Error assembling WAR: webxml attribute is required (or pre-existing WEB-INF

Hi All,
When i have tried to build a war with MAVEN, i am facing the below error, please let me know in case of any helpouts
Error assembling WAR: webxml attribute is required (or pre-existing WEB-INF/web.xml if executing in update mode)

This is what I was looking for: http://maveninjdeveloper.blogspot.com/2012/04/handle-adf-application-maven-ant.html
It further references:
- http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24382_01/user.1112/e17455/deploying_apps.htm#BACIIDEJ
- http://javaosdev.blogspot.in/2011/12/ojdeploy-documentation-for-tool.html
The only issue now is that Oracle JDeveloper release 11.1.2.2.0 (version being used) does NOT seem to support Ant while release 11.1.2.1.0 does. This necessitates a further kluge to make things work. The amount of difference between versions of JDeveloper is quite amazing.

  • WAR: making executable with reference to lib in WEB-INF/lib?

    I have a custom library (jar file) with a manifest to show version infos when started/double cliked. this works quite good. this jar file is now part of a bigger war file. now, i want to double click the war file to show the version info. i already added a manifest to the war file and double clicking works as expected but the (main) class is not found. i tried to add WEB-INF/lib/mylib.jar to the manifest Class-Path: entry, but that doesn't work. is there a way to tell the manifest, that it should look in the war's web-inf/lib subdirectory to look for classes? or is this an approach that couldn't be solved?

    My first reaction here is to say you shouldn't do that. It seems to me that you're just asking for trouble when you start modifying the manifest class path of your WAR to try and make it an executable war - if you do succeed you might end up not being able to have the thing function as a WAR.
    but that aside, I don't think (I've not tested/invistigated this very much) that you can access classes contained withing jars that are themselves contained within a jar without doing some sort of custom classloader craziness - and if you have to go down that route then you definitely don't want t o muck up your WAR like that.
    I suggest that you create a Servlet (or Struts action, or whatever you have going on) such that when you hit that via a JSP (possibly protected via some sort of security) you get the results of your versioning method dumped out on your browser. That would be more "natural" and go with the Zen of the technology you're using.
    Good Luck

  • WEB-INF/web.xml not found exception for deployed war on server startup

    Weblogic server is throwing an exception indicating that it can't find
              web.xml on startup when a particular war file is deployed. The exception
              and my web.xml follow below.
              There are some other strange elements to this:
              1) The deployed war in the application directory has a valid web.xml in the
              web-inf folder.
              2) The war in the servers temp directory corresponding to my war contains
              only the files found in WEB-INF in the deployed jar, but not those found in
              web-inf (case matters). These files are in the root of the war, not in a
              WEB-INF folder!
              3) The servlets in the war do load and are invokable.
              4) If I redeploy the jar while the server is still running, I get no
              exception, and the temp war then has the correct structure (with a WEB-INF
              folder and contains web.xml).

              Interesting.
              This shouldn't happen though.
              Can you stop the server delete the .wl_temp_do_not_delete

  • WAR Deployment Problem (WEB-INF/web.xml not found)

              I have a war application and WebLogic 5.1 with Svr Pack 8 failed to deploy it
              when it start up. Here is what I did,
              1. I jared all necessary files including WEB-INF\web.xml in the myapp.war file;
              here I used all uppercase for WEB-INF directory, but after I jared it, it shew
              up web-inf\web.xml but WEB-INF\lib\pushlet.jar in the myapp.war file. I think
              this is the behavior of jar program.
              2. I appended the myapp.war to the weblogicclasspath in the start script;
              3. In weblogic.properties file, I specified two lines:
              weblogic.httpd.webApp.myapp=c:/weblogic/default/myapp.war
              weblogic.httpd.defaultWebApp=myapp
              4. Then I start up the WebLogic server named "default". It shew the following
              error messages:
              java.io.FileNotFoundException: Directory myapp\ does not contain WEB-INF/web.x

  • Class not found in web-inf/classes folder of war file within ear file

    Hi all,
              I am using Weblogic 8.1 sp4. I have a war file within an ear file. I am trying to deploy the war file with a few classes within its web-inf/classes folder, however when the classes are in that folder I consistently get a class not found exception when trying to instantiate them. If I package the classes in a jar file and then put that jar file within the web-inf/lib folder of the war, the classes are also not found.
              If I put these two classes in the app-inf/classes folder of the ear file, everything works as expected and the classes are found.
              Any ideas of why this is happening. This seems to be a very simple thing that should work, but appears to not be working at all.
              thanks in advance for any suggestions or ideas.

    Hi,
              This is a known limitation/issue with WL. There is also no way around this.

