Error reverse engineering Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.1 with ODI 11.1.1.5

I have the port set to 11333 Hyperion RMI service is running.. still getting this error..
By the way it looks like this 11.1.1.5 release of ODI has too many bugs when loading data and metadata to Hyperion..
It seems that I need ODI to be installed on Planning server.. I had it running on the other (essbase) server originally and it could not even access Planning unless I used the Agent.. Now I am getting this error:

  • Hyperion Planning on 64 bit Solaris. ODI on 32 bit Windows.

    Hi,
I have Hyperion planning on 64 bit Solaris and ODI installed on 32 bit windows server. Could not reverse a planning app in ODI.
The error message says - Could not connect to Planning instance.
I have checked the RMI service at port 11333 on solaris and its running. I can telnet to this port from the windows server successfully.
Has any one come across such an issue before or knows of any issues regarding this?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

I had a problem with ODI being on linux and planning on windows.
I could telnet the ping / telnet across between boxes. When reversing it could connect to planning but could not return, it turned out to be an issue with loopback on linux that had an extra ip of 10.0.0.0
I removed the loopback from the host and it started reversing without a problem.
If you telnet then maybe it is some sort of routing host file issue.
    Cheers
    John

  • ODI - Java Error when trying to reverse engineer - Hyperion Planning

    Hi,
I am receiving the error below when I am attempting reverse engineer the emission members into the models tab in the ODI Designer. In topology manager I get connection successful in both Synopsis memory engine and in File technology and I have checked all my settings and everything looks correct compared to the test environment. We are actually testing the Production install with a very simple Hyperion Planning dimension build. Does anyone have any ideas why I am receiving the error below.

    Hi,
It looks as though we got it to work. However the way we got it to work is a bit confusing. We had someone just login and try it. The only difference is they used the admin username instead of the one we were using. They successfully ran the reverse. Then we re-logged in with the other username we were using before and it worked.
I just realized however before they did that, I was on the Prod server trying to open and view the odiparams.bat file. I accidentally ran the file by choosing 'open' instead of 'edit'. Thus I'm thinking that running that odiparams.bat file actually fixed the issue rather than logging in with admin account.
What would your professional opinion be on this as we can't recreate the issue and figure out which one fixed it.
    Thanks,

    Thanks in Advance.
    Alicia

I suspect that this is caused by an "incorrect" datasource definition when you create a new one.
I noticed that when I created an Essbase DB through the Essbase Enterprise Admin Service, it only allowed me to create one for localhost, not my server name EVEN if when the "Manage Data Source" validated the connection.
This points to one of the myriad of apps inconsistently trying to resolve a server name.
So, in EAS, see if you can connect to your local Essbase install and if successful, use the exact same params for you Workspace Application.
    Hope that helps.

note The full stack trace of the root cause is available in the Apache Tomcat/5.0.28 logs.
After going throgh Google search i came to know that it problem with Tomcat CLASS PATH.
    I checked C:\Hyperion\HyperionPlanning\AppServer\InstalledApps\Tomcat\5.0.28\HyperionPlanning\bin\startHyperionPlanning.bat.
    It says
" REM Hyperion Workspace startup script for tomcat server
    REM Check HYPERION_HOME
    if "%HYPERION_HOME%" == "" set HYPERION_HOME=C:\Hyperion
    SET CATALINA_HOME=%HYPERION_HOME%\common\appServers\Tomcat\5.0.28
    SET CATALINA_BASE=C:\Hyperion\HyperionPlanning\AppServer\InstalledApps\Tomcat\5.0.28\HyperionPlanning
    CALL %CATALINA_BASE%\bin\setSAPEnv.bat
    CALL %HYPERION_HOME%\common\config\setJAVA_HOME.bat
    REM Setting custom parameters
    SET SETPARAM_SCRIPTNAME="%CATALINA_BASE%\bin\setCustomParams.bat"
    if exist %SETPARAM_SCRIPTNAME% (
    call %SETPARAM_SCRIPTNAME%
    call "%HYPERION_HOME%\common\appServers\Tomcat\5.0.28\bin\startup.bat"
I checked my environment variables every thing is fine.
Where should i set the Tomcat class path to web client. or
it is due to another reason, if so what could be the solution.
    Thanks in advacnce

    Hello,
JohnGoodwin is correct you will need to create a Planning application and also generate your HspJSHome.properties and make sure it is in the right location to be picked up by the start up which should be something like:
    C:\Hyperion\HyperionPlanning\AppServer\InstalledApps\Tomcat\5.0.28\HyperionPlanning\webapps\HyperionPlanning\WEB-INF\classes
Also if you are starting the JVM as a service it might not have all the correct CLASSPATH information and if you have not already you might try starting the JVM using the startHyperionPlanning.bat file from the command line. Many times you will get better output from that when troubleshooting.

