Error on RAC failover process
Dear All,
i am using oracle 10.2.04 RAC configured database and below is my TNS entry.
ORCL =
(DESCRIPTION_LIST =
(LOAD_BALANCE = OFF)
(FAILOVER = ON)
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(LOAD_BALANCE = ON)
(FAILOVER = ON)
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = host01.com)(PORT = 1521))
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = host02.com)(PORT = 1521))
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = host03.com)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVICE_NAME = ORCL)
(FAILOVER_MODE =
(TYPE = SESSION)
(METHOD = BASIC)
(RETRIES = 120)
(DELAY = 5)
Following are the TNS set up for three conection pools to db throught the web logic
jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=host01.com)(PORT=1521))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=ORCL)))
jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=host02.com)(PORT=1521))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=ORCL)))
jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=host03.com)(PORT=1521))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=ORCL)))
today we have faced connectivity issue in one server and failover not worked. due to this we have to restart the manage servers.
can you kindly review and let me know any issues in my configuration? if we create 3 separate connection pools will that ignore the RAC fail over?
Also please tell me the correct way to setup this.
Thanks,
Hi,
I didn't understand something, you wrote your connection pool strings, but you have 3. How does your application server open these connections? Which string does it use?
JDBC thin client does not use TNS configuration, so if a specific connection from the pool got connected to host2 and this node crashed. How do you expect it to failover if it doesn't have any information other than host2?

Can sombody tell me how the RAC instance will start. I know like CSS is the first process to start and then what happens how everything comes up.

thanks for the reply.

ThanksStopping the Oracle RAC 10g Environment
The first step is to stop the Oracle instance. When the instance (and related services) is down, then bring down the ASM instance. Finally, shut down the node applications (Virtual IP, GSD, TNS Listener, and ONS).
$ export ORACLE_SID=orcl1
$ emctl stop dbconsole
$ srvctl stop instance -d orcl -i orcl1
$ srvctl stop asm -n linux1
$ srvctl stop nodeapps -n linux1
Starting the Oracle RAC 10g Environment
The first step is to start the node applications (Virtual IP, GSD, TNS Listener, and ONS). When the node applications are successfully started, then bring up the ASM instance. Finally, bring up the Oracle instance (and related services) and the Enterprise Manager Database console.
$ export ORACLE_SID=orcl1
$ srvctl start nodeapps -n linux1
$ srvctl start asm -n linux1
$ srvctl start instance -d orcl -i orcl1
$ emctl start dbconsole
Start/Stop All Instances with SRVCTL
Start/stop all the instances and their enabled services. I have included this step just for fun as a way to bring down all instances!
$ srvctl start database -d orcl
$ srvctl stop database -d orcl

Just a minor comment on the stop nodeapps.
While it is fine to stop the nodeapps on the server, the drawback to this is, that the VIP will not failover if you stop the nodeapps, but will be stopped.
Hence if you only shutdown one server, then you are causing clients to fail to connect to the VIP and having to wait for the TCP/Timeout.
So if you are not going to shut down all the server, but just want to shutdown one node, you should failover the VIP the the other node.
See: Note 749160.1 Vip Does Not Failover When Nodeapps Stopped
So it is sometimes better instead of stopping the nodeapps, to simply shutdown the cluster with crsctl stop crs (which will failover the VIP).

ORA-Error: Maximum number of Processes exceeds
Hi,
Today we got one Oracle error: Maximum number of Processes exceeds while connects to our Oracle Database.
We have application running on our DB, which have 50 threads running and making connection to Oracle Schema.
In our init.ora file the Processes Parameter is set to 50.
But we also have another init<Schema Name>.ora file which has Processes Parameter as 50.
When I search on this error, I got that it is due to no. of user processes on Oracle instance.
What are these user processes exactly?
If we set the Processes Parameter as 150, and we have RAC environment with 3 Cluster, does it means we have 150*3 processes can run at a time.
The other doubt I have is that: Is this parameter is instance based, SID based or cluster based?
Please provide some input on this.
Thanks in Advance.
Manoj MacwanIf you don't issue
alter system set processes=150 scope=both sid='<your instance 1>'
all instances will be allowed to fork 150 processes.
The other poster is incorrect.

