Escape the Ampersand in SQL Interface

How can I escape the & in the SQL Interface? Backslash doesn't work. I don't have any subvars.
Essbase 11.1.1.3

Have you tried putting quotes around the member name?
Anytime you have a space, then ampersand, then text, it will try to resolve it as a subvar. Now if you have a member name with Text & Text, you would naturally have quotes around it as "Text & Text", which would be ok.
As a best practice, just don't nestle the & up to text on the right side as it will always look for it to be a subvar. I've even encountered issues with that in ASO, as membernames are enclosed by brackets(not quotes).

  • Using html in cf report builder and escaping the & ampersand character

    Some of the data we collect is entered via a WYSIWYG editor.  Therefore formatting such as bold, italic etc is translated into HTML.
    The text could also contain special characters/accented characters, again these are translated into their html equivalents.
    In CF Report Builder, I have set the XHTML Text formatting to TRUE.  However the report won't render the text in these boxes.  From what I can see it doesn't like the '&' character (ampersand).
    I have read elsewhere that report builder is limited in the characters etc that it can read and that I should translate the values.  I ended up doing this in the database to try and save some time.

  • Having issues after installing Essbase V9.3.1,configuring the SQL interface

    I am having issues after installing Essbase V9.3.1 and configuring the SQL interface. we are using UNIX/AIX box for our Essbase server and UDB DB2 9.1 SP6 as our SQL Interface.
    When tried to run an ESSCMD script to perform BUILDDIM operation on Essbase application using the load rule (with the SQL interface), got the error as recorded in the application log file and is attached at the bottom and the .odbc.ini file on the server looks as follows.
    Can somebody tell me whether .odbc.ini needs any correction or what else should I do to correct the issue and able to work thru using SQL interface? Appreciate any help provided in this regard. Thanks,

    I had similar errors when first setting up the SQL interface. Are you on a 64 bit operating system on the essbase server? If so Essbase needs to use the 32 bit odbc driver, not the default 64 bit driver.
    The 32 bit driver is still available here SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe <-----This is the 32 bit (Use)
    The Administrative tools by default uses system32\odbcad32.exe <----This is the 64 bit (Don't Use)
    Once I opened the 32 bit driver interface directly and set it up the errors went away.

  • Cannot Open SQL from Data Prep Editor (SQL Interface)

    Hi,
    When I Open SQL in Data Prep Editor: "There are no data sources defined. Please create one to continue."
    I create a ODBC connections using the drivers bellow and I obtain always the same message ("There are no data sources defined.."):
    Oracle in OraDb10g_home2
    Microsoft ODBC for Oracle
    MERANT OEM 5.2 32-BIT Oracle
    I have installed and configured Essbase, release 11.1.1.2
    Is posible that the SQL interface is not installed and configured with the Essbase Server?
    How I can install and configure the SQL Interface? I need to do somethink else?
    Thanks!
    Assia

    Through EAS select the server and right click and select properties. then go to the environment tab(I think) it should show everything you are licensed for. If this is a System 9 or higher, you should have it automatically. If it is 7X or below,then yoes it has to be licensed

    The essbase user needs to be restarted to be able to see the new odbc.ini entries.
    After editing the files you mentioned, did you restart the essbase services?
    At the very least, did you exit EAS, then restart EAS? (I don't remember which one of these will do it.) If your entries are correct, then one of these should get the essbase user to 'see' the odbc connection.
    Also, it might help to remove extraneous entries in the .odbc.ini file, kind of difficult to read thru all of that.

  • How to escape the special character ' (ascii 39) in a select query?