  • Smart View 9.3.1 error to connecting Hyperion Planning using Excel

    Hello Folks,
When I try to connect the Hyperion Planning 9.3.1 using Smart View 9.3.1 I had the following error "Client authorization is needed to accpet the certificate". I am using the URL connection with the following address http://server_name:8300/HyperionPlanning/SmartView.
    Regards,
    Wallace
    Brazil

    Venkat,
Based on our web session your production BEA license has not been installed and your production server is limiting the number of unique connections to five clients. Those first five clients who connected to the system.
As we proved in the web session Internet Explorer gets a 403 error and Firefox shows the root cause of the five license issue.
You may verify this by looking at the license.bea file on your servers and you will see it is an evaluation license. Being a licensed Hyperion customer entitles your company to use a restricted use WebLogic in a non-clustered environment. Below is the proper license.
The fix for this is to do the following:
    1) Download a license code from Oracle
    2) Go to http://licensecodes.oracle.com/bea.html
    3) Download LIC-WLXB92
    4) On your server(s) backup <BEA_DIRECTORY>\license.bea
    5) Copy text file within the LIC-WLXB92 over the license.bea file
    6) Restart your Hyperion Services

  • Error Log in Hyperion Planning

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me where i can locate error log for Hyperion? I'm getting an error that 'Data form is invalid' when i try to access any data form created in planning. Version 9.3.0.1

    Hi,
You didn't say which web server you are using, if it is tomcat the location will be something like
    \Hyperion\Planning\AppServer\InstalledApps\Tomcat\5.0.28\HyperionPlanning\logs
Though saying that I don't think the logging is that brilliant with planning and tomcat.
    Cheers

  • Hyperion planning - match variable from BR with page on form

    Hi gurus,
I have a problem with matching variable which I create in business rule to page filter on my form. I want to make business rules that use member which I choose from page in form. I create RTP variable but that is not what I need because when I pick RTP attribute for my variable then on call Business rules I need to choose member again.
    Thanks

You can use hide prompt in Business Rule properties (when you add the rule to form). See if that works, else you'll have to hide it in Calc Manager itself.

  • Loading Planning attribute dimension alternate hierarchies with ODI

Does anyone know how to load an attribute dimension alternate hierarchy via an ODI interface? I'm assuming that alternate hierarchies are allowed in attribute dimensions?
Edited by: jayfin on Mar 28, 2011 5:59 PM

If you are talking about created a shared hieararchy then no this is not possible as you shouldn't be able to do it in planning.
If it is just another hierarchy in your attribute dimension then you should be able to load parent/child members to build it using ODI.
    Cheers

hyperion.planning.DuplicateUserException: Another user with the name hypadmin already exists.
com.hyperion.planning.HspRuntimeException: Failed to sync with user provisioning.
    any ideas ?
I have tried updating the sid value in HSP_USERS table with the old values -- no luck.
    Please help.

Sounds like you have not done the migration correctly.
I take it hypadmin is the application owner and a native user.
If so you should store the correct native sid on your test environment.
Have a look at a working planning app on your test environment, go into the relational tables
look at table HSP_USERS and store the sid for id 50001
Update the other planning app in your test environment with the correct stored sid in the same table.
    Restart planning.
Also run the updateusers utility in the planning bin/utiliites directory.
Its much easier if you create planning applications with the default admin account as the sid stays the same across environments.
    Cheers

  • KM for File to Hyperion Planning

    All,
I am trying to load a file to a Hyperion Planning application.
I have successfully reverse engineered the planning application, to a planning data model.
I am now loading back the Entity Data store (from the reverse engineered Planning data model), to a different planning application with the top level members/dimensions created.
I have imported the Integration KM (IKM File to Hyperion Planning), in the integration project.
I am using a file exported from DRM as a source, and have a File Data server, related topology and a data store created for it.
I have created an interface, and done the below:
    - Selected the option "Staging Area Different from Target"
    - Selected the File Logical schema I created as part of the topology for the File source.
    - I have mapped all source columns to target ones, the target has more columns than the source, but I have un checked the "Active Mapping" box on the unmapped target columns.
    - On the Flow tab, I have selected the IKM "IKM File to Hyperion Planning" on the target.
    - No CKM imported or selected on the "Controls" tab.
When I execute, nothing gets updated or inserted or deleted.
I am not sure what the problem is, can anyone tell me what I may be doing wrong, or where I should start looking for clues.
    THanks,
    ANindyo

    John,
The execution shows successful in the Operator, no errors.
But it looks like nothing was inserted, and thats why there were no errors.
I have enabled logs for the environment, tools->preferences and Environment->Logs, but no logs get generated there.
Were you referring to the same thing?
    Thanks,
    Anindyo
