Escaping input paramters for Oracle

Hi all,
I am calling a stored procedure in Oracle and passing in one parameter as a string. The value is coming from the URL query string, a jsp is doing a request.getparameter and a method is called that handles the Oracle connectivity and stored procedure call.
I'm looking for a way to make sure that any characters that need to be escaped, like a single quote ('), are escaped before being passed to the stored procedure. Is there a Java function that will do this? Can the EncodeURL method be used here?
Thanks

Here's a little more information on my code. I am using a CallableStatement with a conn.prepareCall method:
CallableStatement cs = null;
String proc = "BEGIN DCUSTID(?,?);END;";
cs = conn.prepareCall(proc);
cs.setString(1, sCustID);
cs.registerOutParameter(2,java.sql.Types.NUMERIC);
cs.execute();
Can I use the prepareStatement() method in place of my prepareCall() if I change the cs parameter above to Statement stmt? If so, will this automatically handle any necessary escaping?
Thanks

  • Pop-up input box add in for Oracle E-Businesss suite form

    I would like to create a Pop-up input box add in for Oracle E-Businesss suite form that will take in a barcode value and write it to a database table. I want to make a form/routine that can be used by any existing form in the E-businees suite that I want.
    Any idea how to get started with this. I am a .NET developer, not an oracle foms developer. Any help is appreciated.

    There are very strict restrictions on what you can do with E-business forms. I'd think you'd be better off asking this question in the E-biz forum

  • Error BACKINT for Oracle Connection

    hi @ maxdb gurus...
    i have a problem backing up my maxdb 7.6.0.033 (serving for a mysap.erp2005 on aix 5.3) using the backint mechanism.
    -> backup media created: two pipes and one parallel medium containing these pipes
    -> bsi.env has been created
    -> backint4sapdb.sar contains
       4 staging areas each with 4096 MB
       files per backint call 2
    -> maxdb is about 57 gb perm. data area (and 6 gb temp.)
    i use the backup wizard (dbmgui) to invoke a complete data backup which starts (pipes are created in the file system) and runs until approx. 4 gb...then the backup terminates with error "-24920 backup operation was unsuccesful. The database request failed with error -8020"
    what might be the problem? are the staging areas too small? is says that when using only one stage area it must hold the complete database...can i then conclude that 4 staging areas must hold the database as well - meaning they must be around 15 gb each?
    GreetZ, AH

    yup...but that also means that the sum of the staging areas need as much space as the database ie. around 70 gigs netto! the staging files will be filled and thus grow until the defined size, meaning that the file system(s) need to be big enough!
    everything works fine until the stage files are filled (up to the defined size) and then stops...when i change the sizes of the staging areas i can reproduce the error!
    i compared the tsm implementation of that system with another system (live cache...kind of small regarding db size...) and found nothing serious...

  • How to validate the input parameters in Oracle BI Publisher reports

    Hi
    i am new to Oracle BI Publisher
    I am using OBI for generating simple reports.
    here i need validation for input parameters (Date Parameter) and also want to disable the Date filed so that user can select through the calendar component.
    Here validation in the sense, the system must validate the date and alert the user with an appropriate message
    Can anyone please provide me the solution in detail.
    Thanks in advance
    Edited by: user10185520 on Aug 26, 2008 6:15 AM

    I have the same task to validate input parameters with Oracle BI Publisher 5.6.3 running under Oracle eBS 10.5.10.2. My validation goes beyond of what I can do during parameter registration. I am using Data Templates.
    My first logical place was the before report trigger. So, I built a report trigger which returns 'false' in case the parameters are not proper. Guess what... XMLP just returns a hard-coded message
    !!Error : trigger '" + datatrigger.getName() + "' returns status as 'false'
    First of all, this is a bad style to hardcode messages visible by the user (especially during French implementation). Second of all, it is not informative at all. It would be nice to change oracle.apps.xdo.dataengine.XMLPGEN.executeTrigger() to read, for example, a message from the message stack when the trigger returns 'false' and let the user read it.
    Anyway, what I did was I built a special data group, decalred before any other data group, query like
    select my_package.my_validation fro dual
    If parameters fail the validation my PL/SQL package throws an application exception with a message. At least, in this case the error message gets available as the description of the concurrent request.
    I wish the before report trigger worked!!!

  • How to choose a right server for Oracle Database!

