Error when retrieving oracle clobs
Here's the sql statement that we are running:
SELECT dbms_lob.substr(sql_statement,dbms_lob.getlength(sql_statement),1) sql_statement FROM query
WHERE query_tk = [Param.1]
If the sql_statement is > 4000 chars, we are getting this error:
Fatal Error
A SQL Error has occurred on query, ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small ORA-06512: at line 1 .
We are seeing this outside of xmii as well.
Here's the background. We originally tried to do a normal insert to the clob (thru xmii) but we got errors when inserting values of more than 4000 chars. So, we inserted the clob differently (code used below). That's when we started getting this new error. Is there another way to insert/retrieve clobs?
--INSERT "base" row if it does not already exist.

SELECT query_tk
INTO v_dummy
FROM query
WHERE query_tk = p_query_tk;

-- get LOB handle
SELECT sql_statement
INTO v_lobloc
FROM query
WHERE query_tk = p_query_tk
FOR UPDATE;
dbms_lob.write(v_lobloc,v_copy_length,1,p_sql_statement);

We are getting the below errors when retrieving from huge smart view sheets for couple of our applications. We have increased the time out settings from the local registry, server registry, mod_wl_ohs file, Web logic console, http.conf, Essbase.properties. Also, increased the JVM from opmn.xml & setCustomParamsAnalyticProviderServices.bat. However we still face the error.
Note: this is an intermittent error and does not happen all the time.
Cannot connect to the provider. Make sure it is running in the specified host/port. Error(12152).
Cannot connect to the provider. Make sure it is running in the specified host/port. Error(12031).
Also, we are facing retrieval performance issues after we upgraded to 11.1.2.3.500 after we migrated from 11.1.1.3.500. Has anyone faced this issue? if so, any suggestions in improving the retrieval performance (especially with MDX member formulas in ASO applications) in 11.1.2.3.500 version?
Smart view version: 11.1.2.5.210Is there a load balancer being used?
Does the issue common on both Shared and Private connection?
Smartview client
A) add a essbase.cfg to the client machine in smartview\bin
the file will have 3 entries
NETDELAY 2000
NETRETRYCOUNT 2000
NETTCPCONNECTRETRYCOUNT 200
You can give it a try on a single client machine and check is the result is improved. -
ORA-00054 error when loading Oracle table using Data Services
Hello,
we are facing ORA-00054 error when loading Oracle table using BO Data services
(Oracle 10g database, BODS Xi 3.2 SP3)
Test Job performs
1- truncate table
2- load table (tested in standard and bulk load modes)
Scenario when issue happens is:
1- Run loading Job
2- Job end in error for any Oracle data base error
3- When re-running the same Job, Job fails with following error
ORA-00054: resource busy and acquire with NOWAIT specified
It seems after first failure, Oracle session for loading the table stays active and locks the table.
To be able to rerun the Job, we are forced need to kill Oracle session manually to be able to run the Job again.
Expected behaviour would be : on error rollback modifications made on table and BODS stops Oracle session in a clean way.
Can somebody tell me / or point me to any BODS best practice about Oracle error handling to prevent such case?
Thanks in advance
Paul-Mariethe ora-0054 can occure depending how the job failed before. If this occures you will need the DBA to release the lock on the table in question
Or
AL_Engine.exe on The server it creates the Lock. Need to Kill Them. Or stop it..
This Problem Occurs when we select The Bulkloading Option in orclae We also faced the same issue,Our admin has Killed the session. Then everything alright. -
I am receiving errors when installing Oracle Client 10.2.0.2.0 (Administrator) on zLinux. During the install I receive two notifications for File Not Found when the installer tries to create the link for lib32/libclntsh.so.10.1. I hit ignore on the pop-ups and the install completes. The Oracle Net Configuration Assistant then fails to launch with the following error:
Output generated from configuration assistant "Oracle Net Configuration Assistant":

