ESSBASE v6.5 Database Migration .OCX error

Hello Guys,
We are running ESSBASE v6.5.
We are trying to move our databases from one server (win 2000) to another server (win 2003 sp2)
Here are the steps we followed
Install Server
Copy the database metadata and application metadata (folders) from the current to new box
Copy the index page files for all the databses from current to new box
Copy paste the essbase.sec and essbase.cfg to the new server
When we try to start the application and the database.
The application starts o.k. but the database errors out creating a .ocx file.
Anyone has any ideas to debug the issue or if there is a better way of creating a copy of our existing ESSBASE server?
Thanks in advance.

wow, still on 6.5. I would suggest that you create the applications and databases on the new server, then copy over the .otl, .rul and .csc (and if you have the .rpt) files. Before you copy over the objects, stop the applications. then export the data from the old system and import it on the new system. If that works ok, then stop the Essbase service on both servers and copy over the Essbase.sec and .cfg files. Now try starting the new server again and test your applications, Remember to backup the Essbase.sec on the new server file before you migrate security.
Copying the .pag , ind, esm, db files will sometimes work, but not always. At any rate even if you do try it that route, it is better to create the applications and databases on the new server first. If there are any differences in pathing at all, this won't work correctly as internally Essbase keeps path info.

  • How do I view Migrate Data errors - Access 2003 - Oracle 10g

    I'm trying to use the SQL Developer to migrate data from an Access 2003 database to an Oracle 10g database. I followed the instructions found here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/migration/workbench/files/omwb_getstarted.html
    I was able to complete every step except the actual data move. I exported the xml for the Access database, I captured the export and then ran the generation scripts on my target Oracle database (I'm using the same schema for the migration repository and the actual data). It created the tables with only one or two errors which I resolved.
    Now, when I select Migration->Migrate Data, I get the dialog that appears to start 4 or 5 threads and attempts to migrate each table. They all error and do not transfer any rows. I can see that there's one error per table, but I can't see the error text. I just know that an error occurred. Is there a log somewhere or is the error displayed somewhere else? How do I know what's gone wrong?
    Thanks.

    I too receive unexplained error counts using the Migrate Data menu selection and unexplained failures using the Generate Data Move Scripts menu selection. Permissions granted by role or direct grants should not be a problem, but a Migrate Data error appears in the Migration Log panel at the bottom of the SQL Developer window, "Failed to disable constraints: ORA-00942 ... ". No further details available on what constraints or why the error. No other errors were detected while following the instructions found in the Oracle SQL Developer Migration Workbench Getting Started guide. SQL Developer never migrates the data from the existing Access 2000 mdb file to the newly created schema objects in Oracle 10g using either method. The following roles and privileges have been granted to both the repository owner and the target schema owner:
    GRANT RESOURCE TO MIGRATE_USER WITH ADMIN OPTION;
    GRANT CONNECT TO MIGRATE_USER WITH ADMIN OPTION;
    ALTER USER MIGRATE_USER DEFAULT ROLE ALL;
    -- 25 System Privileges for MIGRATE_USER

    GRANT CREATE USER TO MIGRATE_USER WITH ADMIN OPTION;

    ALTER USER MIGRATE_USER QUOTA UNLIMITED ON USERS;
    Operating system for both Access 2000 and Oracle 10g is Windows XP PRO SP2.
    Oracle SQL Developer is version 1.1.2.25 build MAIN-25.79 on Windows XP PRO SP2. All three are on the same PC.
    Since only the last step failed, I created a User DSN with the ODBC administrator. Then, linked the newly created Oracle table to Access via ODBC using the DSN created. Next, I created an append query with the source being the Access table and the target being the Oracle table. I moved the data by pressing the red exclamation mark.

  • Can't get past OCX error when installing ODAC 11g on Windows Server 2003

    I have been trying to install ODAC 11g on Windows Server 2003 and can't get past the OCX error when registering oravsdbgeng11w.dll. I've read every message on this forum even remotely related to this problem and tried every solution offered. I have done a clean install into a new Oracle home, and made sure Instant Client is always included. All service packs and automatic updates have been installed. For what it's worth I have successfully installed ODAC 11g on Windows XP Pro.
    If anyone out there has been able to get this up and running and would care to share the wisdom that would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Michael, as you already noticed, every time I have seen this issue it has been because ODT was being installed into an Oracle home where no client exists, or perhaps installed into an old oracle home where the client was an old version (eg Oracle10), or the client was broken. Usually though, the user unchecked the instant client checkbox during the ODAC install.
    So you say you checked instant client and you still got the error? That doesn't add up...
    Are you using 32-bit windows? If you are using 64 bit windows be sure to tell us.
    Why don't you try avoiding using instant client at all, in case it is somehow not getting installed properly.
    You can do this as follows:
    1) Under the download links on OTN, go to the database download page.
    2) Download the Oracle Database client 11g for Microsoft Windows
    3) Run this installer and Install ODP.NET 1.x and 2.x into a new Oracle home from this client install, but nothing else. If ODP.NET is not listed there (it has been a long time since I looked at that) than just install a minimal Oracle client install.
    4) Close the installer
    5) Go back and install ODAC and this time choose "Oracle Server" radio button during the install (rather than the client install)
    6) Install ODT and ODP.NET at least and be sure they are being installed into the Oracle home created in the first steps above.
    This will avoid use of Instant Client and will hopefully avoid the OCX error. Let me know if this solves your problem.

