Error in 12.1 Oracle Database Concepts guide
Dear Oracle team,
I found the following issues when go through Database Concepts guide in Chapter - 2 [ Tables and Table Clusters ].
1. In the example section of Invisible columns topic, table name is provided incorrectly.
CREATE TABLE products ( prod_id INT, count INT INVISIBLE );
ALTER TABLE names products MODIFY ( count VISIBLE );
2. Employee id is given incorrectly in the Example 2-3 in Example of Create Table and Alter table Statements.
Employee id 104 does not exists in the Rows list displayed in Example 2-3.
Please correct me If I am wrong.
Thanks,
Shalini.
No. Privilege is granted locally (in root container). Documentation is OK.
There is no term "globally". There is "commonly" (in all containers) or "locally" (in current container).

Perhaps you got the wrong db name? Or schema name?
Everything looks good so most probably there simply is some little typo somewhere.
Hope this helps

ORA-12154 Connection error from HFM to Oracle Database
Hi,
I am trying to configure Hyperion HFM but can write to HFM database.
The implementation architecture:
Hyperion 11.1.2.2 (with all the requiered patches for HFM, FDM, Shared Services, Workspace and Oracle Application Development)
Server 1:
Windows Server 2008 x64
Installed products: Foundation (EPMA, CalcManager), BI, HFM web components and ADM driver
Configured products: Foundation(EPMA, CalcManager), BI.
Database Client: 11gR2 x64
Server 2:
Windows Server 2008 x64
Installed products: HFM, FDQM
Configured Products: FDQM, HFM
Database Client: 11gR2 x32, 11gR2 x64 (x32 version installed first)
Server 3:
Database: Oracle 11.2.0.2
All the products from server 1 are working fine, FDQM (server 2) is also working fine, but, when I try to do any action related with HFM database the system fails.
I have tested the connection is these scenarios:
1. SQLdeveloper: successfull!, I can create tables, views, etc. Double checking the user privileges it has all the required.
2. tnsping: successfull!
3. HFMApplicationCopy utility: Successfull using UDL file and writing the connection parameters.
4. EPM System Configurator: the configurator successfully validates the database connection information, but does not create the tables on the database. No errors in the configtool log.
5. EPM Diagnostic Tool: fails with this error message:

Please help me with some insights on this problem, I have tried everything but nothing works.

Edited by: Otein on 19-oct-2012 14:04Hi,
I Have solved one of my problems, the one that keep HFM from connecting to the Oracle database.
I just change the TNSNAMES.ORA, like this:
Initial tnsnames.ora
PRUEBA.WORLD=
+(DESCRIPTION_LIST =+
+(DESCRIPTION =+
+(LOAD_BALANACE = ON)+
+(FAILOVER = ON)+
+(ADDRESS_LIST =+
+(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = <server_name>)(PORT = <port>))+
+)+
+(CONNECT_DATA =+
+(SERVICE_NAME = <service_name>)+
+)+
+)+
+)+
Modified tnsnames.ora
PRUEBA.WORLD=
+(DESCRIPTION =+
+(LOAD_BALANACE = ON)+
+(FAILOVER = ON)+
+(ADDRESS_LIST =+
+(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = <server_name>)(PORT = <port>))+
+)+
+(CONNECT_DATA =+
+(SERVICE_NAME = <service_name>)+
+)+
+)+
I Just delete the line "+(DESCRIPTION_LIST =+" and its corresponding closing parenthesis, I did this cause in the configuration utility log I saw this line:
+TNS parsing: Entry: DESCRIPTION_LIST [[Address: Protocol:(TCP) Host:(<server_name>) Port:(1521) SID:(<service_name>)]]+
So, if the applications were trying to connect to connection descriptor DESCRIPTION_LIST, the driver could not recognize DESCRIPTION_LIST as a valid one.
There is a lot going on behind the scenes when you work with Oracle Database as the repository, maybe there is some other way to address this issue, but it worked for me, hope it can help you too. -
Error calling BLS from oracle database
Hi Experts,
We have a scenario in which we are calling BLS from oracle database using trigger. The call is made using the following URL:
http://<Host name>:50000/XMII/Runner?Transaction=<TRX_Path>&Material=MATNR&Pallet_id=PALLET&Plant=PLANT&Proc_order=PROC&Prodline=PROD&Quantity=QTY&Start_Date=DAT&Start_Time=TIM&Status=STAT&UOM=UOM1&User_name=USER&OutputParameter=*
This used to work fine in 11.5 but when we upgraded to 14.0 it is not working. We have maintained server details in \etc\host file.
We were getting error in file 'Error 1 Text.txt'. "A possible Cross-Frame Scripting attack has been prevented. Please contact your system administrator or refer to" this was the last error message. We checked this on SCN and based on the search results we have implemented SAP note 1651004 wherein setting in netweaver is required to be changed. After note was implemented we are getting another error text ('Error 2 Text.txt') "This will happen if the browser running the page tha". We tried a few ways but could not capture the full message coming.
Has anybody of faced similar problem? I would highly appreciate any hint which could help in solving this problem.

