  • False paper jam error message on Officejet All-in-Ones

I've been helping a not-so-techie friend with his J6450 false paper jam errors.  He's now on his second one (got replacement from HP) and has same exact problem.  (We think the paper sensor is getting stuck and causing error message.)
His problem is by no means unique.  I have looked at customer reviews for this printer on many vendors' websites, and have seen horrible reviews of HP's all-in-ones because of the false paper jam error message.  By the way, none of the suggestions here seem to fix the problem, so don't waste your time uninstalling and re-installing the software.  The problem is mechanical.
With so many posts regarding false paper jam errors on these HP All-in-Ones, HP should replace these printers with a different model that does NOT have this problem, if such a model exists, at no charge, of course.

I have just spent the last 3 hours thinking I have been overlooking paper somewhere in my J6450 after consistently getting a paper jam error.  Of course my warranty has expired!  Just wondering if it would be worth fixing OR NOT?

  • Can I update free to Windows 10 from my Aspire ZC-102 All in One desktop from Windows 8.1?

Can I update free to Windows 10 from my Aspire ZC-102 All in One desktop from Windows 8.1?I bought my ACER with Windows 8 on it a year ago thru HSN. Then I upgraded to 8.1 using the Store thing on the computer. I've not been a fan of 8 or 8.1. I'm told that Windows 10 comes out on Friday and that upgrades are free somehow. Maybe that's thru doing the beta testing that I've read about. I don't know. But I'm not in very good shape financially and my computer's operating system is going nuts on me so an upgrade would probably fix things pretty well.
I'd tried to do a Repair Install of 8.1 but was somehow told that since I'd upgraded from 8, a Repair Install couldn't be done thru the Control Panel. I'm clueless and I'm hurting. Can I have some help please?

Thanks. I see that white icon down by the clock that hovered says GET WINDOWS 10. So even though I downloaded Windows 10 yesterday and burned it into being a bootable DVD, I went ahead and just Reserved My Upgrade since the DVD hasn't been cooperating. When I stuck it in and hit any key as the ACER started, it brought me to a screen that I couldn't figure out what to do on. I was clueless and I didn't want to cause myself any grief by just trying anything. I did just backup my28+ GB of Photos, Docs, Desktop, Downloads & Music.
But I don't want to accidentally do a clean install, which I've done before on my XP Tablet pc and that sure isn't any fun for a novice like me.
I only use Office 2013 and an old Paint Shop Pro 6.0 which is really old and isn't their newer v6 so it has to run in Compatibility Mode in 8.1. I'm not an APP guy either. I do use OmniPass software for passwords so I can Save and Restore them if needed, so I had to buy a 64 bit version of that to run on this ACER.
So I guess my next step is to just wait for a Notification from Microsoft that I can now switch to 10 which I think it said will just download so my DVD won't even be needed for anything but as a repair tool. That icon you told me about brought up a screen and on it it said that it found my PC to be compatible with Windows 10. So does that mean that drivers and everything ACER will work as they should or will I need to get anything off the ACER site to make my PC work with Windows 10?

  • Photosmart printer -all-in-one 5520 and windows 8.1 - INSTALLATION ERROR

I have a photosmart printer - model: all-in-one 5520; code number HPC57CC4  and my operating system is windows 8.1.
I had problems with the scan function and so I decided to disinstal the printer (from the Control Panel) and I even cancelled  the HP folders.
Then I tried to reinstal the printer with the original CD but I got the message: INSTALLATION ERROR - DRIVER PACKAGE INSTALL GIVES THE ERROR -536870329 FOR THE PACKAGE  C:\Program Files\HP\HP Photosmart 5520 series\DriverStore\Pipeline\hpvpl09.inf   (that's the translation from Italian)
I have tried endless times to install with the online software from the HP assistance (hppsdr.exe, hppiw.exe, ps5520_1315-1.exe, hpscan and doctor) but I always get the above error message, the system recognizes my printer, but gives the error message few seconds after starting installing it.
If i use the printer from other PCs it's ok, I've also tried both in the wireless modality and with the USB cable but the result is the same: no installation!

