Error starting ORMI server, when run oc4j.cmd -start

hello oracle guru,
i just finish installing the Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher Standalone 10.1.3.4 in Window XP Home Edition SP3 platform..
but when i want to start the BI Publisher, by running the oc4j, i get this errors

i'm using the Oracle 10g AS (9.0.4) on RedHat Linux 3.0 Advanced Server.
I've formatted my machine, installed redhat and then 10g AS. There are no other softwares installed on my machine.
After installation, I've created an Instace of OC4J server using IAS console, started the instance and got a message saying my instance has been started. But when i look at the log file in %ORACLE_HOME%/opmn/logs i got a message saying "Error starting ORMI-Server. Unable to bind socket: Address already in use".
I've searched this forum for this and did all the kinds of modifications suggested by others and found no success. U said that u've tried other way and found the solution. Could you please help me out with the solution. I've tried stopping the default server instance being created at the time of 10 gAS installation. When i looked at the ports in use for the application server, its listing different ports for JMS, RMI and AJP but the same port for Oracle HTTP Server as 7778.
P.S.: this is not only for sateesh, but for any one who could help me out with the solution.
Please help me ASAP as its urgent for me and I've spent last 5 days for this.
Any kind of help regarding this would be highly appreciated.

Error starting ORMI-Server. Unable to bind socket...

One of our BPEL App Servers was moved from a local network to a LAN. I believe it's IP was changed. When we start it with opmnctl startall we get the following error message:
bq. Error starting ORMI-Server. Unable to bind socket: Cannot assign requested address
There does not seem to be a resource issue with regard to ports. A netstat -p doesn't show any potential port conflicts. In a WEB search I came across the following suggested check:
bq. Solution: \\ *A) Check if your IP address or hostname is changed or if there is a conflict of resources in the network*
Can someone explain what needs to be fixed if the IP Address or hostname of the BPEL App Server has changed? What files need to be corrected to get the install to startup.

I run the folowing command "start_oc4j.bat" to start Oc4j.
It starts successfully.
Then I start "BPEL PM Server".
I get the following error,
"Error starting ORMI-Server. Unable to bind socket: Address already in use: JVM_Bind".
I understand the above errror because both of them are trying to bind to the same port. And both of them are trying to start ORMI server. Can some one suggest how to get rid of this problem.
I tried giving different port numbers for them, but that did not work. Let me know, how to over come this problem.

Hi,
I get the following error whenever I start my Application Server on Linux machine.
If I deploy the EJB application onto a OC4J instance, the server is refusing the connection by throwing Connection Refused error.
Any insight about this issue will be helpful.

Hi Avi,
of course you are right that the standalone OC4J ist not the same as an OC4J instance within the Oracle Application Server though from my point of view many J2EE-Server related questions or problems regarding the EJB- and or WEB-container could be answered/handled same or equally.
That's why I'm a little bit irritated by your statement. From a forum user's perspective I'd hate it to follow eg all those Forms and Reports service discussions if I were a Java Developer or Deployer. So I would like to see all posts regarding the OC4J-Container here (no matter if standalone or inside OAS). Nevertheless everybody should clearly indicate the exact product version including the distinction beetween standalone and OAS.
Just my 0.2 about this. What do others think?
Avi, if you really want all discussion about OAS including OC4J topics to happen within the "Application Server - General" forum, I'd suggest you add a forum description which makes that clear.
Well, if one can persuade you to not follow such a strict separation as I argued against, it could be still beneficial to add a meaningful forum description (eg. to remind people of the distinction between standalone OC4J and OAS.

Using TestStand 2.0.1f1

I was trying out the example in the Resource Library - TestStand | Process Models | Running Selected Steps via Execution Entry Point -Test UUTs or Single Pass
(link http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/niepd_web_display.display_epd4?p_guid=B45EACE3E2B756A4E034080020E74861&p_node=DZ52222&p_source=external ). This example is a 1.0.1 example but the web page does say that it should work in 2.0.x
I followed the readme file to use from "Execute" menu:
I have attached the resulant SequentialModel.seq file.
The modifications to the SequentialModel.seq file appears to wo
rk, but when I tried to run 'Run Selected Steps Using' menu item. I got the error message -17300 displayed. (see ErrorScr.bmp attached). The only way to close the execution was to launch Task manager and 'End Task'.
I have attached a small demo sequencefile.
To try example:
Move the SequentialModel.seq to 'C:\TestStand\Components\User\Models\TestStandModels'.
Launch TestStand Sequence Editor and open 'Debug Example1.seq'.
This is how to generate error condition-
1. Run the sequence file from menu Item Execute | Single Pass. You should get a full run with test result, it fails but that doesn't matter.
2. Select Steps 1 and 3 in Main of MainSequence. Run Selected Steps using Single Pass. Again sequence executes correctly.
3. Now run the same selected steps using the new menu item Execute | Selected Test(s). Again the sequence executes again.
4. With Steps 1 and 3 still selected. Run Selected Steps using Single Pass (as in 2 above). This time the error -17300 will be gener
ated.
I also tried running the sequence first doing step 1 (as above), then step 3, then repeating step 1 and this was ok. So the problem appears to be in interactive only.
Any clues as to whats going on and how to resolve it.