    Hi all,
    Is there any formular that allows me to find the appropriate server configuration for Oracle database 11g?
    Please help!
    Thank you all.
    Dan.
    Edited by: Dan on 01:45 06-01-2013

    Simply put ... no.
    Determining the correct server is a dance between hardware vendors (one point of input to be treated with general distrust), internal expertise and experience working with similar systems, and most importantly understanding the behaviour of what you are building.
    Here are some sample questions to start the ball rolling.
    1. What operating system expertise does your organization have?
    2. What operating system expertise is readily available in the community from which you hire applicants?
    3. What type of application?
    4. What are up-time expectations?
    5. Requirements for high availability?
    6. Requirements for time to perform a full recovery?
    7. Requirements for security?
    8. Storage footprint (dictates internal storage versus SAN, NAS, or ZFS)
    9. Anticipated growth (3-7 years)
    Everyone wants to sell you CPU clock-ticks, more RAM, more IOPS, etc. But the first thing you need to understand is the capabilities you require that are generic: Required of any solution. Only when you have a clear understanding of these factors are you ready to discuss whether the solution is a pizza box or an ODA ... an Exadata or an IBM System Z.
    Far too often I find people purchasing RAM they don't need with CPU speeds that exceed the ability of their network infrastructure to move the data so pay special attention when you are ready to make your purchase to engineered systems like the ODA.

    Questions:
    1. Does extproc for Oracle 64-bit 11.1.0.7 on Win 2003 64-bit load 32 bit DLL?
    2. When searched got a quite of lot link about extproc32 (for all versions of UNIX), but not for Windows and found this link Extproc32 installation Does that mean it is not possible to load 32-bit DLL on 64-bit Windows installation?
    3. Is there any workarounds? Or am I stumped so I should now go back and reinstate the 32-bit installation?
    Any input / recommendation is appreciated!!

  • I need some simple examples to start with for Oracle ESB

    Hi All,
    Please share some simple examples to startwith for Oracle ESB.
    I need to understand, what are the files are created, once created an ESB project.
    What is the use of the files how to edit them with out using JDeveloper.
    Iam trying to create a simple example.
    I would like to create a file which has only "HELLO" in that file, simple text file inside a folder "INPUT" in my c:\ drive.
    I wanted to create a ESB service which picks up the file and add a string to it like "HELLO" + "ESB" and drop this file into "OUTPUT" folder in c:\ drive.
    How do i do that. I tried to do it when i deploy the integration server connection is gettting hit badly. I dont see that connection any more and i dont see that connection in my JDeveloper.
    I dont want to start with existing code.
    Please help

    Hi,
    If you want to do it from scratch you can basically do the following:
    Make sure you have created an application server and integration server connection in JDeveloper.
    1) Create a new JDeveloper project of type ESB project.
    2) Possibly add a ESB System/Group (open the esb file and click "Create System/Group") to group ESB projects.
    3) Create an XML schema describing your input XML file. Probably one element of type xsd:string.
    4) Create an example XML file which is well-formed and valid according to the XSD from step 3.
    5) Create a new File adapter (inbound/read). A routing service is automatically created.
    6) Create a new File adapter (outbound/write).
    7) Create a routing rule in the routing service in which you invoke the write method of the outbound file adapter. Possibly add a transformation using the XSL mapper.
    8) Deploy the ESB project to the server.
    9) Drop your XML file (from step 4) in the directory in which the inbound file adapter is polling.
    10) If it is ok, the file should be picked up, transformed and dropped in the outbound directory. A new ESB instance should be visible in the ESB console.
    See what files are generated on the filesystem in each of the above steps.

  • Validation of input parameters in Oracle BI Publisher reports

    Hi
    I am new to Oracle Bi Publisher.
    In my project i am using oracle BIPfor generating simple reports.
    here i need validation for input parameters (Date field) and i want to make it (Date field) disable, so that user can select the date through the Calendar component only.
    Can anyone please provide me the solution in detail, it is urgent.

    !!Error : trigger '" + datatrigger.getName() + "' returns status as 'false'

  • Date Format on OWB 11.1.0.7 to use for input parameter for a mapping

    All,
    What is the Date Format on OWB 11.1.0.7 to use for passing in an input parameter for a mapping to execute?
    I have tried '01-01-2010','01-JAN-2010','01.01.2010', 01/01/2010 and I get the following error:
    Error RPE-01003: An infrastructure condition prevented the request from completing.
    Error RPE-01038: Failed to evaluate expression declare l_expression DATE := 01/01/2010;begin :result := wb_rt_conversions.from_date(l_expression);end;. Please modify the expression, redeploy and retry again.

