Ethernet Trunk Setup on 4500 to support UCS

Looking for documentation that details the configuration steps needed to configure Port Channels and Trunking on a Cisco Catalyst 4500 and other Catalyst models to support the UCS 6100 Ethernet Uplinks. I have found all kinds of documents on creating the port-channel on UCS but am unable to find what needs to be done on the Network side to support UCS.

The most important thing to know is that UCS Fabric Interconnects only support LACP etherchannels for upstream port aggregation.
On the 4500 side, you'll want to do something like this:
Switch# configure terminal
Switch(config)# interface range fastethernet 5/6 - 7 (Note: Space is mandatory.)
Switch(config-if-range)# channel-group 2 mode active
Switch(config-if-range)# end
Switch# end
Let me know what questions you have about this.

  • QoS setup on SGE2010 to support VoIP trunks between PBXs

Folks, I'm stumped on how to configure QoS on my SGE2010 to support my Toshiba CIX PBX VoIP trunks.  The infrastructure is straight forward:
    PBX(1)<==>SGE2010(1)<==>SGE2010(2)<==>SGE2010(3)<==>PBX(2)
where PBX(1) and PBX(2) are connected through three SGE2010's that are trunked via fiber between buildings.  I don't have VoIP handsets and the PBX's are on their own VLAN.  Everything else has been a breeze in these switches but I have no experience with QoS and the admin guide doesn't help.
    Jim

    Tom,
I found this Cisco doc http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4500/12.1/19ew/configuration/guide/qos.pdf which helped me understand what you were saying and yes, that did clarify things.  So here is what I did:
    1) I reverted my config back to before I started messing around with QoS settings.
    2) I verified QoS was in Basic mode.
    3) I set the ports on each switch to CoS 5 which equates to DSCP 46.
    4) Didn't touch Queue and left Strict Priority in place.
    5) CoS to Queue defaulted CoS 5 to Queue 3.
    6) DSCP 46 is in fact assigned to queue 3 by default in the switch, as you stated, so no mismatches.
    7) No Bandwidth or VLAN Rate Limits were set.
The result of these settings should be ingress traffic from ports with CoS of 5 to receive strict priority and allocated first for egress.  As long as my QoS settings are identical for all switches between the PBX's, my VoIP traffic should have priority across the switch trunks.  Am I missing anything?

  • Airport Extreme with Gigabit Ethernet - Does it have jumbo frame support?

Please, can I get definite answer to this question? I do not need speculations as I read some reviews already. Can we have Apple finally put complete specification of the product rather than "popular one" with attachement of protocol numbers?
I just need simple answer possibly from Apple engineering team to the following questions:
    1. Does current Airport Extreme have support for jumbo frames (everything above 1500bytes per frame)? (if one does not know what that is them perhaps understanding acronym "MTU" can help a bit)
    2. If there is support then what is the maximum supported size of jumbo frame? (Some products do not go above 6k and I read some statistics that traffic somwhere is usually 66% at about 4k jumbo frames and above that there is not much...)
    3. If there is no support then does Apple plan on update for this (firmware or hardware) in the future?
Please, do not tell me that someoene ran something with jumbo frame and it worked as I tried yesterday LaCie Ethernet drive with supposedly setup (I set it myself) of jumbo frame 4k and on soft reboot of the drive it worked when connected to Airp[ort Extreme, but after hard reboot the disk is not visible anymore. I will recover the disk, but I need to understand if I have chance of using jumbo frames that tremendously improve performance with large files (e.g. try movies stored for AppleTV on network drive) when using Airport Extreme with its gigabit Ethernet... or that is just Gigabit Ethernet for product marketing purposes only.
I just need reliable answer by product specification that should be on paper at Apple, but it is not so I hope that one of guys here has access to some engineering team.
    Thank you,

  • ACH Setup for California Child Support

    Hi,
We need to pay by ACH from FI to child support garnishment vendors. I have setup everything correctly but not able to get addenda record 7 correctly as per Bank Of America's requirement. I get the below line in record "7", but it does not show any HR related information which is required like,
    -- Employee Number
    -- SSN
    -- FIPS Codes
I get Below out of standard SAP as record "7".
    705RMROIACH1_MIKE*5000.005000.00*0.00\
and I need Employee Number, SSN, FIPS and in addition above line should read like this
    705DEDCSACH1_MIKE*5000.005000.00*0.00\ .
Please advice. Where in SAP this record 7 settings are configured which pulls HR data to FI and paid through F110/ACH?
    Regards,
    M.

    Hi Experts,
I have a few  queries at this juncture:
    1) For example, let's say there is vendor (say 108001 )and there are three employees whose Support Garnishments are going to this vendor.
Now If u201CIssue Separate Check to Vendor u201Cfield is checked in IT0194, does this ensure separate line items/entries for each employee in the ACH file format.
    2) Can we assign only Vendor (say 108001 ) everytime in IT0194 for any employee with Garnishment Category u2013 Support.
    3) Can a Vendor ask for the same ACH file in both the formats - CTX and CCD ? If yes, does that mean there will be two payment runs in FI, one for each format.
    Can you please help.
    Regards,
    Somdeb.

Added better baseline support for ConstraintLayout. ConstraintRow's now have a baseline property. It can either be a number or of the form "maxAscent:x". In the first case, it will position elements at that y-pixel value in the row based on their baseline position.  Otherwise, it first aligns elements to the maximum baseline position of the elements in the row, and then, positions elements based on the pixel value provided. This support allows elements with different baselinePositions to be aligned more easily.

