Error trap on extraneous script parameters
I have a script that accepts named parameters at the command line, and I would like to error trap any extraneous parameters, rather than having a malformed shortcut cause an error. I tried just wrapping the Param section at the top of the script in a Try/Catch
but that doesn't work at all. Is there any mechanism to address this more gracefully, or do i just need to document proper argument syntax and let users see the error if they mess it up?
Note, I used Try/Catch with and without cmdletbinding, and with camdletbinding in and out of the Try. Some variations caused errors, and some caused all parameters to be ignored, even the ones that where correctly being passed.

So, basically what I want to do is have two named parameters, one required and one optional, and then catch the error when someone includes a third, or gets a name wrong. It seems like there is no way to catch that, you are just going to get a standard
PowerShell error. Not the end of the world, but like not being able to natively run a powershell script with no console at all, a little annoying, if in fact it can't be done.
It sounds like this is what you want (as far as the 1 mandatory and 1 option params go):
Function Test {
[cmdletbinding()]
Param (
[parameter(Mandatory=$True)]
[string]$Param1,
[parameter()]
[string]$Param1
#CODE HERE
Unfortunately, you will not be able to get around the issue of someone attempting to use a 3rd parameter and having an error thrown. This will happen at runtime and can't be caught.

Web Browser "An error occured in the script on this page'
Hi,
I try to use a Web applic through std SBO Web Browser window. However I get this message: "An error occured in the script on this page'.
Why do I get this message? (I don't get it through other explorers)
Is there a way to change browser parameters? Does SBO uses IE?
BR,
VangelisThe default is IE. Not everything that works on IE works through web application. Many open source web standards do not play well with IE. Try IE 8 or higher.

Error 1030001 in MAXL Script "BuildDimFile"
I have a MAXL script that successfully builds two of my dimensions using the SQL interface from Oracle. What's strange is, even though the script works, mid-way through MAXL log file, the following error appears: 9 - Essbase error encountered: [BuildDimFile:'test'] [1030001]. Then at the end of the file, it states: 51 - MaxL execution failed. The line in the script:import database '_test'.'_TESTKKU' dimensions connect as 'test' identified by 'test' using server rules_file 'D_Region' on error write to 'D_Region.err';Anyone have any idea why MAXL is reporting failure, when the script is actually working?
I've used the error handling in MAXL and have found that it gets bettter with every release. It still doesn't trap all errors, but it does catch most fatal errors.<BR><BR>You will want to test it in the particular script that you are using to ensure it does the job you need. When MAXL first came out, the error trapping was much less effective than with ESSCMD. Now we're working with 7.1.3 and find that it catches the things we really need to catch.<BR>

Read Scripting Parameters within a Filter
Hello,
I'd like to have a Plug In which can read Scripting Parameters and run accordignly.
One of the code samples in the SDK is called "PoorMansTypeTool".
In its documentation it is said to be able to "Read scripting parameters".
I look into its code yet I couldn't figure how it does it.
Let's say I have a script with a variable 'a'.
The script launches a filter from the filter lists and want to pass the valu of the parameter 'a' to the filter.
How could that be done?
Are there any constraints on the parameter type, size, etc?
Has anyone tried it before?
If someone could guide me through the plug in code I'd be happy.
Thank You.// make this a function so we can hide these from harness script

I have some scripts in the repository that I'm trying to use to build an applications data from. Some include parameters in the where clause of the insert statements such as:
d.date_due_at_dock_rev >= to_date(:P1_START_DATE,'DD-MON-YY') and
I keep getting ORA-00904 and ORA-00911 errors when I set the parameters on the parameter page when I try to run them.
I've checked the manual (chapt 5) and tried using &P1_START_DATE and also #P1_START_DATE# with no luck.
What is the correct syntax for this???
Greg>
Ok..
But , is there another way to send a script to
DataBase ? Maybe another class that provide to set
parameter value by name.I'm almost certain there's not in the core API. You might find something from a 3rd party if you're good with google.
But what are you really trying to do? Why do you need to do it by name?
Depending on your ultimate goal, you might want to look at an object-relational bridge tool such as [url http://www.hibernate.org]Hibernate. -

The exactly erro refers to a problems when you try upgrade from these version to 11.5.10.
Can you read this note and apply solution? The note refers a patch, but the problem is the same.

