Error - 'Functionality temporarily unavailable' with sample

I created a portal as directed by the documentation 'Getting Started with Portals
and Portlets' - Section 5. I synchronized and can view the portal and portlet in
the Data Repository Browser however, when I try to go to the URL I get a page with
the BEA button and a message saying 'Functionality temporarily unavailable'. If I
go to the stockportal (which it is supposed to be using as a template) it works fine.
Thanks for any help
Ryan

Ryan,
I should have said - the log file's default location is in
config/portalDomain/logs and it is the weblogic.log file that generally
holds application exceptions.

Ryan,
This message generally indicates that an exception has been thrown. Please
check the logs and post the exception trace if you can find it.
Thanks,
Adrian.

    Think I have solved this problem myself with a bit of help from some other postings
    in the newsgroup.
    I think that there is a problem with the documentation. It states that /portlets/portlet3/welcome.jsp
    should be used as the Content URL field. Unfortunately portlet3, depends on the
    portlet3.wf web flow, which is not set up in the new portal. This can be seen
    by looking at 'Site Infrastructure>Webflows/Piplelines.
    To set this up (taken from a posting by Adrian Fletcher <[email protected]>):
    i) Look at the definition of portlet3 in the EBCC you will see that it requires
    access to a webflow called portlet3.wf. This file needs to be datasynced to your
    new application.
    ii) Locate the file portlet3.wf in the directory applications/portal-project/application-sync/webapps/stockportal.
    iii) Copy this file to the sibling directory applications/portal-project/application-sync/webapps/myportal.
    iv) Perform a data-sync.
    This fixed it for me.
    Regards Peter.

    Have followed through the steps and synced the application using the
    ebcc. When
    I try to access the new portal I get the message 'Functionality temporarily
    unavailable'
    in my web browser and the output from the console below. Anny suggestions?
    Thanks, Peter Vines.

    I am currently having the very same problem and have tried to use your solution, but I am confused. I have no sibling directory of applications/portal-project/application-sync/webapps/stockportal
    so I tried creating one and then doing a sync, no luck.
    Is the portal-project a directory that gets created? The instructions show cloning the directory of stockportal and renaming it myportal under the existing directory structure of bea\wlportal4.0\applications\portal\
    Any additional help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

    I have the same problem, but don't expect Apple to help! I rang their help line and explained the situation and that the same experience is reported all over their forum and they would not assist unless I paid for a one year help subsciption.
    This company has lost the plot! They create software that universally will not work then expect customers to pay to have it fixed. Technically I should walk straight into the nearest apple shop and ask for a refund, as the device is no longer fit for purpose!
    Congratulations Apple for the best ant-promotional App on the market and your astounding lack of service ethos.

    Peter,
    Ran into the same problem. Don't know what caused the problem but seemed
    to be related to data sync being incorrect. Run the
    sampleportal-project/synch.sh and the problem should go away.

  • Launcher Error: Setuid error: Resource temporarily unavailable

    Hi All,
        I'm running a job in tidal for couple of weeks now but suddenly I encountered an error "Launcher Error: Setuid error: Resource temporarily unavailable"
        What does this mean?  I'm using RHEL server release 6.3 Beta.
    Thanks,
    Melody

    You need to check your ulimits (ulimit -a) for the user launching the job and also the tidal agent user (tidal). The 'nofile' and 'nproc' for user cannot be higher than the tidal agent user (tidal). To fix it, you can alter the ulimit file (/etc/security/limits.conf) for 'tidal' (if that is the user your agent is running as) so that it is equal to or greater than the job user.

  • Open Environment error : Resource temporarily unavailable

    Hi,
    I use Berkeley DB 4.5.2 in a system with Intel PXA255, 64MB memory, 512MB USB disk. The system is Linux 2.4.18, compiler is arm-linux-gcc 2.95.3. I put database files on the USB disk (because the file size is more than 72MB), and the disk still got 70% free space (so I don't think the problem is caused by the disk space).
    The same program is run pretty well on PC, Intel P4 3.0, 512MB memory, Red hat Linux 4.2 Enterprise (Linux 2.6.9-22), compiler is gcc 4.3.3.
    But it could not even open the Environment on the board. One program shows error message:
    Environment open failed: Resource temporarily unavailable.
    The other program shows error message:
    unhandled page fault at pc=0x00019808, lr=0x000197f4 (bad address=0x000000dc, code 0)

    They are using the same code:
    #define __DEBUG 1
    ret = db_env_create(&VitalEnv, 0);
    if (0 != ret)
    #if __DEBUG
    fprintf(stderr, "Error in creating environment handle: %s.\n", db_strerror(ret));
    #endif
    return ret
    }/*endif*/
    env_flags = DB_CREATE | DB_INIT_MPOOL;
    ret = VitalEnv->open(VitalEnv, "./Data", env_flags, 0);
    if (0 != ret)
    #if __DEBUG
    fprintf(stderr, "Environmet open failed: %s.\n", db_strerror(ret));
    #endif
    return ret;
    }/*endif*/
    The only difference is that I put these codes in a function called OpenDB() for the second program, and just put these codes in main() for the first program.
    And both of them could not open environment.
    I have put the arm version libdb-4.5.so on the USB disk. Everything I did but the problem is still there.

