Error: - ORA-12542: TNS:address already in use. How to resolve?
Hello all,
Can anyone guide me how to resolve this error. I have encountered this error for the first time!
Usually I run my batch job at every night. It generally takes 2 hours to 3 hours to complete. Till date I have not faced any problem of this kind.
I understand that there is conflict of Ports. The port that is being used by my listener, is also being shared by some other. I am not aware of that other program which may be using the port assigned to the listener.
Thanks in advance.
Himanshu

Linux Error: 98: Address already in use

RegardsThanks for your time and reply Yas...
Actually, I am trying to stop it and it hangs. Nothing else except help works on the listener prompt but the listener process is running.
I killed the listener process using kill -9 and now I am not able to start it. I tried different ports also. Can someone please help me solving this? Start to stop commands just hangs.

TNS-12542 : TNS: Adress already in use
We have 2 SAP System on one SUN Solaris Server. The Listener of the first system EC1 uses the port 1521 , the listener of the second system SO1 user the port 1522 - according to configurations files tnsnames.ora and listener.ora. The problem is that listener of SO1 can't be started and I receive the follow Error-Message Listener ( lsnrctl start) :
"System parameter file is /oracle/SO1/network/admin/listener.ora
Error listening on : <Adress=<Protokol+tcp><Port=1521>>
TNS-12542 : TNS: Adress already in use
TNS-12560 :TNS: protocol adapter error
TNS-00512: Adress already in use
Solaris Error : 125: Adress already in use
From this error message is clearly that Listener of SO1 uses the port of EC1 1521. Where else could be listener ports configurated ? Why the Listener of second system use the port 1521.
On this server runs only one Listener on port 1521 for EC1.
Thank You!

Error establishing socket. Address already in use
Running CFMX 6.1 on Win2k3, I just recently started getting
these errors from connections to one of our SQLServer database
servers (2000, enterprise):
quote:
Error Executing Database Query.[Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC
Driver]Error establishing socket. Address already in use: connect
Any ideas what might cause this?ok. well, if you think that was useless, you might as well
not read on... this isnt a coldfusion error. it only appears that
way because you are using cfml. this is a most probably an SQL
issue. i say most probably, because there are many reasons this
could be happening. try doing things in these steps as they are in
degrees of harshness.
1. check the server event log, see if you have an entry like
this
'You are running a version of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (also called MSDE) that
has known security vulnerabilities when used in conjunction with
the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 family. To reduce your computer's
vulnerability to certain virus attacks, the TCP/IP and UDP network
ports of Microsoft SQL Server 2000, MSDE, or both have been
disabled. To enable these ports, you must install a patch, or the
most recent service pack for Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or MSDE from

install sp4
[L=http://www.microsoft.com/sql/downloads/2000/sp4.mspx]http://www.microsoft.com/sql/down loads/2000/sp4.mspx[/L]
2. change your database server name to its IP (if that doesnt
work, you might as well change it back)
3. make sure you are authenticating with an SQL account.
windows integrated authentication does not work well ... in your
SQL enterprise manager, set it to mixed authentication in the
security tab, select SQL server and windows authentication. the
microsoft driver seems to not handle the windows authentication
properly. i wouldnt use the the SA account, create another one just
for this purpose.
4. under the general tab in your enterprise manager click
network configuration. enable TCP/IP which is not enabled by
default
5. Install SQL Server 2000 sp3 or sp4
and here are some other useless articles you might want to
read...

Transport error 202 bind failed address already in use
how to rectify -- transport error 202 bind failed address already in use-- while running CA server
i have created new production and pub server, first i runned production server after that while running CA server i got that error. if i run CA server independently its runningIt seems like a port conflict issue. You should check rmi and other ports in the configuration file for the component /atg/dynamo/Configuration in the localconfig of your production and publishing servers directories under <ATG>\home\servers. Also, your app server should be configured to run two separate instances for production and publishing server as per the http ports specified in /atg/dynamo/Configuration.

