Error using External Data Link

I just downloaded the trail of Visio Pro 2013 to test our the ability to reverse-enigineer my Data Warehouse db, running on postgres. After getting the ODBC connection configured and tested, I was given a list of the tables in the DB I connected to. First
of all it doesn't appear to let you pick all of the tables to bring into your drawing, so I gues it's 1 entity (table) at a time. I picked a table and then an an error occurred: Microsoft Visio cannot connect to this data source. Then there is an error code
80004005: Error relation stdw.public.dimcalendar does not exist. Not sure how it can't exist all of a sudden since I pick the table from the list Visio gave me after getting connected to the DB. I tried another table, same result. What happened and how can
I get this error to go away? Thanks.

v2013 does not support reverse-engineering, the feature was dropped.

    In regarding of the issue, please provide us more information to assist you better.
    Did this issue occur with other database program? Such as Access, SQL sever or other?
    If the Excel still crashes, I recommend we collect the Event log and App crash dump file to do further troubleshooting. You can try to analyze dump by

  • BPC 7.5NW External Data Links

    Hi All u2013
    This question is in regards to a BPC 7.5 NW (SP8) input schedule stored in BPC with externally linked MS Excel 2007 spreadsheets stored outside BPC.
    I have built an input schedule (which is stored in a team folder) and linked external excel spreadsheets into the schedule. My EVDRE is in Sheet1. Sheets2 u2013 5 contain the links to my non-BPC workbooks.
    My problem is that when I use the u201CSend and Refresh Schedulesu201D u2013 u201CActive worksheetu201D, multiple windows pop-up for updating the links in the non-active (external data linked) worksheets. Does anyone have a better way to link data external to BPC in a schedule or report? If not, is there a way to stop these pop-ups?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
    Can you try as follows:
    workbook options> Refresh Options> Check EVDRE : Refresh by Sheet.
    Hope it helps..
    regards,

  • How to use a data link file (UDL)

    Hi,
    several times I developed applications using Crystal Reports 2008 which used a data base on my development PC and when I deployed them on a production server I had the problem to change the Data Source Location to reflect the new Server name and SQL Server Instance. Moreover, this had to be done on the server, because CR 2008 check the new data source location when you change it, and because I was not connected to the server I couldn't do it on my development pc.
    I thought that the data link file was the solution to this problem, meaning that CR2008 could use a data link file (UDL file) as a data source location, so when deploying the reports on the server I had only to point the data link file to the new server instance.
    With my surprise, I have seen that when using a data link file to define the data source in CR 2008, it copies the definition found in it, instead of using it at run time. SO when I deploy the reports on the server I still have the same problem to change the data source location for all the reports.
    Perhaps I didn't understand the data link file use. So, how do I solve the problem of using a data source location that can be valid when deploying the reports on a server?
    Thanks

    Hi Antonio,
    Go to our download page above, there you will find samples to test with:

  • Using external data dictionaries

    Hi,
    here is my scenario: in the Account Detail Page the Address fields (County, Street, Zip Code) must be filled in from an external source. The user should access a link <Choose address> , a new window should open rendering the external data to choose from, and on closing the searching window the address fields shoud be filled with those selected by the user.
    How could this be accomplished? Is there any possibility to pass a value selected in the child window (a custom applet for extracting the external data) to the CoD Account Detail Page?
    What are the possibilities to make a custom lookup window with data extracted from an external database?
    Thank you for any idea,
    Simona

    Hi Simona,
    I think you are on the right track. There are a number of ways to accomplish what you want to do, given that you will need to build integration to complete the activity as defined in your email.
    You could make the addresses read-only in CRMOD and provide a custom Weblink that calls the external address application. The key would be that the external address application would need to use web services to attach the address to the account once a user selects it. You can pass parameters to the secondary application, via the weblink, so that the address application would have the information to attach the address once it is selected. The only "issue" that I could think of would be that users would need to refresh the page to see the address after they complete the selection in the external system.
    Another solution could be one where the address data is stored in another application altogether and the data is shown to users via a web app. In this scenario, the address data would not necessarily be integrated with CRMOD at all, but that would be a design decision. The complexity here is that you now have multiple applications and data stores for the data, and that data wouldn't be available within CRMOD (depending on design) for any CRMOD native functionality.
    Good luck and let us know what you decide to do.
    Thanks,
    Thom

