Error in Report Using XMLP without report builder

Hi,
Recently I came to know about the building the report using the XMLPublisher instead of Report Builder.
So i tried it But ended with error Please help me where I went wrong.
I have Created the Concurrent program with the Executable Type as 'XDODTEXE' and of Output type as 'XML'.
And
I have define the data definitions and uploaded XML file in Data template.
The XML file has the below,
"
<dataTemplate name="Invoice" description="This report gives the invoice details" version="1.0">
<parameters>
<parameter name = "P_INVOICE_ID" dataType = "NUMBER" defaultValue=""/>
</parameters>
<dataQuery>
<sqlStatement name="Q_Invoice">

,ai.Invoice_amount invoice_amount
,ai.vendor_id vendor_id
,ai.amount_paid amount_paid
,ai.invoice_date invoice_date
,ail.line_number line_number
,aid.distribution_line_number distribution_line_number
from ap_invoices_all ai, ap_invoice_lines_all ail,ap_invoice_distributions_all aid
where ai.invoice_id = ail.invoice_id
and ai.org_id = ail.org_id
and ail.line_number = aid.invoice_line_number
and aid.invoice_id = ail.invoice_id
and ai.invoice_id = nvl(:P_INVOICE_ID,ai.invoice_id);

</sqlStatement>
</dataQuery>
<dataStructure>
<group name="G_Invoice" source="Q_Invoice">
<element name="invoice_id" value="invoice_id"/>
<element name="invoice_amount" value="invoice_amount"/>
<element name="vendor_id" value="vendor_id"/>
<element name="amount_paid" value="amount_paid"/>
<element name="invoice_date" value="invoice_date"/>
<element name="line_number" value="line_number"/>
<element name="distribution_line_number" value="distribution_line_number"/>
</group>
</dataStructure>
</dataTemplate>
When I ran the report The ended up with the following Error,

• FAQ: Please submit all crash reports using Adobe Crash Reporter (Mac)

It's extremely important that if you encounter a crash to submit all crash reports using Adobe Crash Reporter on Macintosh and include the following information:
Please provide a detailed description. If you can consistently reproduce the problem with specific steps, submit those steps (see related article on writing a quality bug report) . Even if you don’t know the exact steps to consistently reproduce the problem, try to provide as much detail as you can about what you were doing when the problem occurred: What operations were you performing when the problem occurred and just before the error occurred? What type of document were you using? Did you recently use any plug-ins? If the problem is specific to a particular file, feel free to post the file via Dropbox, YouSendIt, or some other free file sharing service and include a link to the file in the problem description. If you have problems transferring the file or have a sensitive file, please contact the beta coordinators to make arrangements.
Please include your email address. Someone from the product may want contact you to gather more information from you.
Please note: Crash reports are only helpful if they're submitted using Adobe Crash Reporter. Sending crash reports using OS X's crash reporting infrastructure does not go to the Photoshop engineering team.
Please read the following articles for additional details:

Hi Gary,
First, thank you for submitting the crashes. And if you run into this again, on the about:support page you can click "submit crashes [[Firefox crashes - Troubleshoot, prevent and get help fixing crashes]] "
Copying and pasting the crash reports with bp in front of them will allow troubleshooters in the thread to take a look. Or pasting the bp-xxxxx.... in this search [https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/home/products/Firefox] will show you the report. It may also show a bug in the bug section if it is currently being worked on.

• Query on generating report using XMLP based on a search spec

Hi,
We are using XMLP reporting tool to generate reports for our application. Our requirement is to generate reports based on a search spec. Should I send this search spec as a input parameter to the FO processor? In other words, what is the exact procedure to generate reports based on a search spec? This search spec is provided at runtime.
Thanks,
Sudha.

Hi Henry,
Thank you for your response.
BEx query has not been created yet. we need to create accordingly and require your help in creating the same.
Regarding reporting requirements, User wants to have adhoc reporting with rolling months ( 12 months or 6 months) functionality. Users want to link any KF to this rolling months dimension.
If we can't have this, what is the alternative that we can propose to user.
Thanks
Akshara.

• REP 1219 object has no size error? when using a character report

REP-1219 'Margin' has no size- length or width
I searched on metalink, otn, and dejanews for this. I saw a variety of responses none are helpful. I am a forms person and do not know reports well.
This error happens when I try to change a report to character mode. My client wants to be able to view reports in excel. To do this, I need to change them to client mode.
I read places that I am supposed to change the font of all objects to fix this? How? I brought up the layout model. Clicked select and changed the font and size. Did not help?
How do I resize objects in report? I look in the property pallete of items under 'Margin' and I dont see any properties for size. I go to the layout model and try to size things and I cannot drag anything.
I tried using the convert utility that someone recommended. This did not work.
Please be thorough in your explanation and understand that I have read the existing notes about this problem.