  • Ethernet address setup

    Hi,
I am trying to configure a network interface
    for IPv4 in Solaris 8.
I setup the IP address, the broadcast
address and the Interface flags using
    ioctl commands SIOCSIFADDR,
    SIOCSIFBRDADDR and SIOCSIFNETMASK.
How do I setup the MAC address (Ethernet address)
for this interface? Its different from that for
the rest of the network interfaces in this machine,
so the default address doesn't work.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
I, also, am trying to get the ethernet address for a Solaris machine. I have been looking though the Documentation and using ioctl; however, I do not know what flags to use. The main one I have been working with is SIOCGLIFADDR. Moreover, I use lifr_req.lifr_name, hme0. But, when I print the ethernet address one byte at a time as a unsigned char, my results are not the same as the output using ifconfig -a. Does anyone know how to retrieve the ethernet address on a Solaris machine?
    Thank you,

  • Trunking Cisco CUCM 9.0 with UCS 500

In one of our branch offices use Cisco UCS-500 for local IP telephony and PRI. Now we would like to integrate this system to our main offices so that we dial all the 4-digit extensions.
Is it possible to trunk Cisco UCS 500 with CUCM 9.0. ?

    Hi
Seems you have codec negotiation problem when you are making calls from UCS to CUCM
. Can you post your UCS config here.
Maybe you have logging buffered enabled on your UCS as a result of which logs are not displayed on screen over telent session.

That PKGBUILD doesn't work, primarily because _svnmod is not set correctly.  The remaining problems are mostly down to not being in the $srcdir directory when checking out the ImageMagick source.  It's also good practice to copy the source and do the build in the copy.  That way, it will be possible to successfully update the source and rebuild the package at a later date.  Otherwise, the PKGBUILD certainly works with the following modifications but I've no idea whether the package is viable because I didn't try installing and testing it.
    _svntrunk=https://www.imagemagick.org/subversion/ImageMagick/trunk
    _svnmod=ImageMagick
    build() {
    cd ${srcdir}
    if [ -d $_svnmod/.svn ]; then
    cd $_svnmod

  • WiFi/Ethernet network setup

Im not much of a techie and I cant find a tutorial anywhere that teachers you how to go about setting up networking with Mac..
I have one MacBook with Tiger (10.4.11), and a Mac Mini with Leopard (10.5.2), the MacBook connects to the internet wirelessly and the Mac Mini connects via Ethernet.
Can someone point me to a tutorial and prove me wrong, or atleast make a short setup guide?
    Thankyou very much in advance!

This may sound annoying...but since both of them are on the internet, you already have networking set up.
Which in turn implies: what is it you want to do with networking that you can't do? I'm suggesting that you may already have your networking, but don't know how to use it to do something that you want to do.
And, how are the two computers connected to the internet? (In more detail than just one is wired and the other is wireless.) Since one of them is wireless, there must be a wireless base station somewhere. What kind of device does the wired one connect to? A cable or DSL modem in your home? Or is the wireless base station also the device you connect the wired one to?
And when you say they're both connected to the internet, is that both at home, or the wired one at home, but the wireless one only when you go out to, say, Starbucks and use their wireless access point?

  • Setup is Unable to supported product on your system

Ive had this message ever since i had the card
and id like to update, i've tried software autoupdate, and even downloading the beta
i followed all the instructions etc etc
XP SP2, Audigy 2, AMD 3500+, gb ram
What exactly is the problem, shouldnt the software be functional?

I got a new computer with Vista installed. The new drivers worked fine, all good. Then I installed Win XP in dual boot to get some of my games running and had big problems installing the XP driver. "Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system". So after hours and hours of browsing and testing I found this driver: http://www.joker.si/mn3njalnik/index...howtopic=86650?It is a driver modified from the newly released Vista drivers. Now to get these to work I had extract the files manually from the file and run the Setup.exe in the Drivers folder. Can't get the audio console to work though only drivers. Atleast I have sound now so I am semi happy.

  • Fiber to Ethernet converter setup.

I am testing a fiber connection over media converter.
    The cenario is as follows.
Setup sfp interface IP on cisco router. Connect Fiber to Media Converter fiber interface and connect Ethernet interface to Firewall Ethernet Int and setup ip.
Cisco router gig0/0 SFP ==========  Fiber to Ethernet Converter --------------- Firewall
Is this possible? if so how would i get this to work?
    Thanks for the help.

    Thanks for the reply.
I think that you might be right. I guess i need a converter as a stand-alone application.
All a really want to do is configure Cisco Router with an GLC-T SFP and  connected over fiber to a location and from that location use a converter to convert fiber to ethernet and configure their firewall. I beleive the converter...like you said it will have to be a stand-alone device. Also it would have to have auto-negotiation capabilities.
Any suggestions on a type of fiber to ethernet stand-alone converter?
    Thanks

  • Will on-board Gigabit Ethernet ports on a Cisco 3845 support a 100 Mb SFP?

    Hi,
This is a very specific question - hopefully someone has tested this or run into this scenario...
I was trying to connect a Cisco 3845 router to a 100 Mbps circuit. Specifically, I was trying to connect this circuit to the on-board Gigabit Ethernet port (Gig 0/0). This is the port that can be used as either an RJ45 or SFP slot. The only SFP I had was a multi-mode 100 Mbps SFP. When I hooked it up to Gi0/0, I got a message saying the SFP type wasn't supported on the chassis.
I was able to deploy the 3845 and since then I haven't had the correct hardware to recreate the exact scenario. Has anyone experienced this? Is it simply because Gigabit interface on a 3845 won't support a Fast Ethernet (100 Mbps) SFP?
    Thanks.

Not all SFP's will just plug in and work. Here are the SFP's that are considered compatible with the 3800 series ISR's.
