Error in readinf from Passport Reader Device

Hi,
In our application, we are using Keyboard device like Magnetic Stripe Reader, Passport Reader(OCR) etc.
We are stuck up with a typical problem using Passport Reader(PR). If we try to read the details from a Passport in a JTextField, few characters are missing. What we have observed is the characters which are repeated are being skipped e. g "Dheeraj" is being read as "Dheraj"
We have tested it in the notepad, it is giving correct information.
The sample code for testing is given below. Run this code, put the focus on Jtextfield and swipe the passport through Passport Reader.

I get the same issue. I also have Adobe Acrobat 6 Pro & Distiller for making pdf's. However the issue occurs with Acrobat Reader 8 when I am printing from my Sourcing system which defaults to Adobe Reader to view any documents. If I am printing pages 1-7 odds only it will print 1,3,5 but not 7 When I print the even pages I get 2,4,6,6. Crazy, if their are more or less pages it appears to print all but the last page of odds and all the evens plus an extra copy of the last page of evens.
The only way round it appears to be to print each page individually, then reverse them and print each even page individually.
I'm sure it's an issue with Reader as I have been through so many possible changes in default paper sizes and everything but nothing has resolved it.
