Error in dns client setup

Hi everyone,
after setting the /etc/resolv.conf file, i tried to nslookup command
and the following error came:
can'f find server name for address 203.88.240.88 (this address is given by isp): no response from server
ok what should i do next?

I have reviewed a number of other posts regarding this BPA error but have not found a specific solution.
Receiving the BPA Error: The DNS Client is not configured to point to the internal IP Address of the Server
If the DNS is currently functional, is this required? As a general practice, if it is working, don't change it....
If required, can someone list the steps to change this?

The reason the Server should be the DNS server is to maintain _internal_ DNS so each station can find the server and each other. The Internet will work if the setting on the station can find a DNS server that can find the upstream DNS servers.
The way this is meant to work is the stations and the server query the DNS server on the Essentials server. If it knows the name to IP translation, as it should for LAN queries it will provide the results. If it does not, as it most likely would
not in the case of a new internet search, is uses forwarders or root hints (look up those terms if you don't recognize them) to find the name to IP translation and send it back to the station.
If you use DNS servers outside the LAN the usual results are slow startup times and slow network browsing.

\\SERVER\Clients\Setup\setup.exe with Windows Vista Error

I added the first Vista client to an SBS 2003, SP1 domain. Until now, all clients were WinXP, SP2. Office 2003 is installed on the XP clients, and the Vista client, which may not be pertinent to this problem.
As is normal, "\\SERVER\Clients\Setup\setup.exe /s SERVER" is executed when a user logs on to any domain client. On the Vista client, I always get the dialog -- regardless of the account privilege -- asking for permission to run Setup.exe. It is annoying. Occasionally, the Program Compatiblity Assistant will appear and advise there's a known compatiblity issue with Setup.exe. It points to KB article 926505 for resolution. The title of the KB is, "Windows Small Business Server 2003: Windows Vista and Outlook 2007 compatibility update."
When I run the SBS2003SP1-KB926505-X86-ENU.EXE fix, I get the error: "This update cannot be installed. Either it is already installed as part of an existing service pack, or it requires a more recent service pack. For more information, see the systems requirements on the download page."
I installed Windows Server 2003 SP2 and run the KB926505 fix, but I get the same error "This update cannot be installed. Either it is already installed as part of an existing service pack" After a reboot of te SBS server the same problem on the Vista client, I always get the dialog -- regardless of the account privilege -- asking for permission to run Setup.exe. It is annoying. Occasionally, the Program Compatiblity Assistant will appear and advise there's a known compatiblity issue with Setup.exe. It points to KB article 926505 for resolution.
The problem is Windows Vista Business, because all windows XP clients have no problem at all.

You do not say whether if you accept the permission dialog whether the setup continues or not, but the short answer to the question revolves around UAC.
Remember that EVERY user (except the actual Administrator account) has only Standard user rights regardless of group. When a task that requires Admin rights is executed, one of three things will happen: 1) If you are THE Administrator, then your task will continue. 2) If you have Admin rights, you will be prompted that a process is trying to use elevated rights and ask for permission, or 3) If you are a Standard user, you will either be denied flatly or prompted to supply credentials. Which of these happen depend on GPO settings, but the default is to prompt.
In any event, I believe that this is what you are running into, and is one of the big feature improvements in Vista. Yes, it can be a bit annoying (Try deleting an "All Users" icon from the Start Menu!) but is there to place one more barrier between virus and malware writers and your OS.
If it's TOO annoying to bear, you can turn off UAC by going into your profile and disabling it. (It requires Admin rights, of course. ) It is not recommended as you do a very effective job or nutering the Vista Security Model by doing so.
If it, of course, your choice. we IT Admins have a lot more issues with this than the standard user, but for me, I gladly take the tradeoff because I worry a lot less about those few I HAVE to give Admin rights to.

In a first time I have upgrade SAP from 2007 to 8.81 on th server and all is ok.
After I have installed Sap 8.81 on a customer client, and I have an error.
I have upgarde/installed 15 client and all is ok, only on this I retrieve the error
After installation, when I have to choose company DB, I retrieve an error: 'Errore durante la definizione dei
parametri di sicurezza;l'algoritmo di crittografia non è supportato' (only in Italian, i'm sorry but I can't change
the Sap language).
Anybody can help me?

Remove SAP Client Setup from Local Machine and the re install it once again.
Do not forget to load all the pre requisites required for a client setup installation........

Qmaster error: shared storage client timed out while subscribing to...

Here's my Qmaster setup:
computer 1: CONTROLLER, no nodes
- 8TB RAID hooked up via Fiber
- connected to the GigE network switch via a 6-port bond
- cluster storage set to a path on the RAID
computers 2, 3, 4, 5: RENDER NODES
- each computer has a 2-port bonded connection with the GigE switch
computer 6: Client, with FCS2 installed.
- connected with a single GigE link
I have set up this cluster primarily for command-line renders, and it works great. I submit command-line renders from the client computer, which get distributed and executed on each node. The command line renders specify a source file on the RAID, and a destination path on the RAID. Everything works great.
I run into trouble when trying to use Compressor with this same setup. The files are on the RAID, and all my computers have an NFS automount that puts it in the /Volumes folder on each computer.
I set up my Compressor job and submit it to the cluster. It submits sucessfully, and distributes the work. After a few seconds, each node gives me a timeout error:
"Shared storage client timed out while subscribing to [computer1.local/path to cluster storage]"
Is this a bandwidth issue? Command line renders work fine, I can render 16 simultaneous Quicktimes to the RAID over NFS. I don't see much network activity on any of the computers when it's trying to start the Compressor render, it's as if it's not even trying to connect.
If I submit the SAME compressor job to a cluster with nodes ONLY on the controller computer, it renders fine. Clearly the networked nodes are having trouble connecting to the share for some reason.
Does anybody have any ideas? I have tried almost everything to get this to work. Hooking up each node locally to the RAID is NOT an option unfortunately.

