Error selecting CLOB data from Oracle DB

I am using CRXI with an Oracle 10g database.
Recently, some columns were changed from Data Type LONG to CLOB. Now, I get 2 error messages when trying to select any of these columns: 'Failed to retrieve data from the database' and 'Database connector error: cannot obtain error message from server'.
I am using the Microsoft ODBC for Oracle. Is there some other ODBC which can select this data type?

MS's ODBC driver for Oracle only supports Oracle 7, it's noted on MS's MSDN site.
Use Oracles ODBC Driver or Data Direct that ships with CR.

Unable to retrieve CLOB data from oracle

hello I am trying to retreive a clob data from database. I am passing "country" to get "information". after submitting data it is showing SQLException caught: General error .

I configure successfully the physical and logical Hyperion essbase on Topology Manager, and got the ESSBASE structure of BASIC app DEMO.
The problem is.
1. When I try view data right click on the essbase table,

Hi ethan.....
U always need a driver to be present inside ur <ODI installation directory>\drivers folder.....for both the target and the source......Because ojdbc14.jar is the driver for oracle already present inside the drivers folder ....we don't have to do anything for it.....But for Essbase ...you need a driver......If u haven't already done this.....try this.....

Loading BLOB / CLOB data from oracle source to oracle target

Hello Friends,
Source and Taret DB are Oracle 11g.
I am havnig CLOB and BLOB source columns and I am linking these links to CLOB/BLOB cloumns of Target .
but the image of source ( BLOB ) is not got loaded and when I tried to view the Image - It shows *'IMAGE COULD NOT BE DECODED FROM BINARY STREAM '.*
For BLOB Coulmn - the is what i am using for target - NVL(WRK_IMAGE.IMAGE_DATA, EMPTY_BLOB())
For CLOB Column - NVL(WRK_CALLOUT_V.CALLOUT.getClobVal(), EMPTY_CLOB()) -
For CLOB i don't have any issue - but for BLOB I could not able to see the blob image .
Appreciate if you can let me know where the issue is .

How to select CLOB data

I am using PHP4.4 and Oracle 10g for my research work. I defined 'protein_seq' field as CLOB in a table. I uploaded data into it using sqlloader.
Now, I want to display the value of that field based on user requirements. When i did like this, I am getting 'Object' as value instead of original value.

Thanks.This is an error from SQL Server being passed back to Oracle so you can see the problem.
What it is saying is that you are trying to insert (or update) data to a database view and that view contains a column that is either a constant (literal) value or is derived (a calculation, formula or string concatenation etc.).
As such, you can't insert or update data on that column because it has nowhere to go on the database table(s) that underly the view.

Since there isn't a specific DBASE IV gateway, though, I believe you'll have to use the ODBC gateway, which would probably imply the necessity of a Windows box hosting Heterogenous Services.

I am selecting 'First name' from oracle table directly using native sql. I am fetching 65000 records but 10+ records having '#' at the end of firstname. For eg: John#.
But oracle team couldn't find '#' in their table for those records. What could be problem?
or what could be the character in oracle which comes as '#' in abap?

yes...I got the mistake which i was doing.Actually the target file data type should be string and I was defined it diffrent for each column.
When I chnged the data type to string,data get loaded to target table.

Hi,
I found the problem.It was because of the connection string.The format was different for oracle tables.
PFB the format
*cnss.open"Provider=OraOLEDB.Oracle.1;Data Source= servername:port/SID;Database= DB;User Id=aaaa;Password=aaaa;"*
