ETO and MTO Product Costing

Hi All,
I’m joining new project, which is basically Product costing related to ETO and MTO processes. As a design consultant, what would be my tasks in ETO and MTO process?
Any one have Design documents and Configuration documents related to ETO and MTO product costing, please forward to me.
I will assign points.
Thanks,

  • MTO-Product cost by Sales Order

    Hi Guys,
My client is manufacturing Energy Meters, they want Sales order based Production Planning and costing etc.,
in MTO scenario, Product cost by Sales Order
    1. Sales Order will be created
    2. BOM is created
    3. some of raw material in the BOM list are available in the stores
    My question is that
When I run MRP, the system will create planned order and PR, the system will check the availablie qty which are in the stores or not for the planned order.
    Correct me if am wrong,
if the system is not checking the available qty, then there is no Planned Order, everything will be new PR for the whole sales order Qty.
    Expecting your valuable reply
Thanks for your help in advance.
    Regards
    Elan

    Dear ,
When I run MRP, the system will create planned order and PR, the system will check the availablie qty which are in the stores or not for the planned order
Answer is Yes .In Sales Order Based Production Order -MTO  , you will be having pre-determined BOM and Routing , before creation of FG Sales Order .
Based on Planning Strategy 20 : If you are using 20 planning startegy , then you will frist roll the cost in Sales Order Level  by going to VA02-High Lisght Line item -Extras-Cost -based on BOM and Routing  , Sales order will be costed and flagged with green .Then Sales Order will be credit relased in VKM3 for MRP run in MD02.
Now , in MD02 , you need to select NETCH , 2,1,1,3,2  while executing MRP on FG item .Here , MRP system will explode the BOM till the lowest level and does net requirement calcuation for BOM Component (as depedent to FG) .If the stock alwardy available , then it will  show up as Stcok in Order Report (MD4C/MD04-Planned Order -Order Report ) under Reseravtion number or else it will generate PR for componenet where as planned Order for FG.
Creation of PR or Plnned Order depends on Procurment Type -E/F as well as selection of indicator Create PR in MD02.Basically , for MTO Sales Order item , it will FG  with procurement type E and compoenet will be F if there there is no farther sub-assblmy .So it should generate Planned Order for FG and PR for shortage qty of component .
    Hope this is clear

  • Use of Product cost collector in REM

    Hi All,
I am new to PP module, I got some doubts when working on costing of the product.
    1. In REM scenario why do we need an extra step of creating product cost collector ??
    2. when a product is produced will the prod cost collector is used for both debiting(raw and semi) and crediting(finished prod) ?

    Dear Reddy,
1.Product cost collector is the cost collecting object for a period based production or in a REM - repetitive manufacturing
    scenario.
2.Without having any product cost collector you cannot carryout production confirmation(assembly backflush) for a product.
3.So for all the products for which production confirmation will be declared requires a individual product cost collector.
4.Prior to this you require a production version for the material.
5.Production version and a product cost collector is also the master data for a REM scenario.
    Now check and revert back.

  • Essence of product cost collectors

    In REM
what is essence of product cost collector (KKF6n), {As I understand production cost collectors
are cost carrying elements}, but needs to have more insights like how it captures
production costs ( i.e through activities, price maintained in accounting view....)
Does it make any difference if product cost collector is executed before MRP run, or it has
to be executed only after MRP run

    Dear Eshwer,
1.Product Cost collector is one of the master data in REM scenario.
2.This product cost collector is no where related to MRP.
3.Product Cost collector is used as a cost object in REM scenario, which means all the cost will be
booked under this product cost collector for that material.
4.Whatever the confirmations that are done in MFBF or MF41 or MF42N,the cost will get debited or
credited accordingly for that material and the impact will be seen in the product cost collector.
5.This product cost collector will be having an order number which will be used for order settlement and
    variance calculation.
6.For creating a product cost collector you will require a production version.
7.so whenever you do an assembly or activity or component backflush, the cost will be booked under
    this product cost collector.
8.So as such there's no relation between MRP and a product cost collector.
I hope this pints will help you to some extent.
Revert back with your further queries.

  • Product Cost Collectors

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me what is exactly product cost collectors and what is the impact on the production orders and cost?
If there is a BOM change, we will just create new production version and new product cost collector. We will not update the standard cost. Is it that the new production orders will pick up the new cost based on the product cost collector? even though the standard cost was not up to date? What will be the impact to the accounting?
    Kindly please advise. Thank you.

    Hi,
    Following link will be useful:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/5f/1faba54aee11d189740000e8322d00/frameset.htm
    A few points for reference:
    - Product Cost by Period, Product is the main cost object.
    - Actual costs can be collected on the PCC
    - No settlement rule for a mfg order linked to a PCC
    - In PCC, the components in the BOM picks up the price from the material master
    - If Std Cost Est is not upto date, then matls in PCC will take existing / old price
    - So the FG Preliminary cost estimate will not match with its Std Cost
    - Moreover inventory valuation may vary if std cost est is not up to date
    - The Valuatin variant specified in the Costing variant actual of the PCC is used to valuate the data confirmed for the mfg order.
    - This costing variant results in a temporary prelim cost est for the mfg order. This preliminary cost estimate cannot be saved.
    Integration with Mfg Order:-
If you have specified in the order type of your mfg orders that the costs should be collected on a PCC rather than on the mfg order, the system creates a link to the PCC when you create a mfg order for the corresponding combination of characteristics (such as material / plant / production version). The mfg order receives the status PCC (product cost collector). This status prevents costs from being allocated to the manufacturing order.
The above might give you some lead.

