Error deploying to new 10.1.3.4 App Server - "Error instantiate servlet..."

Hello all,
Your help would be greatly appreciated finding the root cause of this error. I'm trying to deploy your run of the mill .war to a newly installed Oracle Application Server version 10.1.3.4. The deployment fails at the very end with the exception below. The app server is running on RHEL 4.7. I built the war first with JDEV 11g, and then built it from Netbeans to try and make sure JDEV 11g wasn't doing something funny to the war. Both times, after deploying I receive the error below. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I'm not using ADF or anything in particular like that. Thank you for any help you might be able to provide. -- Jason

"Not really. You can exclude the data-sources.xml from the EAR file and rely on the setup of the Global Datasource, created before deployment.
--olaf"
Thanks. Yes I did try this but when I setup the datasource via the datasources tab within the console I still received the error. This may have been due to an error on my part but I can't be sure as i've tried all sorts of different approaches over the last few days. I initially didn't have a datasource.xml so there wasn't one to exclude (via the deploy properties in Jdev) I had relied on Jdeveloper to setup the datasource via my connections. I read somewhere that Jdev does this fduring deploy and indeed it works fine for my embedded oc4j and when deplolying from Jdeveloper 10.1.2 so it would seem odd that the same approach doesn't work for Jdeveloper 10.1.3.
Surely the release notes regarding the password issue is the reason why I can't deploy from Jdev 10.1.3.4 to app server 10.1.2?
The release notes say that a patch is due to fix the issue with password indirection, Olaf do you know where I can get this?
Also how do I setup Jdev not to write the datasources during deployment? If I don't have a datasources.xml then there is nothiing to exclude. Is there a setting somewhere in Jdev 10.1.3.4?

  • Error: The listener returned the following Message: 500 Internal Server Error

    Hi,
    I'm currently having trouble building a JSP Portlet and registering it in Portal 902. I've followed all of the documentation and created the appropriate web.xml, provider.xml and _default.properties files as required.  When I deploy the page to my local OC4J server using http://localhost:port/myapplication/providers I receive the following message:
    Congratulations! You have successfully reached your Provider's Test Page.
    Checking for components:
    Portlets are: MyPortlet
    When I then try and deploy the portlet in our development portal environment using the Enterprise Manager interface, and then test using the same URL as above, I receive the same message as above.
    However, when I then try and register the provider through the Portal environment and try and "show" the portlet through a page within the portal, I receive the following error message:
    Error: The listener returned the following Message: 500 Internal Server Error
    I'm not sure why it would work with my local OC4J instance, and on the Portal server itself, but not as a portlet within a portal page in the main environment. I will add the application log, the provider.xml and the _default.properties files to extra postings after this first message.
    Any help would be much, much appreciated.
    Best Regards

  • Office web apps "Server error in '/wv' Application"

    Hi, I successfully installed office web app for sharepoint 2013. However, when I tried to open documents, it shows the preview but once view/edit in browser, I got this error. What seems to be the problem?
    Server error in '/wv' Application.
    Unable to determine zone from request

    Hi  ,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you encountered the error “Server error in '/wv' Application. Unable to determine zone from request” when you open document using Office Web Apps.
    Are you using  https:// to access the Office Web Apps server? Is the default zone of your web application in Alternate Access Mappings using http:// ?
    If so, you can change the default zone
    of your web application in Alternate Access Mappings to use https:// .
    Or  set AllowOAuthOverHttp to true:
    $config = (Get-SPSecurityTokenServiceConfig)
    $config.AllowOAuthOverHttp = $true
    $config.Update()

    Hi,
    Are you running any Anti-virus software or do you have your firewall turned on? If so, disable them and try again. If that doesn't work, delete the iCloud account and then sign it back on again.

  • New Apache sites return 500 Internal Server Error for all CFML requests

    This is an ugly one.  I think it is an Apache2 - ColdFusion 9 web server connector problem.
    I have two Solaris Unix web servers.  Each of these servers have a dozen and a half Apache web sites each one connected to one of five ColdFusion instances.
    All, but TWO of them are working properly.  We created two new Apache web sites and connected them to a new ColdFusion instance.  This worked fine on one of our boxes, the development one, but not on the other, production of course.
    Whenever we try to request a cfm url from one of these sites on the production server we get a 500 Internal Server Error.  HTML pages serve up just fine, and the new instance's Administrator runs fine on its 8305 port.  So both Apache and ColdFusion seem to be working independently, but they are not talking to each other.  All the other Apache sites connected to the other four ColdFusion instances also work properly.
    This has led me to investigate the web server connectors.  They have always been tricky and problematic to set up on these boxes.  The built in tools have never worked for us on these boxes and we have always had to manually compile the connectors and configure the connections in the web sites..
    But, as far as I can tell, all the connection setups are the same between working examples and these non-working sites.
    Any insights into what else I should be checking and|or how web server connectors actually work (they have alwasy been mysterious black boxes to me) would be greatly appreciated.
    TIA
    Ian

    Some more information.
    I took a closer look at the logs (I wasn't looking
    in the Apache logs before).  I found this block for the last attempt to

    hello, hoping some one could help as im stuck! quick run down of my setup, i beleive i have a home hub 4, i run a tablet, a laptop and a desktop pc on my wifi, i run my sky box of an ethernet cable, all these devices work fine.
    i got a new phone sunday, it was a sony experia m2. got it home and set it all up, found out it would not work connected to my wifi, it connects to it fine, i can use all my apps fine, when i go on browser i can get onto google, facebook, twiter and hotmail, may be more but these are all i have tried and got to work, if i try other sites i get a white screen that says 500 internal server error, internal error. i took it back to three and it connects fine to their wifi, i then took it round my mums and my wifes mums house and it also connects fine with there wifi. i spoke to three technical support and after 45 mins i was told to take it back to store and replace it, which i did and same fault. took it back again and was givern and differant phone, now a htc 610, guess what, same fault.
    i have called bt 3 times, first time the line was check, second time i was directed into a bt setup page after entering a load of numbers in the browser bar and i changed an interface number? the third time i was told the phone is fine and the broadband is fine, clearly there is a fault or setup error some were, i have had 3 brand new phones which neiher work
    can anyone shed any light on this? phone shop cant do anything else as its not a problem with the phone and im not getting anywere with bt

    opmnctl: opmn validation failed!
    we have Oracle App Server on Windows server 2003, new installation.
    plz help me with this problem.

