startup the recovery disk though. So I started the recover process and suddenly- Error- 08-0E89-0000 - then the computer ejects the disk and shuts down. If I dont command it to boot the recovery disk then it just cycles through the first Toshiba picture screen over and over until I shut it down.
If I remove either of the memory sticks then the computer just wont start AT ALL. They both have to be in for the computer to even try to start.
I've looked and looked but cant find anyone else with this exact problem or even error code.
ANY idea anyone? I'm guessing HHD or something on the motherboard is bad. Any ideas or easy ways to diagnose would be extremly helpful. Thanks in advance.
Oh yeah, its out of warrenty, so no hope there.
-DavidI haven't seen anything definitive on this one yet. None of the people who have posted this problem on various forums have never bothered to reply that any specific remedy solved their problem. Most of the suggestions seem to revolve around the hard drive going bad. My suggestion is:
determine what brand of hard drive you have.
Go to that manufacturers support site.
Download their self booting diagnostic CD iso image.
Create the disk according to the instructions.
Boot to the disk and run the most exhaustive tests available to determine if the drive is bad or not.
If you do find the solution would you please be kind enough to post back so we atually know what the cause is?

Computer won't boot after last BIOS update from Toshiba.
It was working fine before the update. Shut down and can't boot; blank screen with blinking cursor. I have followed the suggestions of getting into the computer but the HDD cannot be found. Finally got into BIOS but when I run repair I get error: 08-0E89-0000---Partition Creation Failed. Any help would be greatly appreciately. I have a Satellite A665-S6086 running Win 7 Home 64-bit.
Thanks Peter for your reply but that is a non-issue now as I purchased a new HD WD750 Black to replace the one I was having problems with and the recovery worked fine, so I thought. When the computer goes to sleep or hibernate, I don't know which the HD fails on waking. I was going to try recovery again but instead I reseated the HD and it booted. This has happened a couple times since the initial 'fail' but seems to Restart fine. but I have only done it once. Of course all of these problems started after BIOS 2.30 update last week.
BTW I had tried all the steps provided to other members having the same problem (Puppy, recovery disk, pressing 0 and removing battery while holding something down) but was getting nowhere and it seemed to me that all HDs can't all fail at once. So that's why I added the part about the BIOS update that no one seemed to acknowledged. computer working, install update and restart and the HD failed; yes to me it was questionable. Additionally, judging by some of the repair technics it is assumed that we members are more advanced or that buy our recovery disk will fix the problem but it does not fix every problem especially if the HD is not recognized. But what do I know. -
Recovery Disc Errors 03-EEEE-0000
When following the instructions to hold down "C" while turning on power, this is supposed to initiate the factory restore process. Instead, windows loads files and takes me to a screen with two options one is the Toshiba recovery wizard. When this is selected I get "ERROR has occurred 03-EEEE-0000" Whats up with this?
Have tried this procedure 10X with the same result.
PLEASE HELP
thx

When I use toshiba recovery CD disk made from my computer i get the error above.
I started erasing the hard drive (not with overwrite sectors) Which I think might solve the problem.
Computer specsHi mate
Please check Toshiba European driver page for firmware update.
If there is a new firmware update which is released for your CD/DVD drive, then update this. At the other hand the CD/DVD drive might not handle this special disk because of compatibility issue. Yes, this is possible and therefore you should copy this Recovery disk to another disk (TDK R or verbatim) using another computer. Then you could try to recover the notebook using this new disk.
Had a similar problem in the past and I copied the disk too. -
pls help me to fix this problem.

How can I fix this error?Hi Seth,
I think your script will be useful, please share them
Here it is. It does the same items that the DPM tool does to the domain, with a few extra steps noted at the top.
We create a group that has the permissions on the container, with the hope that one day, this feature will be available (DCR submitted). In our support model, we would rather delegate permissions to support personnel to modify group membership than
modify ACLs on system containers. Your opinion on this may differ, so, feel free to remove it.
It also gives our support personnel permissions to modify the sharemap container - so they can enable DPM EUR servers later.
Both of these have been working fine for preparing a domain / enabling EUR. Preparing the domain is run by domain admin, then, we leave enabling EUR to our support staff.
Remember, this is not supported, this just makes the same changes that the EUR tool does. You should use the EUR tool from Microsoft.

X201 - Error Code 0000: Read Verification Failed
Hi All
for the last 2 weeks i have seen a rise in X201 laptops with "Error Code 0000: Read Verification Failed" we have about 500 of these laptops in the comapany, we started roling them out about a year ago and now we are getting about 10 a week come back with this error message.
is anyone else getting this error? is this a design fault with the hard drive? any info would be good
Thanks
PaulI have replaced HD's on two of these for clients. On one I was able to run DFT to check it and clone the recovery partition with Acronis. The other one I could do nothing with.
Grand Rapids computer repair and virus removal -
Keep getting errors during recovery from recovery media?
My hard drive failed on my L655-S5065 Laptop.
I replace the Hard Drive, Purchased the Toshiba Recovery Media and updated the BIOS.
The first disc of the media loads fine. The second disc runs for about 20 minuntes then kicks back the error code (0A-0543-0000). After the first failed recovery I used the "erase hard drive" option on the recovery media, tried the recovery again and same error code?
Thanks for the help, SteveI'd suggest contacting support and telling them what happens. It's possible that there's a problem with the discs, and if it hasn't been too long since you purchased them, maybe you can get another set. However, I don't know what the policy is regarding that.

ERROR: CPU RED-State Exception Reset Recovery
Installed the latest released firmware patch 119244-03 to a Sunfire V880. Now the system is in a continuous loop. The error message can only be viewed via a RSC. There is no way to break the loop and the OBP password has been altered by this, thus no way going through this ideal unless there is some other OBP password that I am not aware of when this firmware is placed on.
If anyone has any suggestions, please provide them before I kick the living #$#! out of this system.
Thanks!

0:0>Test CPU(s).....I had a similar problem with the "CPU RED-State Exception Reset Recovery" message and the circular booting. Replacing the graphics card fixed the problem.
Problem history:
I had a refurb V490 that was set to console to ttya. The base OS and some drivers had been installed by a coworker, but I was going to configure the network, disk, etc. I could not log in with the password he had given me. We concluded that the password was trashed and I tried booting from CDROM. On the Wyse terminal this was frustrating, but there was a video card and a VGA console already hooked up, so I decided to do boot prom "input-device=keyboard" and "output-device=screen". I then tried "boot cdrom" and got the circular booting with the "CPU RED-State..." error message. I tried plain old "boot", same problem. And no output to the console monitor. I almost called Sun to check out the CPUs, but I was suspicious. Searched, found the notes in this forum. Located a new video card, installed it. Booted up flawlessly from disk, and tried to log in again. This
time the password worked perfectly as well, so I didn't bother with the cdrom booting.
Thanks for the help. And you guys who made fun of the guy with the graphics card solution, be more considerate next time, eh?