Configuration assistant "Oracle Net Configuration Assistant" failed
The "/opt/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/cfgtoollogs/configToolFailedCommands" script contains all commands that failed, were skipped or were cancelled. This file may be used to run these configuration assistants outside of OUI. Note that you may have to update this script with passwords (if any) before executing the same.
I have seen multiple threads relating to very similar errors, but none of the fixes that were suggested have worked. I have double checked the required Red Hat packages and made sure they were all installed on the server. All of the prerequisite checks for the installer are successful. Any assistance would be of most helpful!Worked with my Linux system admin and figured out that we were indeed missing some packages. There are 390 and 390x rpm's for Red Hat on System Z, i.e. 64 bit and 32 bit versions. Since we are running a 64 bit os some of those 32 bit packages did not get installed. Since our roles are split up, I am kind of blind as to the OS setup so I was not able to catch the problem. It is truly puzzling as to why Oracle would need 32 bit packages even though Oracle client is 64 bit. Regardless, after adding the 32 bit rpm's the installer was able to perform the linking operation that was failing, and the network configuration script ran successfully.

Error when using Oracle Migration WorkBench (Sql Server 2k to Oracle 8i)
I'm trying to migrate a Sql Server 2k database to an Oracle 8i schema using OMWB. After using BCP to collect metadata information on the source database, I tried to capture the source data model and got a "Capture aborted" message on the progress screen (even though then it appears a dialog window reporting "0 errors and 0 warnings", funny!). Down there is the error log OMWB generated. After reading some posts, I changed some columns of the OMWB dictionary that holds the source database name, but still got the same error. If someone can enlighten me on this toppic, I'd greatly appreciated it.
Here's the error log of OMWB:

Getting ORA-24801: error when reading a CLOB data using BufferReader
I am getting the "ORA-24801: illegal parameter value in OCI lob function", when reading a CLOB using a BufferedReader, i am using "oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver" for creating a connection pool and using Oracle 9.2.0.7 with Weblogic 8.1 SP 5. My code looks like this,
oracle.sql.CLOB c_lob = null;
c_lob = ( oracle.sql.CLOB)stmt.getClob(7);
BufferedReader in1 = new BufferedReader(c_lob.getCharacterStream());
char buffer[] = new char[1];
int i;
while((i = in1.read(buffer)) != -1)
The error is coming at "in1.read(buffer)".Hi,
Your buffer size should be the clob size.
char[] buffer = new char[c_lob.getBufferSize()];
Also, set the value for i as -1.
You could see the sample on OTN for help:

Error when changing Oracle thin driver to Bea's Oracle driver
Hi All !
I was using this code with WL9.2 and Oracle 10 until recently with an Oracle thin driver

Regards,
PubuduHello,
The errors you are receiving are typically a result of not following our published MOS note and our documentation. It’s important in order for Oracle E-Business Suite systems to be properly recognized by E-Business Suite Plug-in, AutoConfig must be enabled and updated on all nodes. You should prevalidate your system before the running discovery to help ensure success of the discovery process. These tests check that context files, context variables, users, and components are set up correctly in the system for successful discovery.
For more information on both topics refer to:
• Getting Started with Oracle Application Management Pack (AMP) for Oracle E-Business Suite, Release 12.1.0.1 (Doc ID 1434392.1)
• Oracle Application Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite Guide Release 12.1.0.1.0 Part No. E28715-03 October
If you are still experiencing errors after reviewing our documentation and taking the appropriate steps to prevalidate your system consider filing a Service Request with Support.

Jack R.Hi,
it works if you put an extra PARAMETERS clause at the end so the creation looks like:

I met a link error because of binutils version. After I installed binutils-2.15.92.0.2-15.0.0.0.2.x86_64.rpm (my version was binutils-2.15.92.0.2-15.0.0.0x86_64.rpm), I did retry and the install problem was solved.
Then during dbca I met another error (ORA-12547: TNS:lost contact) because of libaio. I had 32 bit version instead of 64 bit. After the package update dbca run successfully.
I'm facing the following problem during instance startup:
"Thu Apr 19 17:40:17 2007
Errors in file /oracle/admin/UAT/udump/uat_ora_2697.trc:
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-12663: Services required by client not available on the server
ORA-36961: Oracle OLAP is not available.
ORA-06512: at "SYS.OLAPIHISTORYRETENTION", line 1
ORA-06512: at line 15"
I told you those things about installation phase because maybe this error is related to the install (maybe something went wrong without I know it).
Error in trace is:
/oracle/admin/UAT/udump/uat_ora_2697.trc

The strange thing is that I haven't installed OLAP option. I installed enterprise edition + partioning.
Any help is much appreciated. Is my installation ok?
Thanks in advance,
