Escape character while doing export and import

Hi,
I am doing a typical exp and imp.
Works fine except one table which has rows which has sql in it like
SELECT NAME FROM EMPLOYEE E WHERE E.NAME=DEPARTMENT.NAME,
SELECT CITY FROM EMPLOYEE E WHERE E.CITY=?.
I am not able to import the second row but the first row is not the problem.
So I thought I need to ESCAPE ? for I tried backslash to escape question mark...didnt work. I tried quotes....didnt work, double quotes .......didnt work.....
Pls help.
Deepak

  • Shell Script For Export And Import Of Table Records

    Hello,
    We have production and test instances and for constant testing we need to copy data from production to test or development environment.
    At the moment what we do is manually doing export and import table records. At times this could be very tedious as we may need
    to do this exercise a couple of times in a day.
    Is it a good idea to do this exercise using shell script? If so how could I do this? If this is not a good idea what are the best alternatives?
    Any input is highly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Ah I see, your company prefers stupidity over efficiency. It would be possible to do it in a controlled environment, wouldn't it? Also the test database would be allowed to select only.
    So the non-allowance is just plain stupid.
    To the second question: do you use hard-coded passwords in shell scripts?
    Don't you think that poses a security risk?
    Don't you think that is a bigger risk than a database link, properly set up?
    In my book it is!

    I created new user on my new server from enterprise manager.
    Exported user from the old server and imported in the new server.
    i.e: from Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.0.0, I did
    c:\>exp system/manager file=abc.dmp owner=abc
    Then on the new server Release 9.2.0.1.0, I did
    c:\>imp system/manager file=abc.dmp fromuser=abc touser=abc
    I'm using Arabic Language on my both servers. NLS_LANG parameter on both the servers is AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252.
    On both the servers I'm able to insert and select data in arabic.
    However, after I export the data from old server to the new server, the arabic data comes in question marks.
    If I create new table and insert arabic data on new server's user abc it is displaying well. Only the data which I exported and imported is not showing arabic.
    On both old and new servers operating system is Windows XP.
    I'm stuck with this problem. Anybody having any idea about how to solve this problem please help.
    Thank you all in advance.
    Regards

    Let me be clear here. Storing Arabic data in a WE8MSWIN1252 database is not supported by Oracle and will lead to problems. You are incorrectly using the NLS_LANG to prevent proper conversion and your data appears to be okay when you use utilties like SQL*PLUS to view your data. When you write applications that don't rely on the NLS_LANG like JDBC thin driver for instance you will realize your data is in fact invalid. To learn more about the NLS_LANG you can take a look at this FAQ: http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/globalization/htdocs/nls_lang%20faq.htm
    To migrate your database to a proper character set you can refer to this paper:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/globalization/pdf/mwp.pdf
    But please do not ask for help in supporting your current configuration in this forum.

  • DHCP Server does not work after Exporting and Importing Using Netsh Command

    Hello Friends :
    I had two dhcp servers in windows server 2003 server , I have upgraded one of them to windows server 2008 32 bit and again i installed a windows server 2008 R2 as an additional Domain Controller , the last scenario was like this :
    srv-1 : windows server 2003 + DHCP = working with no problem
    srv-2 : windows server 2003 + DC + DHCP = Worked without problem
    srv-3 : windows server 2008 R2 + DC = worked without any problems
    I exported the DHCP server configuration on the srv-2 using netsh dhcp server export and Imported them to srv-3 using the
    netsh dhcp server import command , the command completed successfully and i can see all of the scopes without any problems and errors , i have authorized the new server without any problem , all scopes are activated without any problem so i
    disabled the srv-2 DHCP service and unauthorized it from active directory , the problem is that the new server semms that does not lease any address to clients !!!
    1- I have authorized it
    2- I used Rogue Checker tool in client computers they see authorized server without any problems
    3- The same tool in workgroup only shows srv-1 as the DHCP server and does not see other DHCP servers
    4- Bindings are OK and DHCP servers only have one NIC installed on them
    What can i do to make sure my srv-3 DHCP server will work on the network ?
    thanks ...
    MIMO

    Are the clients on another network so you need to configure a DHCP relay agent?
    If you load up perfmon on the dhcp server and remove all counters and then add DHCP counters. Do you see any dhcprequests when you reboot your dhcp clients? This will determine if your server actually receives any dhcp requests.
    Have you check event viewer for any warnings or errors?
    And the classic one restarted the dhcp server service (or reboot)?

