Error while connecting to oracle 10g data base

Following is the code we used to connect to oracle 10g data base using symbian 7.1 series 80 SDK
int CTest_S80AppUi::SetupODBC(void)
RETCODE rc;
char *DataSource = OD_DATA_SOURCE;
char UserId = "system", Password = "manager";
rc=SQLAllocEnv(&Henv);
//if (TEST_CHECK_ERR(SQL_NULL_HSTMT, rc, "SQLAllocEnv", FALSE) < 0) return(-1);
rc=SQLAllocConnect(Henv, &Hdbc);
//if (TEST_CHECK_ERR(SQL_NULL_HSTMT, rc, "SQLAllocConnect", FALSE) < 0)
     //return(-1);
rc = SQLConnect(Hdbc, (unsigned char *)DataSource, SQL_NTS,
          (unsigned char *)UserId, SQL_NTS,
          (unsigned char *)Password, SQL_NTS);
bConnected = TRUE;
//if (TEST_CHECK_ERR(SQL_NULL_HSTMT, rc, "SQLConnect", FALSE) < 0) return(-1);
SQLAllocStmt(Hdbc, &Hstmt);
//if (TEST_CHECK_ERR(SQL_NULL_HSTMT, rc, "SQLAllocStmt", FALSE) < 0) return(-1);
return (1);
} /* SetupODBC */
iam getting the return code for SQLConnect as -1.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply.
//syntax means comments.
chk the following code.
int SetupODBC(void)
char *DataSource = "polite";
char UserId = "system", Password = "manager";
if ( SQLAllocEnv(&Henv) < 0 )
return -1;
if ( SQLAllocConnect(Henv, &Hdbc) < 0 )
return -1;
if ( SQLConnect(Hdbc, (unsigned char *)DataSource, SQL_NTS,
(unsigned char *)UserId, SQL_NTS,
(unsigned char *)Password, SQL_NTS) < 0 )
return -1;
if (SQLAllocStmt(Hdbc, &Hstmt) < 0 )
return -1;
return (0);
As said earlier there is a problem in SQLConnect. It is returning -1.
But the code should return 0 if successfully connected.
The info regarding the arguments used in the above methods:
HENV Henv; /* Handle to ODBC Environment object */
HDBC Hdbc; /* Handle to ODBC Connection object */
HSTMT Hstmt; /* Handle to ODBC Statement object */

  • ORA-03106  Error when connecting to Oracle 10g from Forms 6i

    I have migrated my database from Oracle 8.0.5 to Oracle 10g, version 10.0.1.0.3 through import-export utility. During migration, one difference I made was to change the NLS_LANG to UTF8 from ANSI.
    The NLS_LANG for client is AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE81S08859P1.
    I am using HP ML370 Proliant Server and running Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS version 3 with Oracle 10g
    My client-server application is based on Oracle Developer version 2.1. I am using forms 5.0 and reports 3.0 only.
    The problem with me is that the client-server application is working against the upgraded database, but with greatly downgraded speed. The .fmb files cannot be compiled, however some of the .rdf files are compiled successfully, but remaining not.
    My question is that is Developer 2000 (Forms 5.0.6 and Reports 3.0.5) compatable with Oracle 10 database, as my application is running very slow ?
    I tried Forms 6i to remove this problem. I used Forms Developer 6i Recut version and successfully installed on Windows XP, however, when try to create connection using Net 8 Easy Utility, the connection does not establish with following error:
    ORA-03106 : fatal two-task communication protocol error
    The entry has been checked in tnsnames.ora and is found correct. I also tried connecting through SQL, but the application closes.
    The patch set 17 for installation on Windows XP has also been applied, but still the same error persits.
    The same installation has also been checked on Windows 2000, but the same problem persists.
    I would be thankful if any one provide me solution for the same. Where I am mistaken and what do I do to get out of this problem.
    Regards
    Naveen.

    Naveen,
    Forms 5.0 is not certified and not tested with Oracle DB 10g because it was desupported before 10g got released.
    The other problem is hard to give a generic answer for and I suggest to address this to metalink.oracle.com

  • Error while connecting to Oracle db using jdbc

    When I try to execute a java class which has to access data in

    The OCI driver 7.3 requires the 7.3 OCI to be installed (this is
    part of the client required support files or RSF). The particular
    call in question wasn't added to the OCI untill 7.3 so it
    wouldn't exist in the 7.2 OCI library.