    Not sure why you exeucute opmnctl validate, but
    C:\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_1\opmn\bin>opmnctl validate opmn.xml
    LPX-00202: could not open "opmn.xml" (error 200)opmn.xml isn't in $OH/opmn/bin directory. It's in $OH/opmn/conf.
    This is quite difficult to debug from this forum. Check the logs in $OH/opmn/logs and see if that helps. Also try to shut everything down (and check that all processes are gone) and then try to restart.

  • Deploying a web application on Sun One app server 7

    Hi,
    I am not able to deploy a web application on sun one server using Sun java studio.
    I have created Jsp, Servlet, Session bean and entity bean.
    When I am creating a web_module in the directory where JSP are kept, it is giving me error "directory is already mounted.
    I have already created EJB modules for both the Session and entity bean.
    Can some one tell me the cause / solution of this problem.

    Hi Amol,
    Thank you very much for replying my question. The contents in my application.xml are:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE application PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD J2EE Application 1.3//EN" "http://java.sun.com/dtd/application_1_3.dtd">
    <application>
    <display-name>testwsapp</display-name>
    <description>J2EE Application testwsapp</description>
    <module>
    <web>
    <web-uri>testws_War.war</web-uri>
    <context-root>testws</context-root>
    </web>
    <alt-dd>testws_War.xml</alt-dd>
    </module>
    </application>
    The contents in jaxrpc-ri-runtime.xml are:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <endpoints xmlns='http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/jax-rpc/ri/runtime' version='1.0'>
    <endpoint
    name='testws'
    interface='contactws.testwsGenServer.testwsRPC'
    implementation='contactws.testwsGenServer.testwsRPCBean'
    tie='contactws.testwsGenServer.testwsRPC_Tie'
    model='null'
    wsdl='/WEB-INF/testws.wsdl'
    service='{urn:testws/wsdl}Testws'
    port='{urn:testws/wsdl}testwsRPCPort'
    urlpattern='/testws'
    </endpoint></endpoints>
    I tried to access and check the web service using:
    http://servername:port/testws/testws
    The first testws is contextroot named and the second testws is url pattern, which was exactly like what you mentioned but I got "404 Not Found" error.
    By the way, using the same ear to deploy to Windows Sun ONE App. Server 7 env. and then using the same url, I can access the web service. I am wondering if there is any special for deploying Web Service on Unix Sun ONE app. Server 7 env. or I missed something?
    I hope I can hear from you soon.
    Thank you again,
    Jackie

  • How to deploy a war file from a different app server to the SAP one

    Hello,
    I hve recieved a war file from Tomcat that needs to be deployed on the SAP Java App server. As far as I know the SDM only allows to deploy ear files. How can I deploy this war to the app server?

    Hi Roy,
    in order to deploy the WAR file you have to wrap an EAR around it. I had the same problem.
    You can do this using Netweaver Developer studio.
    Perform the following steps:
    - Start NWDS
    - Create a New Enterprise Application Project
    - Create a New Web Module Project (name it like your war file => e.g. your war file is called myApp.war => call your Web Module myApp)
    - Edit the application.xml of your Enterprise App if necessary (description, Displayname etc.)
    - Link your Web Archive to your application archive (right Mouse click on Application Archive and from the Context Menu choose "Add Modules" => In the list choose your Web Module)
    => You can also perform a right mouse click on your web Module and from the context menu choose "Add to EAR Project" => In the list choose your Enterprise Application!
    - Build Web Archive (right mouse click on your Web Module and from the context menu choose "Build Web Archive" => This will create a war file that has the same name as your war file! => If you do not see it try to switch to resource perspective!)
    - Build Application archive (right mouse click on Application archive => from the context menu choose "Build Application Archive")
    You are done
    The EAR file is generated and will be created in your workspace.
    Now browse to your workspace. Unpack the EAR using WinZip or any other Archiver program.
    Replace the contained war with your war and repack the ear file (You can also use tools like Total Commander to directly replace the war file in the EAR with your war without having to unpack the war). You can also import your war into NWDS and rebuild it so you won't have to replace the WAR in the EAR but as your WAR is already built I would just replace it as described!
    You can now deploy the ear file to SAP J2EE
    Hope this helps (Reward points for helpful answers are appreciated!)
    Cheers

  • Deployed webservices is not compatible on sun app server 9

    I build my webservices in automated form provided by excelent wizards of jdev.
    I was not changed any name, and let all default descriptors generated to after I try to run it, and it run perfectly on oc4j, who is compatible with j2ee specification....
    But when I deploy it on Sun App Server 9(stable), the follow error is throwed
    "Invalid url pattern" like my screenshot: http://img115.imageshack.us/img115/4673/errojf1.gif
    I have tried to replace this url, but without sucess to run my web services. Someone with more experience can help me?
    I need to run it on SunAppServer.
    Thanks all

    You probably need to add the Sun specific deployment descriptor files to your WAR.
    JDeveloper doesn't have a utility to do that automatically for Sun.
