Error: PDF creation cannot continue because Acrobat is not Activated

This error seems to pop up randomly and the only way to get rid of it is to reboot my computer.  I've tried to exit all applications and restart but does not work.  Rebooting is a pain.  Can anyone help?

  • Adobe PDF creation cannot continue because Acrobat is not activated

My system is Win7 and I have Acrobat X Pro. It was working fine at first and then I start getting this error message when I try to create a PDF file. I search the web for a solution and the only one works for me is to end the AcroTray.exe from Task Manager. However, this is not a very good solution since I need to create quite a bit of PDF files. And the combine function stops working. Now it's like my Acrobat Pro doesn't work at all. I tried reintall the Acrobat but it doesn't do any good. Can someone help me with this problem please?

I was getting this exact error when trying to print to PDF from Firefox.
FWIW, these steps did not work for me.  Here is how I fixed this error for me (Windows 7 64-bit, CS6).
I went to Start Menu > Control Panel > Programs and Features
I found that I had both Adobe Acrobat X Pro installed *and* Acrobat Reader XI.  I am not sure how Acrobat Reader got installed, but that was what was causing the error.
I clicked on Acrobat Reader XI and then "Uninstall".
No reboot required.  The error went away once Acrobat Reader XI was gone.
I hope that this helps someone else.

I have the exact same issue. I can print one document and then I get the error mentionned above ("adobe creation cannot continue because acrobat is not activated"). Then I need to reboot in order to be able to print a new document.
I have suite and went to Photoshop as suggested, but this program is already activated. I tried to launch Acrobat Pro but it won't.
I'm using the Design and Web Premium CS6 Suite on Windows Vista.
Thank you so much for your help.

  • Error: "Adobe Distiller cannot continue because Acrobat is not activated."

I am simply trying to convert a .doc to a .pdf with Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro (I have tried from MS Word and also in Acrobat). I know that my product is already activated because when I got to Help>Activation, the "Activate" option is grayed out. Any ideas?

"Interesting enough you can modify PDF files and save them using Adobe [Reader] 8."
That's a feature of Acrobat 8 Professional, in case you didn't know. When using Acrobat 8 Pro, you can configure the setting of any specific document to enable special features when opened with Adobe Reader 8. The special settings include: security, commenting documents (and saving your changes), as well as fill out and save forms.
This means that you can create documents and send it to people who don't have the full Acrobat version (only the free Reader), yet enable them to input their comments and additional data.
You can read more at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatpro/upgrade_customer.html, under the "Enable advanced features in Adobe Reader" section.

  • Adobe PDF creation cannot continue because Acrobat not activated

Adobe CS3, Acrobat Professional 8.1.0, Windows XP Pro: CS3 has been working faultlessly for several years. Suddenly, when I try to print using Adobe PDF as printer I get message "Adobe PDF creation cannot continue because Acrobat not activated". To my knowledge all of CS 3 should be activated. InDesign, Photoshop, Bridge, Illustrator, etc work fine. I can even open Acrobat 8 and call up documents but I cannot print to it. When I click on "Activation" in Help menu, both "Activate" and "Deactivate" are grayed out. Any suggestions?

Perhaps you should use this tool:
    <http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/licensing.html>
The tool repairs the license but before using this tool, have you tried re-booting the system just in case this is a temporary problem?  Also, it is a good idea to create a temporary profile and try using the PDF printer to see if it is working.
If it is working in your temporary profile, then this suggests that your preference file might need to be re-created but this is for next time after you have tried using the pdf in your test profile.

  • Protection Error - This application cannot continue because another application with an identical serial number is already running on another computer on your network

I attempted to open Final Cut Express this morning and got the message, "Protection Error - This application cannot continue because another application with an identical serial number is already running on another computer on your network".
I have no other FCE on any computers...this is the only mac running (iMac 2008 model).  I used a preference manager app and deleted preferences...didn't work.  I uninstalled and reinstalled FCE...didn't work.
This is the first time I have used FCE since installing the Yosemite OS, so I'm thinking perhaps that has something to do with it.
    Any ideas?

There have been recent posts appearing about your problem. I'm not sure if anyone has found a solution.
FCE was abandoned by Apple years ago, and they are currently making Operating Systems without regard to how it impacts FCE.

That is what I would try - a fresh install - but your need to use FCS remover (from the same software source as Preference Manager) to make sure you get all traces of your existing installation off the drive prior to doing the installation:
    http://www.digitalrebellion.com/fcsremover/
If you use FCS Remover, and reinstall the other problem may be that Apple has apparently removed the Software Upgrade to FCE 4.0.3.
So unless you have a 4.0.3 install disk, or you hadn't upgraded past the version number of the install disk you do have, you legacy projects may be tagged as being created with a later version than you have and not open.
Hope it works out for you.

  • Lightroom says acrobat is not active

My lightroom says that I cannot print to PDF because acrobat is not active. What can I do?