  • Issue Migrating Character Data Using a Full Export and Import

    Hi There;
    I have a database in my local machine that doesn't support Turkish characters. My NLS_CHARACTERSET is WE8ISO8859P1, It must be changed to WE8ISO8859P9 , since it supports full Turkish characters. I would like to migrate character data using a full export and import and my strategy is as follows:
    1- create a full export to a location in network,
    2- create a new database in local machine that it's NLS_CHARACTERSET is WE8ISO8859P9 (I would like to change NLS_LANGUAGE and NLS_TERRITORY by the way)
    3- and implement full import to newly created database.
    I 've implemented first step, but I couldn't implement the second step. I 've created the second step by using toad editor by clicking Create -> New Database but I can not connect the new database. I must connect new database in order to perform full import. How can I do this?
    Thanks in advance.
    Technical Details
    NLS_LANGUAGE.....................AMERICAN
    NLS_TERRITORY.....................AMERICA
    NLS_CURRENCY.....................$
    NLS_ISO_CURRENCY..............AMERICA
    NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS    .,
    NLS_CHARACTERSET.............WE8ISO8859P1
    NLS_CALENDAR.....................GREGORIAN
    NLS_DATE_FORMAT................DD-MON-RR
    NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE...........AMERICAN
    NLS_SORT...............................BINARY
    NLS_TIME_FORMAT.................HH.MI.SSXFF AM
    NLS_TIMESTAMP_FORMAT......DD-MON-RR HH.MI.SSXFF AM
    NLS_TIME_TZ_FORMAT............HH.MI.SSXFF AM TZR
    NLS_TIMESTAMP_TZ_FORMAT..DD-MON-RR HH.MI.SSXFF AM TZR
    NLS_DUAL_CURRENCY............ $
    NLS_COMP...............................BINARY
    NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS.......BYTE
    NLS_NCHAR_CONV_EXCP........FALSE
    NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET...AL16UTF16
    NLS_RDBMS_VERSION............10.2.0.1.0

    First, if your applications run on Windows, do not use WE8ISO8859P9. Use TR8MSWIN1254.
    Second, if you create a new database, the database is not necessarily immediately accessible to outer world. I do not know Toad and I have no idea if it performs all necessary steps required for the new database to be visible.  For example, in the Toad itself, I assume you should create a new connection that references the new SID of the newly created database and use this new connection to connect. However, connections without a connection string use the ORACLE_SID setting in Registry to tell connecting applications which instance (database) to use.  To change the database accessed with an empty connection string you need to modify Registry (unless Toad has an option to do this for you). If you want to connect without changing Registry, you need a connect string. This requires setting up Oracle Listener to serve the new database (unless default configuration is used and the database registers itself with the default listener). It also requires changing tnsnames.ora file to create an alias for the new database. Net Manager and/or Net Configuration Assistant can help you with this.
    I wonder if Database Configuration Assistant would not be a better tool to create new Oracle databases.
    Thanks,
    Sergiusz

    tablespace TESTTBS doesn't exist in the database where your are importing.
    Either create tablespace in target database or
    use show=y option while importing to get table structure and create manually in target database then import and give ignore=y.

  • Export and Import using Named Pipes

    Hai,
    I need an clarification in export, import and compress of dumps using named pipes.I am using Oracle 9i RAC 9.2.0.4 in AIX 5.3. Every month i have to move list of tables from one database to another database after taking export dumps. The list of activities done by me at present are given below.
    1. Taking export and gziping the dump file at the same time using named pipes.
    2. Doing uncompress and import in the second database using named pipes.
    We are doing compress for space constraints. Now my doubt is whether using named pipes, we can do both operation of import and compress of dump file at the same time. i.e, at the time of export itself , using named pipes, i need both import in the another database and compress the zip file. Is it possible?

  • Internal table export and import in ECC 5.0 version

    Hi friends,
    I am trying to export and import internal table from one program to other program.
    The below… export and import commands are not working when I run the program in background (using SUBMIT zxxxx via JOB name NUMBER number…..)
    EXPORT ITAB TO MEMORY id 'ZMATERIAL_CREATE'.
    IMPORT ItAB FROM MEMORY ID 'ZMATERIAL_CREATE'.
    Normally it should work. Since It’s not working I am trying with another alternative..
    i.e EXPORT (ptab) INTERNAL TABLE itab.
    My sap version is ECC 5.0….
    For your information, here I am forwarding sap help. Pls have a look and explain how to declare ptab internal table.
    +Extract from SAP help+
    In the dynamic case the parameter list is specified in an index table ptab with two columns. These columns can have any name and have to be of the type "character". In the first column of ptab, you have to specify the names of the parameters and in the second column the data objects. If the second column is initial, then the name of the parameter in the first column has to match the name of a data object. The data object is then stored under its name in the cluster. If the first column of ptab is initial, an uncatchable exception will be raised.
    Outside of classes you can also use a single-column internal table for parameter_list for the dynamic form. In doing so, all data objects are implicitly stored under their name in the data cluster.
    My internal table having around 45 columns.
    pls help me.
    Thanks in advance
    raghunath