  • Remove and check cartridge on right error message on 7410 all in one

I recently changed the black ink cartridge in my 7410 all in one printer. After changing cartridge it gave me an error message of " Remove and check cartridge on right". I have tried removing and reinstalling , cleaning connection points with clean damp cloth (water) and still cannot get error message to go away.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

    NoProblemAtoll wrote:
I know this is an older thread but being it is a top Google result associated with the "Remove and check cartridge on right" error it justifies adding a helpful suggestion for other.  Our findings have been HP Printers are very biased against refilled \ recycled cartridges.  I own a total of (5)x HP 7310 and HP 7410 printers in my IT Consulting office.  These are feature rich MFP’s with an abundant supply of ink available at generously economical prices.  On the face of it, it sounds like a good reason to keep a bevy of last gen printers around. EXCEPT the printers work great with the $30-$50 brand new HP brand 96 cartridges from Office Depot or Staples.  Unfortunately if you try and buy some recycled cartridges off ebay the Printers detect the recycled\refilled cartridges as a previously depleted HP cartridge that may not be genuine and the units suddenly turn on you.  Miraculously the "Remove and check cartridge on right" only manifests itself with non-HP brand cartridges or cartridges that have been refilled.  (We have even tried to re-fill out own refreshly depleted cartridges with like results.)  Think of it as an HP service reminder conveying you forgot to pay HP their $30-$50 profit on your ink this go round.  Remember you need HP Branded ink cartridges (HP = Homogeneously Proprietary).  It’s like an intention flaw written into the firmware.  Best guess (purely on conjecture) is there is a check in the firmware/drivers for if the cartridges has been previously installed, previously depleted, max install count, and expiration date validation.  If it encounters a condition it doesn’t like you get this nondescript error.
    [advertisement snipped]
The above post is filled with conjecture and speculation, but is not based on fact.  The Officejet7410 is not programmed to reject refilled/reman cartridges.  It will check cartridges electrically for various things and will reject cartridges that fail.  Typical failures would include a cracked printhead (caused by rough treatment - dropping the cartridge even a few inches for example), or open electrical connections caused by   debris on the cartridge contacts.  Cleaning the cartridge contacts as shown in the document here may resolve the issue in case of poor electrical contacts.
A cartridge that has been previously used in a different printer will likely be marked as empty, but the printer will happily print with a cartridge detected as empty.
The reality is that the quality of refill and reman cartridges are very variable, but generally poor.  The study here has a study conducted by a testing facility, here is another study.
My personal experience has been similar.  I donated an HP all-in-one to my son's high school years ago.  Sometime later I got a call from the teacher complaining that it was not printing properly.  I went and took a look and found they had put in a renam color cartridge that was not printing one of the colors*. They tried another cartridge, which also had a problem and then finally the third cartridge worked.  I asked why they used renam cartridges and he said they bought these because they were cheaper.  I asked if they were 1/3 the cost....
*The color missing had nothing to do with the printer - blotting the bad cartridge on a damp tissue gave only two of the three colors that would normally be present.

