Error in advanced installation of obiee on linux
Hi All
while i am installing obiee 10.1.3.2.0 on linux am getting the following error.
"PopChart installation failed. Please re-run it under /uo2/oraobias/product/OracleBI/Corda after this installation.
After specifying the directories and selecting "advanced" installation this error is occuring.
But the installation continued.
Please suggest me if you have any idea.

Hi Sujitha,
I dont know what is the error all about,but it will continue installation and completes it successfully.If you want to use charts that deals with corda that would give you problem.

I have tried to set the DISPLAY variable to my IP address, but it still gives the same issue.

To install 10.2.0.1 and then 10.2.0.2 (or higher) on Linux Itanium, do the following :
[1]. Download Patch 5390722 and run the supplied OUI to install Montecito JDK and JRE into the new 10.2 home
* Unzip the patch
* Start OUI from Patch 5390722 and install JDK into the new 10.2 home
* Start OUI from Patch 5390722 and install JRE into the new 10.2 home
[2]. Install 10.2.0.1 into the new 10.2 home by running OUI from the 10.2.0.1 DVD :
./runInstaller -jreLoc $ORACLE_HOME/jre/1.4.2

i have an issue with OBIEE 11g when installing it on windows seven .It stops in the creation of the instance as .
when i read the log file i saw this : java.outofmemoryerror permgen space
my question is how can i increase the permgen space ?

Please double check your looback adaptor configuration
The issue has been identified as that for some reason there is a hardcoded machine name mistakenly placed in the Solaris version of OBIEE, which is being sent out to be resolved by DNS. This machine name is an internal oracle machine, and so DNS can not find it.
This has been reported as the following bugs:

Solution:
As a workaround, Add the following entry to the end of your hosts file with a dummy IP address (e.g. 127.0.0.1) and then reboot:
127.0.0.1 stafas12.us.oracle.com stafas12
This should prevent timeout while checking DNS to resolve that non-existing address.

Installing OBIEE 101341 using Advanced installation option
Hi All,
I am trying to install OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1 using the Advanced installation type. The option says it requires "Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.1.0 or greater". I installed Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.3 and tried installing OBIEE. It asked me for the installation directory and when I pointed it to right directory of installation it comes out and says this "Please specify a valid Oracle Application Server 10g installation location. A valid Oracle Application Server 10g installation must have Oracle Container for J2EE (OC4J), Oracle HTTP Server, and Oracle Process Manager and Notification Server (OPMN) installed. The default OC4J instance must be named home. "
1. Did anyone else come across this error?
2. I see all the components mentioned in the error message installed on my computer using Oracle Universal Installer. What is the deal with "The default OC4J instance must be named home." Can anyone make sense out of this?

Installation Directory of OBIEE in linux

I am trying to install OBIEE on Linux server, by default the installtion directory will be
/usr/local/OracleBI
/usr/local/OracleBIData
Is that mandatory to install OBIEE under these directories or can i Install in any other directories like any mount point (/mnt/OracleBI)or under home directory (/home/Vinay/OracleBI) ?????

I'm trying to upgrade from 3.0.2 to 3.0.3 and get 'An error occurred during installation.' The error actually occurs during the Moving Items Into Place phase of the upgrade. iWeb is in the Applications folder and is not in a sub-folder.
