ESW 540 24 10/100/1000 POE Firmware upgrade

It seams a new firmware was issued on the cisco download site on january 11 :
ESW_540_K9_2.1.16.zip
I have succesfully downloaded this file, but each time I try to unzip it, I get an error.
I have tried to download it several times, using different navigator and different pcs or macs and using the donwload manager or without it, and I get the same result.
Also the md5sum of the downloaded file is the one indicated on the download screen :

As this product is for the SMB market, I am unable to open a case on the Cisco site to ask for a working version.
Who is responsible for this and how to get a good version ?

I jumped into the middle of this and have some information to share.
Firmware release Notes:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/csbms/esw500/release_notes/Release_Note_2.1.16.pdf
states about the first table... (refer to the table):
In the table above the boot version is different for the 8 port models versus the 24 and 48 port models.
Software version 2.1.16 requires boot version 1.0.0.7 for the two 8 port models
esw520-8p-k9-2116.ros for ESW-520-8P
esw540-8p-k9-2116.ros for ESW-540-8P
The remaining 24 and 48 port models require boot version 1.0.0.4. if the switch does not have the boot version released in May 2008.
These are esw520-k9-2116.ros for
ESW-520-24P
ESW-520-24
ESW-520-48P
ESW-520-48

  • SGE2010P 48port Gigabit POE Firmware Upgrade fails

I have a Linksys SGE2010P 48 Port switch with POE and I cannot get the firmware to upgrade.
I have downloaded the firmware software from the site: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps9985/index.html
Everytime I run the EasyUpgrade application I get the error after it starts the Telnet session:
"Did not find device information. Application will terminate"
I cannot find any reason why this is happening. I know that I have a SGE2010P and I know that I am downloading the correct firmware.
    Am I missing something?

I am having the same issue where the "Easy upgrade" utility fails.  When I try to upgrade firmware via the Web GUI, I am able to upload the "Software Image" & when I click "Done" the Firmware Upgrade screen displays again without any status and/or notifications relating to the firmware that was just "successfully" uploaded (according to the screen at least).
I was able to successfully upgrade the Boot Version from : 2.0.0.00 to 2.0.0.03 with this same process so what is going on with the Firmware update?
It is as if the Firmware is uploading to the switch but the update is not running.
    Help!

  • 24 port or 48 Port 10/100/1000 with 4 POE

Hi I need to offer a solution to a cusotmer with 24 or 48 port 10/100/1000 switches with minimum 4 POE Ports
    DOes Cisco have this solution

4 ports only for PoE? I think buying a 24-port PoE is a very expensive choice. May I recommend you buy a 4-port mid-span PoE switch instead?
If you Google "mid-span" poe, you'll find a number of manufacturers.
Another thing I would like to know is what are you trying to connect? Mid-Span PoE ports comes in a variety of "flavours", some will give you STANDARD 15.4W (or less) power but there are some which can give you 20.0W or 30.0W of power per port.
Now, if you are still determined to get a PoE switch, I would like to determine from you, for a 48-port PoE switch, if you want ALL 48-ports capable of delivering PoE? If you say yes, then the only choice you've got is the WS-C3560-48PD-SF or WS-C3750E-48PD-SF.
    WS-C2975 (48 10/100/1000 PoE up to 24), WS-C2960G, WS-C3560G, WS-C3750 (24 OR 48 10/100/1000 PoE up to 24) are likely candidates.
    Hope this helps.

  • ESW 520 8-port - firmware upgrade

    Hi,
We have a ESW 520 8-port currently on firmware version 2.1.1.19 (boot version 1.0.0.07, VID V01) - Serial number CBT15100AN2
The latest firmware version is 2.1.1.21, which we downloaded and via Maintenance, Software Upgrade, via HTTP performed an upgrade to this latest version - the upgrade appears to complete, logs show successful however when we restart the switch it still shows as 2.1.1.19 . Very strange!
Can someone please advise how to get the upgrade to successfully apply?
    Kindest regards,
    Dale.

    David,
Thanks for such a question reply - I had tried that and after reboot still shows as 2.1.1.19
I decided to install the firmware upgarde again, change the active firmware to 2.1.1.21 again, restarted and this time it held.
Thank you for your assistance, all resolved.
    Cheers,
    Dale.