  • HP PSC 2410 All-In-One - use in Windows 7 64-bit environment

    Hi,
I have had this HP PSC 2410 All-In-One printer for some years now and it has worked pretty flawlessly in a Windows XP Pro SP3 environment for that time.
Some months ago, I purchased a new computer system and went to the Windows 7 64-bit OS (not interersted in Windows 8 at all) and whilst I have installed the printer successfully and it works, the software suite that came with the printer on the CD will not install for this environment and therefore I no longer have access to the various Maintenance Options that were available under the Windows XP Pro OS, such as the cleaning and Fax options.
Searching for something for the Windows 7 64-bit OS threw up two options - the driver update and the utilities tool wizard.   After going down the driver update route, no software suite was available and in fact the update stated that the driver was installed by Windows 7 automatically.  That seems to be the case as the printer works fine in print mode, scan mode (from the desktop menu) and it detects SD cards through the slots.
However, there is no software to allow me to fax or clean or do any of the other options available under the HP Suite that came on the CD.
Going down the Utility route got me downloading a file - HPPIW.EXE - that would look at my current printer installation and check with HP for any updates.   After many attempts, the utility simply CANNOT find my printer even though it is installed, works properly and even windows sees it!   No amount of recycling the ON/OFF button or rebooting the computer allows this utility to detect the printer at all.  It is installed via USB on the Windows 7 64-bit Family PC and windows updates are always fully updated.
I am currently considering the purchase of a new HP OfficeJet 8600 Pro Plus to use as the family printer with the Windows 7 system - and move this HP PSC 2410 upstairs to connect it directly to my Windows XP Pro SP3 personal desktop and use the original CD to install it.  My Canon IP4200 Pixma has just died on my personal PC upstairs.
However, until I do that, is there any of the Software Suite available that would work in the Windows 7 environment that would allow me to use the various functions such as Fax and cleaning that were available under the old XP environment and obtained via the CD?  Was the Suite of software ever updated for Windows 7?
    Thank you,

    Hi BAW9DV,
I hate to hear you are having issues.  While there will not is not a specific software utility that will complete the tasks desired, maintenance can be completed from the front panel of the unit.  Windows also has an application for faxing from the computer as well that may work with this device. Please see the information below that may enable the functions desired.
    Faxing:
    1. Use Windows Fax and Scan
       A. Type Windows Fax and Scan into search box
       B. Configure fax machine for use.  Click Here to view Microsoft documentation for use.  Note: This is a 3rd party website. HP and I are not responsible for content of this site.
       C. Select New Fax
    Maintenance tasks from front panel:
Running the Clean Print Cartridges Utility Click Here
    Printing setf-test page Click Here
    Evaluate test page Click Here
Align the Cartridges: Press setup-Press 5, then press 2
If you the work around options are not acceptable the 8600 model would most certainly meet your needs when compared with this unit.  However I encourage you to contact HP to see what upgrade options are available for this unit. It will most likely be another Photosmart model/type unit, but in many cases upgrades are offered at a discounted rate to our valued out of warranty customers.  Global contact information can be accessed Here.
P.S.  If you upgrade through technical support, be sure to ask about carepacks.  Extended warranties may also be available at a discounted rate for upgrading.

HP OJ 6500 Wireless all-in-one, using Win 7 64-bit OS.  Initially configured for both USB cable and wireless when purchased.  Wireless drivers updated per setup instructions.  A year later, the wireless has gone on sabbatical.  I've re-installed the SW, downloaded the Win 7 OS drivers.  Can only print through USB cable.  Wireless still not functional.  Frustrating!

  • C6280 All-in-one driver for windows 8.1 - unalbe to select automatice 2 sided printing

I downloaded and installed the driver and full photo print for my old all-in-one but now I don't have the option for automatice two-sided printing.
Is there a different driver specifically for the C6280 printer I can download?
    pennyph

    Hi @pennyph,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums!  I see you have recently installed the full feature software and drivers for your HP Photosmart C6280 and now you do not have the option for two sided printing (Duplexing).
I would like you to start here: Printing on Both Sides of the Paper (Duplexing) in Microsoft Windows
Please make sure you have enabled the two-sided printing module (duplexer):
    1. Go into the Printers and Faxes folder.
    2. Right-click the device.
    3. Click Properties (not Printing Preferences).
    4. Open the Device Settings tab.
    5. If the duplex unit shows Not Installed, click Not Installed.
    Change it to Installed.
The Automatic selection is added to the list of Two-sided printing options in the Printing Preferences (not Printer properties).
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have anymore questions.