    Hi Pcmichaels,
    Thanks for your reply.
    As far as I know there’s an actual/direct fix or KB for this error, we need to troubleshooting which specific operation or update caused the error.
    If it ever happen in your production TFS Server, and it not be resolved, we suggest you contact a professional support service to resolve this error.
    When an error happened in a TFS Server, we should resolve this error in this current TFS Server version. Don’t upgrade this ‘issue’ TFS Server to higher version of TFS before you resolve/remove this error from current TFS Server, unless the higher version
    of TFS released the KB to resolve this specific error. Which issues be fixed in Update 4, you can check the list in this KB:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2994375/. If this specific error is not a known/fixed issue in Update 4, it may be cannot upgrade to Update 4 successfully, and may cause the new issue in Update
    4 Server if you force upgrade completely. Then it’s hard to find the root cause of this specific issue in Update 4 Server.

  • We have two users that have been using Creative Cloud for almost a year. Recently, sometime in the last 4ish weeks, the users can no longer run Creative Cloud apps. (Yes, our subscription is paid.) Error simply says administrator access is required

    We have two users that have been using Creative Cloud for almost a year. Recently, sometime in the last 4ish weeks, the users can no longer run Creative Cloud apps. (Yes, our subscription is paid.) Error simply says administrator access is required to install. The apps have already been installed. The users cannot run them unless they are in the local admin group.Using "Run as admin" does not work. It gives the same error.
    I have opened a case with adobe support and was basically told to suck it up and put the users in the admin group. Actually, what was said was that it is "mandated that the users have administrative rights".
    There are a couple of things wrong with this. It was working for both users until recently - a recent required creative cloud update. The users have never been local admins yet the apps were working (poorly, but working).
    We are in an enterprise environment and users simply do not have administrative rights on the computers.
    I have changed permissions on all adobe folders, granting users or authenticated users modify or full control rights, did the same in whatever Adobe registry HKLM keys I could find. Nothing has allowed the users to run the apps - unless they are put in the local admin group.
    Someone has to have a fix for this. Adobe apps have proved to have far too many vunerabilities to even entertain the idea of elevating user rights. I can't imagine that enterprise environments are allowing this.
    Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Jeff,
    Thank you for your response. The users in question are "standard" domain users. We do not reduce users permissions below the standard level.
    The apps do not load with their current standard user permissions.
    The thing that makes this odd, is that up until recently they did this issue with cloud apps. The only way I can make it work for them now is to put them in the local administrator group on their pc's - which is not going to happen.
    This is what they now see. As I said before, this was not a problem up until recently they would see all their available apps. If I put them in the local admin group the apps are listed without having to install. Everything is there, just not accessible to the user.

    Your data does not match the schema. You can validate with XmlSpy or some other tool for a second opinion.
    The error message indicates an attribute 'discountprice' was found where none was expected. (perhaps it should be some_ns:discountprice).

  • Error when adding an attribute to a redifined entity

    Dear Gateway experts,
    I have the following problem:
    In the service builder I have successfully created and activated an OData Service with several entities. Now I have created a second service and have redefined one of the entities of the first service. Finally I have added one attribute to this entity in the second service. Also this service could be generated succesfully. But when calling the service I get the error message "Property [NEW ATTRIBUT] of data object [ENTITY] has no Internal type assigned."
    In the MPC class of the second service I see, that the structure belonging to the entity has been updated with this new attribute.
    But the exporting parameter ET_ENTITYSET of the DPC class refer to the structure definition of the MPC class of the first service (because the inherite from them) without the new attribute.
    So my problem is now, hoc can I add an attribute to a redfined entity without getting this error and be able to fill the export table?
    Thanks a lot in advance!
    Regards,
    Juergen

    Hi Ron,
    thanks for your quick reply!
    The entity of the original service is structure based. But the new attribute in the redefined service is not part of this structure. However I have added it manually and also filled the corresponding ABAP type in the column "ABAP Field Names".
    The method DEFINE_<ENTITY> is only available in the MPC class of the original service. And this method is private so I can't call it from the subclasses.
    In the MPC class of the redefined service there is a private method CREATE_NEW_ARTIFACTS, which is called in the method DEFINE. In this method the new attribute is already added to the entity, in the same way the other attributes were added in the DEFINE_<ENTITY> method:
    lo_entity_type = model->get_entity_type(
         iv_entity_name = '<entity>' ).
    lo_property = lo_entity_type->create_property(
         iv_property_name  ='<attribute>'
         iv_abap_fieldname = '<ATTRIBUTE in ABAP>' ).
    lo_property->set_type_edm_string( ).
    So I am not sure, what else to add in these methods.
    Regards,
    Juergen

    I figured out what was causing this for me. Apparently, the new Manifest reader
    classes in WLS SP2 are a lot pickier ( polite way of saying they dont handle exception
    cases very well ;-) ). I had 2 third-party jar files in my WEB-INF/lib directory
    whose manifests had issues that the Manifest reader could not handle. One of
    them was a header line that wrapped and the other had extra lines at the end of
    the file. I had to unjar them, fix the manifests, and re-jar them. the server
    started up fine after that.
    It might be nice if they provided a better error message than "String Index Out
    Of Bounds: -1" for this problem, but hey, you can't have everything because where
    would you put it :)