    Hi Lesslielee,
    We will try to fix first the "Resource temporarily unavailable" issue. Is not very clear for me which/what/where application/databases you had moved and when.
    Do you have Berkeley DB's additional error reporting turned on? With the error reporting turned on, do you see any additional error information when this exception is thrown? ( http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/berkeley-db/db/ref/debug/runtime.html )
    From what I understand, when you are storing the databases on the disk (not on the USB drive), the tests are running well, right? When you are moving the database files on the USB drive, are you also moving the environment files? Storing environment files on an NFS file system is not supported.
    When Berkeley DB database environment shared memory regions are backed by the filesystem, it is a common application error to create database environments backed by remote filesystems such as the Network File System (NFS), Windows network shares (SMB/CIFS) or the Andrew File System (AFS). Remote filesystems rarely support mapping files into process memory, and even more rarely support correct semantics for mutexes if the mapping succeeds. For this reason, we recommend database environment directories be created in a local filesystem.
    Does the problem occur when you run the application for the first time in the new configuration? How did you moved the databases? How did you closed the environment last time?
    For more information, please see the "Remote filesystems" section of the Berkeley DB Reference Guide, available in your download package or on our web site at: http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/berkeley-db/db/ref/env/remote.html
    Thanks,
    Bogdan Coman

  • Is anyone else getting the error "Service Temporarily Unavailable?"

    I am trying to manage our schools iTunesU site and have been unable to login since Wednesday, September 4, 2013.  Is anyone else running into this with their sitemanager?  Our course manager logins work and students can access the content, we just cannot manage the domain.

    Hi macschur,
    I am experiencing the same issue when trying to login to the iTunes U Site Manager. I get the error message "Service temporarily unavailable." Other administrators are have the same problem trying to access our site form different network locations.
    I have reported the issue to iTunes U Support and received a response per e-mail with 12 hours. They provided me with some simple troubleshooting advice like resetting Safari and emptying the caches but that did not resolve the issue. After my second mail to Apple I was tol that the isse had been escalated to a Specialist Team. I am  waiting for a response.

  • Error in Service designer with sample adapter

    Hi all,
    I try to use SampleAdapter. When I create a master service based on Sample Adapter (wich is correctly in the classptah on the server). I received the following message : The Master Service does not have an adapter definition.
    I ignore it and I create an alias for this Master service. I test it in request manager and the service created with the sample adapter work ??
    What can I do to supress error message in Service Designer ?
    Thanks

    Vasanthakumar,
    in my previous experiences with internal/external parties communication, I've found out that the best practice is to create an integration scenario and then create the configuration scenario from scenario wizard. It is much simpler and easier.
    Briefly, you'll have to create a dummy party/service in order to "wrap" your internal system, since the external party should not receive information regarding internal systems (Business system name, for example).
    Regards,
    Henrique.

  • Unable to start Web Analysis .Service Temporarily Unavailable

    Hi,
    I am using the following URL to access Web Analysis http://testdb.xxx.xxx.xx:19000/WebAnalysis/WebAnalysis.jsp. But it throws up the following error -
    "*Service Temporarily Unavailable, the server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.*"
    FYI
    1. I'm using EPM 11.1.1.3 on Linux Server (Tikanga)
    2. Planning, Shared Services, Workspace, Essbase etc. are working fine. The problem is only with Web Analysis. However, even Web Analysis was working fine in the not-so-distant past.
    I have tried stopping and starting the Web Analysis service but that doesn't seem to help.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks & Cheers,
    Sahil

    Just to add to my first post, i am facing the following issues:

    4. And finally, when I try to open Web Analysis reports from Workspace -> Explore, I get the below error
    Required application module analyzer.reportview is not configured. Please contact your administrator.
    Web Analysis was working just fine until recently. Now the problem is only with WA. Everything else is working as it should If nothing gets Web Analysis up and running again, is there a way I can retrieve my saved report files? I can view these files from Workspace -> Explore -> Reports folder.

  • Nokia C7 - "Service Temporarily Unavailable. Try a...

    I bought Nokia C7 today. Working fine but for one issue. I've tried setting up email for the past 2 weeks. It keep giving the same error "Service Temporarily Unavailable. Try again later."
    I don't have any trouble connecting to the internet - both on wifi as well as on my service provider's EDGE network. I am not able to configure none of the emails (gmail, yahoo mail etc). Does anyone know what the problem is?
    Thanks,
    Phani

    FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS TO CIRCUMVENT THE 'CANNOT CONNECT TO SERVICE - PLEASE TRY AGAIN LATER.' MESSAGE
    DO THIS -
    WHILE TRYING TO SET UP THE EMAIL ACCOUNT - DECLINE THE NOKIA TERMS OF SERVICE (YES! DECLINE THEM!)
    You will see that it then uses normal internet settings to connect to the internet and DOES NOT USE OVI OR NOKIA settings. See explanation below -
    The Symbian^3 devices (e.g. Nokia N8-00, C6-01, C7-00) support the following email service types:
    Mail for Exchange (for corporate email).
    Internet based email services via the Nokia Messaging service (Nokia-hosted service for accessing consumer email, e.g. Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, Windows Live Hotmail, Ovi Mail).
    Direct POP/IMAP access.
    All the mailboxes can be set up and accessed in one location in Menu > Applications > E-mail or via the email widget on the home screen..
    Start the email setup either from the setup wizard on the home screen or by selecting Menu > Applications > E-mail > New. Select the desired email service from the provided list and enter the requested information. If your email service is not found in the list, select Other.
    When setting up consumer email, the email access will be established via the Nokia Messaging service if it is available in your country and operator network. If the service is not available, a direct POP/IMAP access to your email server will be used. The direct POP/IMAP access is used also if you decline the terms of Nokia Messaging service during the setup process.
    The email access type can be seen in the email settings by selecting Menu > Applications > Mail > Settings > (mailbox name). If the menu shows a list with Mailbox settings, Sync content and Sync frequency, a direct POP/IMAP access is in use. The incoming and outgoing mail server settings can in this case be found in Mailbox settings > Advanced mailbox sett.
    With the direct POP/IMAP access the Nokia Messaging service is not used. Mail for Exchange access is also established directly to Exchange mail server and is not going via the Nokia Messaging service.