    Hi,
    does anybody know how to escape the special character ' (ascii 39) in a select query?
    I've tried a lot of ways but nothing seems to work, for example I try to get all
    names in table foo where coloumn name contains a '-sign (ascii 39)
    select name from foo where name like '%\'%';
    select name from foo where name like '%{'}%';
    select name from atg_horse where name like '%chr(39)%'
    ... but neither works, I end up with a ORA-01756: quoted string not properly terminated
    I would apriciate any help
    /Carl-Michael

    friends
    thanks for ur time and effort that u gave to reply to my problem.
    But my main problem is that when my application (VC++ 7) fires the following query in the oracle database , it does not return any rows.
    SELECT count(*) FROM ORGANISATION WHERE UPPER(ORGANISATION.ORGANISATIONNAME)
    LIKE N'&#946;%' ORDER BY ORGANISATION.ORGANISATIONNAME
    the above question in the previous thread was just to check on sql plus as it's editor does not support unicode characters.

  • Dynamic Dimesion Building using SQL Interface

Here is the view:SELECT B.TREE_NODE AS PARENT , A.TREE_NODE AS CHILD , (A.TREE_NODE||' : '||C.DESCR) , b.tree_node_num AS num , a.tree_node_num AS c_tree_node_num , 'A' AS ord FROM SYSADM.PSTREENODE A , SYSADM.PSTREENODE B , SYSADM.PS_TREE_NODE_TBL C WHERE A.TREE_NAME = 'PRE_CUBE' AND A.SETID = 'NW' AND A.EFFDT = ( SELECT MAX(EFFDT) FROM PSTREELEAF WHERE TREE_NAME = 'PRE_CUBE') AND A.TREE_NAME = B.TREE_NAME AND A.SETID = B.SETID AND A.EFFDT = B.EFFDT AND A.PARENT_NODE_NUM = B.TREE_NODE_NUM AND A.TREE_NODE = C.TREE_NODE AND A.SETID = C.SETID AND C.EFF_STATUS = 'A' AND C.EFFDT = ( SELECT MAX(EFFDT) FROM SYSADM.PS_TREE_NODE_TBL X WHERE C.TREE_NODE = X.TREE_NODE AND C.SETID = X.SETID) UNION SELECT B.TREE_NODE AS PARENT , (A.RANGE_FROM||' : '||DESCR) AS child , A.RANGE_FROM , b.tree_node_num AS num , a.tree_node_num AS c_tree_node_num , 'B' AS ord FROM SYSADM.PSTREELEAF A , SYSADM.PSTREENODE B , SYSADM.PS_GL_ACCOUNT_TBL C WHERE A.TREE_NAME = 'PRE_CUBE' AND A.SETID = 'NW' AND A.EFFDT = ( SELECT MAX(EFFDT) FROM PSTREELEAF WHERE TREE_NAME = 'PRE_CUBE') AND A.TREE_NAME = B.TREE_NAME AND A.EFFDT = B.EFFDT AND A.SETID = B.SETID AND A.TREE_NODE_NUM = B.TREE_NODE_NUM AND C.SETID = A.SETID AND A.RANGE_FROM = C.ACCOUNT AND C.EFFDT = ( SELECT MAX(EFFDT) FROM SYSADM.PS_GL_ACCOUNT_TBL X WHERE C.ACCOUNT = X.ACCOUNT AND c.setid = x.setid) UNION SELECT B.TREE_NODE AS PARENT , (D.ACCOUNT||' : '||DESCR) AS child , D.ACCOUNT , b.tree_node_num AS num , a.tree_node_num AS c_tree_node_num , 'B' AS ord FROM pstreeleaf a , pstreenode b , PS_GL_ACCOUNT_TBL D WHERE a.tree_name = 'PRE_CUBE' AND a.effdt = '01-JAN-2001' AND A.SETID = 'NW' AND A.RANGE_FROM <> A.RANGE_TO AND A.TREE_NAME = B.TREE_NAME AND A.SETID = B.SETID AND A.EFFDT = B.EFFDT AND A.TREE_NODE_NUM = B.TREE_NODE_NUM AND D.ACCOUNT BETWEEN A.RANGE_FROM AND A.RANGE_TO AND D.SETID = 'NW' AND D.EFFDT = ( SELECT MAX(EFFDT) FROM PS_GL_ACCOUNT_TBL X WHERE D.ACCOUNT = X.ACCOUNT AND D.SETID = X.SETID)I created a view from the last union section of the SQL and Essbase returns a zero rows found error, although when I ran the view in SQL worksheet I was able to get rows returned. Any ideas on why the view does not return the expected results in Essbase?

