Error: uncaught servlet exception

Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone had any idea as to why I am getting the below error when attempting to access a (or any!) servlet via HTTP/URL. (An example of such a method is in Oracle9i XML Database Developer's Guide - Chapter 20: Writing Oracle XML DB Applications in Java)
In the browser I get an 'internal 500 error' and checking the DB trace file, this is the message displayed:
========================================
*** 2003-10-16 11:52:44.000
*** SESSION ID:(17.15311) 2003-10-16 11:52:44.000

at oracle.xdb.servlet.XDBServletContainer.initServlet(XDBServletContainer.java:67)
at oracle.xdb.servlet.XDBServletContainer.handleRequest(XDBServletContainer.java:87)
========================================
I have searched EVERYWHERE for info on this error but have come up with nothing.
Here is an example of a servlet I've been trying to access:
package oracle.otnsamples;
import javax.servlet.http.*;
import javax.servlet.*;
import java.io.*;
public class testserv extends HttpServlet
protected void doGet(HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse resp)
throws ServletException, IOException
ServletOutputStream sos = resp.getOutputStream();
sos.println("Testing servlet invocation");
sos.close();
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am desperate!!
Thanks in advance,
Ari

There's a bug with this at the moment. There may be a workaround, I'm checking with Development. In the mean time can you open an iTar with Oracle Support to we can ensure that you are notified when this gets fixed. What platform are you running the database on. PLease post the itar number here once it's open

  • ContactList_UpdateInsert returning Fatal error: Uncaught SoapFault exception

    I am creating a script to capture our customers email and then generate a password after they place an order.  This will then be placed into the BC crm along with an external database to create an account on another system.  I have everything working up to the point of inserting a new password for the user.  Considering I have multiple calls using this same structure that are working correctly such as Case_Retreive and Contact_RetreiveByEntityID, I am a bit confused by the error.
    Everytime I try to call the ContactList_UpdateInsert I am getting this error:
    Fatal error: Uncaught SoapFault exception: [soap:Server] Server was unable to process request. ---> ERROR: A server error has occured. in /home/content/28/9663728/html/clientList.php:71 Stack trace: #0 /home/content/28/9663728/html/clientList.php(71): SoapClient->__soapCall('ContactList_Upd...', Array) #1 {main} thrown in /home/content/28/9663728/html/clientList.php on line 71
    My code snippet:
    $passArray = array(
         'username' => 'myadminusername',
         'password' => 'myadminpassword',
         'siteId' => '123456',
         'externalId' => '555555');
    $client = new SoapClient('https://coburncreative02.worldsecuresystems.com/catalystwebservice/catalystcrmwebservice.a smx?WSDL');
    $passResult = $client->__soapCall('ContactList_UpdateInsert', array('parameters' => $passArray));
    My next question is how you go about (with php) to insert a variable into the password field of the crm. My guess is something like this:
    $passResult[password] = 'newpass';

    Hi Anton,
    I tried your second suggestions & it was fruitful. It gave me the clue to the problem,
    <i>$wsdlfile = "myfile.wsdl";
    $client = new SoapClient($wsdlurl, array($wdslfile, ...)</i>

    <%
         String dateSuffix = (String)session.getAttribute(
              VSRMPresentationLayerConstants.FILE_NAME);
         String attributeName = (String)session.getAttribute(
              VSRMPresentationLayerConstants.GROUP_NAME);
         String path = request.getContextPath()+"/exportGroupMembers.file?fileName="+
    ManagerConstants.GROUP_REPORT_FILE_LOCATION+attributeName+"_"+dateSuffix+"&download=group&display="+attributeName+"_"+dateSuffix;
    %>

    Most probably it is a null pointer exception.
    Most things that have "null" for an error message are.
    As to what is null, that is anyones guess, but most probably one of the session attributes.
    I'm against scriptlets in JSPs as a matter of course, but this may help a little:
    <%
    try {
      String dateSuffix = (String)session.getAttribute(VSRMPresentationLayerConstants.FILE_NAME);
      String attributeName = (String)session.getAttribute(VSRMPresentationLayerConstants.GROUP_NAME);
      String path = request.getContextPath()+"/exportGroupMembers.file?fileName="+ManagerConstants.GROUP_REPORT_FILE_LOCATION+attributeName+"_"+dateSuffix+"&download=group&display="+attributeName+"_"+dateSuffix;
    catch (Throwable t){
      System.err.println("The error is " + e.getMessage());
      e.printStackTrace();
      throw e;
    %>It should at least give you an indication of what the error is, and where it is approximately in your JSP.

    I already have the latest version of Javascript, I am running IE 6.0 on Windows XP so I have no idea what is causing the error and I would greatly appreciate your help if possible. My webserver is reputable and configured correctly since it is running on iPowerWeb and the correct versions of PHP, MySQL, etc.
    Thanks in advance for your help and I am looking forward to your replies!

    Ryan,
    This looks like a permission problem (even though its free, some kind of authentication might be there). You can contact the site administrator.

  • After merging to HDR Pro, get Error 54: Uncaught Javascript exception:  Error

    I'm trying to create a HDR image.  Once the images are merged, asked to complete toning in ACR at 32 bit.  OK results in Error 54: Uncaught Javascript exception:  Error #.  Line 182 throw error.  I've tried changing to 16 bit.  Neither option allows me to just save.  Any ideas?

    Perhaps there is a data error.  Check your table admin_tab to see what values are being stored there in production.  You're getting an error due to an unexpected value in admin_tab_line-kind.  If you can't easily get to the data in the table, try debugging your program by placing a break point in the code just before your CASE statement.  Then when it hits that break point, check the values in admin_tab.  I hope this helps.