    The export/import should work the way you are using it. Just make sure you are using same memory id and make sure its unique - meaning u are using it only for this itab purpose and not overwriting it with other values. Check itab is not initial before you export in program 1 - then import it in prog2 with same memory id...also check case, I am not sure if its case sensitive...
    Here is how you use the second variant...
    Two fields with two different identifications "P1" and "P2" with the dynamic variant of the cluster definition are written to the ABAP Memory. After execution of the statement IMPORT, the contents of the fields text1 and text2 are interchanged.
    TYPES:
      BEGIN OF tab_type,
        para TYPE string,
        dobj TYPE string,
      END OF tab_type.
    DATA:
      id    TYPE c LENGTH 10 VALUE 'TEXTS',
      text1 TYPE string VALUE `IKE`,
      text2 TYPE string VALUE `TINA`,
      line  TYPE tab_type,
      itab  TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF tab_type.
    line-para = 'P1'.
    line-dobj = 'TEXT1'.
    APPEND line TO itab.
    line-para = 'P2'.
    line-dobj = 'TEXT2'.
    APPEND line TO itab.
    EXPORT (itab)     TO MEMORY ID id.
    IMPORT p1 = text2
           p2 = text1 FROM MEMORY ID id.

    Old EXP IMP doesnt have capability to append the row, since you're using 10g use datapump instead. use option TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=APPENDso my import should be like this
    imp "'/ as sysdba'" file=Table1_1006.dmp fromuser=user1 touser=user1 tables=Table1 log=imp_Table1_1006.log TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=APPEND
    Did you look up the command line syntax and control options for imp?
    You should make it a habit that whenever anyone - especially a stranger on the web - gives you a bit of code or references a command or init parm or any some such, the VERY FIRST thin you should ALWAYS do is look it up for yourself and see exactly where and how it is used and what it means. That is how you grow beyond having to be spoon fed every little thing and become more self-sufficient.
    If you had, you would have seen that there is no TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION option for imp and seen that it is an option for impdp. And realized that exp and imp are NOT the same thing as expdp and impdp.

    Learning how to look things up in the documentation is time well spent investing in your career. To that end, you should drop everything else you are doing and do the following:
    Go to tahiti.oracle.com.
    Drill down to your product and version.
    <b><i><u>BOOKMARK THAT LOCATION</u></i></b>
    Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what is available here. Take special note of the "books" and "search" tabs. Under the "books" tab you will find the complete documentation library.
    Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what <b><i><u>kind</u></i></b> of documentation is available there by simply browsing the titles under the "Books" tab.
    Open the Reference Manual and spend a few minutes looking through the table of contents to get familiar with what <b><i><u>kind</u></i></b> of information is available there.
    Do the same with the SQL Reference Manual.
    Do the same with the Utilities manual.
    You don't have to read the above in depth. They are <b><i><u>reference</b></i></u> manuals. Just get familiar with <b><i><u>what</b></i></u> is there to <b><i><u>be</b></i></u> referenced. Ninety percent of the questions asked on this forum can be answered in less than 5 minutes by simply searching one of the above manuals.
    Then set yourself a plan to dig deeper.
    - Read a chapter a day from the Concepts Manual.
    - Take a look in your alert log. One of the first things listed at startup is the initialization parms with non-default values. Read up on each one of them (listed in your alert log) in the Reference Manual.
    - Take a look at your listener.ora, tnsnames.ora, and sqlnet.ora files. Go to the Network Administrators manual and read up on everything you see in those files.
    - When you have finished reading the Concepts Manual, do it again.
    Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime.