    I am using a Mapping Input parameter object and have a START_DATE_IN as a DATE and an END_DATE_IN as a DATE
    Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Shaun

    Hello Shaun,
    The function wb_rt_conversions.from_date is (at least in OWB10.2) overloaded and can with input-types as
    date, timestamp_unconstrained, timestamp_tz_unconstrained, timestamp_ltz_unconstrained or varchar2.
    If it doesn't work with varchar2 I would try Date:
    For example: to_date('2010-01-01','YYYY-MM-DD')
    I also found this thread:

  • Oracle 10g AS  pacth for Oracle Apps 11i

    Hi everyone,
    I have installed Oracle 10g AS (10.1.2.0.2) for Oracle Business Intelligence on Sun Solaris 10 (64 bit) and integrated it with Oracle Apps 11i (11.5.10.2).
    Everything seems fine but i am facing problems like
    1) Toolbars not appearing correctly sometimes like it is disabled and enables by itself.
    2)sometimes clients come accross "Connection with Server lost..." error while taking export (very few).
    3) Its giving the error (mentioned at the end) only on one client machine while taking export to Excel.
    I have tried installing Oracle 10g AS patch set 2 10.1.2.2 for Solaris but the problem persisits. Is patch set 2 compatible or certified with Oracle Apps 11i? if not then is there any other work around or do i have to wait for some new patch.
    Thanx for your inputs.

    Hi
    The last I heard is that 10.1.2.2 is not yet certified for use against E-Business Suite unless your operating system is Linux. Please take a look at this posting on Steven Chan's blog: http://blogs.oracle.com/schan/2007/04/23
    The issues you are encountering, particularly the one with the toolbars disappearing, were fixed in patch 5345528 as described on my blog here: http://learndiscoverer.blogspot.com/2006/08/more-to-toolbar-icons-graying-out.html
    I would advise you to go for this patch first until Oracle certify 10.1.2.2. for Sun.
    Best wishes
    Michael

    Hi Gurus,
    I am trying to mask the secured column from the table for one specified user, Here is the detail of DB and code which I am using to apply the security:

    Any one please help me to resolve the issue.
    Thanks in Advance.
    ~Krishna Nand Singh

    Hi Every one,
    I got this issue resolved.
    The issue is with parameter object_schema => 'APPS' , the object schema name is 'HR' and APPS has synonym with the same name.
    The Correct code should be:
    BEGIN
    DBMS_RLS.ADD_POLICY(
    object_schema => 'HR',
    object_name => 'PER_ALL_PEOPLE_F',
    policy_name => 'secure_emp',
    policy_function => 'kr_sec_function_papf',
    statement_types => 'SELECT',
    sec_relevant_cols=>'NATIONAL_IDENTIFIER',
    sec_relevant_cols_opt=>DBMS_RLS.ALL_ROWS);
    END;
    Thanks,

  • Web Services Test Page: No input fields for SOAP header parameters?

    Hello,
    we're using OracleAS / OC4J 10.1.3.1 and have developed a web service that has some self defined SOAP header parameters.
    I would like to use the Web Services Test Page provided by the OAS but it seems that there is no opportunity
    to provide input values for these SOAP header parameters.
    Do I miss something there or is it not supported by OAS?
    I've read the documentation but could not find a clue.
    any help is appreciated,
    Regards,
    Martin

    I hear you. As you have probably heard, OC4J is being replaced by WebLogic Server and the 10.1.3.x releases are the last that will be produced. We'll do maintenance on it of course, but little/no new feature work. This would be a new feature we'd have to add, so I'm afraid there's not much chance in having it done.
    It's not ideal, and of course more work for you, but if you want to provide your client with a test page that exposes the SOAP headers as form fields, you could always develop and ship one yourself.