  • Servlet error: Security sensitive exception occured. , where is log files?

    thank you for reading my post
    i get this message , where should i look for log files ?
    Servlet error: Security sensitive exception occured. Please consult application log for details.

    I ran into this just myself last week.
    We used to show the Exception type and a stacktrace in the browser as the default error message.
    In 10.1.3.1 we've modified it so that the details of the application (ie the stack trace and exception) are output by default.
    Avi indicated the correct log file to look at.
    If you do want to revert to the old behaviour for development time, then you can do so by setting the attribute development="true" in the orion-web.xml file of the deployed application.
    <orion-web-app .... development="true"/>
    cheers

  • "ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception

    Dear Oracle:
    I am trying to establish an HTTPS connection from a Java stored
    procedure that is wrapped in a PL/SQL procedure and loaded into a
    Package. We are running on Oracle 8.1.7.
    My Java code compiles and runs fine when run stand-alone outside
    Oracle; I can establish the connection to a secure server and talk to
    the server. However when I load this Java class (using the loadjava
    utility) this class can no longer run and I get a the following
    exception:
    "ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception:
    javax.net.ssl.SSLException: SSL handshake failed:
    X509CertChainIncompleteErr"
    I have tried loading the JSSE from Sun and I still get the same error.
    Searching in the Discussing Forums I found the following link (which
    describes a procedure that logs into the UPS secure server site and
    grabs some XML) http://osi.oracle.com/~mbpierma/SSL_Java_DB.html .
    This code works ok if we try to connect to UPS server. However this
    code doesn't work if we try to log in to a different server (such as
    ???). If I modify this code slightly and try to log to any other
    sever server I get the same error as the one above. Investigation
    lead us to understand that the certificate at the UPS web site is a
    self-signed certificate -- not one generated by a major 'recognized'
    authority such as Verisign or Thawte.
    Further research pointed me to the following URL
    http://www.znow.com/sales/oracle/network.816/a76932/appf_ora.htm#619367
    This URL has the documentation for JAVA SSL for 8.1.6 which I figure
    I could read and try to make it work in 8.1.7.
    I looked at your Secure Hello World example, however the code is
    missing the most critical parts of the whole example, it does not
    specify where the certificate or any of the security settings come
    from (see the attached JavaCertExample.txt file).
    So, my questions are the following:
    1) What should I do to avoid the error mentioned above?
    2) Do you have a sample piece of code that describes how to make a
    HTTPS connection using a Java stored procedure?
    3) Can I make the HTTPS connection using a URL class and not using
    sockets directly?
    4) Do I need to load the JSEE provided by Sun?
    5) Will the solution be different for Oracle 9i?

    Hi,
    I have the same problem.
    Is some ORACLE guru that can help us ?
    We need to communicate with some servlet
    via POST method of https (SSL3)
    and with using private certificate on the client site.
    We need furthermore allow using of some proxy.
    Client site is realized as set of stored procedures within ORACLE 8.1.7
    In this time I am able to communicate with server without SSL and certificate
    using package utl_tcp
    (but with this solution without certificate is our customer not satisfied -:))
    ORACLE help us please !

  • Error propagating servlet user to peer?

    Hello,
    We currently have a Windows 2003 Server 32bit running ColdFusion 8.01 with 3 instances named: cfusion, Instance1 and Instance2. Instance 1 and Instance 2 are clustered together and serving all our sites in IIS. We're hosting just over 200 sites with approx. 6-7 hits a second.
    ColdFusion is running with all the latest hot fixes and patches. The JVM is version 1.6_24.
    For a while now one of the instances in the cluster randomly  locks up a few times a month, fails to return pages and has high cpu usage. We'd normally just restart the instance and things would return to normal. It's bad to ignore things but it's only recently I've had a chance to look into the cause of these lock ups.
    Last night both the instances appeared to fail. We have an external monitor that hits our sites every 5 minutes to ensure they are still running.
    Scanning through the JRun logs at about the time we received our first monitor warning there are a bunch of what appear to be propagation errors on both instances.
    Logs from Instance1:

        at java.lang.Thread.start(Thread.java:640)
    I suspect it's a JVM memory issue, however I have no way of extracting or creating memory logs without bringing all our sites down again.
    I only know the basics of how the JVM heap space works but my guess is that one of the instances can't create any more threads because the PermGen space has run out and it's killing the cluster.
    Here's our current JVM settings: java.args=-server -Xmx768m -Xms768m -Dsun.io.useCanonCaches=false -XX:MaxPermSize=192m -XX:+UseParallelGC -Dcoldfusion.fckupload=true -Dcoldfusion.rootDir={application.home}/
    Has anyone come across this issue before or has any ideas on how to better debug the issue with minimal impact on uptime?

    Well the classes should be in WEB-INF/classes, but I don't think that's your problem.
    Getting an applet to connect to a db is notoriously difficult (so I've heard - I've never tried it), so having the applet talk to the servlet with the servlet in turn talking to the db is a good idea.
    "i cant see the error message because it wont print in the VM,"
    That doesn't sound right. What does your error handling code look like?
    " MySQL it also has access permissions for some weird reason."
    MySQL is set up so that user credentials are only valid from a specific host unless you explicitly tell it that a user can connect from anywhere. This is native to MySQL and has nothing to do with java or JDBC.
    Most of the code you posted throws Exceptions. Are you catching them, and if so what did they say?
