Assuming that you are following the written instructions available at http://docs.oracle.com that walk you through the install. And assuming you installed the correct versions of libraries. And assuming you set permissions correctly.
I'd suggest metalink and opening an SR.
If you didn't follow the docs ... rm -rf would be a good place to start.

  • Automating Oracle Server Installation using response file

    I am automating Oracle Server Installation using response file. No Installer page should be displayed, except 'Optional Config Tools' page at the end of the installation showing the list of optional configuration tools e.g Net Configuration Assistant, Database Configuration Assistant, and Intelligent Agent Configuration Assistant. All other pages would not be displayed.
    My response file doesn't seem to work this way. During installation, it displays the 'Create Database' page asking whether you want Database Configuration Assistant to be automatically launched at the end of the installation for database creation. How do I prevent this page from displaying, while selecting default option (Yes) using response file?

    Provide info about the OS you are using and Oracle version.

  • Is Oracle server installation a pre-req for installing IFS 1.1 on NT?

    I have Oracle 8.1.7 server installed on a
    solaris box. I want to install IFS 1.1 on
    my NT. I did a Oracle 8.1.7 client install
    and proceded with the iFS 1.1 installation.
    Looks like iFS 1.1 installer on NT needs
    Oracle HTTPD server to be running. This
    HTTPD server seems to be packaged only
    with the Oracle server installer and not
    the client installer.
    null

    You're right. But you don't have to install the whole Oracle server on the machine where you want to install iFS. Just start the server installation, go to a custom install, and deselect everything except the Oracle HTTP Server component. That's all iFS needs on the middle tier machine (where you installed the Oracle client).

    OUI allows silent installation, which is especially useful for work sataions that do not support a graphical interface. You can capture the response to each installer question in a response file and use the file for future installations. Installer activities and result statuses are logged into files that you can review after installation.

    Hi All,
    I would like to know if it is suggested to install 32 bit oracle software on a 64 bit Linux box.
    Details of our new DB box below:
    $ cat /etc/SuSE-release

    Oracle : Oracle server Enterprise Edition 9.2.0.8
    We need this setup to match the other two 32bit linux DB server boxes so that we can use DB cloning and Transportable Tablespace feautres between these three linux machines.
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    PS: I did raise a request to support and waiting for the update.
    Thanks,

    Thanks Girish. But all my findings says NO NO and NO.
    From http://www.oracle.com/technology/support/metalink/index.html
    Certify - Product Version and Other Selections: Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition On Linux x86-64 (AMD64/EM64T)
    General Notes For Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition On Linux x86-64 (AMD64/EM64T):
    Processor Chip Information:
    Linux x86-64, support on AMD64/EM64T and Intel Processor Chips that adhere to the x86-64 architecture with supported Linux releases.
    "Running Oracle 32-bit on AMD64/EM64T (64-bit OS) is not supported . "
    Oracle 32-bit running on AMD64/EM64T with a 32-bit OS is supported, refer to platform Linux x86 for more information on product availability.
    Note: As Ivan confirmed EM64T is mark for Intel 64 (x86-64) processors.
    Even the metalink Note: 182999.1 says...
    "A 32-bit application will work on both a 32-bit and 64-bit O/S, whereas a 64-bit application will only work on a 64-bit O/S."
    but the same articel says
    "Note: These statements do not necessarily apply to Oracle on Windows O/S's, Itanium or AMD64/EM64T based Platforms. See Certify for specific information."
    and then I got update from Support. Even they Say....
    "No it is not suggested that you run Oracle at 32 bits for a Linux X86_64 platform. This would not be a good idea"
    I guess I need to sit with my senior DBAs and SA tomorrow to find the path forward...
    Thanks all.

    Make sure you unzip both zipfiles into the SAME directory, e.g.:
    cd /<whatever>
    $ unzip aix.ppc64_11gR1_database_1of2.zip
    $ unzip aix.ppc64_11gR1_database_2of2.zip
    $ cd database
    $ ./runInstaller

  • Xlc file Required for Oracle Product Installation on AIX 6.1

    Hi All,
    I am trying to install Oracle 11g Forms & Reports on AIX 6.1 [TL12].
    I have installed JDK and Weblogic Server without any Errors.
    When we reach 93% on software Alone installation with 11g Forms & Reports, we got some error
    ERROR IN INVOKING TARGET 'RELINK'  OF MAKEFILE  '///INS_PRECOMP.mk'We raised a SR for this Error, Oracle Support given one solution to follow.
    >
    Yes, there is a known issue with AIX OS.
    Before starting the Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Classic installation on IBM AIX, check for "xlc" availability on the system. It should be present either under /usr/bin/ or under >/usr/vac/bin directory.
    If /usr/vac/bin/xlc is present, create the following symlink as root user:
    # ln -s /usr/vac/bin/xlc /usr/local/bin/xlc
    If /usr/bin/xlc is present, create the following symlink as root user:
    # ln -s /usr/bin/xlc /usr/local/bin/xlc
    Please clean up the failed install and start new install once you follow the above steps and let me know the results.But Unfortunately in our AIX 6.1 Box we dont have any 'XLC', in any of the folder in entire file system.
    What is this XLC ?? if that is not available how to create the SYMLINK ?
    Kindly Some one Advice me.
    Regards,
    Paja

    Hi Paja,
    I would recommend you o post this thread under application server/weblogic forum.

  • Error installing Oracle11gR2 grid installer on AIX 6.1

    Hi,
    I am trying to install Oracle 11gR2 RAC on AIX6.1 system using NFS. I had a successfull run of cluster verify tool and after proceeding with the grid installer i am getting following error . The error is occurring during setup part of grid installer.
    "Exception String: Error in invoking target 'itnsping' of makefile '/u01/app/crs/

    The install log also has a large number of symbol table errors and warnings. Below attached is a snippet of the error logs:

    Please let me know how to fix this issue.

    Okay , I will check the libm.a file and probably will re install AIX. But can anyone let me know whether installing RAC on NFS file share is supported on AIX or not ? We need this setup for testing with min size databases.
    These are the configuration:
    OS: AIX6.1-TL-06
    Oracle: 11gR2 grid & Database
    NFS server : Linux NFS server. (Set up is for testing with minimal data)

  • Oracle 9i installation on AIX 5L -  fileset required not found in OS

    In the latest release notes for installation of Oracle 9i on AIX 5L (dated August 2002), it is stated in the systems requirements that
    in addition to bos.perf.libperfstat, the following filesets are also required:
    bos.adt.base, bos.adt.libm and bos.adt.perfstat.
    All except bos.adt.perfstat were found. IBM support states that there is no such fileset.
    We're having linking errors and we think that it is due to this missing fileset.
    Anyone know where we can find this fileset since it is not on the AIX 5L OS CD?
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks

    When I installed the first time, it didn't find perfstat either. It is located in /usr/lib/perf . It is part of bos.perf.
    Did you also have a problem with the -lm on the ld commands? I cant find a m.a or m.so anywhere on my system and if I remove that library from the command, I end up missing things.