    before your query do:
    <cfsavecontent
    variable="emailmessagebody"><cfinclude
    template="#mancbPath#/mancb_body.cfm"></cfsavecontent>
    then in your query instead of using '<cfinclude ...>'
    use
    '#emailmessagebody#'

  • SQL interface on linux 64

    I am trying to setup the sql interface on a linux 64 box, using essbase 11.1.2
    I have added a data source.
    followed the instructions in the SQl interface guide
    Open the $EPM_ORACLE_HOME/common/ODBC/Merant/x.x/odbc.ini file and add a data
    source description.
    Copy the $EPM_ORACLE_HOME/common/ODBC/Merant/x.x/odbc.ini to
    $ESSBASEPATH/bin/.odbc.ini.
    Create a symbolic link to the $ESSBASEPATH/bin/.odbc.ini from the UNIX user home directory:
    ln -s $EPM_ORACLE_HOME/common/ODBC/Merant/x.x/odbc.ini /home/myfolder/.odbc.ini
    Verify that the odbc.ini file in the user home directory matches the odbc.ini file in
    $EPM_ORACLE_HOME/common/ODBC/Merant/x.x.
    stopped and restarted the admin server.
    In the admin console I then tried to create a rules file and i opened the SQL Data sources.
    But the data source which i had defined in the odbc.ini does not appear in the SQL data sources list.
    I have double checked my steps with no success have i missed some aspect of configuration
    has anyone else had this experience.

    Hi there,
    Came across this searching for a similar problem but we managed to fix this by
    1. Updating our odbc.ini file to the correct information
    2. Creating symbolic links on the essbase server:
    ln -s /ess/oracle/EPMSystem11R1/common/ODBC-64/Merant/6.0/odbc.ini /ess/oracle/EPMSystem11R1/products/Essbase/EssbaseServer/bin/.odbc.ini
    ln -s /ess/oracle/EPMSystem11R1/common/ODBC-64/Merant/6.0/odbc.ini /export/home/bismart/.odbc.ini
    ln -s /ess/oracle/EPMSystem11R1/common/ODBC-64/Merant/6.0/odbc.ini /ess/oracle/user_projects/epmsystem1/EssbaseServer/essbaseserver1/bin/.odbc.ini
    3. Restart all services
    Some of that may not strictly be necessary but we've managed to get it working and have a drop down in EAS now.
    Note that our install was done to /ess/oracle and our user is bismart with home directory /export/home/bismart/ - yours will be different so substitute with the correct path.
    It may be unrelated because we're actually on Solaris 64 but best of luck
    Cheers,

  • Problems getting ODBC SQL Interface to work for Essbase 11.1.1.3

    Hi folks.
    We're running Essbase 11.1.1.3 on Linux (32 bit) and I want to use the ODBC SQL Interface to load fact data.
    We have run the SQL Interface install .sh script successfully, then restarted the Essbase agent, and have modified the ODBC.ini file to use the Oracle Wire Protocol driver.
    I enter the SQL query in the rule Data Prep Editor in EAS (File | Open SQL) and when I hit "OK/Retrieve" I get the error "Failed to Establish Connection with SQL Database Server."
    The application log file says:

    Have you followed the info here :- How to define a relational data source in (odbc.ini) V11 Essbase?
    You don't need to run Inst-SQL.sh

  • How to insert the records using sql query

    hi,
    i insert the record uisng sql query and DOTNET programme successfully and increase the doc num .ubut when i try to  add record using SAP B1 the old Doc no show.It means its not consider the docnums which are not inserted by sql query.
    how can i solve this problem?
    Regards,
    M.Thippa Reddy

    You are not support use Insert / Update / Delete on SAP Databases directly.
    SAP will not support any database, which is inconsistent, due to SQL-Queries, which modify datasets or the datastructure of the SAP Business One Database. This includes any update-, delete- or drop-statements executed via SQL-Server Tools or via the the query interface of SAP Business One

  • Escape the & sign in a parameter....