  • Error while connecting to Oracle on Unix

    Hi..
    I m new to JDBC.
    I have written a small code which will connect to the Oracle and select some data to display report.
    On execution its throwing NULL POINTER EXCEPTION on conn.
    I guess the URL tht i hav used is a problem area. But i dont know what to use. I have used oracle_SID.
    Can someone tell me if that is correct url or where should i find correct DSN namein UNIX dir?

    hey thanks....
    actually i have done it using DSN on windows. but i
    really dont know wher should i do it on UNIX. The
    oracle 9i is already installed on this unix box. I
    guess, the DSN name also has been created and exists
    on the same. But i dont know where should i search in
    unix dir to structure to find this DSN name.
    Can someone help me to find existing DSN name on this
    box?
    I believe it should be somewhere in ORACLE_HOME ...
    ???For Unix, if you have ODBC installed, there is an odbc.ini where you need to add the necessary configurations.
    The best way you could do is make use of the Oracle thin driver (type 4).

  • Odbc driver error while connecting with Oracle BI in Linux

    I have Oracle BI Server, Presentation Service and Oracle 11g Client installed in RHEL 5. Oracle BI client is installed in Windows so that I can use Admin tool.
    I have created a repository in Windows for sh schema(by creating ODBC). After that I transferred this repository to the ..server/repository in the linux server.
    I have installed Oracle ODBC Driver from EASYSOFT and added one odbc data source for sh schema in the ../setup/odbc.ini.
    My ODBC setting is as follows.
    [ODBC Data Sources]
    sh=Oracle in OraDb11g_home1
    [sh]
    Driver=/usr/local/easysoft/oracle/libesoracle.so
    Database=//ipaddress_of_ORACLE_SERVER:port/database_service_name

    I have enabled tracing, but I am not getting any clue from trace output.
    Can anybody please help.
    If it is because of wrong driver, can anybody suggest a proper ODBC Driver for Oracle and how to configure it. If the driver is OK and configuration is wrong, can anybody tell me how to create system dsn in linux?
    Thanking you in advance.

    don't use ODBC for Oracle, use OCI
    search on the forum, there's plenty of information about it.

    Vipin,
    What is the error you are getting and what is the statement you removed? Post the removed statement, or the trigger. then it will be easy for us to understand more clearly.
    And also try to execute the statement in any SQL Editors, to check whether its working or not.

  • Error while connecting to Repository through Data Manager

    Hi Experts,
    I am able to access MDM server through MDM Console, Here mainlyI got two errors.
    Error 1:- I am not able to create new repository through Console.when I click on "create Repository" option in Console,it will try to connect DBMS server to create.at the same time I have given Database credentials.It was giving error like" Unable to connect to DBMS server".
    Error 2:- I have some repositories in my MDM server.already one repository is running.I am trying to access the running repository in Data Manager as well in as Import Manager and Syndicator.at the same time I am not able to connect to repository giving error like "Repository not loaded".
    Note: all the necessary ports are opened as per SAP standard.
    Please help me regarding this.if anybody have idea about this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ravi.

    Hi Ravi,
       Steps to load a repository
       1) Load the MDM server
       2) Start MDM server
       3) There you will find list of repositorys
       4) If required login into the repository
            This is the main step you got to perform to solve your second problem
       5) Right click the Repository and select 'Load Repository' and then 'Immediate'
           This will load the repository and you can work on the repository from any where either IM,DM or syndicator.
      For the first error check wether you have given the proper path for your DBMS server; if you give it right it wont give u any error. If its in local system then by default it be in the list. Else you got to provide the system name where the server is there.
      In case of any othere issuse please let me know.

  • ODBC Error while Siebel Server try to connect to Oracle 10G

    We have managed to get through with the configuration of siebel server on HP Unix. However before we get to the Database configuration, we are encountering errors with ODBC connection to oracle 10g database. We are able to connect to oracle using sql plus but odbc connection is failing. We verified for patches, missing files, directory access rights - but no clue as of now.
    Our error says:
    Logging into "ENTSIA_DEV_DAN" as "sadmin"....
    /user/lib/hpux32/dld.so: Unable to find library 'libclntsh.so'.
    ODBC error IM0003 in SQLConnect:
    (DataDirect){ODBC lib} specified driver could not be loaded
    Unable to login using specified odbc parameters
    This has become a show stopped for us and we are strugging with this for the past three days without much direction.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    I guess your DataDirect Driver which gets registered during Database Configuration has some problems.
    Can you check whether the DSN is using the proper Driver?
    Also, the username through which you are logging in to start Siebel Services must have proper rights.
    Many times on Windows platform i have noticied this error in ODBC due to improper user rights. If the rights are not proper, the DataDirect Driver fails to get loaded & throws similar error.

    which was referring about netsvc.conf
    With UNIX Team discussions, adjusted the host file as first name
    resolution source and DNS servers list followed in same(netsvc.conf)  file. which
    fixed the issue and "JdbcCheckup" passed.
