Error on not thrown "catch"

Why does the Java compiler complain about the presence of a "catch" that the previous "try" does not throw?
I can think of many valid reasons why I would code such statements like experimenting with code and not knowing which way is the way to go.
The Java compiler could give a warning if at all but essentially treat it as a "NO-OP" (no operation).
Instead I have to constantly comment/uncomment up and down my code to satisfy this silly Java compiler requirement.

Why would you want to have code to handle an exception that will never be thrown?
Anyway you could always have the method just throw Exception and then you wouldnt have to catch individual subclasses.

I think as your understanding of java improves, so will your appreciation for the language itself. But hey, if not, somebody's gotta write assembly code - better you than me!!!

STEPS
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1) from EDQ director we have imported the EDQ_CDS,EDQ-REFERENCE DATA & EDQ_HISTORICAl DATA packages sucessfully.
2) Created dnd.param file in SIebel server SDQCOnnector folder.
3) Copied the libdnd.so file to siebsrvr lib directory(32 bit)
3) In dnd.param file we have mentioned the javalib file and instllation directory path(<Siebsrvr roo>/dnd/install)
4) Unzipped the EDQ-Siebel Connector files in dnd/install folder
5) Copied the dnd.properties file in dnd/install directory and modified it accordingly to point to installed EDQ instance.
6) Configured the Siebel components for EDQ integration.
7) Realtime EDQ jobs are running.
8) Create a new Account
Env details are
On : 8.2.2.14 [IP2014] version, Client Functionality
EDQ 11.1.1.7.4
IBM JDK 1.7 32 bit

Any Champ have faced this issue and overcame it please let me know the resolution steps. your help is

Connect/Socket Timedout Exception is not thrown

I am getting the following problem very often. when I tried to connect to some URLs I am not able to connect those URLs and they didnot thrown any exceptions also but the process will be running until we kill explictly. here is my code

O/R mappers such as Hibernate and JDO generally defer communications with the database for as long as possible; for an insert or update transaction that will be until commit().
This is for several reasons:
1) general efficiency - a series of update() calls may modify the same attribute of an object multiple times; it's substantially more efficient to update the database just once
2) database efficiency - when a transaction is in progress, even when nothing is occuring in that transaction, more resources are consumed inthe database than when no transaction is active. For example, if a transaction updates a row and then 10 minutes later commits, then during that interval the database has to keep track of 2 different versions of that row and know which connections see which version of the row.
3) connection management - DB connections are expensive resources and once a transaction has started updating the DB, it has to tie up a connection for the duration.
In other words, no matter how long it takes to set up your transaction in Java, a good O/R mapper is not going to begin a database transaction until the last possible moment, which is at commit().
Can I force it to throw immediatelyYou can call commit() any time you want.
It sounds like you want the database to do your input data validation for you. That's wrong. You need to validate input (for size, length, whatever) before you attempt to put it in the database.

Exceptions from nested includes not thrown to errorPage

In our application a central dispatcher servlet includes JSPs.
 These JSPs include other JSPs. When an Exception is thrown from one of these
 pages it is not thrown, even when the error page is indicated in the
 included JSP with the page directive and the Exception is explicitly thrown
 from a catch block.
 I apprciate any thoughts.

I am having a stateless session bean(SLBean) which uses a singleton
class(Single1). Both the SLBean and the Single1 are in the same jar

Why does FCP error "File Not Found" when I try to open my sequences????

I recently updated all of my software and the following day I started getting errors "file not found" when I would try to open a sequence. Now all of my sequences are being lost and I am losing time and money because I can't meet deadlines! This *****!!! With one sequence I had to reedit the entire thing from scratch and when I did for some reason the old one would then open. But the next time I opened FCP both sequences would error out. Following the "file not found" the computer responds with another error "error: out of memory" What the devil is going on with this crap?

I seem to have figured out what my problem was. After trying to build the same project (that failed on the Mac Pro) on my laptop and encountering the same errors, I realized that the problem had to be with one or more of my assets and not my new version of FCP, since my PowerBook is running FCP 5.0.4 and my Mac Pro is running FCP 5.1.2.
In my case the "corrupt" file was a Photoshop PSD file. In the past (FCP 4.5) I was able to use PSD files with hidden layers. I would merge the visible layers into one layer, keep the hidden layers and save the file. Once in FCP, I imported the PSD file and kept right on truckin'. I've done this for years. For some reason now with FCP 5.1.2 (and 5.0.4), that's not flying anymore. Once I "Flattened" the PSD file in Photoshop (deleting all of the hidden layers) I was able to build the project without any errors.
Interestingly, the technique I used to figure out which file was "corrupt" also allowed me to salvage parts of some of my "lost" sequences. I saw this posted in a forum at Creative Cow (creativecow.net). Basically, I opened up the project, clicked the OK button after the File Not Found error, went into the Browser, right clicked on the offending sequence, selected "Make Offline". When I double clicked the sequence it opened in the timeline with all of my assets offline. Then in the timeline, one by one, I right clicked on each clip and selected "Reconnect Media". Once I linked up the media, if I didn't get an error message, I would save as a new project (to salvage what WAS working), and go to the next clip. I did this until I found the offending PSD files.
I hope this helps. Now it's time to play "catch-up"

can any one know what solution for this problem. It is very help full for me.

