That is correct as well. The developer center image owners replaced the normal default XS Running Screen with what they feel is the more useful SAP HANA Developer Edition launch page.

Hi Diane,
sometimes AWS needs 24 hours to fully enable the AWS account.
How much time did elapse between the time you created the AWS account and the time you entered the credentials in CAL?

AWS - Cannot Terminate SAP HANA, developer edition 1.0 Rev 72

Hi,
yesterday I tried setting up an SAP HANA, developer edition 1.0 Rev 72 . However, the instance didn't get fully created, due to permissions issues with the AWS account I was using. So, I set up a new AWS account, and wanted to try again with the new AWS account.
However, I now have a "Prepared" instance that will not Terminate - if I try and terminate it, I get the following error:
Instance Operation Failed
Operation Terminate failed with message: AMAZON : You are not authorized to perform this operation.
Could you please manually delete this instance for me, because I am unable to move forward without being able to remove this instance.

The first AWS account I used is a corporate AWS account. In this account my permissions were restricted, hence I don't think it ever fully prepared the instance.
The second AWS account I used, has a valid credit card attached, but, I can't switch it over to using this AWS account because I still have an Instance on the first account that I cannot, delete, remove, terminate. So until I can get rid of this broken instance, I can't do anything at all with the second AWS account.

AWS Instance Types for SAP HANA Developer Edition

According to the SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud Appliance Library, the recommended (and only) AWS instance type for running SAP HANA Developer Edition 1.0 SPS08 is m2.4xlarge; however, according to Amazon, this is a previous generation instance type. Per Amazon's upgrade path, the current generation upgrade from M2 is R3.
In addition, the m2.4xlarge instance type is costly for those who would like to expand their personal training experience beyond the free developer account on the HANA Cloud Platform.
Will the R3 instance types (specifically r3.large or r3.xlarge) be made available for running SAP HANA Developer Edition?

SQL Developer Error Creating User Home

SQL Developer was running fine on my Windows 7 64-bit machine until Monday morning. Now when I kick it off (from my Desktop shortcut), I get a small box saying: "Error creating user home in directory C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\SQL Developer".
There is no error number, and I have been unable to find this error in the SQL Developer documentation. What does it mean? It's possible that updates were pushed to my machine over the weekend (unknown -- network sysadmins are elsewhere), but I would have thought I would have gotten a different message if there were compatibility problems. Have I accidentally deleted a necessary file from my local SQL Developer folder? My connection databases are Oracle 11g.

So let's assume you no longer have write access to your own Windows user directory. To workaround that just add the following to one of the conf files in the SQL Developer installation folder. For example, to run SQL Developer from a flash drive, I modified my E:\sqldeveloper\ide\jdk.conf to include
AddVMOption -Dide.user.dir=../../.sqldeveloperSo that the user home is E:\.sqldeveloper

Can't start first instance...ORA-27504: IPC error creating OSD context

Oracle11gR1 RHEL4 AS - 64bit - 2 node RAC
I am having trouble starting the database from the first node. I can start the second node without any problems. When I go to start the first node I get the following error:

No alerts are being generated in the alert log. And I have looked at this errror in the docs and it says that it is related to OS/cluster interconnect but those are also fine as indicated in the alert log. I saw some metalink notes but they are specific to other OS's.

Presuming that no other changes were made to this
configuration and it stopped working , you might want
to attempt these steps :
a) You have already mentioned this but recheck the
alert.log file for this instanceThere is nothing in the alertlog.
to verify if there are any errors reported.
Check the udump / bdump locations for any trace files
which might give

Major problem is related to proxy as discussed above.
Check my proxy setting as am also using the PC out of corporate proxy.
Check for the Luno version details check the tools site.

Hi All,
I was trying to create Instance for SAP Application Server ABAP 7.4 SP5 incl. Business Warehouse on SAP HANA 1.0 SP7 [Developer Edition] in SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud / Cloud Appliance Library when I got this message 'Operation Start failed on step Allocate elastic IPs with message: Error creating static IPs; AMASON: The maximum number of addresses has been reached'.
I tried looking for an answer or solution for this issue but no success.
Can anyone please help me with this?

you need to check your Elastic IP limits within the AWS console and how to release them if they are used:

Error while deploying adf application on oracle cloud service

hello, i hv registered oracle cloud service for java and database. i hv created simple adf application in which there are 2 jsf pages only linked together. I m using oracle jdeveloper 11gr2. so i hv created ear file for deployment on cloud. i deployed adf application on cloud using java console. But, after uploading application, deployment was failed. I tried 3 times this, but the result was same. I checked log, where i got 3 warnings in whitelist log and error in deploy log. Those are as follows:

I am using jdeveloper 11gr2, so pls dont tell me to use jdeveloper 11gr1. because, i hv already developed an application for my final year B.Tech and i cant migrate to previous release. So there is only one way for me by generating ear file and deploying from console.

