Essbase  log files

Does anyone know what the info codes are at the end of the various lines in the Essbase log files. eg: [Wed Oct 22 08:18:17 2003]Local/ESSBASE0///Info(1051164)- id like to understand what "info (1051164)" is

If you have licensed the Essbase API, on your essbase server there should be an essbase\api\include folder. In that folder there should be a file called message.txt that has a list of all the codes and messages associated with them.If you have a newer version of Essbase, some of the messages are documented in greater detail in an html document in the docs folder of the Essbase server. Look for /essbase/docs/errmsgs/erhelp.htm (or something like that).Good luck,Bruce

  • Delete essbase log file daily

    Hi
    I would like essbase to delete application log file each day,
    how can I do it?
    Thx

    How about the CLEARLOGFILE Essbase.cfg file setting?
    Setting it to TRUE will overwrite the Essbase server and application logs whenever Essbase is restarted.
    Also, there's a EXCEPTIONLOGOVERWRITE setting that allows the overwrite of .xcp files.
    Both of these can be found in the Technical Reference guide.

  • Where are SmartView BI+ Content Independent Provider Log Files

    We are on Oracle/Hyperion v11.1.1.3 (BI/Foundation/Planning Services on Solaris Unix; Weblogic; Essbase on Windows).
    Our users have created some MS Powepoint presentations that contain pages that run a Financial Report (FR) which queries data from a planning application using a "Hyperion Reporting and Analysis" Independent provider connection (example: "http://server_name:19000/workspace/browse/listxml").
    I am unable to find the location of the log files that shows where logon/activity is tracked. We have looked and only find tracing information from Essbase log files when the query runs and authentication happens at the Essbase level but need to find where the other log information (including APS service activity) is logged to.
    Thanks.

    Hello Masters,
    I am trying to change Essbase log file location from default location to new location. this is our internal requriement.
    Existing Log location:
    ../app/hyperion/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/epmsystem1/diagnostics/logs
    Desired New Log Location:
    ../app/essbase/logs
    To do the change, We are modifying logging.xml file at ../app/essbase/EssbaseServer/essbaseserver1/bin
    In the logging.xml file, changed the path parameter value from old location to new location. But, still the log files are creating in the old location.
    Please share me your experiences if anyone already did it and let me know do I need to do any specific steps after modification.

  • Essbase 7.1 no line separation on log files

    We have recently upgraded to Essbase 7.1We have the DELIMITEDMSG TRUE entry in our essbase.cfg file.Since the upgrade to 7.1 the log files for each application no longer have a CR/LF at the end of each entry.They are just run together into an extremely long line.However, when we look at the application window on the Essbase server the messages appear on separate lines.Has anyone else run into this problem?Is there a new essbase.cfg setting that we need to use?We take the log file for each application and load it into a logfile cube each month and this becomes very difficult if each message is not on it's own line in the file.Any help would be appreciated.

    You could create a maxl script that replaces the filters, when you call the maxl script you could pass in a variable such as YR08 and use that variable in the script.
    Cheers

    I know that in ASO, each parent should have at least one child that aggregate with +.Did you make sure that the members properties are OK (i.e. not all children at ~) ?Not respecting this prevent from saving the Outline.If you want to keep ~ for all children, then the parent should be Label Only.I hope this helps.Denis

  • Essbase Log to a Cube

    I am looking for a download that was there on Hyperion forum download before Oracle buy out or some where. The download kit was to load Essbase Log to an Essbase Cube to help analyze the activity. Kit includes .rul file and base outline structure etc.
    I will highly appreciate if anybody knows where to get it. Thanks in advance.
    I know if I can spend some time I can development it but I would like use download kit rather than re-inventing the "wheel".

    Hi Rajsheel,
    I also required the above mentioned application code for essbase log analyse and purging activities.
    Can you please let me know about some concepts to purge the Essbase logs.
    my mail id is [email protected]

  • How to Create a batch file to display and count specific words in log file

    Hi All,
    I have requirement Program to be written that will go through a log file and look for following key words.
    Unexpected Essbase error
    And also it will count the # of times the word error appear in a log file.
    You may use batch file or Perl script to complete this task.
    e.g. in the log file - It will flag yes that keyword "Unexpected Essbase error" found and word error occurs 9 times.
    Pls help me in know process to achieve above requirement.
    and pls let me know what is perl scripting ?
    Thanks in Advance
    Regards,
    SM

    Sorry but it sounds like you have been asked to do something and you have pasted the requirement on the forum, have you done any research to find out which scripting language you are going to use or any find examples, there are so many differents examples and help on the internet it just takes a little bit of time and investment.

  • Log file variables

    Hi
    I am taking the following steps to try to generate my log file from an ODI variable:
    1. Create an ODI variable say called ESSBASELOG, give it a path and file e.g. D:\ODI\Errors\Essbase\essload.err
    2. In your interface in the KM options for the log filename enter #ESSBASELOG.
    3. Create a package, drag the variable and set it to declare, drag the interface, join them up, execute.
    But for some reason, the path is not recognised, and instead the log file is generated in the ODI bin directory with the variable name as the log name ie.#ESSBASELOG.
    Can anyone suggest what I should try to resolve this?
    Cheers

    Hi,
    Qualify your variable name with your project code .
    i.e #<PROJECT_CODE>.<VARIABLE_NAME>
    Thanks,
    Sutirtha

  • E-mail alerts in planning & essbase log

    Hi All,
    1).How to get the e-mail alerts in planning .
    2).where can we find in detail log file in Essbase.
    Bunny

    Hi,
    To set up e-mail for workflow notification.
    In planning - Administration > Application Settings
    Under System Settings in the E-mail Server box - enter the smtp server information.
    essbase.log will be in arborpath directory e.g. C:\hyperion\AnalyticServices\essbase.log
    Also there is a log file for each application. e.g. C:\hyperion\AnalyticServices\app\Sample\Sample.log
    Cheers

  • How to manually write log file when tranform xslt by using Transformer?