    Hi Stephanie ,
Please follow the steps below to change the default program for viewing pdf's
    Launch Acrobat
Click on the 'Edit' button in the toolbar, and then select 'Preferences'
A new window would come up. On the left column, higlight the 'General' Tab and on the right hand side at the bottom there's a button called 'Select Default PDF Handler'
Click the button and select 'Adobe Reader' as the default for PDF's.Click on 'Ok' now to save the changes.
Alternatively, you can simply right click on any pdf file and then select 'Open With..' > 'Choose Default Program' and select 'Adobe Reader' from the list of programs.
Make sure the option at the bottom is checked that says ' Always use the selected program to open this kind of file'.
Click on 'Ok' now to save the changes.
To uninstall Acrobat you can simply uninstall it from the Control Panel > Programs or use the Acrobat cleaner tool : http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html

  • No PDF file was created because Acrobat encountered an unidentified error.

    Product:
    Adobe Acrobat 8
    Windows XP SP3
    Problem:
when user try to combine multiple PDF files into one file from network drives (hence that user have full permissions), received this error:
    "Error (file skipped)
No PDF file was created because Acrobat encountered an unidentified error."
    Steps taken so far:
    - cleared windows temp files
    - cleared acrobat temp files
    - tried, same error
    - ran acrobat repair, tried it out, same error
    - made adjustments to "PDF Printer Properties per this article
    http://www.experts-exchange.com/Web_Development/Document_Imaging/Adobe_Acrobat/Q_23903725. html
    - tried again, no luck.
    - removed adobe acrobat and reinstalled it completely from scratch.
    - ran updates
    - tried again, no luck.
    - granted the user full permission access to acrobat folder under program files, still same error
    - then, copied files that I need to convert locally to the system and tried to combine them, it worked!
    - its not permission issue as I tried the same from my domain admin account and received the error.
    - also the user reported that acrobat takes 15 o 20 sec each time opening a file
    Any ideas?!
    Thanks!

If I change the properties to open as administrator, within the program I can combine pdfs over the network drive.
.  I can't drag and drop or combine pdfs from windows explorer and everytime I open acrobat it asks if it can make changes.
So it's still best to copy to c drive in order to use Combine and Portfolio features but would be really nice to use as designed.

  • Adobe Acrobat XI: Error Adobe Acrobat is not activated. Cannot create PDF File.

After installing Acrobat XI Pro on Windows 7 Ent. w/Office 2010.
From MS Word, select Save as PDF, I recieve "Adobe Acrobat is not activated. Cannot create PDF file."
Any and all troubleshooting has failed.
Uninstall Acrobat, language packs, re-install, install updates, Install on fresh image.

kglad  your link refers to Windows XP. As to the rest it is questionable. First of all it would be nice to know the cause, before fixing the problem. For in some cases eliminating the cause will solve problems later on. So, in my case for ex. The problem did not exist until I protected my Word 2010 document and then saved it to PDF--which it would not allow to do so and giving the error message stated above.

    Hi,
The problem is a unsuccesful installation of driver in the driverstore, the first step would be to ensure that you are using the latest driver for the hardware and operating system or you’re experiencing
    compatibility issues with a driver.
Then I suggest pressing shift+f10, and type diskpart then lisk disk, view whether all disks work fine.

  • 1.5 plugin installer cannot continue because files unavailable

My applet wants to use any 1.5 plugin with
    codebase = "http://java.sun.com/update/1.5.0/jinstall-1_5-windows-i586.cab#Version=1,5,0,0" .
But after downloaded the 1.5 plugin successfully and install begins, I get this popup error (that I cannot cut and paste, so anonyingly I'll type in manually):
    Error - Java(TM) Installer
"This installer cannot continue because the files necessary for installation are unavailable. If trying to install a beta or older version, please check http://java.sun.com/j2se to deterimine if it is still supported. If so, please try installing at a later time, as these files might be only temporarily unavailable."
I tried to to this plugin install over several days, as of Feb 20, 2005, it is still error popup and NO GO. So my applet is unusable for people who have no 1.5 plugin.
By the way, this installer worked a week ago.
    Anyone has similar problem?

Thank you. You are right. The error was actually produced by j2EE 5.0's htmlConverter.exe that
    errorneously produced "1.5.0/jinstall-1_5-windows-i586.cab"
    instead of "1.5.0/jinstall-1_5_0-windows-i586.cab".

  • Print Problem - PDF is OK on Windows 7, but OK on Windows XP with "Acrobat Reader An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem."

I have received a PDF which prints fine in Windows 7 but with Windows XP I get "Acrobat Reader An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem." and a blank piece of paper passes through the printer. I appreciate that Windows XP is no longer supported but I would like to think that the solution to this problem is not too difficult!
    I have tried Acrobat 9, 10 and 11.
Any advice (apart from use Windows 7! ) would be most welcome.
    Many thanks.

If you use the same Adobe Reader versions with the same PDF on Windows 7 and XP, then I would expect the outcome to be the same.
Is this a local or online PDF?
If local, is the file really exactly the same?
    If online, in what browser?