  • Search for documents using External Data on list content type

    hi,
    say we have clients in an external database, we create the external content type for use in sharepoint 2013
    we create two content types, Quote and Order for use in a library
    we create a document library that uses the above content types
    we then add a column for the external data ( in this case Client Name- but also include ID) , we have the option to copy to content type selected. so now library shows 'Client' and 'Client:ID'
    I believe that column gets added to  list content types based on the 2 document content types.
    so we have list items , which have a document , a content type and a piece of data from the external LOB system.
    now that is fine, works great, however, how do you configure the content search web part to return documents based on the piece of external data - ie client:ID ? or Client Name ?
    I can map the client:ID to one of the Int00 managed properties and crawl etc - but do not see a way to use that to return documents
    any help would be appreciated :)
    thanks
    MrP

    Create a scopr with that in managed properies and then u can get results from  external sources

    As you can see, the query works sometimes and then if I wait about 5 minutes, I get the error. If I run the query immediately after the error, it works fine.
    rp_adm.users is a view which within the DDL it queries a remote database using a db link.
    Any one have any idea how to get rid of this ORA-02068 and ORA-03113 error????

  • UCCX 10 CUIC Custom Report (using external data source)

    Hi.
    We have a customer where we are storing information in an external data source. We would like to built a report and import that report into their UCCX CUIC System in order for the customer to have the new report along side with the UCCX built-in reports. We need to add the external data source to CUIC but I'm not sure if the strip CUIC version of UCCX can allow that. Is that possible?
    I know that with CUIC Premium we can add third party data sources into the CUIC. The Premium CUIC NFR allows that and we can create the report but for it to work in UCCX we need to add the external data source to CUIC.
    What are my options? If any?
    Thanks in advanced,
    -Jose

    Hi Jose,
    You can basically build custom reports on a standalone CUIC server and import them to the CUIC on UCCX.
    But I am not sure if this datasource is continuously polling information from the DB and giving it to the report and if this is possible.
    Please refer to the link below for creating the custom reports on CUIC in UCCX:

  • Linker error using extern with 2 libs

    Hi,
      I have written two libraries, both libraries need to share access to a variable, GblVal. So in one lib, when GblVal is changed, the other lib should also see this change.
    I have tried to achieve this through extern in the following setup:
    lib1:
    lib1.c:
    int GblSum;
    void Do(){
    GblSum=1;
    lib1.h:
    extern int GblSum;
    lib2.c:
    #include "lib1.h"
    void check(){
    printf("%d",GblSum);
    finally I have a main process that has both compiled libs
    main.c:
    Do();
    check();
    obviously my code doesn't actually do the above, but this is just the gist of what I'm trying to do. I'm fairly certain that I am setting my extern variable up right, however I can't compile lib2 due to:
    Undefined symbol "_GblNum" referenced in lib2.c
     what am I doing wrong? I have suspicions that this is a linker error but I'm not really sure how to fix it.
    thanks

    Static libraries (usual file extension .lib) are simply collections of compiled object files. To use functions and data contained in a static library in an application, the library must be specified as one of the input files to the application. At link time, the linker searches the library to resolve unsatisfied function and data references and extracts the object modules required to satisfy them.
    Dynamic Link Libraries (usual file extension .dll) are compiled and linked code modules (that is, they contain their own run-time support) that expose the addresses of particular functions (and, less often, data items) contained within the module. If an application uses functions from a dynamic link library, the DLL is also loaded when the application is run and the function/data addresses made known to the application. DLLs are most often used to share common code between applications, but because they are self-contained they are also a common way of building applications using different technologies (e.g. a CVI application can use a DLL built using Delphi or VC++).
    Normally, a DLL is associated with an import library which is linked in with the calling application. This import library resolves references to functions and data in the DLL used by the calling application by 'telling' the application which DLL the functions are in and how to find them in that DLL. Applications can also explicitly load DLLs at run-time if required.

  • Problem using external database link.

    Help:
    Here is th problem I am having. I have a workflow that reads and writes to external datasource using HS services. The workflow reads and then writes to the HS datasource in a function. After the function completes it needs to close the database link. You cannot close the database link until the commit happens, which you cannot do in a function or you get an error. This is a catch 22. Do you have any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    You could invoke your function as an autonomous transaction, and do a commit there. Not sure if that helps you close the database link or not.
    Alternatively, you could package the data to be transferred into a message on an AQ and propagate that data across the database link to the workflow system, and process it asynchronously.