  • SA 540 Firmware Upgrade

I noticed that there was a new firmware upgrade available for the SA540 router.  From reading the release notes it appears that the new upgrade will reset the router to factory defaults and the recommended upgrade is to print off the pages that willl need to be manually reentered with previous information and then manually reenterthe information after the firmware upgrade.
This is quite a pain as the previous version upgrade required the same manual reentering of everything.  Is the upgrade path ever going to not require the manual reentering of information as this is getting a little old already or am I missing something in the upgrade procedures?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello and good evening,
I will forward your question to product managers.  More to come,

  • VLAN ESW-540

    Hi,
    I have a new switch ESW-540 24-port, I upgrade firmware to 2.1.19.
    I build 2 VLAN for 2 networks: VLAN 2 and VLAN 3 . I don't use the default VLAN 1.
    This is my configuration:
port e1 and e2 : ACCESS PORT on UNTTAGGED VLAN 2
port e3 and e4 : ACCESS PORT on UNTTAGGED VLAN 3
    port e1,e2,e3,e4: EXCLUDED VLAN 1
port e24: TRUNK PORT with UNTAGGED VLAN 1 and TAGGED VLAN 2 and VLAN 3
Communication (ping) between e1 and e2 --> OK
Communication (ping) between e3 and e4 --> OK
    Communication (ping) between e1,e2 and e24 --> NOK  :-(
    Communication (ping) between e3,e4 and e24 --> NOK  :-(
    Communication (ping) between e5,e6,e7,.... (VLAN1) and e24 --> OK
    Communication (ping) between e5,e6,e7,.... (VLAN1) and VLAN2, VLAN3 --> NOK - It's correct.
Any special configuration on e24 trunk port ????
    Can you help me ???
    Thanks,

    Hi Albert,
Bit concerned about your testing process.  You have proved that untagged switch ports in vlan 1 can communicate with e24.  that makes perfect sense.
What what are you using (connected on e24 )  to check for tagged packets egressing out of E24 from PCs connected on  vlan 2 and vlan 3.  This testing device you are using must be vlan aware.
    The switch port 24 must be connected to a VLAN aware router or layer 3 switch  that is trunked for ;
    vlan1 untagged
    vlan2 and vlan3 tagged.
So that routing can occur between vlans.
    regards Dave

  • ESW-540-24

    Dear Support Team,
What is the max power consumption of switches
    ESW-540-24
    Br,
    Lukasz

As of 22-Mar-2010, the ESW 500 series data-sheet and lack of a power-calculator still fails to meet the needs of installers who need to consider the power-draw and heat dissipation of the switches from the perspective of UPS and heat management.
The main shortcoming is that under the "Power" section, it just says "24- and 48-port models: 100-240V 47-63 Hz, internal, universal;"  This information isn't much use for even the simplest of calculations.  More usefully, it would provide a Volt-Amp (VA) rating.  One could then apply a rough-and-ready power-factor (60% according to UPS vendors), to get W = 0.6 * x VA for power needs, and W = 0.6 * (input VA - PoE VA) for heat needs (since the PoE wattage is mostly dissipated away from the swtich).
Happily, this thread provides the kind of raw information which the Cisco 'classic' power calculator is probably built from.  But it's still a real hassle that I had to go Googling for it instead of finding even the basics on the data-sheet, where it belongs.

  • Connecting Rv180w and D-Link 5-Port 10/100/1000 Switch DGS-1005G

This simple exercise has become a pain. I have a D-Link 5-Port 10/100/1000 Switch DGS-1005G connected to an old (10 years old) linksys 4 port router and it works fine. When I try to connect the switch to my new RV180W it appears dead...no connectivity lights at all. I cannot see an uplink port on the RV180w.....I have tried crossover cable still no joy. Am I missing something?

    Hi Tom,
Yes i am pretty sure, i have called 3S vision and confirmed it, also i conducted 3 test in 3 different switches last week and the camera worked just like that " Plug & Play ".
I have tested out 3 switches and they are :
    Cisco Switch 16 Port 10/100
    Netgear 8 port 10/100
    Cisco Switch 8 Port 10/100
I was able to view the camera and modify the settings, upgrade the firmware, etc. all worked, except this model !!!!
I am losing hope on this and we are considering buying another switch which would be a waste of money.
Is there is any possible way to enforce the port to read it?
Also i have noticed one thing, whenver i plug the Camera to SG300-28P switch, the camera has a small led in the motherboard which keeps blinking red when its connected. It is like its trying to boot but not able too.
I have until the end of the week, if this issue is not sorted out with this switch model, i will have to buy another one

Thanks to an automatic firmware upgrade my E4200 can no longer be accessed. Cisco is aware of this but have no solution yet.