  • Unable to login to SAP B1 after database migration

    I would like to know how to login to SAP B1 after database migration. I export data from MSSQL 2005 and import data to MSSQL 2008 which is located in different server. I failed to login to SAP B1 with both current password and default password. It will prompt me the error 'User code or password is incorrect'. Is there any other login ID(current user ID is manager) or how I can change the password? Or is there any other way to transfer or migrate the database to a new server?

    hi,
    i am afraid your database is corrupted, try to make a full database backup from your SQL 2005 then restore it to your SQL 2008. also you can try another method, by detaching your Database from 2005 then copy the .MDF and .LDF then copy this 2 files in your new server, put it in your desired directory, then from your SQL 2008, attached the Database.
    also, have one question, is your SA account in 2008 and 2005 have the same password? it must be the same.
    regards,
    Fidel

    We have the CPU set to x86 as we are ultimately trying to generate a 32 bit app for XP and Win 7. We only installed the 32 bit run time on this pc because we have no intention of going to 64 bit apps on the clients. Are there additional dlls or something that has to be installed in the same folder as the exe on this development machine.
    Bruce

    Looking at the AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive\AppCrash_myprograminfo led us to the last dll loaded being:
    LoadedModule[211]=C:\Program Files\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0\Common\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x86\crdb_adoplus_res_en.dll
    State[0].Key=Transport.DoneStage1
    State[0].Value=1
    FriendlyEventName=Stopped working
    Scanning the community for "crdb_adoplus_res_en.dll" we got a hot on this issue again:
    Failed to load database information. Error in File temp_
    From the above we found this:
    1. the app.exe.config is all in one package which cannot be separated with the EXE file.
    2. the supporting component such as dll files, app.exe.config etc CANNOT be combined into the EXE file
    Adding the cr3Test.exe.config to the same folder as the cr3Test.exe RESOLVED the problem on Win 7. It also RESOLVED the problem on Server 2012 R2.
    We still need to test on Server 2008 R2 but we are hopeful when that time comes.
    Thanks.

  • Oracle E-business suite database migrate from AIX to Linux

    Oracle 11i application database migration from single Aix instance to oracle Linux cluster RAC.
    What is the easy way to migrate?
    Migrate single instance from aix to linux cluster.
    OR
    Migrate single instance from aix to linux cluster RAC.
    We have installed oracle Linux cluster.
    Please help me which way I can go with RAC.
    Thanks
    Prince

    Migrating to a single instance will be the simplest. The migration itself will not be much different between the two because you're migrating from one platform to another. The options you have available are, the traditional IMP/EXP, datapump, and RMAN to migrate to either a standalone or RAC environment. The difficulty will be in creating a RAC environment and a little a few extra steps in the RMAN restore. Working with RAC will make things harder, but the actual migration is similar. The steps to IMP/EXP, whether it's traditional or Datapump will be no different. However, standing up a RAC database will be.

  • Best practice for database migration in 11g

    Hello,
    Database migration is required due to OS change.  Here, I have two database instances say A and B in the old server where RDBMS_VERSION is 11.1.0.7.0. They need to be migrated into a new OS where the oracle has been installed with version 11.2.0.2.0.
    Since all data + objects need to be migrated into the new server, I want to know what the best practice is and how to do that. Thanks in advance for your necessary guidance.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Prosenjit

    Hi Prosenjit,
    you have some options.
    1. RMAN Restore: you can restore your database via rman to the new host, and then upgrade it.
        Please follow instruction from MOS Note: RMAN Restore of Backups as Part of a Database Upgrade (Doc ID 790559.1)
    2. Data Guard: check the MOS Note: Mixed Oracle Version support with Data Guard Redo Transport Services (Doc ID 785347.1)
    3. Full Export / Import (DataPump)

  • Database Connection Lost Error

    Hi,
    MyScenario is :
    We send a query to database A collect resultset in java mapping and transform it to three more Select queries and send them to Database B So two chanels are there:
    Sender JDBC channel, Receiver JDBC Channel.
    Now the Output of Database B is converted to IDOC and sent to R/3 System.
    This is working fine, but sometime it stuck at Database B saying error "connection Lost". And works fine afterwards.But in that case we miss the records which could not be processed.
    What can be the reason for this ? Please suggest the solution at teh earliest. Can overloading be the reason for losing connection. Please suggest...
    Thanks & Regards,
    Priyanka

    Hi Priyanka,
    You have to close the connection afte accessing the JDBC  "A".
    So that it could be accesed by others.
    Try to implement the suggetion given by sarvesh.
    If it still does not work then i would say you go for JDBC look ups.
    It will improve the performance as well.
    Thanks