  • Question regarding export and import of Hyperion Security during upgrade

    Hi Guys,
    We are upgrading Essbase, Integration Services from 7x to 9x which are utilizing Hyperion Hub and we are going to follow the method of uninstalling 7x and reinstalling 9x components.
    Now my question is, what is the best way of transferring security from 7x to 9x. I heard that Advanced Security Manager can be used to export and import back security. Or is there any
    other way of doing it??
    Can someone please enlighten me on this.
    Thanks in advance
    K

    First let me say that any software that comes without a save button should be sold with a warning label.
    Why?
    Question 1:  I have having an issue comprehending how to save a photo.  In my case  I select the photo, zoom in on the subject, export it to my desktop. The pciture on my desktop does not incorporate the change. Am I missing a step? What do I need to do to export it with this change? I actually watched a You Tube video on this and could not see what i was not doing.
    You must have selected the wrong option in the Export dialog box. Under "File Settings", you need to select JPG and not "Original". Of course, you probably need to do some additional viewing of videos (or some reading) to learn that most people's workflow does not automatically include a "Save" or "Export" after editing the photo. It's not a necessary part of Lightroom's workflow, unless you need the photo for some non-Lightroom activity.
    Question 2: I just installed Lightroom and am trying to import my 12k strong photo collection. The Import button pulls in about 2k and then cannot find anymore. The photos are stored in folders by date within a master folder. I am selecting the master folder. I can go in and import the sub-fodler individually. However i do not want to do that 200 times.There is no apparent way to go into the subfolder level and select more than one folder.
    In the Import dialog box, on the left, under "Source", there is a checkbox that says "Include SubFolders". Make sure this is checked.
    Seriously, you need to spend some time reading introductory material about LR because Lightroom does not work like any other photographic software you might have used in the past. You are handling it as if it was no different than standard photo editing software, and you are going to be frustrated if that is your mindset. • SQL Developer 2.1: Problem exporting and importing unit tests

    Hi,
    I have created several unit tests on functions that are within packages. I wanted to export these from one unit test repository into another repository on a different database. The export and import work fine, but when running the tests on the imported version, there are lots of ORA-06550 errors. When debugging this, the function name is missing in the call, i.e. it is attempting <SCHEMA>.<PACKAGE> (parameters) instead of <SCHEMA>.<PACKAGE>.<FUNCTION> (parameters).
    Looking in the unit test repository itself, it appears that the OBJECT_CALL column in the UT_TEST table is null - if I populate this with the name of the function, then everything works fine. Therefore, this seems to be a bug with export and import, and it is not including this in the XML. The same problem happens whether I export a single unit test or a suite of tests. Can you please confirm whether this is a bug or whether I am doing something wrong?
    Thanks,
    Pierre.

    Hi Pierre,
    Thanks for pointing this out. Unfortunately, it is a bug on our side and you have found the (ugly) "work-around".

  • How to export and import dependent tables from 2 different schema

    I have a setup where schema1 has table 1 and schema 2 has table2. And table 1 from schema1 depends upon table 2 from schema 2.
    I would like to export and import these tables only and not any other tables from these 2 schemas with all information like grants,constraints.
    Also will there be same method for Oracle 10g R1,R2 and Oracle 11G.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B12037_01/server.101/b10825/dp_export.htm#i1007514
    Looking at this For table mode it says
    Also, as in schema exports, cross-schema references are not exported
    Not sure what this means.
    As I am interested in only 2 tables I think I need to use table mode. But if I try to run export with both tables names, it says table mode support only one schema at a time. Not sure then How would the constraints would get exported in that case.

  • Error when exporting and importing TS

    Hi I am running SCCM 2012 SP1 and am trying to export a Task Sequence including with the Windows 7 wim, the boot wim, some applications and drivers.  When I exported the TS I selected to export dependencies and content.
    I have setup dev SCCM environment (same spec as production) and am trying to import the .zip that was created when I completed the export.  When doing the import I am getting the below error on both the Windows 7 wim and the boot wim :
    Error Imported Operating System Image (1):
    Create new Windows 7 Enterprise x64
    Generic failure
    instance of SMS_ExtendedStatus
     Description = "Failed to get the image property from the source WIM file due
    to error 80070003".
     ErrorCode= 2147942403;
     File="e:\\nts_sccm_release\\sms\\siteserver\\sdk_provider\\smsprov\
    \sspimagepackage.cpp";
     Line = 483;
     Operation = "Putinstance";
     ParameterInfo = "";
     ProviderName = "ExtnProv";
     StatusCode = 2147749889;
    The applications and drivers have been imported into the Dev SCCM server however I cannot find the actual content so I am not sure this has worked properly.  I am wondering if I would be better off using the Migration wizard to take the TS and
    content across.  Would appreciate any advice on either a) how to fix the issues with the importing of the TS or b) whether I should just be using the migration wizard.
    Thanks
    G

    When you exported did you choose to "Export all content for selected task sequence and dependencies".
    80070003 = The system cannot find the path specified.

