Error icon shown after restarting

I have upgraded my Mac Mini from Mavericks to Yosemite, the installation ran fine and the system started up into Yosemite without issues. However after restarting my machine, a white screen with an Apple logo appears with a progress bar below it, the progress bar will go up to about 35% and then show an error icon.
How can I fix this? Unfortunately I did not make a backup of the OS nor do I use Time Machine.
What are my options? Is there a way I can read through the logs to see what is failing to possibly try and fix it?

Try actually opening message and clicking reply icon to respond rather than right clicking on message preview.  I have had same bug (which Apple should fix all the same), but have found that if you open the message as its own discreet window, then the "replied to" icon will appear.  Hope this is helpful

    Hi, silly, but annoying problem. Recently, my HD icon moves after I restart my machine. Only icon to do this. I usually keep it in the upper right hand corner, but now it seems happier in the lower right hand corner - below a folder I have there. This is really annoying. I keep moving it back, and the stubborn fella returns below. I tried in preferences to uncheck it and then recheck it, but no go. Any thoughts? It's driving me crazy. Even more, why did it just decide to change zip codes?

    You might try Onyx or Yasu (utilities that are donation ware/freeware) and delete the ds.store files which are supposed to keep track of this. You could also delete your user finder plist(com.apple.finder.plist). If the files are corrupted then they can mess things up.
    Also, as Ali says, putting them too close to the side of the screen is like telling the icon " Your master has screwed up and you are free to go where ever you want now.". Put it close to the upper right corner where you want then let the Finder accurately place it by selecting View and then Cleanup.
    Occasionally, my icons like to wander. I just get used to it (or have been beaten down by it) and no longer ask why.

  • Application folder defaults back to icon view after restart

    When I view the application folder after a restart or start up the view is the icon view. In the finder I change it to list view, and restart the system and the view will revert back to the icon view every time. I have tried repairing file permissions then changing views, and I have deleted the .DS_store file in the applications folder and changed the view. Meanwhile after a system restart the app. folder view always reverts to the icon view. This seems to be the only folder that acts this way. I would like the default view of the app folder to always be the list view. How can I accomplish this? Thanks for your help.

    This happens because you do not have permission to modify the invisible file that stores the folder settings, and when you delete it, a new one is created that inherits the folder permissions.
    Open Terminal and paste this command:
    sudo chmod 666 /Applications/.DS_Store;sudo chown $USER /Applications/.DS_Store
    With that done, now set the window view and it should be persistent.

    Log in as root. Change the icon. Log out and log back into your "normal" account.

  • Shared Services JDBC error ORA-01722 after restart

    Help me please...
    I have this configuration:
    - Red Hat EL5.0
    - Oracle DB 10.2.0.1
    - WebLogic 9.2 MP3
    - Hyperion 9.3.1
    Hyperion Shared Services install and configured - properly (without any exceptions and errors). Than I setup and config Essbase and Administration Services, externalize users and all this worked properly. I have projects and users in Shared Services and I can do anything with Essbase applications and cubes.
    When restart Shared Services and other services I have error when Shared Services started:
    org.apache.slide.store.impl.rdbms.StandardRDBMSAdapter - ERROR - SQL error 1722 on /1238771509551.56: [Hyperion][Oracle JDBC Driver][Oracle]ORA-01722: invalid number
    and after that Shared Services - worked but I didn't find any users and projects in Shared Services.

  • No reply arrow/icon shown after replying to messages in Mail.

    I've seen a number of discussions on this topic but I still have not found a solution.
    When I respond to a message in one of my Google Apps (IMAP) accounts, sometimes it will show the reply arrow/icon next to the original message but most times it will not. The other weird part is that it only happens in one specific mailbox. Other than my iCloud mailbox, I have three Google Apps IMAP accounts, but this specific mailbox is the only one that has these inconsistencies. The only time i can get the arrow/icon to show is when i'm replying to one of my other two Google Apps accounts. The message always goes through, it's just that it doesn't show the reply arrow/icon and it's very frustrating to have to go to the sent mailbox everytime just to see if i have responded to a message.
    I'm running Mac OSX 10.7.2. and Mail version 5.1
    I've already tried the following to no avail:
    Rebuild the maillbox
    ReIndex the entire mail.app
    Deleted the cache folder in /Library/Caches/Mail
    Deleting the mailbox and readding it
    Repaired disk permissions and restarted computer

  • ClassNotFoundException after restarting the Portal

    I have created Property Renderer which works without errors.
    But after restart Portal the error was found: ClassNotFountException
    We still can see that the package is present in the list (System Administraton->Support->Portal Runtime->Administration Console->Archive Deployment Checker) and its refreshing will solve the problem.
    This problem can be solved by deploying after each restart of the Portal.
    How to customize portal settings (or project settings in NWDS) to allow to do this procedure automatically by Portal?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Try below steps once
    click Gear icon on the top Right corner and Quit Creative Cloud App
    Click on Finder and then hold Command + Shift + G keys on your keypad
    It will open Go to folder window, type  exactly ~/Library and click on Go
    Make sure to open ~/Library not /Library (  there will be two Library folders )
    Then open Application Support > Adobe folders
    Trash AAMUpdater and OOBE folders.
    Then launch Creative Could and check.

    Epson support struggled to find reason and several solutions were tried and they assume this is an Adobe problem.

    Attempting unsuccessfully to print to Epson 3880