Golden Gate Error while replicating 2 oracle databases, reason RAC
Dear All,
My RAC database and the standby database is 11gR2 on Linux.

Error while creating a Oracle Database
Hi,
I was recently gifted with a Dell Vostro, Windows 7pro, Core i5 processor. I was trying to install Oracle in the machine and have been receiving the errors as:
The procedure entry point GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be located in the dynamic link library PSAPI.DLL
The value of the environment variable PERL5LIB is more than 1023 chars. THis value cannot be set.I ignored the above errors and continued the process of installation which got installed successfully. Then tried installing the patch which was also successful.
When I started creating the DB it throws me an error as: Cannot create directory "C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\cfgtoollogs\dbca\<DBNAME> and there's no Database created. I've admin rights on the machine and have checked the compatibility as well.
I've tried installing Oracle and creating DB in other Windows 7 pro machines with Core i2 duo it has been successful.
Kindly need help on urgent basis.811638 wrote:
Hey thanks a lot for ur prompt reply.
But I tried installing the Oracle10g in another Windows7 pro machine(HP) and it worked successfully..
Urgent coz, if me not able to install Oracle10g here then I would exchange this DELL to Toshiba(Core2 Duo) tomo..
Edited by: 811638 on Nov 15, 2010 1:38 PMJust because it installs does not necessarily mean that it will work as advertised. As stated above, base 10gR2 is not certified on Win 7 - if you insist on using 10gR2 on Win 7, you are on your own.

Error While Restoring the Oracle Database using Cloud Backup
Hello,
I have been facing a serious error while oracle restoration. I have Backed up Complete Database. For Testing restoration, the DBA removed all the DBF, logs and Control File from there orignal Position.
He restarted the Database in "Startup nomount" mode. No i am not able to connect to target database from my Backup Server remotely.
Whenever i try to restore, it shows following error:-
***RMAN-04005: error from target database:***
***ORA-12528: TNS:listener: all appropriate instances are blocking new connections***
***ORA-12528: TNS:listener: all appropriate instances are blocking new connections***
***"ORA-12528: TNS:listener: all appropriate instances are blocking new connections***
I am using Oracle 11g R2 x64-bit database and on Windows Platform with Windows Server 2008 R2.
Can Anyone help me by connecting, rman to the remote target database when it is in nomount mode.
I am not able to connect the sqlplus remotely.\
Thanks in Advance...
Regards
Pravesh UpadhyayDevika,
You have to stop all your adapters, your repository, close all IStudio client and stop all sessions connected to this schema before running the oaiimport.
If you don't do this the oaiimport will not work properly as the script will not be able to drop the user and will try to re-create existing objects.
Tip : use the following select to list the session using oaihub902 user (and get rid off them)
select username, count(*)
from V$session
where username in ('OAIHUB902')
group by username
order by count(*) desc, username

To my surprise, the file /u01/CADDB/data/cwmlite01.dbf is a data file of the tablespace CWMLITE from another Oracle DB instance named "CADDB". Who can tell me why that? What is the purpose of the tablespace CWMLITE in a DB?Hm, what does this have to do with "Community Feedback and Suggestions"?

Oracle Database Migration Guide (MOS) and csscan info
Hi
I have to expdp select set of schemas from one database (10.2.0.5) to another (new database on new server - 10.2.0.5, both RHEL 5.8). I am basically moving a database fro move server to another and I have been told to do it this way. This is not a database migration from one release to another - but it is migration from one server to another within same release and version (same patch level).
I believe there is more to it than just expdp and impdp. I have been trying to find some kind of checklist or guide on Oracle Support site which may guide me in right direction but could not find on this specific task (there are many on DB Upgrades and Migrations to new releases). I also heard of a tool called "csscan". I had a very beirf chat with an expert and he asked me to look for MOS on this task and also make use of csscan.
Can anyone please help me find such document or guide?
Best regardscsscan is for checking to see if a character set change will affect data. Do the two databases have different character sets? Is the client different than the db?
You can go to tahiti.oracle.com and select your version, then search for the term.
You have to understand what grants and synonyms and procedural objects your app uses. Details depend. -

can anyone suggest any solution.seems as if your client machines are missing the oracle driver. This is one of the disadvantages of a single tier environment you have to make sure that the oracle driver is available to the machines where the applet is run.
If you have the possibility to define/change the configuration or setup of these machines, e.g. in an intranet environment) deploy the driver in the ext directory of the virtual machines used. If not you can make it a part of your applet jar file, so it is downloaded with the applet code and therefore available to the virtual machines. -