So look at your code and find out what you are passing to the TransformerFactory. Then find out why it's null. Don't just sit there and say "Duh", it's your code.
And remember that nobody but you can see it yet. If you like you could post it here and then others could see it and comment on it.

Error: Could not initialize ORB monitoring

Hi All,
I use Java application client to access SunONE 7 (final release, not beta) and got an error below.
1. The error was printed on screen, not thrown to program (any error should thrown to the program, so we know that).
2. It seems no harm. My program still functions right.
What was wrong? Any thing I should do?

I get the same error when I run my application on Windows.
It seens harmless. I posted this error, but no one cares.
But, when I run my application on Solaris, there is no such error. But with deadly error:

ERROR: could not serialize access due to concurrent update

Hi.
I use ejb+glassfish+postgres in my project.
The project is a web application for finansial data transfering.
I have three DBs, long global transactions, serializable isolation level, container-managed transaction.
When i test the project with concurent threads, i get an exception: "ERROR: could not serialize access due to
concurrent update"
I read that when you get suck kind of error, your program must rollback current transaction and then reply this transaction.
what do i need to do to complete this transaction? :
1) rollback and reply transaction
2) maybe, the are other ways to reply transaction (for example: glassfish configurations, ....)

If your DAO is nicely separated from your service layer as it should be then the solution I suggested above works and doesn't require you to change many classes because you can catch the expection in the DAO layer and do the retry in the DAO layer. That's where the solution belongs too because it's only applicable for your current database solution (Postgres). i.e If you change your database solution you need to change your DAO anyway, but only your DAO. If you put the solution in your service layer (or client layer) then you need to change those layers when you change your database solution which defeats the purpose of the separation.
If you still want the interceptor approach, you need to check if the transaction has been marked for rollback back, then you need to join the transaction with EM.join and from there you attempt to close and discard the joined transaction before starting another one to invoke the retry operation on. Bear in mind that you only do the rety when the transaction was marked for roll back because of that specific exception. Needless to say that this doesn't seem to be a clean way to handle your transactions (if you can get it to work that is).

I setup SharePoint for 3 tiers, WFE, APP + DB Server.
I installed SQL 2014 reporting service Add-in on APP Server and already enable sql reporting service in DB Server. DB Server can do report server.
I follow the step : https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219068(v=sql.120).aspx but I stuck in no.2, I cannot start the services, in picture below.
I checked the SSRS provision is disabled not online

According to your description, when you register and start the Reporting Services SharePoint Service, the error: Could not find SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\120 registry key is thrown out.
As this
article say, if you use three-computer deployment, the first computer hosts an instance of a SharePoint product. The Reporting Services Add-in is installed on this computer. The second computer hosts SQL Server Reporting Services and the third computer
hosts an instance of the Database Engine.
Regarding the error message, it could cause by the Reporting Services – SharePoint feature and Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint Products haven’t been installed. Please refer to articles:

Matlab syntax errors are not caught and reported when code is executed in a LabVIEW Matlab script node

I want to be able to catch errors that occur during the execution of Matlab code in a LabVIEW Matlab script node. According to my understanding of the documentation, errors of this type should be available at the "error out" signal point on the Matlab script node. I have noticed that even deliberately generating matlab syntax errors will not produce an error output. See the attached vi for an example.

I ran your example VI and the is what I got in the Error Out cluster:
"Code 1050
Error occured while executing script. Error message from server: ??? This is an error
. in matlab[1].vi"
If you are generating custom error messages in Matlab I would suggest passing them back to LabVIEW through output variables in the script node.

Error: Could not contact spell checker

Whenever I open Keynote or any iWork application, or even text edit for that matter, I get the following error: "Could not contact spell checker."
I have looked around on other forums and I'm not the only one to have had this problem, but no working solution has been provided, as far as I can tell.
I have not installed any third-party spellcheck software such as Spell Catcher or CocoSpell. I checked my international settings anyways, and there is no evidence that such programs exist on this computer. Nor do they show up in spotlight. There is no "services" directory in my library.
I tried replacing the "en" file under the "spelling" directory with one from a leopard machine, but no use. (So I put the old one back.)
I can't seem to figure this out. It is a system-wide error that happens with every application that uses spell checker.
Any advice would be really appreciated!

Try making a new user account and see if you are still having problems with spell checker with that user account. You may also want to try posting in the [MacOS 10.4|http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=177] area as it sounds to me like it is more of a system problem then Keynote specific.