TNS Address already in use error
Using Oracle9i, through the ODBC driver on a Windows 2000 machine, we receive the above error (ORA-12542) whenever our application attempts to establish more than 22 concurrent connections. Is there a performance limit or something that's tunable in Oracle9i?
Try creating a registry value under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ORACLE called USE_SHARED_SOCKET and set it equal to TRUE. -
As header says how do you fix this?
I had two Apple accounts prior to iCloud's debut along with a separate MobileMe account. I'm not sure how things were set up prior, but now with iCloud, I just realised that I can log in to apple.com with my former MobileMe email address. So now I have three Apple accounts.
I use my former MobileMe email address to log in to iMessage. If you don't do this, when you try to use the temporary location sharing feature of Find My Friends, you'll get some kind of error message regarding this.
The additional email address I wanted to add to iMessage was used as the primary Apple ID for one of my other Apple accounts and as a secondary address in the other. I had to resolve both of these issues before I could use this email address as a secondary address with iMessage. For the former, I had to use a different email address for the primary Apple ID while for the latter, I had to simply remove the email address as a secondary address in the account.
You can manage all your Apple accounts at https://appleid.apple.com. Hope this helps. -
Remote debugging issue: Address already in use
First, I want to explain that to use remote debugging in oracle UCM server (IdcServerNT.exe), I add these lines at */server/bin/intradoc.cfg*:
JAVA_OPTIONS_debug_enable=-Xdebug
JAVA_OPTIONS_debug_options=-Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,server=y,address=8000,suspend=n
and since the JAVA_OPTIONS is shared between admin server (IdcAdminNT.exe) and non-admin server (IdcServerNT.exe), to prevent "Address already in use" error, I added same lines but with empty value into */server/admin/bin/intradoc.cfg*:
JAVA_OPTIONS_debug_enable=
JAVA_OPTIONS_debug_options=
or alternatively enable it but use different port for the "address=xxx".
Now the issue is when I had run the non-admin UCM server with remote debugging enabled, then I tried to run the Component Wizard, I got "Address already in use" error:
ERROR: transport error 202: bind failed: Address already in use ["transport.c",L41]
I found out that's possible because Component Wizard (ComponentWizard.exe) is using same setting file with non-admin server (IdcServerNT.exe): */server/bin/intradoc.cfg*. It's obvious that happened because of ComponentWizard.exe is in same location with IdcServerNT.exe, so I think other tools like Batch Loader and System Properties will be affected with same issue too.
Because of this issue, everytime I want to open Component Wizard, I had to stop the non-admin server which is inconvenient.
So, the question is there a way to define separately or disable the JAVA_OPTIONS_debug_enable & JAVA_OPTIONS_debug_options for Component Wizard?WillT wrote:
My run method was being called somewhere else and I can't find out whereOkay, but changing from implementing Runnable to extending Thread won't change that one whit. You must've also changed something else.
Extending Thread is the wrong approach, since you're not creating a special kind of Thread. -

The system version is: Solaris 8.

Feb 17 04:47:30 MONTSENY inetd[29012]: [ID 161378 daemon.error] exec/tcp: bind: Address already in use
The only strange thing that I see is that in /etc/inetd.conf
there are theses lines:
shell stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/in.rshd in.rshd
shell stream tcp6 nowait root /usr/sbin/in.rshd in.rshd
exec stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/in.rexecd in.rexecd
exec stream tcp6 nowait root /usr/sbin/in.rexecd in.rexecd
But I haven't enabled IPv6 on my system.
I also have this message at random time:
Feb 18 18:43:46 MONTSENY inetd[157]: [ID 268928 daemon.error] rusersd/rpc/datagram_v,circuit_v: could not get transport information
Feb 18 18:43:46 MONTSENY inetd[157]: [ID 307641 daemon.error] rusersd/rpc/datagram_v,circuit_v: tli_socket: No such file or director
There is only one instance of inetd running.
I haven't installed any additional services. At the beginning things went ok I think that the problem started when I added an IP address to the second eth interface.
The system is a Sun Netra T1.
The system version is: Solaris 8.

Error message "Pro.sparsebundle" is already in use when trying to back up computer
My computer will not back up to Time Capsule and gives me the Error Message pro.sparsebundle is already in use - how do I reset so I can back up
Reboot the TC.
Since there is no on/off button.. power off the TC at the wall or remove the power cable.. count to 10 slowly.. plug the power back in again.. voila. reset.