  • Use of export and import in oo abap

    Hello experts,
    We are new to oo abap and using process controlled workflow for BRF.
    There are 3 methods which we are using. /SAPSRM/IF_EX_WF_RESP_RESOLVERGET_AREA_TO_ITEM_MAP, /SAPSRM/IF_WF_AREAGET_RESPONSIBLE_APPROVERS and /SAPSRM/IF_EX_WF_RESP_RESOLVER~GET_APPROVERS_BY_AREA_GUID.
    In a situation we want to use document_id which is created in item_map into get_responsible_approvers method.
    Therefore, we used export and import in these two methods like the following.
    zgc_mock_pdo_guid =  is_document-document_guid. "uncomment later
        export zgc_mock_pdo_guid from zgc_mock_pdo_guid to memory id 'Z_MOCK_PDO_GUID' . "uncomment later
    and
    import zgc_mock_pdo_guid  = zgc_mock_pdo_guid  from  memory id 'Z_MOCK_PDO_GUID' . "uncomment this later
                   CALL METHOD /SAPSRM/CL_WF_APV_FACADE=>RETRIEVE_PROCESS_HISTORY
                     EXPORTING
                       IV_DOCUMENT_GUID = zgc_mock_pdo_guid "ins_guid
                       IV_AGENT_ID      = lv_agent
                       IV_LANGUAGE      = sy-langu
                     IMPORTING
                       ES_PROCESS       = ls_process
    Now we are getting the results as per our requirements. But I want to know whether or not it is supposed to be used in oo abap context or not otherwise I will find another method to do so. Please advise/suggest about the same.
    Thank you.

    Hello Keshav, Suhas.
    Thank you vary much for your reply. I was definitely a great help to understand the concept.
    This ZGC_MOCK_PDO_GUID attribute was already made private. Instead of defining under public section I defined it under attributes tab.
    Thank you for your help though.
    Right now I am trying to explore another way to do so.
    I am trying to get factory instance for tack container using /SAPSRM/IF_CLL_TASKCON_FACTORY interface with method GET_INSTANCE from class /SAPSRM/CL_CH_WD_TASKCONT_FACT.
    Later I am trying to get task container from this interface. Then after I am interested to get SC GUID using GET_BO_GUID method.
    I have been trying to achieve this in following way. But somehow i am getting this GUID empty.
    data :
    temp_task_container_factory type REF TO /SAPSRM/IF_CLL_TASKCON_FACTORY,
    temp_instance type REF TO /SAPSRM/IF_PDO_BO_SC_ADV,
    ins_guid type BBP_GUID, "/SAPSRM/WF_DOCUMENT_GUID,
    ls_process_info TYPE /SAPSRM/S_PDO_WF_PROCESS_INFO,
    temp_handler TYPE REF TO /SAPSRM/IF_PDO_STATIC_META,
    temp_task_container type REF TO /SAPSRM/IF_CLL_TASK_CONTAINER,
    lo_task TYPE REF TO /SAPSRM/IF_CLL_TASKCON_FACTORY.
    CALL METHOD /SAPSRM/CL_CH_WD_TASKCONT_FACT=>GET_INSTANCE
    RECEIVING
    RO_TASK_CONTAINER_FACTORY = temp_task_container_factory "
    CALL METHOD TEMP_TASK_CONTAINER_FACTORY->GET_TASK_CONTAINER
    * EXPORTING
    * IV_TRANS_MODE =
    * IO_MESSAGE_HANDLER =
    * IV_BO_TYPE =
    RECEIVING
    RO_TASK_CONTAINER = temp_task_container
    CALL METHOD TEMP_TASK_CONTAINER->GET_BO_GUID
    RECEIVING
    RV_BO_GUID = ins_guid .
    TRY.
    CALL METHOD /SAPSRM/CL_PDO_FACTORY_SC_ADV=>GET_BUFFERED_INSTANCE
    EXPORTING
    IV_HEADER_GUID = ins_guid
    RECEIVING
    RO_INSTANCE = temp_instance
    ENDTRY.
    CALL METHOD ZCL_WF_APV_FACADE=>RETRIEVE_PROCESS_HISTORY
    EXPORTING
    IV_DOCUMENT_GUID = ins_guid " we are passing ins_guid instead of zGC_MOCK_PDO_GUID this should have area_guid now.
    IV_AGENT_ID = lv_agent
    IV_LANGUAGE = sy-langu
    IMPORTING
    ES_PROCESS = ls_process.
    But the ins_guid ( returned by RV_BO_GUID ) is empty ( The Bold fonted line of code)
    I want to know whether I am doing this instantiation correctly or not or do I have to create class and object here only ?
    Right now I am calling the class, getting get_instance and using its instance temp_task_container_factory i am calling interface /SAPSRM/IF_CLL_TASKCON_FACTORY. Is it correct way? PLease advise. Thank you once again.
