Error 5002, using 1 click, renting movie

Trying to rent 'The Orphanage' on itunes U.S. store. Keep getting error 5002 - any ideas as to why this might be happening - any fixes? Seem to be able to order/download other movies/tv shows/music... really frustrating - can anyone HELP????!!!!! Tried logging in/out, changing to shopping cart to order, changing back etc....
any suggestions much appreciated.

Error 5002 when trying to rent movie

I've never had problems renting movies from the iTunes Store, but just tried to rent Footlose and it keeps giving me Unknown Error 5002. Any idea what the problem might be? I have an iMac, 10.7.3. I'm trying to rent the SD version.

That is the only logical conclusion. I have tried several times via ITunes and it never worked. Then I tried with my iPhone and I was able to rent a movie with no problems.
I doubt it would be fixed in the weekend. I sent an email to support about this error 5002.
I hope they will come back to me about it or maybe work on it soon enough.

I havn't had any problems renting movies in the past but today I am recieving error 5002 and it says you can't rent at this time. Anyone know how to fix this?

I also cannot rent movies tonight on my mac or apple tv. So glad I have invested so much in this stuff just to have it not work when I want it. Please fix this problem SOON!!!

Welcome to the Apple Community Jebson.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
    1.    Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
    2.    Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
    3.    Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    4.    Reset the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings)
    5.    Restore the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Restore)

Error 5002 when trying to rent

Anyone else getting this error when attempting to rent a movie? We also get "an unable to connect to itunes" message when attemping to rent a movie from our Apple TV.

What movie are you trying to rent? I am trying to get "The Orphanage", and am seeing this error. I can't rent either regular or HD version, either from AppleTV, nor from iTunes. I cannot purchase this film, either. However I can purchase music, and also can purchase TV shows, and could rent another HD movie title with no issues.
iTunes tech support had me reenter my payment information, but this did not solve the issue. Any other ideas?

Error 8008 or Error 50 when downloading a rented movie

I tried to rent J. Edgar from iTunes on my mac laptop and I continually get an error 8008 or an error 50 message. I've downloaded other movies with no problems. I've even gone into mu iTunes media folder, delted the download file and started up again. I've updated my iTunes to the latest and still no result. I'm at my wits end on what I can do?

If you continue to experience slow playback performance while connected to your local network via a wired (Ethernet) connection, consider contacting your Internet service provider (ISP) to increase the speed of your connection.

paid to download and rent a movie and I have tried 30 times and I always get the same error 8808 during the downloading. i don´t unterstand because I have the latest update on my computer and my internet is working well with any other applications. Please help me.

For the past two days I have been getting the following message when I try to rent a movie on Apple TV: "This item is currently being modified. Please try again later." Any ideas? Connects to my network with no problems. (Netflix streams fine.)

They could be updating the servers or fixing something give them some time and try again

Error -42110 trying to play rented movie

Hi, I'm in the process of downloading a rental, and when I click on the download to start playing, I am getting this error message:
"We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-42110).
There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later."
I've searched for the error number, but haven't been able to find anything. Does anyone have a suggestion?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it, which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

Itunes rented movies will not play and gives me an unknow error -42110 can anyone help me resolve this issue?

I have successfully used Itunes to rent movies on this computer several times in the past. This time however after paying for the rental movies and being prompted to play it I recived the following error message.
We could not complete your Itunes store request. An unknown error occured (-42110) There was an error in the itunes store. Please try again later.
I have updated the itunes stoftware and attempted multiple times over the past 2 days but to no avail. Tech support gave me a link to an article with error messages but the one I have was not covered by their article.
Can anyone shed some light on this issue for me?

Connect the iPhone. In iTunes click Rented Movies right by Movies. Then click the arrow over to the iPhone.

Does anyone have an issue with Apple TV not downloading movies. .. I just rented a movie, " download to watch later" option.. And now when I try to watch it I'm told to go to settings and select download....Problem is there is no " download" option in settings, or am I missing something. ?

Yes Me Too, I just rented Ireon Man3 and it stopped about 2/3 the way through. Now I get the same messages as above. " You have already rented movie, Check for downloads. But there is no option to check for downloads,
I sure I use see available Rented movies on the Home screen. But perhaps I misremember. They are not there now or anywhere.

iTunes movies downloaded and stored directly to your iPad and if you don't start playing a movie, stay on your iPad for 30 days.
If you start to play a downloaded, rented movie on your iPad, then it will expire in 24 hours.
Other services, like Amazon, Netflix and Hulu need an Internet connection to stream their content.