Hi,
Anybody did 11i/10g RAC Failover test. How to do the test and what steps involved. What is expected when one node down?
my config
web, admin, form - appsnode1
concurrent / db (rac1) - dbnode1
concurrent /db (rac2) - dbnode2
Thanks for your help.
RegardsYou can check the below
1. VIP Failover - VIP should failover when node gets rebooted.
2. When one of the node is down you should still be able to logon to applications.
3. Since you have only one node and do not use PCP you CM processes will die.Make sure you start them.
4.Once you bring the node back , test your load balancing is happening fine across both the db nodes.
Let me know if this is helpful/correct and if you need more information.

Hi All,
I am new to RAC, week ago I start reading RAC. Now i have little knowledge about the concepts & Architecture.
But still its confuse about the BAckgroup processes.
i have an idea about RAC background processes, but for better understanding kindly tell me the uses of RAC BG prosesses.
Try to explain with your own knowledge, because i read almost 15 to 20 documents. i understand but not clear.
better write your own experience.

Can anyone please help me with this error.I checked my server (which has all the default Adobe services) and the only service I have that comes close is:
the Repository service's "Read Resource Content" operation. In the list that comes up as RepositoryService.
The Barcode's Extract to XML service. In the list that comes up as BarcodedFormsService
Neither of these is an exact match to the error. Is your process calling a sub process you built? Does that service actually exist on the server? If you do a record/playback (in workbench) on which step does the process fail?
If you look through the entire list of SOAP services (in Adminui) are any of them disabled? -

Error in executing a process for compilation for jsp
We have an iView which has jsp pages in it. We deployed the par & try toaccess the iview & we get an exception. The issue is that the iview has a jsp page. At the run time, this jsp is converted into a .java file
without problem. But EP engine is having issues compiling this java fileinto .class file.
On the other hand this same iview works just fine on our windows installation. Only Solaris EP install is having problems. The version onwindows as well as on Solaris is EP6 SP9.
Here is the exact version on the solaris EP:
sap.com/SAP-JEECOR 6.40 SP9 (1000.6.40.9.0.20041119045253) 20041122132733
sap.com/SAP-JEE 6.40 SP9 (1000.6.40.9.0.20041119045409) 20041122132741
When I copy the .class file from windows to unix machine, the iView works fine. Here is the exception I am getting:

I am having the same issue with another iview which has jsp page in it.
The web dynpro iview works fine.Hi, seems like there's some typo in your jsp. Check the .java file listed with a java editor (like eclipse or devstudio.). Maybe you'll find the typo this way faster.
Most often, a multiline page import hampers jsp compilation,
e.g.
<%@page import="java.util.List,
java.util.Map"%>
needs to be
<%@page import="java.util.List,java.util.Map"%>

2.- If I stop/start SAPJ2EE the component, which was uploaded before,can be run without problem, but if you upload it again,when you try to run it again, the compilation error appears
Any suggestion???
ThanksHi:
the problem was not resolved deleting/uploading the components, the problem was resolved increasing the memory in the host and tuning the JVM memory parameters.
In our host the memory was reduced and this was the origin of the problem

Error in creating a process using runtime class - please help
Hi,
I am experimenting with the following piece of code. I tried to run it in one windows machine and it works fine. But i tried to run it in a different windows machine i get error in creating a process. The error is attached below the code. I don't understand why i couldn't create a process with the 'exec' command in the second machine. Can anyone please help?
CODE:
import java.io.*;
class test{
public static void main(String[] args){
try{
Runtime r = Runtime.getRuntime();
Process p = null;
p= r.exec("dir");
BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(p.getInputStream()));
System.out.println(br.readLine());
catch(Exception e){e.printStackTrace();}
ERROR (when run in the dos prompt):
java.io.IOException: CreateProcess: dir error=2

