Error in running rt.exec(command)

Hey experts
I don't understand the error that I got. My code is:
openRTSPURL.addActionListener(new ActionListener(){
               public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
                    String command = ("cmd/e/Client/java Client");
                    try{
                         Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
          Process process = rt.exec(command);
          } catch (IOException ex) {
               System.out.println(ex);
               System.exit(0);
               }//end of catch
OpenRTSPurl is the object name I created for a button which when I press the button it should run the command line.
The error is:
java.io.IOException: CreateProcess: cmd/e/Client/java Client error=2
Anyone know why?
Francis

error=2 means it cant find the file, try adding a space
'cmd /e /Client /java Client'....also why have you the slashes?

    Dear Friends:
    I met a problem when I want to use a Java program to run other java processes by Runtime.exec command,
    How can I run Runtime.exec command in Java To invoke several other java processes??
    see code below,
    I want to use HelloHappyCall to call both HappyHoliday.java and HellowWorld.java,
    [1]. main program,
    package abc;
    import java.util.*;
    import java.io.*;
    class HelloHappyCall
         public static void main(String[] args){
              try
                   Runtime.getRuntime().exec("java  -version");
                   Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd /c java  HelloWorld "); // here start will create a new process..
                   System.out.println("Never mind abt the bach file execution...");
              catch(Exception ex)
                   System.out.println("Exception occured: " + ex);

    } When I run, I got following:
    Never mind abt the bach file execution...
    I cannot see both Java version and Hellow World print, what is wrong??
    I use eclipse3.2
    Thanks a lot..

    Thanks,
    But How can I see both programs printout
    "Happy Holiday"
    and
    "Hello World"
    ??First of all, you're not even calling the Happy Holiday one. If you want it to do something, you have to invoke it.
    And by the way, in your comments, you mention that in one case, a new process is created. Actually, new processes are created each time you call Runtime.exec.
    Anyway, if you want the output from the processes, you read it using getInputStream from the Process class. In fact, you really should read that stream anyway (read that URL I sent you to find out why).
    If you want to print that output to the screen, then do so as you'd print anything to the screen.
    in notepad HelloWorld.java, I can see it is opened,
    but in Java, not.I have no idea what you're saying here. It's not relevant whether a source code file is opened in Notepad, when running a program.

  • Errors when running db_stat from command line

    Hi,
    I'm trying to use db_stat at the command line to generate statistics.
    However, I keep getting errors. I cannot use the db->stat call
    because this is to be done at a customer site using their existing binary.
    Note that the call to db_stat -m fails, while the call to db_stat -d <dbname>
    prints an error/warning then appears to succeed.
    Most likely, there is some usage subtlety that I have missed.
    Any suggestions about what I have done wrong?
    I am using BDB 4.6.21 on Windows. Databases are created inside a
    db environment.

    If I'm reading your code correctly, you're starting a Korn shell session, then executing your C shell script as if you were at at the session window's prompt. If that is correct, you haven't caused your standard out (stdout) to hit ENTER yet. I'm not an expert, but I hope this works for you.
    Your code:
    Process Child = runtime.exec("/usr/bin/ksh"); // execute command
                            BufferedWriter outCommand = new BufferedWriter(new OutputStreamWriter(Child.getOutputStream()));
                            outCommand.write("/home/mypath/tesh.csh");
                            outCommand.flush();I think you need to enter one extra line before the flush():
    Process Child = runtime.exec("/usr/bin/ksh"); // execute command
                            BufferedWriter outCommand = new BufferedWriter(new OutputStreamWriter(Child.getOutputStream()));
                            outCommand.write("/home/mypath/tesh.csh");
                            outCommand.newLine();  // hit ENTER
                            outCommand.flush();P.S. If you're running this script and your Java program from the same UNIX machine, you could just execute the shell script inside the runtime.exec() call.

  • Invalid group section error when running report containing command.

The error is somehow associated with the parameter used in this command. If I remove it and replace it by the value used when running the report, the report runs successfully. Also, strangely, when I define a default value for the parameter in the command and programmatically add a value for it by the method call parameterFieldDefinition.CurrentValues.AddValue(), also the report will run flawlessly. Without the default value it will fail. But when I want to run the command without a value for the parameter (parameterFieldDefinition.CurrentValues.AddValue("")), so for it to be empty, while a default value is defined for it too, also, running the report will result in an error. My question is: has anyone ever seen this type of thing happening? And is there a solution?