  • Configuring Web Services for Oracle XML DB

    Hi all...
    I think I need some help one this subject....
    We have a 10G Release 2 Oracle single instance ( not RAC) install on a Linux Redhat v5.3 64 bit server. Are developers are user Visual Studio .Net and wnat to send xml files to a web service so that the xml file (containing data) can call a PL/SQL package (to be written) which will take the data out of the xml input file and insert rows into a prefined table within the instance. Now they have browsed the web and have come upon the following links...
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28369/xdb_web_services.htm
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28369/xdb22pro.htm#i1026724
    Currently, within the database I looked at the schema XDB and have unlocked the account and connected as the user XDB. There are some 680 objects in the following groups...
    SQL> select object_type, count(*) from dba_objects where owner='XDB' group by object_type;
    OBJECT_TYPE COUNT(*)
    SEQUENCE 2
    PROCEDURE 5
    OPERATOR 8
    LOB 334
    LIBRARY 12
    PACKAGE 20
    PACKAGE BODY 17
    XML SCHEMA 25
    TYPE BODY 5
    TRIGGER 12
    TABLE 36
    INDEX 51
    FUNCTION 5
    INDEXTYPE 2
    VIEW 2
    TYPE 144
    16 rows selected.
    Now in the links above it mentions that the xdbconfig.xml needs to be altered etc. However, I have searched the entire $ORACLE_HOME and there is no file definition of that description.
    From a DBA prospective...what do I have to install on the Linux server? I assume from the Oracle Database 10g Companion Products I need to lay down Oracle HTTP Server in a new Oracle home as the first step...or not? Does the HTML DB need to be installed as well?
    And for Configuring Web Services for Oracle XML DB...what else has to be installed? And from what product line?
    Thanks in Advance....
    Cheers
    Roegr

    Hi Marco...
    First of all ...thanks for the reply.
    I followed the link and the infor in that web page. However, there were a few things that did not work....
    1. The http://localhost:8080/ as is brought up a web page withe the heading as
    ==========
    ORACLE DATABASE 10g EXPRESS EDITION LICENSE AGREEMENT..
    ==========
    The other browser test ftp://localhost:2100/
    did not find any page?
    2. Then I went onto running (as the sysdba) the pl/sql to enable the ORAWSV Entry Service
    however it error out. So I did a describe on DBMS_XDB and the function deleteServlet does not appear
    then I had a look and this link to > http://www.liberidu.com/blog/?p=471
    was for 11G and the other link > http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28369.pdf
    was for 11G.
    However, we are on 10G

    of Oracle (are their additional things I need to load in Oracle to support it using
    the RDBMS realm). Is there a way I can disable the security realm to at least get
    the server up-and-running (via the web.xml). I've installed and reinstalled many
    times, trying various combinations of things.
    Any help would be hugely appreciated!
    Thanks,

    I finally found this bug in the release notes, i'm surprised one of the bea guys couldn't
    answer this....

    You probably followed the instructions too closely. I had the same
    problem,
    due to
    something that's not quite a "bug" in the installation instructions.Look
    back at
    the section "Update Settings for the RDBMS Security Realm" in thedeployment
    guide
    (http://edocs.bea.com/wlp/docs40/deploygd/oraclnew.htm#1039294).
    In the table in step 2, they show the URL on top, and the Driverclassname
    underneath
    it. HOWEVER... on the actual data screen, the Driver is on top and the
    URL is underneath
    it. If you're not being very very careful, it's easy to swap thesetwo
    values
    and put the URL in the Driver input box and the Driver in the URL input
    box. Make
    sure you haven't accidentally done this; if you have, you can stillchange
    this in
    the config.xml file (do a text search for an element RDBMSRealm withan
    "name" attribute
    of "wlcsRealm").
    Verify that it looks like this:
    <RDBMSRealm DatabaseDriver="weblogic.jdbc.oci.Driver"
    DatabaseURL="jdbc:weblogic:oracle"
    Name="wlcsRealm"
    and not this:
    <RDBMSRealm DatabaseDriver="jdbc:weblogic:oracle"
    DatabaseURL="weblogic.jdbc.oci.Driver"
    Name="wlcsRealm"
    Very subtle gotcha...

  • Using ZFS for Oracle RAC 11gR2 binaries

    Hi,
    We have following scenario,
    Two Node Cluster: Oracle RAC 11Gr2 with Clusterware on Solaris 10
    We want to keep Oracle & Clusterware binaries on ZFS mirror file system on each node locally and for Data files, FRA, Voting disks & OCR on shared SAN using ASM.
    My question, is the above scenario certified by Oracle or can we keep Oracle binaries on ZFS...?
    Will appreciate your input.
    Thanks

    Well my confusion started after reading this doc on oracle support:
    Certification of Zeta File System (Zfs) On Solaris 10 for Oracle RDBMS [ID 403202.1]
    "Oracle database 10gR2 (10.2.0.3 and higher patches), 11gR1 (11.1.0.6 and higher patches) and 11gR2 (11.2.0.1 and higher patches) are certified with Solaris 10 ZFS on Sparc 64-bit and Solaris x84-64. See Solaris ZFS_Best_Practices_Guide. This is for single instance ONLY. ZFS is currently not applicable to RAC and not Certified to use it as a shared filesystem."
