Error in starting iTunes 7.0.2

I downloaded the iTunes version 7.0.2 and that worked fine. The icon on my desktop reads "iTunesSetup". It is not the normal iTunes icon. When I click on it, a window pops up that says "C:Documents and Settings\Desktop\iTunesSetup.exe is not a valid Win32 application. I have Windows XP. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thanks.

Yes, both are checked. No password or other other parameters (i.e. Share only certain Playlists) are active.
In fact, on my G4 laptop running iTurnes 7.0.2, the Windows iTunes shows up in the Mac's iTunes Sharing list as an accessbile shared library. If you attempt to access this share via the Mac or other computer on the network, an error message (detailed above) is displayed. So, from the Mac, I can see the Windows share (but not access it), but from the Windows box I cannot see any share on any computer.
I was using this feature daily, running 2 machines side by side until the 7.0.2 upgrade was installed. 7.0.1 this feature worked fine. No other software installations or settings were changed in the interim.

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair".

Has anyone any idea how I can fix this error?
Thank you and greetings from Germany

I just started running into this error, too.
I'm running 8.2.1.6 on a Windows Vista Premium 64-bit OS. Plenty of speed, RAM, very fast capable machine.
I am running my iTunes library off of an external hard disk. Could that be the issue, it's just not ready fast enough when iTunes launches?
Just thought I'd post in case it helps answer the issue.
    Thanks

  • Windows error when starting iTunes 5.

    Hey.
My iTunes suddenly started giving me a Windows error when starting it. I installed iTunes 5 instead of iTunes 4 recently, and it has been running. But today when I wanted to transfer some more music to my iPod iTunes wouldn't start. I just get the Windows Error... thing. What can I do? I already tried to reinstall it, but as you know, it's god d*mn impossible to completely delete Apple software without a format.
I talked to a friend of mine who had experienced the same problem, but it was his firewall/antivirus (F-Secure) that was the problem, and I'm running PC-Cillin - which I tried to disable, but it didn't help.
    Help, thank you.

Deffo a missing quicktime issue. See my post Chris Rocco, "itunes launching problem.", 07:20am Oct 2, 2005 CDT
Itunes relies for some unknown reason on compression technologies in quicktime libraries. Crazy! No more quicktime alternative!

  • Error when starting iTunes for windows 64bit

When I start itunes (latest version as of 26-1-2014) I get the following error: The procedure entry point ?fastFree@***@@YAXPAX@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library JavaScriptCore.dll. I am working on a Windows 7 64 bit version.
Please advice. I have already uninstalled and re-installed iTunes, Apple Application support, MS .NET 4, Quicktime.

I  managed to resolve this by carrying out the steps here. I was getting the same error after trying to reinstall the previous version (11.1.13)
    http://www.reimageplus.com/fix-windows-127-error/
I uninstalled all Apple products and deleted the Program Files directories and restarted when it said.
Reinstalled and ITunes now works correctly. Hope that helps.

  • Runtime error when starting itunes

Lately when I've tried to start Itunes it launches, asks for my password, then give a message something like : Runtime Microsoft C++ error: This application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.
    Any ideas?

For what it's worth, I had the same problem that seemed to appear after I installed the Beta of Safari for PC, which also installed the Apple Updater. I uninstalled Safari - still had the runtime error. I uninstalled the Apple updater - the runtime problem went away and iTunes opened as normal. When iTunes opened after I uninstalled the updater, the message from iTunes appeared asking to update to 7.3. Perhaps there is a conflict between the updater and the one built into iTunes.

  • Error when starting itunes

I went to check for new podcasts today and when I clicked to start iTunes it first told me windows was configuring it, then it told me:
"An Error has occurred while attempting to create the directory C:\Program Files\itunes\itunesMiniPlayer.Resources\ko.lproj"
and after I click cancel yes I do want to quit it gives me:
"The Installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. Tis may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2330"
Any ideas? It worked yesterday, although itunes would freeze up during some podcasts.

Well, after trying the reinstall and still getting the same error message I restarted the computer and it ran a check disk and iTunes now works.

  • Error when starting iTunes and no Quicktime

Ok, I read a topic about involving the same problem, but with that one, Quicktime would open, mine will not.
My issue is simple, when I click to start iTunes (The new one, 7.02 I believe) I get the windows error saying:
"iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
I have tried re-installing iTunes and Quicktime, but with no result. Also, with QUicktime, it simply will not open. No error message, it just does nothing.
    Thanks for the help!

  • QuickTime error when starting iTunes

I have a 30Gb Video iPod. I have a new laptop, and moved software over from previous laptop using PC Relocator. I get an error message when I try to start iTunes: "QuickTime version 7.0d0 is installed, iTunes requires QuickTime version 7.0.3 or later. Please reinstall iTunes." I removed both iTunes and QuickTime through 'Add/Remove Programs' in the control panel, and reinstalled iTunes from both the original install disk and from the iTunes website, and got the same error. I also reinstalled QuickTime version 7.0.3, and get the same error. Has anyone run into this problem and gotten it fixed?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Go here and rool down to the section "Clean up iTunes installer files on the computer" then disable any antivirus programs and reinstall iTunes from the net http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
If that does not nail the issue, try installing the standalone version of quicktime here http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html

  • Registry error when starting Itunes Vista 64

Whenever I start Itunes in Vista 64 I get the message "Warning! The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs & DVDs are missing". • Error when starting iTunes... will not start. help please!!

so earlier I downloaded the latest version of iTunes and was having trouble installing it. I downloaded it a while ago when it was version 4 but I completely deleted it and installed version 7.
eventually I got it to work, however when I went to start it I got an error saying that it encountered a problem and needs to close. then another one comes up saying that it generated problems and I need to restart the program. I did, and the same thing happened.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the entire thing 3 times; same error. I called Apple Support and they said they couldn't help me b/c I am operating in Windows XP, and Microsoft's support is closed right now. I tried repairing it and nothing works. can anyone help please??

hmmmm. okay, if your itunes.exe is running continually in Task Manager, that suggests that you don't have the Qoologic problem that Ewido fixes. (with that one, the itunes.exe typically just shows up for a few seconds, if at all ... although in some cases of multiple malware infections, it hangs around for 10 to 30 seconds.)
so let's check on the usual suspects when itunes.exe persists in Task Manager.
if you've got Norton Internet Security 2005, try the trusty Lorraine M technique:
    Lorraine M: NIS/itunes problem rectified
... but if you don't have NIS 2005, or it doesn't seem to work for you, let's also check up on this possibility:
iTunes for Windows doesn't open after upgrading