Check if you are still getting the valid ip address from the router. Connect a pc to it and open command prompt and type-in ipconfig. If you are getting the 192.168.1.100 ip address on the local connection, try to ping the router (ping 192.168.1.1). If you are getting good replies then the router is good. If it will say request timed-out then reset the router back to defaults by pressing the reset button on it for 10 seconds.

  • Firmware Upgrade EA2700

    I have a Cisco Linksys EA2700 model.
i'm looking on if the firmware upgrade is a critical security upgrade, and if so, which download to i pick?
    http://support.linksys.com/en-us/support/routers/EA2700
my current firmware is : Firmware Version: 1.0.14
Normaly i don't like to consider touching the firmware of my $100 electronics, however today i found out the hard way that my router may be connecting to another in the neighborhood. I typo'ed a URL and a neighbors Linksys router came up (i recognized immediately it wasn't mine)
    wireless settings:
Network mode: Mixed Mode (at the b/g/n option)
Security Mode: WPA2/WPA (what ever that is)
Channel set to auto 20mhz 40mhz
    (windows 7 FFox browser interface)

Feel free to skip an upgrade if your router works fine. However, if a router is performing sluggishly, freezing unexpectedly or experiencing dropped connections, firmware upgrade often supplies a quick fix.

  • E71 Firmware Upgrade Step-by-Step (Undocumented Ti...

Although Nokia’s firmware upgrade claimed to be smooth using Nokia Suite, the fact it is not. There are many things which could interfere with the process. For example upgrading E71-1 firmware from 100.07.76 to 110.07.127 is not always trouble free. Based on experience, here are precautions to take:
    Before you begin:
    • Make sure your phone and computer/laptop are fully charged.
    • Make your personal data is backed up safely.
    • The BEST, FASTEST and EASIEST way of saving your personal data is making a copy of your phone memory on a memory card. Choose Tools > Memory > Options > Back up Phone Memory and wait until it will be competed.
    • Make sure Nokia PC Suite is not running.
    Upgrade Process Instructions:
    1. Download and install latest “NokiaSoftwareUpdater” http://europe.nokia.com/A4579163 .Reboot if required.
    2. Disable Antivirus or any other interrogative software on your PC.
    3. Launch “NokiaSoftwareUpdater” and follow instructions
    4. When prompted, connect your phone, in this case E71.
    5. A 3-step process will start, identifying your phone, downloading latest firmware and upgrading to latest firmware. (a process of 15 min.)
Following those instructions will ensure a hassle-free upgrade.
    Good luck.

I have a related issue on my E71-3 (New Zealand).  Since moving to Firmware 501.21.001 contacts I have in 1-touch keep dropping off - not all, just the odd one here & there.  In addition, the group ring tones for the same contacts are dropping off.  Very odd.  Most frequently it is my partners number impacted, which is why the issue stands out to me ...  On start up, I'm now getting a message saying not all applications can be loaded from the memory card - on checking app manager, they are all loaded ... Anyone else having these issues?
iPhone 4 is looking more & more tempting by the day ;-p

  • Esw-540-48 - direclty connected to port 34, still no MAC in ARP table

    Hi all,
    I have a ESW-540-48 with firmware 2.1.21 (latest)
I have the strangest problem: I can 't find the MAC address of a computer plugged directly on the switch in the ARP table.
I'm trying to search by MAC address, and also by port .
If I reboot the switch, it does work as expected.
Do you think it is software related, and in this case is there anything planned to solve this problem ?
Or maybe I should just replace my hardware ?
    Thanks

Hi Firco, it may be possible it is a smart port issue. The ESW switches are very particular to use the correct smart port roles for the connecting devices. I don't think a hardware replacement is warranted unless the given ports absolutely failed to forward.
As a secondary thought, it could also be a spanning tree issue. Ensure you're using RSTP and/or the host ports have port fast enabled. If using classic spanning tree it takes nearly a minute for a port to go to forwarding state. You can disable spanning tree on the port for testing to quickly rule that out.