If i have Dns Client service running, is it necessary to enable dns prefetch in the about:config section?

I've been wondering this for a while and can't seem to find the answer.
Whenever i set network.dns.disablePrefetch to true, the browser seems to load a bit more smoothly and even with the pref. disabled, the dns client service seems to still cache dns whenever i check on cmd using the ipconfig /displaydns command.
Does this mean that the browser still fetches dns even with the pref disabled?

I'm not really sure if it speeds up the loading process or not since it's a bit hard to tell but like i said, the loading is smoother.
Is Dns Client service different from Dns prefetch?

DNS client in a non-global zone

Is this ok or is this a global wide issue?

Yes. The /etc file system is private to each zone (both in the sparse and whole root models) so each zone can have it's own DNS settings (as well as private things like a different time zone and such).

Datapump - in a client setup.

for example,
exp scott/tiger@live file=d:/exp.dmp
how can i do this using datapump ? without specifying the directory parameter.

We are trying to send the request from SONICMQ JMS to R/3 and trying to post the response to Sonic Queue. but we are facing some problems for JMS adapter .
but in JMS sender and receiver adapter i gave different IP and port for listen the SONIC queue. why it is showing in different IP here? this message got from logviewer.

What is the error displayed on the Adapter Monitoring pages?
Generally the correct error descriptions for connectivity issues are found on adapter monitoring UI than any other.
Other possible reasons could be :

The following hosts could not be reached 143:223:221:10:50310</i> This might be issue with your network settings i.e. XI server is unable to reach the specified IP on specified port.

Domain Controllers that are DNS servers DNS Client settings

So I have been pinged by a few folks recently on configuration of client DNS settings on Domain Controllers that are also functioning as DNS Servers. Lots of debate. I understand there has been long time debate within MSFT as well.

Why shouldn't loopback not be first, the justification is why you shouldn't only use loopback, not why it shouldn't be first.

This also seems like justification against only using loopback versus using it first.
Are there any actual real documented issues for using loopback first and a remote DNS server second and perhaps third? If the local DNS server service isn't working yet (or at all), I would expect the DNS Client process
to try to connect to it, fail, and then failover to the secondary just like I would expect it to failover if the remote DNS server was secondary and it was unavailable and it failed back to the loopback. Am I making a bad assumption?
And by documented I don't mean random responses to questions on the internet or other such items. I mean a KB article or technet article or properly researched and tested other web article from a reliable resource.

As I understand it, the scenario whereby a DC could become an 'island' if it points only to itself, or to itself first, was repaired in the Windows Server 2003 product cycle. See

However, there is still a known problem of slow boot times that can occur. See
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2001093 for information about this. The scenario that is discussed assumes there is a power failure and servers shut down due to overheating while on backup power. When
multiple servers come online simultaneously after power is restored, there can be a significant delay.
The recommended configuration is one that avoids a single point of failure, but also tries to optimize the speed of resource record registration, so that Active Directory can properly synchronize.

The thing is that I transferred the databases from a Prod.Env. to the Test Env. and from that moment on the Test Env. stopped working (only workflows), then I
was thinking that maybe the workflow is not working in the Test Environment because when I transferred the databases from Prod Env to Test Env I didn’t transfer the databases related to workflow, I only transferred:
WSS_Content
PWA_ServiceDB
But I didn’t transfer:
SBGatewayDatabase
SBManagementDB
SBMessageContainer01
WFInstanceManagementDB
WFManagementDB
WFResourceManagementDB
I didn’t transfer them because, before, when I transferred DB’s in version 2010, these DB’s were not needed, as the workflows were done using another method.
So, I tried to create a new workflow in the Test Env. but there is no way, I always get that error.
I've tried to Register again the workflow, and the result looks ok, but it doesn't solve the problem:
Register-SPWorkflowService
–SPSite "http://whatever/PWA"
–WorkflowHostUri "http://TestServer:12291"
–AllowOAuthHttp -Force
Do you know how to solve this issue or have an idea to give me some light?

Looks like you haven't defined the WF scope or the site where you are trying to deploy the workflow to isn't included in the scope

When opening a BPF hyperlink, I am getting a pop up with error Error Launching Office Client: Object does not support property or method 'PushActionsbyValue'.
I have seen threads about this but no definite answer.

Please check the if Microsoft office installed is 64 bit and epm addin is 64 bit then the IE should be 64 bit.
we faced the same issue long ago user is using IE 32 bit while office and epm addin are 64 bits.