Attached is a SequentialModel.seq that will run selected steps in a new execution using the process model. (It started life based on the inital
demo example)
When either Test UUT's or Single Pass is selected a check is made to determine if there is an initial selection.
If there isn't then the normal Test UUT's or Single Pass sequence is run.
If there is then a new sequence file is created with a new MainSequence. The selected steps are cloned and inserted to the new MainSequence. Also
the Setup and Cleanup groups are also cloned. Likewise the FileGlobal Defaults are copied to the FileGlobals of the new Sequencefile and also the
Locals.
Any Sequences contained in the SequenceFile are cloned to the new sequencefile (except the MainSequence, SequenceFileLoad and SequenceFileUnLoad).
In addition, as the Steps are cloned any break point are also set in the new sequence file.
The new sequence file is executed in a new execution using the process model entry point with the break on first step controlled from the menu
option.
One thing I am assuming is that there is only one element in the RunState.InitialSelection.SelectedSequences array.
Question: Under what circumstances will there be more than one selected sequence?
I had one problem, I tried my SequentialModel.seq with the demo auto.seq. This contains the SequenceFileLoad and SequenceFileUnload.
When I run this demo with a few steps selected, it run ok but when I closed the results window the UnloadFile callback was executed.
I found an option that can be set with the Engine.ReleaseSequenceFileEx which should have stopped the UnloadFile callback from running. But it
made no difference.
I then came across SequenceFile.UnloadCallbackEnabled() and using this function it did disable the Unload callback and this worked.
Question: So, Why didn't setting the Option in the Engine.ReleaseSequenceFileEx work?
Limitation using this SequentialModel.seq,
1) Any precondition to a step's execution based on the result of an early steps are not check when cloning the selected steps. Therefore this has
to be done manually when making the selection.
2) All Sequences in the SequenceFile are cloned to the new sequencfile. (May not be a problem when SequenceFile contains only a few sequences.)
3) The selections are limited to the MainSequence. If steps are selected in a Subsequence then these would be copied to a new MainSequence and
this would be run. Providing this doesn't require any parameters passed from the original caller then this should still run. The problem will
arise if parameters are required.
4) This is not really a limitation - If a full run of the SequenceFile using Test UUT's or Single Pass is required then the user must ensure no
steps are selected.
What I whould like to happen is the ability to make a selection in SubSequence calls either one or two levels down from the MainSequence. The new
execution setup would contain those steps in the MainSequence that are required to call those selected steps in the lower levels.
Would welcome any comments on my SequentialModel.seq attached and answers to my questions.

AutoConfig failes when running adgendbc.cmd

I get this error when running adautocfg.cmd on one of me three servers;

Search for "adgendbc.cmd" in the adconfig.log for more precise error messages..
Try querying for those errors in metalink and i'm sure you'll have a hit on the issue.

HP M8300f fails to start, shuts down when running

I have to frequently use system restore because it fails to start properly.      When running, it frequently shuts down (blue or black screen).    From what I have learned researching on the net, there is a known issue with the motherboard on this computer.
I purchased two HP laptops that have also failed before their time. Apparently a known issue with overheating.    I wish I had known before I bought them.    They both failed a year ago.     Now the desktop is failing.

The same problem to me. In just over a year, mine started with these freezing problems. After many tries with customer support, none of which provided me with a clue I gave up.Then I found the motherboard's capacitors were kind of bulged. Bad quality boards I guess.

If it's new and you don't have anything on it yet, you can reinstall the OS from scratch. You don't say what OS or model, but try booting while holding down the Command and R keys. If you get the recovery partition, use Disk Utility to reformat the disk then reinstall.
This will wipe out everything on the drive though.

This is not an issue with Firefox, your message actually confirms this by the error you listed. "There was an error on the server" Firefox is only an internet browser basically, the connection to the internet & such local configuration is outside external from Firefox, the server is on the host side of the connection. It sounds like you have a bad connection between the server & your computer which Firefox has nothing to do with, rather it is your local network. I would actually check out Windows 7 VPN support, you need to setup a virtual private network VPN which is basically a secure connection stable enough to support the bandwidth required to facilitate the meeting.
This is why you are also having the problem with Internet Explorer as you need to correctly configure a VPN connection via windows if your connection supports it.

STARTING ORMI Server

How do I start the ORMI Server?
I trying to deploy an application using the em console. I don't get any error.. I looked at the forum and found that if we deploy using the command line utilitty, I may get some trace..
So can anybody help me in starting the ORMI in both standalone and managed modes

The ORMI listener is an implicit part of OC4J.
When you start OC4J, the ORMI listener is started.
What exactly are you wanting to do?

Hi, I'm developing some reports using Crystal XI on my local PC, using an Oracle 10i back end on a separate server. The SQL for the report is in a method in an oracle package.
When I set the datasource location, selecting 'Oracle Server' then entering the details works fine, and the report runs. However, when I try to use an ODBC connection I get the following error:
Database Connection Error: 'Cannot obtain error message from server.'
The ODBC link is set up as a System DSN, which works fine when I test it. I think I need to use ODBC as some of the reports (which I inherited) seem to fail when run on the Crystal Server, and it seeme to be the ones set up with ODBC which work.
Any thoughts? Thanks.

Hi Mars-
It sounds like your NI-DAQ installation may have become corrupted. I would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the DAQmx 7.4 driver to correct this problem and ensure that you're up to date. This download is available here: NI-DAQ 7.4
If the problem persists you may want to uninstall and reinstall LabVIEW and then NI-DAQ in that order. The error message will usually give an indication as to which VI the error occurred in. Please let us know which VI is failing if you're unable to avoid the error with these suggestions.