  • About product cost by period

    HI all
    I have some questions
can u caculate product cost by period, however in the normal production order enviroment ,do not use the process order type like "rm01"
    how to config?

    Hi,
there are two process of the REM( product cost for period ) and discrete are different, In rem we use the product cast collector with the production version and this product cost collector will be the cost object, were as in discrete we use the production order as the cost object.
in rem we use product cost collector as it is ... easy and there will not be much of change in the bom and routing is also simple, and also to be noted the product will not chnage over a long period of time. there is no defined lot size as constant flow of production line.
more over we use black fleshing - automatic movement of good issue and receipt.
hope this is clear assign points.

  • Profit center change in product cost collector

    Hi All,
I would like to know what precautions we should take for mass changes of profit center corrections in the "Product Cost Collector".
I want to make  same profit centers in material master and in product cost collector for that we need some  report on "Product Cost Collector" or table name so that we may compare the profit center in material master and Product cost collector in order to make them in sink.
    Regads,
    Raj

    Hi All,
My query is from which T-code of product cost collector or any table by i get matrial and profit center combination.
Also i would like to know any precaution if any change of profit center in material master for product cost collector (privious is X cost center and now i am changing to say Y).

  • Product cost estimate

    Hi Experts,
Can somebody explain me the theoritical point of need for product cost estimate.  From my know somepeople say we need to enter the standard price in the cost estimate tab of the material master, but sometime i see that when we run the CK11n the price automatically updated in the standard price field of the material master when we mark and relese the std cost estimate.
Do we need to enter price in the material master before the cost estimate for the materials or if we do the cost estimate do we do cost estimate only for the finished products so that all the cost under that product will be calcualted or do we need to do cost estimate for all material raw material, HALB & FERT?
what is the purpose of cost estimate and the result of cost estimate?
    Thank you
Edited by: Nivi ram on Dec 29, 2009 9:52 PM

    Hi Nivi,
Partly I agree with Pradeep, but I would to add more information regarding product cost estimate concept.
Maintaining material master on Accounting view or Costing view is mandatory prior to run Product Costing. It is true, by maintain price manually you cannot get cost breakdown or what so called as cost component structure. It is initial price which then later can be updated by "process Marking and Release" product cost estimatel.
How the system get the value of material costs and process costs are defined by Costing Variant. Costing variant control how the system find the BOM and routing to calculate the material costing and the production costing. System will access the material  and activity cost based on Valuation variant in the Costing variant. I am sure you can costing variant use in the CK11N.
When the product cost are free of error then, you can go to the process to utilize the product cost estimate to update the material master with CK24 ( update material master indivdually). You can also use mass costing using CK40N - Edit Costing Run to maintain the costing and update material master. So product cost estimate can be run either for finished product (FERT), semi finished product (HALB) or other components
    Hope this help.

  • How to calculate the Current APC (Acquisition and Production Cost)

    Hi,
Please help me how to calculate the Current APC.
The Current APC (Acquisition and Production Cost) is a calculated value based on Previous Year Acquisition balance plus any value changes up to the time of the report.
The Asset History Report (RAGITT_ALV01) calculates the Current APC value &
The Current APC can also be found in the Asset Explorer (transaction code AW01N) under Country Book 10/ Posted Values tab then the line “Acquisition Value” and column “Posted values”.
I suppose that the calculation of Current APC (Acquisition and Production Cost) is getting done in the GET statements in the report RAGITT_ALV01, but unable to find the actual logic.
    Please help me.
    Thanks in advance,
    Satish

    Hi,
you'll find the logic in fm FI_AA_VALUES_CALCULATE

  • Acquisition:Acquis. and production costs' could not be found for area 01' in ABZON

    Hi  All
I m getting one error 'Account 'Acquisition:Acquis. and production costs' could not be found for area 01' in ABZON. I know we have to maintain accounts using Tcode-AO85 but
    1) how to know the correct Account Determination.
    2) How to know the correct G/Ls to be maintained in AO85.
    Pls advice.
    Thnx in advance.
    Regards
    Pankaj

    Hi,
In ABZON, if you are acquiring with existing asset then you cna have access to account determination / asset class from asset master. If you are also creating new asset then you will have access to asset class.
In OAYZ, we assign account determination to asset class. and in AO85, we asign GL account to account determination.
    Hope this will help you.
    Thanks,

    Hi Guys,
I want to doing Settle Asset Under Construction with AIAB,
when i doing Process distribution rules with target Asset on time-dependent it's Cost Center, it's no problem and success
but if i doing Process distributin rules with target Asset on time-dependent is Internal Order, so i can't process and show error message : Account 'Acquisition:Acquis. and production costs' could not be found
so can any body give me the solution, where is the problem ??
    Thank's
    Best Regards

    Hi,
In AO90, check for the Account 'Acquisition:Acquis. and production costs' .
Then for the GL account check the field status group.  May be Cost center might be mandatory.
