Error in External programe

Dear All,
We are facing error in one of external programe; which is included in one of step of a job. the programe is 'sleep' which is resposible for inserting delay in job e.g. 300 sec. the value 300 is the parameter for the external programe.
when we run the job this program doesnt stop. keep on giving delay in job. or else in other job it doesnt run .... can any budy suggest hte troubleshooting of the same.

Hello Swapnil,
The most probable reason that I get from the description is that the counter is never passed back to the job control.
What you can do as an alternative is write an simple ABAP to loop for 300 secs and then write an message Like "Completed or finished" and enter this ABAP program as an step instead of the External program.
This should work 100 %.

Exitcode 2, if returned from the OS, means "No such file or directory". Note that as of SAP kernel release 7, you usually do not have DB6CLP any more. Can you check if the executable is available in the SAP exe directory ?
If running SAÜ kernel 700 or higher, I suggest to apply a recent SP level.

Question,
I am trying to run a form essentially from the command line. I need to programatically catch any error codes that might have occured in the form by an external program. I can find nothing about returning errors back from the form or how to display it.
Any assistance is appreciated.

Hello Andreas,
Ah, sorry, there was so much talk about user decisions that I assumed you were using a standard decision task.
Still, I would be extra careful of changing the way workflow usually works because you have an unknown target audience that are based on the standard.
The standard SAP philosophy is quite simple: cancel/F3 or do nothing and it stays reserved. If you do not want it reserved, you need to perform an action. This is based on a majority of processes: in most cases when you execute a work item you will also be the one who is going to completed it. Replacing it is the lesser used of the two alternatives, therefore it is the only one that requires an action on the part of the user.
Again, this is intended as constructive input. Strange quirks and unusual behaviour tend to add a black mark to software if they do not make things easier to use. In many environments users are not even aware of the reserve/replace business, so there you would be adding an additional layer of complexity.
Personally I would find an exit popup annoying as a regular workflow user - regular decisions can be approved with one click, or I can back out with a single click if I need to make a phone call or look up some info before approving - but with this new-fangled thing I've got an extra button to click and an extra thing to think about. This is especially the case in a payment approval scenario where you may have users in some departments who may approve hundreds of payments each week.
My suggestion would be to leave it like that. By all means put an option into the user decision to put it back or to 'un-reserve' it (and loop round if the user chooses it). That way you are adding value and not clicks.

Error with triggering a external program

I used the following codes to trigger an external program, it worked fine for microsoft word but netmeeting seems to have a problem. I used a button to trigger it.

SM69-Can't exec external program (Exec format error)

I am executing UNIX script on HP-UX system via SM69.
But getting following error:

First use SU53, to see if you have all SAP-authoritys.
But I think, you have no authority to execute UNIX-programs.

How can I execute an external program from within a button's event handler?

I am using Tomcat ApacheTomcat 6.0.16 with Netbeans 6.1 (with the latest JDK/J2EE)
I need to execute external programs from an event handler for a button on a JSF page (the program is compiled, and extremely fast compared both to plain java and especially stored procedures written in SQL).
I tried what I'd do in a standalone program (as shown in the appended code), but it didn't work. Instead I received text saying the program couldn't be found. This error message comes even if I try the Windows command "dir". I thought with 'dir' I'd at least get the contents of the current working directory. :-(
I can probably get by with cgi on Apache's httpd server (or, I understand tomcat supports cgi, but I have yet to get that to work either), but whatever I do I need to be able to do it from within the button's event handler. And if I resort to cgi, I must be able to maintain session jumping from one server to the other and back.
So, then, how can I do this?

NB: The programs that I need to run do NOT take input from the user. Rather, my code in the web application processes user selections from selection controls, and a couple field controls, sanitizes the inoputs and places clean, safe data in a MySQL database, and then the external program I need to run gets safe data from the database, does some heavy duty number crunching, and puts the output data into the database. They are well insulated from mischeif.
NB: In the following array_function_test.pl was placed in the same folder as the web application's jsp pages, (and I'd tried WEB-INF - with the same result), and I DID see the file in the application's war file.