    Hi Guys,
    I have a call to a procedure with following parameters.....
    Security_SYS.New_Pres_Object('globalTIMREP', 'TIMREP', 'WIN', 'Globals for Time & Attendance', 'Auto');
    But for a name it contains an '&' sign.... so when it gets deployed it is requesting a value for Attendance:....
    Is there a way to escape the & sign and still get these parameters to this call correct....
    Thanks.....

    Try passing this as the parameter -
    'Globals for Time ' || '&' || ' Attendance'
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE p1 (p_param1 VARCHAR2)
    AS
    BEGIN
    DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line ('p_param1= ' || p_param1);
    END;
    test>>BEGIN
    2 p1('Globals for Time '|| '&' ||' Attendance');
    3 END;
    4 /
    p_param1= Globals for Time & Attendance

  • Does Less Than ( ) operator works in the data template SQL within CDATA ??

    All,
    I am trying to use <= operator (<= sysdate) in the data template sql query and it's throwing Java exceptions.
    I have CDATA around my sql and XML parser should ignore '<' symbol. Query works fine if I use 'ampersandlt;=' operator. Here is my query
    <sqlStatement name="Q_1" dataSourceRef="">
    <![CDATA[select * from table where date_column <= sysdate]]>
    </sqlStatement>
    Just want to know if this is a bug.
    Thanks
    Problem was solved. Use 'ampersandlt;' where ampersand is '&' for less than

    Try this..
    select * from table where date_column <= sysdate

  • Sorting values by escaping the html tags

    Hi Friends,
    My problem is described below...
    I am facing an issue where I need to sort (main title/ alternate title) by escaping the html tags.
    eg 'Amex' should always be before 'Singer'
    Amex in DB is like Amex.
    Syngo in DB is like &lt;i&gt;Singer&lt;/i&gt
    something can be --- <i>hello<i>
      sql.append("SELECT DISTINCT NVL(ItemDocMeta.xMainTitle, ItemDocMeta.xAlternateTitle) AS generatedPageTitle,");
    other conditions
    // order by
                sql.append(" ORDER BY LOWER(generatedPageTitle) ASC");
    Is there any SQL function that can make it easier?
    I tried using regex in the ith order by clause, but it doesnt work until i keep it in the select part. And I am unable to use regex in the select part with distinct.
    Thanks

    For example :
    SQL> set scan off
    SQL>
    SQL>
    SQL> with sample_data as (
      2      select 'again sort a column' str from dual union all
      3      select '<i>sort</i> a column' from dual union all
      4      select '&lt;i&gt;resort&lt;i&gt;' from dual
      5  )
      6  select str
      7  from sample_data
      8  order by regexp_replace(
      9             utl_i18n.unescape_reference(str)
    10           , '</?[^>]+>'
    11           )
    12  ;
    STR
    again sort a column
    &lt;i&gt;resort&lt;i&gt;
    <i>sort</i> a column

  • Teradata SQL interface For Essbase

    Hi,
    Can anyone give me an idea on how exactly Teradata sql interface works while loading data in essbase cubes? Does it create any temporary storage while fetching the data from source system? How can we make the process faster other than using teradata parallel transporter and THREADSWRITE for essbase? And I think it's better to do the transformations in sql itself, rather than doing it in rule file.
    Thanks in advance!

    From what I understand EPM Fusion Edition 11.1.1 has optimized loading from Teradata I'm not sure, but it may take advantage of fast export. I believe it has to create a temporary table on Teradata(spool) to gather that data together to send to Essbase. I agree it is better to do the transformation in the SQL before getting it to Essbase, you have more flexibility to get things the way you want in SQL(more complex logic and transformations)