    I want to ask experts that are there any way to write the information(such as template name or number of template used) into log file while performing transformation with javax.xml.transform.Transformer.
    Below is my sample code
    import javax.xml.transform.Result;
    import javax.xml.transform.Source;
    import javax.xml.transform.Transformer;
    // declare and assign value of transform, source, and result
    transformer.transform(source, result);
    Thanks for advance

    I think it will be from FDM, if I remember correctly FDM will generate a text file in the background and then load data into essbase using the text file.
    The codes at each line are standard essbase generated codes which relate to an operation e.g. 1013162 = Received Command [Calculate] from user [%s] using [%s]
    If you have a search on the web you will be able to find a full list of codes from numerous locations.
    Cheers

  • Routing logs to individual log file in multi rules_file MaxL

    Hi Gurus,
    I have been pretty late to this forum after long time. I have a situation here, and trying to find out the best way for operational benefits.
    We have an ASO cube (Historical) keeps 24 months snapshot data and refreshed monthly just like last 24 months rolling. The cube size is around 18.5 GB. The input level data size is around 13 GB. For monthly refresh the current process rebuilds the cube from scratch, deletes the 1/24 snapshot as it is going to add last months snapshot. The entire process takes 13 hours of processing time becuase the server doesn't have number of CPUs to support parallel operations.
    Since we recently moved to 11.1.2.3, and have ample amounts of CPUs(8) and RAM (16gb), I'd like to take davantage of parallelism, and will go for incremental load. Prior to that since the outline build is EPMA driven I'd only like to rebuild the dimension with all data, essentially restructures the DB, with data after metadata refresh, so that I can keep my history intact, and only proceed for loading the last month's data after clearing out the 1st snapshot.
    My MaxL script looks like below:
    /* Set up logs */
    set timestamp on;
    spool on to $(mxlLog).log;
    /* Connect to Essbase */
    login $key $essUser $key $essPwd on $essServer;
    alter application "$essApp" load database "$essDB";
    /* Disable User Access to DB */
    alter application "$essApp" disable connects;
    /* Unlock all objects */
    alter database "$essApp"."$essDB" unlock all objects;
    /* Clear all data for previous month*/
    alter database "$essApp"."$essDB" clear data in region 'CrossJoin({([ACTUAL])},{[&CLEAR_PERIOD]})' physical;
    /* Load SQL Data */
    import database "$essApp"."$essDB" data connect as $key $edsUser identified by $key $edsPwd using multiple rules_file 'LOADDATA','LOADJNLS','LOADFX','LOAD_J1','LOAD_J2','LOAD_J3','LOADDELQ' to load_buffer_block starting with buffer_id 1 on error write to "$(mxlLog)_LOADDATA.err";
    /* Selects and build an aggregation that permits the database to grow by no more than 300% */
    execute aggregate process on database "$essApp"."$essDB" stopping when total_size exceeds 4 enable alternate_rollups;
    /* build query tracking views */
    execute aggregate build on database "$essApp"."$essDB" using view_file 'gw';
    /* Enable Query Tracking */
    alter database "$essApp"."$essDB" enable query_tracking;
    /* Enable User Access to DB */
    alter application "$essApp" enable connects;
    logout;
    exit;
    I am able to achive performance but not satisfactory. So I have couple of queries below.
    1. Whether bule shaded codes can further be tuned. I have major problem in clearing only 1 month snapshot : where I require to clear one scenario and the designated 1st month.
    2. Multiple rules_file statement, how do I write logs of each load rule to separte log files instead one, my previous process is wrting error-log for each load rule in separte log file and consolidates at the end of batch run to a single file for the whole batch execution.
    Apprecaite any help in this regrad.
    Thanks,
    DD

    Thanks Celvin. I'd rather route MaxL logs in one log file and consolidate into the batch logs instead of using
    multiple log files.
    Regrading Partial Clear:
    My worry is, I first tried partial clear with 'logical', that too took considerable amonut of time, and the
    difference between logical and physical clear is only 15-20 minutes. FYI, I have 31 dimensions in this cube,
    and the MDX clear script that use Scenario->ACTUAL and Period->&CLEAR_PERIOD (SubVar) is of dynamic hierarchy
    type.
    Is there a way I can rewrite the clear data MDX script in betterway  so that it will clear faster, than this
    <<CrossJoin({([ACTUAL])},{[&CLEAR_PERIOD]})>>
    Does this clear MDX have any effect on dynamic/stored hierarchy nature of the dimension, if not, then what
    would be optimized way to write this MDX?
    Thanks,
    DD

    "Set Currency Database [CUREISRI] failed: see server log file"
    in the server log we cann see the following messages:

    Cannot load application EIS_RI with error number [1013108] - see server log file
    Network error [32]: Cannot Send Data
    - This version of Essbase (65400)
    i'm newbie to essbase and i don't found any info about the above error neither in the Internet nor in the oracle essbase documentation.
    thanks in advance for your help.

    So.... I've never used the Currency stuff before... but -- should the Q4.08 member exist in that database? As far as I can see that seems to be crux of the issue.