First of all, are you using ECLIPSE? What is your development
Environment. I had run into same issue, after hours of trying
different things, I installed the FLEX BUILDER and was able to
create the application without any issues. I have also noticed that
FLEX BUILDER works more smoothly than Eclipse and since then I have
been developing within FB.

My HANA developer studio is not at C:\ProgramFiles(x86) folder.

This problem is resolved - i updated my SAPGUI.

Error Creating Flexible Planning (MC93)

Hi I am implementing Flexible Planning and I have had problems changing characteristics in info structures.
1. First in Development environment I customized an info structure that i transport to QAS.
2. I deleted a characteristic in the info structure I generate again the tables and everything it´s ok and I execute transaction MCSY for resetting, then i transport to QAS and I don´t have problems.
3. The problem it´s when I add a new characteristic to the info structure I execute the same steps and I transport to QAS when I try to create a Planning (MC93) I got an error: "Internal error : 047 in routine Planning Coding" Message No. MA 098
I was looking for notes and there is the same error but in older versions and all the support packages have been implemented. I am using 4.6c version and I found this problem in older versions like 3.0 I really don´t know what it´s going on and i hope you could help me or maybe what could be the reason. I don´t think that it´s customizing.

HI, I proved like this:
1. I executed transaction MC8O for regenerating programs.
2. I executed transaction MC22 for generate info structure
3. I created a new transport order
4. I realesed the transport order
5. The transport was made from Development to QA
Again I got the following transport errors:
"Finished with return code 8" = 8 errors
I proved again with transaction MC93 for create a new Flexible Planning and I´ve got error 047 again.
What do you suggest???

BW on HANA - On Premise Vs Cloud ?

Hi Members,
Would like to know the key factors to decide on whether the customer should implement BW on HANA On-Premise or Cloud.
Any relevant SAP Documents would be a great help.

your question is not to be answered easily.
And you will also not find any recommendations about cloud or on prem in SAP documents.
The first question is: What is your understanding of 'cloud'?
If we are talking about cloud like amazon AWS - forget it for BW on HANA.
If you consider to give the HANA system to a professional SAP hosting provider - yes, why not. If they are experienced with operating and running HANAs, you can agree some SLAs with them - and they do the job.
But you have to think about all the connected systems too - usually you are loading lots of data into your BW system. On the application layer there is no compression so the traffic can be quite massive and the runtimes could exceed your needs very fast.
The projects and customers I know, are running the BW in same infrastructure as the other SAP landscape.
If the rest of the SAP landscape is running on premise - It is a good idea to calculate also HANA on prem.
With the TDI implementation solution its also possible to reuse existing hardware of storage and network - not to forget about the already existing infrastructure operation processes/knowledge.

HANA SPS07 in AWS; XSJS not working

When starting the new HANA SPS07 in AWS (Amazon Web Services), it seems XSJS is blocked as I can't seem to get the XSJS test screen to show.
I'm using the AMI that SAP provided by going to the EC2 dashboard => AMIs => Filter: Private Images (instead of Owned by me) => 'SAP HANA Developer Edition Rev 70' => Launch / Spot Request.
Then I tried going to the http://<hostname>:80<instance> to get the test-screen (XSJS is up and running), but instead I get a message 'Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to <hostname>' (or 'This page can’t be displayed' in internet explorer). The IDE page won't open either, the same message is returned.
First I thought it had something to do with security groups or some other VPC setting in AWS, but everything works perfectly fine when starting up the 'SAP HANA Developer Edition Rev 68' (or 60), using the same VPC and Security groups. Port 8000 is in the security group rules.
Furthermore, I can connect to the system throught HANA Studio and all lights are green when I go to the administration page in the HANA Studio. I've looked through the help documentation and haven't been able to find any reference on changes to the way XSJS is called or any services/parameters that have to be turned on. The only alternative now is to work with Revision 68, but I'd rather work with SPS 7 :-)
Can anyone help?

That is correct as well. The developer center image owners replaced the normal default XS Running Screen with what they feel is the more useful SAP HANA Developer Edition launch page.