RFC Connection error - Invalid length. Check parameters.
Hi Forum, Good Morning!
My ABAP Program will run in BACK Ground Job Processing(SM37) to download data to Presentation server( Local PC Directory). So I have created a RFC destination type TCP/IP to use 'RFC_REMOTE_FILE' function module in my ABAP Program.
When I am trying to test RFC connection It is giving following error.
ERROR Invalid length. Check parameters
LOCATION SAP- Server dsapp05_R3D_10 on host dsapp05 (wp 2)
COMPONENT CPIC
COUNTER 14
MODULE

RETURN CODE 240

RELEASE 640
TIME Mon Dec 11 10:08:05 2006
I did following procedure before I test RFC destination..
I have created RFC Destination : BJRFC
Technical Settings: Selected Registered Server Program radio button
Program ID: BJACCESS
Gateway host : 172.22.149.199
gateway Service: sapdp10
In my local machine Copied SAPRFC.INI file from the TEXT folder to the BIN Folder.
Then open the SAPRFC.INI file in BIN folder and Register a RFC server program at a SAP Gateway.
DEST=R3D_R
TYPE=R
PROGID=BJACCESS.rfcexec
GWHOST=172.22.149.199
GWSERV=sapdp10
RFC_TRACE=0
DEST=R3D_R
TYPE=R
PROGID=BJACCESS.trfcexec
GWHOST=172.22.149.199
GWSERV=sapdp10
RFC_TRACE=0
Then entered below command in dos prompt.
C:\Program Files\SAP\FrontEnd\SAPgui\rfcsdk\bin>rfcexec -aBJACCESS 172.22.149.199 xsapdp10.
so how do i proceed in this kind of case.
any help please.
Thanks in advance.Hi,
Just you check whether your program is registered or not.
If it is registered then you can find in SMGW transaction and go to
GOTO - Logged on clients
in that you will be able to see your program name if it registers succesfully.
you have typed rfcexec -aBJACCESS 172.22.149.199 xsapdp10
in this way.
In this you have misseg 'g' in front of your sap ip.
Thanks&Regards

I count on using the Firefox restore session feature. But it's stopped working. For the past couple of days, it hasn't worked a single time. (I haven't changed anything on my PC.) It just suddenly stopped working.
Now it gives me an error message that the script has stopped working. It gives me a couple of options. I'm not sure of the exact wording, but one option is to stop the script and the other is to keep trying. But the keep trying never works.
I have to stop the script, hence, the list with my previous tabs never comes up.Which file is mentioned as the cause of that script error?<br />
Is that a file with a chrome protocol? -
Error message: "Warning: unresponsive script". Afterward, the system freezes and will then crash. Crash reports have been submitted many, many times without response. I have tried the fore-mentioned solutions with either no results or very bad results which I filed a report but did not receive an answer. The application to block scripts actually worsened the problem and I could not correct the situation for a while (no response from Firefox, at all). I have also been through this procedure without any one contacting me, AT ALL.

We may as well try another system, if they can't be bothered to provide any support for their system, we can't be bothered to use their system.

Error while running OMBPlus Script
Hi,
I am getting below error while running OMBPlus script.
+../../../jdk/bin/java[87]: getconf: not found+
OMB*Plus: Release 9.2.0.4.0
Copyright (c) 2003 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.
Exception in thread "main"
I am not even able to run ./OMBPlus.sh.
Can anyone help me on this?
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Sachin BansalHi Nawneet,
Thanks for the reply..
I tried the same thing on our server. But there also I am getting the same error.
Am I missing anything?
What I am doing is:
1. Created one .tcl file (deploy_map.tcl).
2. Going to path where OMBPlus.sh resides i.e.$OWB_HOME/bin/unix
3.Then I called ./OMBPlus.sh and passed the path of deploy_map.tcl as an argument.
For e.g. if path of deploy_map.tcl is /abc/xyz/deploy_map.tcl
Then I would call OMBPlus like below:
./OMBPlus.sh /abc/xyz/deploy_map.tcl
Even if I would not pass any argument then still it should be connected to OMBPlus. But that's not happening.

Hello
I have set up the Demo appliance landscape for the openSAP course "Introduction to SAP Fiori UX", on AWS.
The frontend machine is OK, but the configuration and startup of the server machine has failed for some reason. When logging in with ssh to the server, this message is presented:
The Appliance Agent detected an error and terminated.
When asked, please provide the file /tmp/applianceagent_20141002-145658.tar.bz2.
Note that a restrictive iptables based firewall is still active.
I have attached the file (had to add .txt to the name to circumvent file type restrictions).
I noticed that the appliancedeploy.log ended with these lines:
Start database Execute /usr/sap/hostctrl/exe/sapcontrol -nr 02 -function StartWait 3600 20
02.10.2014 13:56:58
Start
OK
02.10.2014 14:56:58
StartWait
FAIL: Timeout
error in /tmp/applianceagent/scripts/Database.sh: Start database failed with exit code 2
Notice the 1 hour jump in time, and then the timeout error message.
Do any of you have any idea what could be causing this, and how to fix it?
Please let me know if you need any further information.
Best regards,
BoHi Hannes.
Trying to create and activate a new instance (version 5 of the Fiori appliance), I first got this message in the CAL instance overview list:
Instance Operation Failed
Operation Start failed on step Start start VAs with message: Start failed for VM SAP Server due to Amazon Web Services issue : AMAZON : The snapshot 'snap-c779ff64' does not exist.
Then I terminated the instance and tried over again. And this time the deployment worked - I have a running server, which responds to the SAP GUI, and shows the Fiori web page.
Thanks a lot for your quick help.
Best regards,
Bo