    Hi
         Is it a Date Parameter., ! if so, look for format it is taking. because u said report runs well when default value is assigned. Hope, most probably the problem will be related to data format.
    and
    try to provide details regarding CR version and all., will be helpful to others to help you.

  • Error on running exportRepository.bat command

    Hi,
         I was trying to export ProfileAdapterRepository contents to a .jar file using exportRepository batch command. I ran the following command -
    C:\ATG\ATG10.0.3\home\bin>exportRepository.bat -file profileExport.jar -r /atg/userprofiling/ProfileAdapterRepository
    But i am getting an error message as follows -
    [error] atg.deployment.loader.Resources->EDL_ARG_UNRECOGNIZED : unrecognized argument: "ûfile"
    Whats the fix for this?

    Your command seems to be containing an extra unwanted character which is causing this. This can happen if you copy-pasted the command originally from an UTF-8 editor or from a non-plain text source (e.g. a PDF or a word doc with command mentioned in a formatted text). Instead of copy-pasting you should type the complete command on the prompt or just use the plain text source and it should be working fine.

    DS_DIRMGRDN="cn=Directory Manager"
    DS_DIRMGRPASSWD=XXXXDoes anybody have an idea what's wrong?

    Unfortunately not. I figured out that the problem was caused by some missing libraries. The amserver.war of the package installation is not identical to the amserver.war archive of the the single war deployment, since the package deployment uses a shared folder for some of the libraries. After copying the libraries into the staging folder I ran into other issues. Therefore I decided to install Access Manager using the single war depolyment. I could then install the SAML v2 plugin without any problems.

    Something of a random guess:
    Do you have an older version of Java installed?
    Do you have CLASSPATH set in your environment pointing to that older installation?
    If CLASSPATH is set, try unsetting it and running the command again.

    What could be the reason for the above errors while running the tcl testsuite ?
    Is there any problem in berkeley db libraries that are build with above configuration?
    Could you please clarify.
    Thanks in advance.

    Is this problem occur if berkeley db jars having any issues ?Why because, when berkeleydb jars (build without tcl test flags in the same environment) are used in application under high load,application is hanged because of berkeley db native api.
    Sorry,I could not change ulimit value in my system because of lack of permissions.
    Can you please explain what could be the reason for the above error and how to rectify it.
    Thanks

  • Running jar in unix using runtime exec command

    Hi, i want to run a jar in unix with the runtime.exec() command,
    but i couldn't manage to do it
    Here is the code
    dene = new String[] {"command","pwd","java tr.com.meteksan.pdocs.pdf.html2pdf "+ f.getAbsolutePath() + " " + pdfPath};
              System.out.println("Creating PDF");
              FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream(new File(pdfPath));
              Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
              for(int i = 0 ; i < dene.length ; i++)
                  System.out.println("komut = "+dene);
              Process proc = rt.exec(dene);
              // any error message?
              StreamGobbler errorGobbler = new StreamGobbler(proc.getErrorStream(), "ERROR"); // any output?
              StreamGobbler outputGobbler = new StreamGobbler(proc.getInputStream(), "OUTPUT", fos); // kick them off
              errorGobbler.start();
              outputGobbler.start();
              // any error???
              int exitVal = proc.waitFor();
              System.out.println("ExitValue: " + exitVal);
              fos.flush();
              fos.close();
    when i run this program, the exit value of the process is 0
    can you tell me whats wrong?

    i changed the string to be executed to:
                             dene = new String[] {"sh","-c","java -classpath \"" + Sabit.PDF_TOOL_PATH
                                  + "avalon-framework-4.2.0.jar:" + "" + Sabit.PDF_TOOL_PATH

                                  + "commons-logging-1.0.4.jar:" + "" + Sabit.PDF_TOOL_PATH
                                  + "fop.jar:" + Sabit.PDF_TOOL_PATH + "serializer-2.7.0.jar:"
                                  + Sabit.PDF_TOOL_PATH + "Tidy.jar:" + Sabit.PDF_TOOL_PATH
                                  + "xalan-2.7.0.jar:" + "" + Sabit.PDF_TOOL_PATH
                                  + "xercesImpl-2.7.1.jar:" + Sabit.PDF_TOOL_PATH
                                  + "xml-apis-1.3.02.jar:" + Sabit.PDF_TOOL_PATH
                                  + "xmlgraphics-commons-1.0.jar:" + "" + Sabit.PDF_TOOL_PATH
                                  + "html2pdf.jar:\" tr.com.meteksan.pdocs.pdf.html2pdf "
                                  + f.getAbsolutePath() + " " + pdfPath};