Error opening external DTD 'Segnatura.dtd' using dbms_xmlsave.insertXML

I've been trying to insert a document in a table. All works fine
if the xml doesn't contains the doctype element!
If I add the row
<!DOCTYPE Segnatura SYSTEM "Segnatura.dtd">
to my xml I get the error:
oracle.xml.sql.OracleXMLSQLException: Error opening external DTD
'Segnatura.dtd'.
If I specify all the path "file:///temp/Segnatura.dtd" the insert
works, but I don't want to do in that way beacause I don't want
to modify the original xml that i'm inserting!
In the package dbms_xmlsave I have no ways to change the
basedir/baseurl
or to setValidationMode to false like in xmlparser package.
Is there any way to solve this problem??

I'm not using the xsql servlet.
I'm reading an xml file coming from the file system and I want to
import it in the db using a java stored proc.
I also have the dtd file (Segnatura.dtd) but I don't know where
to put in on the server.
If I run my java program and I put Segnatura.dtd in the execution
classpath on the program the xml is loaded fine.
If I load the stored proc in the db then I don't know where to
put the dtd. Do I have to put the directory containing the dtd in
the server classpath and the restart the db maibe?

Call external program in background mode

I am creating a PO using bapi BAPI_PO_CREATE1 in exit USEREXIT_SAVE_DOCUMENT_PREPARE.
I dont want to write the code in my exit. Instead I want to write the code in a Z program and call it in my exit.
My Problem.
How do I call my z program in my exit so that I can pass internal tables from my exit to the z program. Also I want to schedule the call of my external program for background processing.
I am trying with SUBMIT ZPROG AND RETURN. But not able to pass an internal table.
I tried PERFORM BAPI_PO_CREATE IN PRGRAM ZPROG, but in this case not able to schedule it in background.

Before calling an external program, check if the program is allready open

I need to call an external program to print some labels, so i will use function WS_EXECUTE or the new one DSVAS_DOC_WS_EXECUTE_50 to call my program, but the problem that i have is:
when I call this function, the program open a small window, and if i have to call it again, it will open another window, and so on... obviously this is not a good solution.
Is there any one how knows how can i close the program, of perhaps it is enough if there is some way to know if the program is already open.

Error in external tax system

Hi Guys
I am getting an error when the BAPI is being called by webmethods. The order gets generated but when i go in to it to verify stuff and on running the incompleteness check i get pricing error. On checking the pricing the tax was found not be be getting updated by the system therfore i manually entered and hit enter but got error in taskbar 'Error in external tax system: Line: 0 - 0440 TxJCdST The Fleximodule fo'
I then did a lookup for tax calculation in FI and found the table KOMK with field-TXJCD that updates the jurisdiction code for price calculation.
SPRO>Financial Accounting > Financial Accounting global setting > Tax on sales purchase >Basic setting > Check calculation procedure
The question is when we are calling the BAPI locally we are successfully created without error but calling the BAPI from webmethods its giving error.
Could any one suggest anything???

In an FI Enjoy transaction to post invoices, you enter data including a tax amount in the basic data screen, you enter a revenue line item and you choose the 'Profitability segment' pushbutton. As a result, the transaction terminates with message

The problem also occurs, for example, if you select a screen variant or an account assignment template.

SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE Can't exec external program (No such file or directory

Hi Experts,
I need to launch or terminate an external application (i.e. command prompt, notepad, etc.) in background job by using FM SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE. However, I am unable to proceed because of the following error occured after executing the command in SM69.

I am not able to assume the reason of the problem, If you say that its not getting executed in SM49 then the problem lies there.
So I am providing you a link which might be helpful, just go through it and cross check. There is a parameter called "trace" in the fm mentioned.