  • Firmware upgrade for Three's E71?

I see there are several generic firmware upgrades around. My E71 was supplied by Three and reports:
    100.07.76 08-06-2008
    RM-346 E71-1 241.02
I believe upgrades should be authorised by the network. Is there a Three upgrade? Nokia's upgrade software says I have the latest version. Would the upgrader know about Three's upgrades?
    Thanks

When I talked to a Three customer service advisor, he told me you could only send email through Three's server, Hotmail, Yahoo! and MS Exchange. Having tested 4-5 mailers, I was about to report back that you can indeed send email through Gmail (and possibly others as well), bypassing Three's restrictions. Fortunately, Gmail now allows sending email through their smtp server using the From address of your choice (after registration and verification) -- until a few months ago, they automatically replaced the From address with your gmail address, which made the service useless for many of us.
In my experience, no serious ISP blocks port 25, quite rightly too. Three cannot know whether the remote smtp server you are trying to connect to implements authentication -- it is the responsibility of the remote smtp server admin to handle spam injections, by not offering open relaying. Three forcing users to send through its own smtp server messes up various things -- eg if you choose to occasionally connect through wifi or while roaming you would have to change the mailer's setup. Even if your ISP's server supports encryption, you are forced to send unencrypted email through Three. You can't make the most of IMAP setups ie having sent messages automatically stored in the Sent folder of your ISP's server. Three replaces your From address with your Three address as your messages go through its smtp server.
It is clear that all this is Three's idea of making money. If this kind of unacceptable restriction was really designed to block spam, they should (a) block all relevant ports, not just 25  (b) make sending email through Three's smtp server free, not charge £2.50 for three messages (c) not replace your From address with your Three address automatically and (d) make all this clear in the terms and conditions. When I brought (d) to their attention, they denied it but when I asked them to, they failed to point out where this restriction or the hidden charge is explained. Since then, I checked the T&Cs repeatedly and I cannot locate any mention. Even if there is one, the fact that I have been unable to locate it after repeated and targetted attempts says something. Which is why I consider the contract and the T&Cs null and void, and I will be reporting them to ASA and Trading Standards. So much for a company that claims the moral highground by advertising its transparency, leading public campaigns for cheaper calls etc.
BTW, I don't have any problems with their coverage.

  • Disappointed w E51 Firmware Upgrade

Good day! I have just upgraded my Nokia E51, with Product Code 0552354, from 100.34.36 to 200.34.36 firmware. The said upgrade finished successfully and confirmed through my phone by keying *#0000# in stand-by.
However, when I tried to update my Mail for Exchange inbox using a public WiFi as I have previously done, I keep encountering an error. The same public WiFi was detected and my phone says it is connected.
I tried browsing for google.com and after a few seconds of waiting, a "Web: No Gateway Reply" message.
When I got back to my desktop and queried for the error message I encountered, luckily or unluckily, tons of fellow Nokia users posted the same dilemma.
Does firmware upgrade sort of 'malfunctioned' my phone's WiFi functionality? If so, then what's the purpose of the upgrade?
I contacted Nokia Care via email and the response was to check my Wireless LAN settings by going to Tools > Settings > Connection> Wireless LAN > Options > Advance Settings > Changing advanced settings is not recommended. Continue anyway? > Yes > Automatic Config > Disabled > Power Saving > Disabled. Yet to no avail.
I find it VERY disappointing provided the fact that I chose this phone primarily because of it's WiFi feature. I don't have time to go to Nokia Care centers that is why I am consulting this board. Hope someone could give a response that could fix this issue... :-(

I just bought my E51 made the upgrades and I also get the "No Gateway reply" and it really ticks me off as I had to go through a lot of hassel to find my WEP key.

It should not be anything to do with branding if the update starts downloading, if the branding was an issue you wouldn't even get acces to the update.
There are conflicting stories about Nokia service points and debranding. It can only be done if the phone has had any SIM lock officially removed by the network, and the service point may in some cases ask for a letter from the operator stating their approval for the action to be taken. Service points are not required to offer this service and so may not do, and if they do it will be at your cost.