thanks,
DivyaAs much as I understand from the readings in the forums, Runtime.exec can only run commands that are in files, not native commands.
Hmm how do I explain that again?
Here:
Assuming a command is an executable program
Under the Windows operating system, many new programmers stumble upon Runtime.exec() when trying to use it for nonexecutable commands like dir and copy. Subsequently, they run into Runtime.exec()'s third pitfall. Listing 4.4 demonstrates exactly that:
Listing 4.4 BadExecWinDir.java
import java.util.*;
import java.io.*;
public class BadExecWinDir
public static void main(String args[])
try
Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
Process proc = rt.exec("dir");
InputStream stdin = proc.getInputStream();
InputStreamReader isr = new InputStreamReader(stdin);
BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(isr);
String line = null;
System.out.println("<OUTPUT>");
while ( (line = br.readLine()) != null)
System.out.println(line);
System.out.println("</OUTPUT>");
int exitVal = proc.waitFor();
System.out.println("Process exitValue: " + exitVal);
} catch (Throwable t)
t.printStackTrace();
A run of BadExecWinDir produces:
E:\classes\com\javaworld\jpitfalls\article2>java BadExecWinDir
java.io.IOException: CreateProcess: dir error=2
at java.lang.Win32Process.create(Native Method)
at java.lang.Win32Process.<init>(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Runtime.execInternal(Native Method)
at java.lang.Runtime.exec(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Runtime.exec(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Runtime.exec(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Runtime.exec(Unknown Source)
at BadExecWinDir.main(BadExecWinDir.java:12)
As stated earlier, the error value of 2 means "file not found," which, in this case, means that the executable named dir.exe could not be found. That's because the directory command is part of the Windows command interpreter and not a separate executable. To run the Windows command interpreter, execute either command.com or cmd.exe, depending on the Windows operating system you use. Listing 4.5 runs a copy of the Windows command interpreter and then executes the user-supplied command (e.g., dir).

Hi,
deployin my model i get the following error-message.
"Error in executing a process for Flex compilation, Error: Branch between 64935 and 97770 around line 0 exceeds 32K span. If possible, please refactor this component.
Error: Branch between 64935 and 97770 around line 0 exceeds 32K span."
Do i delete a sort-element from my model it is deployed very well. So what does this message exactly mean and how can I locate where the error occurs and how can i fix that problem because i need this sort-element to be in my model.
Thanks for your help!
TobiasHi Tobias,
You are receiving this error due to a current limitation in the Flex server. How you can fix this is to split the iView you are currently working on into two iViews, and embed one within the other. This will decrease the size of the current iView you are receiving the error for and eliminate this problem.
Hope this helps
Cheers,

APHi,
We are also getting this error when deploying BPEL process. It happend us now already on second server, where we have 10.1.3.3 instaled. So latest version. Funny is, that we were able to deploy same BPEL on this server several times before, and then suddenly it is not possible to do so anymore. Exactly the same BPEL process version can be deployed on some other servers. So it is something specific with the server, but we have no idea what exactly.
Does anybody has some answers for this? Thanks!

<input type="text" name="MacroTaskName" >
<button
id="identifier"

Sender Mail Adapter Error: exception caught during processing mail message;
HI , I am configuring mail to file scenario. Need to read mail content (no need to capture From,TO or Subject details) and create a file with the content in the mail.
Need to read mails from microsoft outlook. Exchange server has been configured for POP3 protocol.
Following are the details provoding in sender mail adapter:
URL: provided url in the format: pop://<server name>
Authentication method: plain
provided user credinetions to access mails.
poll interval - 1min
content encoding none.
processing parameters : quality of service-exactly once
Since there is no need to capture From,TO or Subject details, didn't select the option - use mail package.
Verified for unread mails in the mail box and made sure that there are few unread mails.
Also, created data types and other components in IR and completed mapping.
But after starting sender mail communication channel, getting error "exception caught during processing mail message; java.lang.NullPointerException" in RWB-adapter-communication channel monitoring.
please let me know what needs to be done to resolve this error.
Thanks.HI Stefan, i tried, but still it is giving same error. Yes, i am able to access outlook mail with the user credentials given in the communication channel to access exchange server.
I am using message protocol: xipayload . Also since i dont have to capture TO,from,subject details., created data type just with one element of type string, not in the standard format .Does this makes any difference. -