Hi Ryan,
Firstly you should understand that Reports is a bitmapped reporting tool (think 600-1200 dots per inch laser printer), so when you run under character mode, Reports is taking objects that are sizable to the laser printer pixel and mapping them onto a much, much less granular character grid (e.g., 70x54 grid). So, a report designed for bitmapped may have many objects where after rounding to the character grid the object ends up being a line or single point in the character grid, making it have zero size...and you get the error when that happens.
You can see how your report looks in the character unit grid by following the steps in the help topic "Setting properties for an ASCII (character-mode) report". You'll want to adjust your layout objects to snap to the grid points of the character grid. You'll also want to use a font that comes closest to the character grid; you can do an Edit->Select All, and then choose, say, Courier, Regular, 12 point.
To get to the objects in the margin area of the report, choose View->Layout Section->Edit Margin. This will put the layout editor in a mode for manipulating only the margin objects. You can see the objects in the body area of the report, but you can't edit them. Then click this menuitem again to go back to editing the objects in the body of the layout.
Hope this helps...
regards,
Stewart

• How to create a single report using 5 difftent reports

Hi Experts
how to create a single report using 5 repors in it.
Example
I have to create a Survey history report using
Reports like Surevy 1
Surevy 2
Surevy 3
Surevy 4
Surevy 5
Please suggest me.
Santosh

Use Analysis Process Designer (RSANWB) to feed each of the survey BEX reports to one DSO. Assuming each of the surveys has something in common to compare. Could also be used as a snapshot storage for the surveys in case history needs to be compared/archived.
Build the Direct update DSO with the survey objects. Add needed time characteristics and/or version control objects to the key.
Data sources will be the 5 surveys.
Add formula to hardcode version/time for history.
Data target is the direct update DSO.

You must have the correct file extention. Here's what is wirtten in the detailed help of the function:
output filename specifies the filename of the generated report.
You must have the correct extension for the type of report to generate (.xml, .htm, .html, or .zip).

• Using JDAPI without installing builder?

Hi,
Is there a way of using JDAPI (latest 10g) without installing Forms Builder on your host? I tried a zipped install from another host and setting various environment variables (PATH, ORACLE_HOME etc) and it picks up the dll:s (Windows machine) but the init still fails to create the forms context. Is there Windows registry readings involved when JDAPI is bootstrapped?

First, let me start by saying that there is no "support" way to make this work. Whether or not it can be done will depend on the amount of effort you are willing to put forth. Remember that the jdapi package is just a backdoor way of accessing features used by the Builder. In other words, it biggest part of the problem is how to get those features to work without a proper installation. If this is expected to be a one time thing and not a setup you likely will use again, my opinion is that it will be easier to just install the product then uninstall it when you are done.
That said, in order to make it work you will need much more than just the PATH and ORACLE_HOME. Off the top of my head, here are just a few of the environment variables that will be needed. These would be set in the shell (DOS) where you plan to run the jdapi from. This can also be done in a script file.

PATH
ORACLE_HOME
FORMS_PATH
FORMS
CLASSPATH (Should include references to frmjdapi.jar, frmall.jar, and numerous others. Refer to a proper installation for a complete list)
FORMS_BUILDER_CLASSPATH (depending on how long CLASSPATH becomes)
TNS_ADMIN (if a db connection is needed and not configured in the home)
TK (points to \tools\common This may not be needed depending on what you functionality you need)
VGS (points to \tools\common This may not be needed depending on what you functionality you need)
DE (points to \tools\common This may not be needed depending on what you functionality you need)

Again, this are just what it takes to make a Builder environment work properly. So exactly what you will need may vary depending on exactly your needs.
THIS IS NOT CONSIDERED A SUPPORTED METHOD FOR USING THE PRODUCT

• Sort multiple Reports using only 1 reports columns

Hi there everyone,
I have been searching the forum to see there were any posts on this, but I haven't found one. I have a page with 3 reports. They all share a column which is the pk in the "main" report. I would like to be able to only show the sorting options on the main report, but have the others follow along on the pk column when any column is sorted.
Thanks,

Well, we can only guess. Try this:

Ted,
When I connect to the Derby database in Eclipse using the embedded driver, I can successfully drag and drop tables to create a report. This driver uses the derby.jar file and has no package sealing violations popping up.

When specifying a driver for a new derby database in Eclipse, the default Derby client driver expects to use the derbyclient.jar driver file. If I only specify this as the driver file this is the error I get:

The error I initially posted resulted after I added the derby.jar as a driver file in addition to the derbyclient.jar, which I don't think is supposed to be done now that I am thinking about it, but I did it because of the class not found exception above. Is this perhaps simply a bug that it is trying to utilize the derby.jar embedded driver when the client driver should be used instead? Or am I doing something wrong myself?

• Custom Report using pre-defined template

In 2012, How to create custom report using pre-defined reports template in below format?
Column1 :- Device Name
Column2 :- When installed (Date & Time)
Column3 :- Success (Date & Time)
Column3 :- Failed (Date & Time - With which error code)
Column4 :- Not Installed
Regards,
Onkar.

Here is what you need to do.
Start by writing the SQL query that you want.
Clone one of the existing report
Replace the SQL query with the new query.
Update the columns with what you need.
