    It is because you have in html applet tag parameter "with" or "height" set to xx% and it should be set to exact value when you run applet in appletviewer.

  • JAXB in applet causing HTTP 404 (Not Found) error messages

    I am using JAXB in an (signed) applet to unmarshall XML into Java objects. It works fine and requires only a few lines of code, but when I take a look at my Tomcat log files, I notice that a lot of requests are being made that result in a 404 error message:
    "HEAD /com/mycompany/myapp/jaxb.properties HTTP/1.1" 404 1078
    "GET /META-INF/services/javax.xml.bind.JAXBContext HTTP/1.1" 404 1087
    "GET /com/mycompany/myapp/jaxb.index HTTP/1.1" 404 1063
    "GET /META-INF/services/javax.xml.datatype.DatatypeFactory HTTP/1.1" 404 1111
    "GET /META-INF/services/javax.xml.datatype.DatatypeFactory HTTP/1.1" 404 1111
    "GET /META-INF/services/javax.xml.datatype.DatatypeFactory HTTP/1.1" 404 1111
    "GET /com/mycompany/myapp/package-info.class HTTP/1.1" 404 1087
    "GET /META-INF/services/javax.xml.parsers.SAXParserFactory HTTP/1.1" 404 1111
    This piles up my log files and unnecessarily slows down both my server and application. Can anybody tell me why these requests are being made? Apparently, my applet can do perfectly without them. Is there a way of preventing these requests from being made? Shouldn't the applet look for them in its jar instead of asking the server?
    CBy

    Although these configuration files are not strictly needed, the whole class path is searched for them, which, in case of an applet, also involves server-side directories. By supplying them in your jar, you can prevent this overhead. It appears that javax.xml.datatype.DatatypeFactory, javax.xml.parsers.SAXParserFactory, and jaxb.index can even be empty files; only in jaxb.properties I had to enter a property value (com.sun.xml.internal.bind.v2.ContextFactory). It might not be a good idea to specify such a vendor-specific implementation detail, but it works for me. Perhaps I have been looking in the wrong place, but I find the use of all these files badly documented.

    What you mentioned is the PATH (where the system will look for any executables if you call them from anywhere on a command line).

  • Problem with JDK 6 update 5 - Error Message says cant find java compiler

    Hi i am a complete beginner to programming and i am having trouble with the latest java development kit. jdk 6 update 5.
    The problem is i have set the path and the program cant find my compiler.
    I have installed the latest java development kit 6 update 5 on my windows xp machine.
    I have created a simple program as shown below:
    class Hello
         public static void main(String[] args)
                   System.out.println("Hello from java");
    saved the file to my desktop as Hello.java
    I have set the path variable like so:
    Go to control panel then click system icon then click advanced tab then click environmental variables.
    Now in system variables the path is shown as this - %SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_05\bin;C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\;c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\binn\
    I then add this to the end;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_05\bin
    This is the location to the things like compiler, applet viewer etc.
    No in the command prompt i type javac Hello.java and i get this error message:
    C:\> javac Hello.java
    javac: file not found: Hello.java
    Usage: javac <options> <source files>
    use -help for a list of possible options
    The jdk is installed properly im sure but it can find my compiler.
    What mistake have i made in setting the path because im guessing that is related to the problem?
    Could someone out there please help me?
    Thank You
    Rafeeq

    saved the file to my desktop as Hello.java
    C:\> javac Hello.javaC:\ is not the desktop!
    The jdk is installed properly im sure but it can find my compiler.Of course it can! It just can't find the file you are trying to compile, because that's not in the root directory.
    I suggest you make a directory C:\java and save your source file there rather than on the desktop. In the command prompt, enter cd \java to make it the current working directory and then enter javac Hello.java.
    @Pravin: The question is about compiling, not running. CLASSPATH has nothing to do with this problem.

    Google for signed applets.

  • HT201210 After downloading latest version of iTunes it will not open.  This error message is displayed;  The program can't star because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer.  Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.  Then a second error box

    After iTunes requested that I download latest version on PC it now will not open.  2 error messages appear.  first:  The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer.  Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.  second:  iTunes was not installed correctly please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 126).  I have tried reinstalling a number of times and restarting computer but no luck.

    This happened to me today as well post installing the latest version of itunes.   I did a search on google for the error and came across a recommendation to :
    Note: Start Windows in Safe Mode to complete any of the following steps if you're unable to access Windows normally due to the msvcr80.dll error.
    If, and only if, you're receiving the msvcr80.dll is missing error when you open Apple iTunes, do the following: (skip this step if your msvcr80.dll error is occurring with a different program)
    Uninstall from Windows the following five programs in this order: iTunes, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour, and finally Apple Application Support. If you have iCloud, remove it as well.
    Uninstalling these programs in Windows is done from an applet in Control Panel called Programs & Features (in Windows 8, 7, or Vista) or Add or Remove Programs (in Windows XP).
    Note: Songs and playlists in iTunes will not be removed when you uninstall the iTunes program or any of the other, already-mentioned Apple programs. If you'd still like to back them up, they're usually located in the My Music folder in Windows.
    Download the latest version of iTunes from Appleand note the location you're saving it to so you can find it once it's done.
    Run the iTunes installation as an administrator. If you're not sure how to do that, see How Do I Open an Elevated Command Prompt? for help. That procedure shows you how to open the Command Prompt program as an administrator, but the steps are essentially the same for anything, including the iTunes installation package you just downloaded.
    A general overview of removing and reinstalling iTunes can also be found here on Apple's site but the above procedure seems to work better in this particular situation.

  • Getting "java.lang.NullPointerException" error message when trying to run an OATS OpenScript file from Eclipse to Create a record in Oracle EBS

    Hello,
    I'm trying to run a simple OpenScript script in Eclipse that creates a record (a Supplier in this case) in Oracle E-Business Suite. So I copied the the script file from OpenScript and created it as a Class in Eclipse.  Then I created a main class to call the methods within the script class but no matter what method I call (initialize, run or finalize) I'm getting the java.lang.NullPointerException message. The error doesn't seem to be related with any specific line in the script but with the way that I'm calling it.
    Should I call the OpenScript class from my main class in a different way? (see my examples below)
    BTW, all external .jar files coming with OATS have been added to my project in Eclipse.
    1) Here's the main class I created to call the OpenScript method (Eclipse auto-corrected my main class adding a Try and Catch around the method call):
    public class Test {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            nvscript nvs = new nvscript();
            try {
                nvs.initialize();
            } catch (Exception e) {
                // TODO Auto-generated catch block
                e.printStackTrace();
    2) Here's the script from OpenScript (the actual script has more steps but I'm just using the first one for a proof of concept):

    Here is the code causeing the error;

    Display("Query: ' " + GET_DATASET.trim() + " ' was executed successfully");
    catch (Exception ex)
    Display(ex.toString());
    Please let me know if more information is required. I am completely at a loss as to what more I need to do to get this to work using the new driver.
    Thank you all in advance,

    this is more of a jdbc question rather than an internationalization. You might be able to get more help if you post it in java programming section.

  • Can we show custom error message if the user fail to log in MII system.

    Hi,
    Is it possible to show a custom error message when a log in is failed because of access restrictions?
    I am using xMII version 11.5
    Thanks
    Regards,
    Neha Maheshwari

    Since you are on 11.5, it is possible to make edits to some of the system jsp pages, etc. but it would NOT be my recommendation to do so.  Since the NetWeaver versions for MII 12.0 and beyond use UME for the login instead of the LHSecurity engine, this would be a very short term change.
    What specific changes would you like to make, the login page messages, query result messages, applet messages?