  • SBL-DBC-00104 error using External Business Component

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to use a EBC for querying datas in the Export View. It works fine the most of the times but in some querys, it shows the error
    SBL-DBC-00104: Error retrieving next record from the database.
    ORA-24345: A Truncation or null fetch error ocurred
    Looking for the cause of these errors, I have discovered it ocurrs in a calculated field. This field has this calculated value
    [Accion Cargo Modificado por] + ' - ' + [Updated By]
    The problem of this is in [Accion Cargo Modificado por] value. In database, this field has the value "RED_DESARROLLORED_SUP" and, after looking for SBL-DBC-00104 in google, I thought that the reason could be the length of this value, too long, but the fields [Accion Cargo Modificado por] and [Updated By] have the same length that the fields in database. Any idea about how put a length limit in a calculated value? can it be wrong because is a EBC? (I haven't this error in a similar BC with the same fields)
    thanks in advance

    I have discovered the error. The text length in EBC had the same length that the fields in my table in database BUT the columns of that table in Siebel Tools hadn't the same length. That was why my EBC didn't work.

  • Error using SQL data in javascript vars

    I have a javascript routine which queries sqlite for a series
    of top-level categories, then, for each category, executes another
    query, using an item ID which is a result of the first query as
    follows:
    // Get first level of categories table
    var stmt = new air.SQLStatement();
    stmt.sqlConnection = conn;
    stmt.text = "SELECT * FROM categories WHERE childOf IS NULL
    ORDER BY Name";
    stmt.execute();
    var result = stmt.getResult();
    var numResults = result.data.length;
    for (i = 0; i < numResults; i++) {
    var item = result.data
    air.trace('Cat: '+item.Name);
    // Get sub-level categories
    var stmt2 = new air.SQLStatement();
    stmt2.sqlConnection = conn;
    stmt2.text = "SELECT * FROM categories WHERE childOf =
    :itemID";
    stmt2.parameters[":itemID"] = item.ID;
    stmt2.execute();
    var result2 = stmt2.getResult();
    var numResults2 = result2.data.length;
    for (j = 0; j < numResults2; j++) {
    var inner = result2.data[j];
    air.trace('Cat: '+item.Name);
    The problem is, when I try to assign the value of item.ID to
    the SQL parameter in the statement:
    stmt2.parameters[":itemID"] = item.ID;
    It outputs the error: "TypeError: Null value"
    I can print the value of item.ID to the screen, or write it
    to the terminal with air.trace and see the value fine, but when I
    try to assign it as an sql statement parameter, it gives the error.
    If I manually assign item.ID a value, the statements work
    fine. If I put a fixed value in instead of the variable
    substitution, it also works fine. Only when I try to use the result
    of the first SQL query in a second SQL query does it fail with this
    error.
    Can anybody please explain why ?

    Thanks for the suggestion jasowill, but unfortunately this
    doesn't fix the problem.
    I can assign the data to a temporary variable and then print
    that variable and everything LOOKS right, but again, it still can't
    be used as an sql parameter. I've also tried tactics such as
    subtracting zero from the value to convert the type from string to
    integer but again, no luck.
    What it comes down to is; the value of the variable looks
    fine when you print it to the screen or write it to the console
    with trace, but using it as an sql parameter gives a TypeError
    every time. It's as though the data is in some weird foreign type
    or something.
    In response to enorton, yes I am using:
    var item = result.data (square bracket) i (square bracket)
    but the forums are filtering this bit of the code out as I
    believe it is an italic code. As you can see, in the second
    variable assignment, it uses [j] in the same way as you would
    expect.
    Yes, the database is generated by AIR. I'm not at home so I
    don't have access to paste my create statements, but fwiw, the
    field in question is an INT. I know the SQL is not at fault though,
    as if I manually assign a value like so:
    stmt2.parameters[":itemID"] = 5;
    it works fine. Also, manually assigning a value to item.ID
    like so:
    item.ID = 5;
    stmt2.parameters[":itemID"] = item.ID;
    also works fine. It's only when the value of item.ID has been
    pulled from SQL prior does it generate this TypeError.
    Really appreciate the comments and assistance !
